Breaking news. Canada is throwing their weight behind their ally, not to the south, but across the Atlantic.
"Uh Greenland uh the future of Greenland is a decision for the for Greenland. Uh we are NATO partners uh with Denmark. Uh and so our full partnership uh stands uh our obligations on art article 5, article 2 of NATO stand and we stand full square behind them."
"OH, THAT'S GOING TO HURT. ONLY Donald Trump could turn a NATO ally like Canada into one publicly reaffirming obligations not to the US but to Denmark against the USA. Egoomaniac's Greenland fixation continues to isolate the United States."
"And I may do that for Greenland too. I may put a tariff on countries if they don't go along with Greenland because we need Greenland for national security. So I may do that. I'll give you a little I'll talk about I'll take you out of that. In fact, that'll end up being the story. But actually, this is a much bigger story because we're reducing healthcare by numbers that you haven't seen."
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Kelly, he's warning Trump to quote, "Back off Greenland," aligning with Europe in defense of NATO principles, particularly the idea that if one ally is threatened, then the alliance responds together. That idea being article five which the US I guess used to fall under also until of course the I want Greenland like it's a property on a monopoly board foreign policy came into play.

Canada, one of the United States's closest security partners. You're talking NORAD, NATO missions, intelligence coordination, telling the United States and the president that its allegiance is not with the US but with those across the Atlantic. It's a scathing indictment of this administration. Is there a way to address the president's security concerns without handing over Greenland that both sides might support?
"No, because this is nothing to do with actual security concerns. This is the president being an idiot. Uh, and he is really excited about the idea of taking this big piece of land that's on a map. Uh, and he's just using any excuse to actually cover up his idiotic idea. And then you have people like uh you know JD Vance and Marco Rubio. They're coming up with all these weird excuses. We have access to Greenland. We have a base in Greenland. The the Kingdom of Denmark has said you could expand all the bases you want. They have they have agreed to to work with us on economic issues. They've agreed to any type of of of uh economic treaty that to secure middle rights. Whatever it is, they'll do anything because they certainly don't want to work. But this is just a fit of fancy this president is having. And then all his court gestures around him are coming up with an excuse because the real excuse is because the real reason is really dumb. It's just the president is an idiot and we're all trying to come up with excuses. But the fact is at the core base this president is an idiot and now he's putting that foreign policy into effect which is going to negatively affect us and the long run which is our national security."
"But here's the thing that's interesting. Trump's narrative is well I'm restoring respect. Allies are falling in line. America is feared again and we're doing great economically. Everybody wants to make a deal. Well, what part of Canada is afraid and wants to make a deal comes across when they're making trade deals with China instead?"
Canada is now actively rebuilding economic ties with China, including cutting tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles as part of a deal tied to reducing Chinese tariffs on key Canadian agriculture export.
"And I believe the progress that we have made in the partnership sets us up well for the new world order. China's strengths, for example, in electric vehicles are formidable. They're undeniable. These are the most affordable and energy efficient and innovative vehicles in the world. And for Canada to build our own competitive EV sector, we need to learn from, partner with, and access and build supply chains with China. To help deliver on the full potential of these partnerships and to bring down costs for Canadians, we're going to start by allowing up to 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles into the Canadian market at the most favored nation tariff rate, which is six 6.1%."
Reuters also reports that both leaders from Canada and China announced a renewed strategic partnership with Canada seeking quote historic gains in areas like agriculture, energy and finance explicitly in the context of strained relations with the US under Trump.
"One of the things you said in the public remarks was um this partnership Canada and China, this new partnership sets us up well for the new world order. What what did you mean by that? What is the new world order?"
"Well, this is it's a great question, Brian, because I think the world is still determining what that uh what that order is going to be. And let's be clear what we're talking about first and foremost, which is what are the trading what what is going to govern global trade? Uh what is the role of the WTO going to be? How important are bilateral deals such as the one we're developing? uh plurilateral deals, if I can use that term, trans-pacific partnership uh uh potential linkages between transport Pacific Partnership uh uh and the EU. Where is uh uh financial regulation, payment system regulation going to fit into that?"
"So, let's just be clear, Canada didn't suddenly wake up and think, you know what, we should probably head over to Beijing because we need to rely more on China. Canada is reacting out of necessity as a result of the issues created by Donald Trump."
"We are we are once again we are once again at one of those hinge moments of history. Our old relationship with the United States, a relationship based on steadily increasing integration is over. The system of open global trade anchored by the United States. A system that Canada has relied on since the Second World War. A system that, while not perfect, has helped deliver prosperity for a country for decades, is over. These are tragedies, but it's also our new reality. We are over. We are over the shock of the American betrayal, but we should never forget the lessons."
"But you're going to take us forward. We have to look out for ourselves and above all we have to take care of each other."
If Trump's goal was America alone as opposed to America first, then he's it's working. Trump's Greenland threats are pushing NATO allies closer together against him. Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
"Denmark recalls the foundational principle of international law that forbids states from threatening or using force against another state's territorial integrity and political independence. This imperative is inscrined in article 2 paragraph 4 of the UN charter. Members of the UN Security Council have a special responsibility to uphold these principles. The principles of sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity must be respected. The inviability of borders is not up for negotiation. These are universal sacrosan principles enshrined in international law. They apply everywhere."
Canada is siding with Europe on alliance solidarity against him.
"The future of Greenland is for Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark. And it's for Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark only."
"Denmark is a close ally of the United Kingdom in Europe um and a close ally in NATO. And so it's very important we stand by our ally and very clear about the future of Greenland. And that's your message to Donald Trump as well when you speak to him next."
"It's my consistent message in relation to Greenland. Um and so that's not a new position. Um it is the future for Greenland is for Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark. Uh they are a European ally. They're a NATO ally and we stand with uh with Denmark."
And at the same time, Canada is rebuilding trade ties with China. Trump keeps making cooperation with the US impossible and more costly. Um so what this uh partnership uh does is in areas for example of clean energy, conventional energy, agriculture as we were just talking about um and financial services which we've talked less about um but the evolution of the global financial system uh the role of the remn over time uh the evolution of crossber payments I know it all sounds very dry except for your organization which I think takes an interest in it um these are important elements of how the system is going to work. And look, the expectation is that um rather than these being developed necessarily through the IMF, WTO and other multilateral organizations, uh it is going to be coalitions that develop them not for the world, but for subsect se uh subsectors of."
