8 Evident Signs There Is An Evil Person In Your Life | Billy Graham Message

God Powerful Sermons27:51

We have all encountered people who make us feel uneasy, drained, or even controlled. There are times when you can't quite put your finger on what's happening, but deep inside, you have a strong feeling that something isn't right. When the enemy sets out to destroy a soul, it doesn't appear as a terrifying figure with a menacing face. Instead, it often disguises itself as something harmless and appealing. While most people carry good intentions, there are still those who hide their true nature behind a facade of kindness. They manipulate, deceive, and sometimes harbor sinister motives.

These individuals often appear charismatic, knowing exactly what to say to gain your trust, making it difficult to see the truth until you realize you've been hurt. They can show up in any relationship: colleagues, friends, family members, or even someone you love. Recognizing the warning signs will help you avoid emotional, spiritual, and sometimes even physical harm. Let's dive into eight clear signs that there is an evil person in your life.

Before we begin, don't forget to support our channel by liking, sharing, subscribing, and commenting. Amen to help spread the gospel to more people.

Sign number one. One of the clearest signs of an evil person is the inconsistency between their words and actions. They may swear loyalty to you, but when the time comes, they betray you for their own benefit. They speak of righteousness, but their lifestyle is full of deception. Jesus warned us about such people in Matthew 7:15. "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves."

This is the harsh reality. They don't want you to notice the contradictions in their character. They rely on your trust, on the fact that you don't observe closely enough, don't ask questions, and don't look at the reality of their actions. But if you learn to pay attention, you will see that their words have no foundation, and their promises never come to fruition.

Imagine a wooden bridge stretching across a river. At first glance, it appears sturdy, but the moment you step on it, the planks begin to wobble. It's not as solid as you thought. That's exactly how a deceitful person operates in your life. They build their image with words, but their actions are riddled with dangerous gaps. If you don't recognize this, soon one day you'll step in the wrong place and fall into the depths of heartbreak.

These individuals are masters of disguise. But the Bible reminds us in Luke 8:17, "For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open." Sooner or later, the truth will be exposed.

When you begin to notice the signs of inconsistency, their words not aligning with their actions, their promises meaning nothing, stop. Observe. Keep your distance. Do not walk on a bridge that is bound to collapse.

Sign number two. Another sign that an evil person is present in your life is that they take pleasure in the suffering of others. These individuals are not just indifferent. They actually feel satisfaction when someone else fails, suffers, or is in pain. They are not only apathetic to the misfortunes of others, but sometimes they are the ones actively causing it. They may pretend to care, but in reality, they harbor malice, waiting for the moment when someone falls apart so they can relish in their own sense of power.

The Bible warns us about those with wicked hearts. "The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them." Psalm 37:12. These people are not just cold-hearted. They intentionally inflict harm and sow destruction in the lives of others. They may do it with words as sharp as knives, with schemes to ruin reputations, or with manipulative actions that leave others living in torment.

Picture a predator in the wild, not attacking immediately, but watching its prey, waiting for the moment of weakness to strike. The heartless people in your life operate the same way. They wait for you to stumble, to be at your lowest, and then they use your pain to mock or exploit you. They laugh when you fail, but they never extend a hand to lift you up. They may pretend to sympathize with your struggles, but deep down they just want to hear about your suffering to feed their own selfish pleasure.

The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:6, "Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth." Those who belong to God never take joy in another person's pain. They do not seek pleasure in destruction, but always lift others up in truth.

One of the most dangerous traits of a person with an evil heart is that they make you feel small, powerless, and unworthy. They plant seeds of doubt in you, making you blame yourself instead of recognizing that they are the source of your pain. Sometimes they turn everything into a game where you are the victim and they are the master, enjoying every moment of your suffering. Stay alert and recognize this sign.

Someone who truly loves you will never want to see you suffer. If you realize that someone in your life takes joy in your failures, take it as a warning. God never wants his children to remain in the grip of cruel souls. If necessary, walk away because the Lord will always protect you and place you where you belong.

Sign number three. One of the most dangerous tactics that toxic individuals use to control you is psychological manipulation. A common form of manipulation is gaslighting, a cunning strategy that makes you doubt your own memory, perception, and emotions. If someone can make you question your own reality, they can make you believe anything that serves their agenda. They can twist themselves into the victim and turn you into the aggressor. They can convince you that you are overreacting when, in truth, you are merely defending yourself.

