That way, if there's confusion, you can come back and say, "Remember we had this discussion about what my role was and what your role was?"
Or if somebody gets out of their lane, you can come back and say, "Remember when we talked about this, and this was my job, and this was your job, and now you're coming into my job? And so I just want to recommunicate and reestablish those boundaries." That's metacommunications.
And whenever there is role confusion, you're confused about the role, you're confused about the rules, or they're confused about it. That is a space ripe for cl ripe for conflict. And so clearly communicate, meta communicate. Put that down as job number one. Write it on your list of to-do. Meta communicate. What are the roles? What are the rules?