Jesus said, "Let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." Matthew 5:37. The words of truth are always clear, but manipulators never allow you to have that clarity. They constantly change their story, distort facts, and keep you trapped in a state of perpetual confusion. They will pull you into a cycle of mixed signals. One moment they are loving, the next they are distant. One day they praise you, the next they tear down your self-worth. They appear to care when you are in pain, but they are the ones who caused that pain in the first place. And before you know it, you lose the ability to trust yourself.

This manipulation doesn't just break your heart; it warps your mind. When you can't trust your own perceptions, you no longer know what is real. When you constantly question yourself, you become a puppet in the hands of the manipulator. And if you remain in this cycle for too long, you may not have the strength to break free.

So, how do you protect yourself? The first step is to trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, believe it. Do not rationalize harmful behavior. Do not let someone else's words override your own feelings. Your subconscious is better at detecting red flags than you realize, even when you can't yet put them into words.

The second step is to observe how they react when confronted. A truthful person can admit their faults. But a manipulator will not. They will deny, deflect, or shift the blame. If every time you bring up an issue, they turn it around on you, making you feel guilty even when you've done nothing wrong, recognize that this is not normal; it's a tactic of control.

The third step is to set boundaries and keep your distance. Deceitful, manipulative, and toxic people do not change. They are not remorseful because their tactics benefit them. They do not seek truth because lies help them maintain control. They do not want you to be strong because they need you weak. But your job is not to fix them. Your job is to protect yourself. You were not created to be the healer of those who refuse healing. If you continue trying to change someone who does not want to change, you will not only hurt yourself but also waste time, energy, and the peace that God has intended for you.

So stay alert, stay wise, and most importantly, never ignore what God is whispering to you. If He is showing you warning signs, don't dismiss them. If He is placing unease in your spirit, don't overlook it. Because one of the most damning traits of an evil person is that they make you doubt the very voice of God leading you to break free. You don't need them to move forward, but you need God to walk in true freedom. So stand firm, cut the toxic ties, and let Him lead you to something better.

Sign number four. Jealousy is a double-edged sword. It not only harms the one who carries it but also seeks to destroy those it targets. But the most dangerous thing about jealousy is that it never announces itself. It doesn't come with a bright warning sign that says, "I'm here to pull you down." No, it lurks in the shadows of relationships, hides behind polite smiles, and disguises itself as fake concern. Envy can wear the face of a friend, a coworker, or even a family member. But its true nature is destruction.

And here's the truth about evil people: They cannot stand to see you rise because, in their minds, your success is a glaring reflection of their own failure. The Bible warns about this in Proverbs 14:30. "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones." Jealousy is never an innocent emotion. It is a corrosive force from within.

When a person cannot control their envy, it turns into resentment. And when resentment takes root, it leads to destructive actions. Sometimes it's just subtle remarks that make you doubt yourself. Other times, it's sudden distance when you start succeeding. And in some cases, it's outright attacks on your reputation, spreading rumors, discrediting your name, or intentionally sabotaging your path.

These people will never admit they are jealous of you. Instead, they will disguise it under the pretense of realism or false concern. But look for the common pattern. Do they act this way toward everyone or just toward you? Because envious people are not threatened by everyone, only by those they see as a reflection of what they cannot become.

The Bible makes it clear: "For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice." James 3:16. Jealousy is not just a feeling; it is the doorway to all kinds of negative actions. Once someone allows jealousy to take control, they will do whatever it takes to bring you down. Because in their mind, if they can have what you have, then you don't deserve it either.

But the most dangerous part is not what they do; it's what they make you feel. If you are not aware, their disguised words can plant seeds of doubt, fear, and insecurity in your mind. If you are not careful, you may start thinking, "Maybe I'm not good enough. Maybe they're right. Maybe I should lower my expectations." But that is exactly what they want. They want you to shrink yourself so they don't have to face their own failures.

So what should you do? You have two choices: either let them pull you down or walk away and keep rising. There is no middle ground. If you surround yourself with envious people, you will begin to absorb their mindset, and that is the quickest way to sabotage yourself.

Remember, your success is not an apology. You do not need the approval of people who do not want to see you win. If God has opened a door for you, no one can shut it. So, never shrink yourself to make those who never clapped for you feel comfortable.

Sign number five. They lack empathy. There are certain types of people who enter your life not to uplift you but to drain your soul. They don't need to yell. They don't need to expose their true colors. And they don't need to launch public attacks. Instead, they simply do not care. Cruelty doesn't always come in the form of harsh words. Sometimes it shows up in the silence of someone who should have been there.

You may be hurting. You may need encouragement, a comforting hug. But when you turn to them, all you receive is cold indifference or a smirk. People who lack empathy don't scream, "I am a bad person." They don't wear warning labels. They don't push you to the ground, but when you fall, they won't extend a hand to lift you up. They look at you with emptiness, as if you never truly mattered. And that is what makes them dangerous. Their indifference can wear down your heart piece by piece.

Lack of empathy is not just about actions; it is also found in words that may seem casual but cut like a knife. Their words don't seem intentionally cruel, yet they leave wounds in your soul, making you feel small, weak, and unworthy of care. They don't attack you, but they make you question your own value. They don't directly hurt you, but they make you feel alone, even in a room full of people.

A person who lacks empathy may be a friend who always comes to you when they need help but disappears when you need them. It may be a family member who expects you to listen but never truly cares about your pain. It may be someone you once loved but who never truly loved you back. They may appear kind and well-mannered, but inside, they have no room for understanding or compassion. When you are suffering, they do not stand by your side. When you are struggling, they do not help you find balance. When you are broken, they simply look away.

A heart that loves should never have to apologize for needing care. A wounded soul is not wrong for expecting understanding. And a person worthy of love should never have to beg for compassion. While people may be indifferent, God never ignores your pain. The Bible says in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

You may feel alone among people who lack empathy, but you are not truly alone. God never turns His face away from your suffering. He does not abandon you in the night. He does not tell you to stay silent when you need to cry out. God sees you. God hears you. God understands you, even when no one else does.

Remember, lack of empathy is one of the most dangerous traits of an evil person. It doesn't just hurt you; it can make you numb. If you don't recognize it early, you might start believing that you don't deserve care, that you should suppress your emotions, that you are too sensitive. If you allow yourself to be surrounded by people who lack empathy, your heart will eventually become dry. You will stop sharing, stop expecting, and worst of all, stop believing in true love.

Pay attention to the people around you. Is there someone who always makes you feel like a burden when you express your emotions? Is there someone who remains indifferent to your pain? Is there someone who never truly listens to you? If the answer is yes, then it's time to create distance. You don't need to stay close to people who don't appreciate you. You don't need to melt an icy heart. You don't need to lower yourself just to earn a little attention from someone who never really cared. You deserve genuine relationships. You deserve love. You deserve people who see you, hear you, and cherish you.

Sign number six. They never take responsibility. This is one of the most important signs because if you don't recognize a person who never takes responsibility, you are opening the door to endless emotional damage. Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, "By their fruit you will recognize them." A good tree bears good fruit, and a bad tree bears bad fruit. A person with integrity will know when they are wrong and seek to make it right. But these people, they would rather distort reality than take accountability.

They are not just irresponsible; they have a pattern, a systematic cycle of manipulation. They hurt others, not by accident, but because they know they can do so without facing consequences. They act without remorse. They don't feel pain when they see you suffering. And the most dangerous part: they do it so subtly that at first, you don't even realize it. They do not feel the weight of morality the way you do. If caught in a lie, they don't feel ashamed; they only feel annoyed that they were exposed. And because they don't want to face their mistakes, they twist the truth to make themselves the victim and you the villain.

So what should you do? Stand up and guard your heart. Stop trying to prove that you deserve kindness. Stop waiting for them to take responsibility because it may never happen. Leave if you must. God does not want you to live under the manipulation, deceit, and irresponsibility of the wicked. If someone never takes responsibility, it may be time for you to walk away and let God replace them with people of genuine hearts.

Sign number seven. One undeniable sign that you have a toxic person in your life is their attempt to isolate you from your loved ones. This is not just simple selfishness; it is a calculated strategy designed to control and manipulate you. They know that as long as you remain connected to those who truly care for you, you will have support, wise counsel, and people who help you see the truth. And that is what they fear the most.

Manipulators do not want you to have a support system. So they will do everything in their power to create division between you and those who love you. They won't directly say, "Stay away from your family." But they will use more subtle strategies, planting seeds of doubt, creating misunderstandings, making you feel guilty for spending time with others. One day you might suddenly realize that you have drifted away from the people you once trusted without even knowing how it happened.

But here's something important to note: Those who seek to control you not only manipulate you but also reveal their true nature and how they treat those weaker than them. If you want to see someone's true character, observe how they treat people who can do nothing for them. A person may appear kind to you when they need you, but how do they speak to waitstaff? Do they show respect to the janitor? Are they courteous to those who hold no power over them? If someone is rude, dismissive, or cruel to those beneath them, that is a sign of who they truly are.

The Bible says, "A troublemaker and a villain who goes about with a corrupt mouth, who winks maliciously with his eyes, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers, who plots evil with deceit in his heart. He always stirs up conflict." Proverbs 6:12-14. Manipulators never reveal their true intentions. They use deception and control to get what they want without exposing their real motives. They may convince you that they love you, that they are simply protecting you from people who don't deserve you, but in reality, they are isolating you so that you have no one to rely on but them. And once they have you alone, they will use that control to manipulate you however they please.

The cruelty of toxic people is never limited to just one group. If they can be cold-hearted to others, one day they will be cold-hearted to you. If they can deceive others, they will deceive you, too. Be cautious because if you get too close, you might become their next target.

But God never calls you to live in bondage and fear. He does not want you in a relationship where you must sacrifice your freedom, your trust, and your loved ones just to gain acceptance from someone else. If someone is pulling you away from your family and friends, stop and ask yourself, "Is this real love or is this a trap designed to control me?" Pray, seek God's guidance, and have the courage to walk away. True love will never require you to lose yourself.

Sign number eight. They have a history of toxic behavior. There is a painful but necessary truth to face: Toxic people rarely change. They do not enter your life as a blank slate. They carry with them a history of manipulation, destruction, and pain. Broken relationships, shattered friendships, jobs that ended in conflict. These things are not coincidences; they are the trail left behind by a person who brings chaos wherever they go.

But here is the most dangerous part: They will never admit that they are the reason for these problems. They always have a tragic story to tell. They will say they were betrayed, treated unfairly, abandoned by the world. They will talk about horrible exes, disloyal friends, unappreciative bosses. But when you step back and look at the bigger picture, one thing becomes clear: the common denominator in every problem is them.

The Bible warns us in Proverbs 26:11, "As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly." Toxic people do not just make a mistake once; they have a pattern of repeated behavior. They may have been fired from multiple jobs due to unethical actions, but instead of self-reflection, they blame their boss, their coworkers, or the system. They may have a trail of broken relationships filled with betrayal and abuse, but instead of repentance, they blame those who walked away.

Have you ever met someone that everyone around you warned you about? Someone whose old friends refused to mention their name? Someone whose past, when you look into it, is filled with nothing but conflict and disorder? Believe those signs because a person's past behavior is often the greatest predictor of their future actions. A bad tree cannot bear good fruit, and a person with a history of harming others, unless they have truly repented, will continue doing the same.

Toxic people are masters at recreating cycles of destruction. They will enter your life with a charming smile, with beautiful promises. They will make you believe that you are the exception, that with you things will be different. But over time, the truth will reveal itself. They are still the same, and you are just their next victim. Remember, the truth about a person is not found in what they say but in what they have done. You can listen to their words, but look at the trail they have left behind. Do not be deceived by their sweet lies. If someone has a history of destroying everything they touch, believe that you are not the exception.

When Jesus spoke in Matthew 7:16, He said, "By their fruit, you will recognize them." Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? A person who carries evil within them will not suddenly become good just because they make promises. If they have hurt others before, if they have lived in deception and betrayal, they will do the same to you. Sooner or later, their true nature will be revealed. And if you are not careful, you will be the one left wounded. So trust the warnings God is giving you. Do not ignore the signs. Do not justify their behavior. Do not believe that you can change them.

If you recognize that someone has a history of toxic behavior, set boundaries. Keep your distance. Protect your heart. You were not born to be trapped in their cycle of destruction. You were called to live in freedom, in peace, and in relationships where love truly exists.

Dear friend, your life is too precious to be trapped in toxic relationships. God has not called you to live under manipulation, deceit, or emotional captivity. He has given you wisdom, discernment, and spiritual awareness to recognize the warning signs. Do not ignore them. Protect yourself. Pay attention to patterns. Do not let someone continually blame others while refusing to take responsibility. Set boundaries because you cannot reason with someone committed to distorting reality. Learn to say no to what harms you. More importantly, do not seek validation from people who do not truly care about you. You do not have to please them, and you do not have to dim your light to make them comfortable.

Surround yourself with honest, valuable, and supportive people. When you walk away from toxic bonds, you will realize that God has always prepared better people, better opportunities, and a brighter future for you. So, choose growth. Do not let jealousy, manipulation, or deceit hold you down. Stand firm. Be strong and trust what God is showing you. If He has placed uneasiness in your spirit about someone, do not ignore it. It may be His way of protecting you.

If you believe that God is guiding and protecting you from toxic people, comment amen below. And don't forget to like, share, and subscribe to help spread this message to others. See you in the next video. Live in the freedom God has prepared for you. Amen.
