In this video, I'm going to share with you three text messages that you should send right away in order to make more digital product sales. And if you don't have anyone to text yet, don't worry. At the end of the video, I'm going to share with you two really practical ways that you can get the phone numbers of potential customers so you can text them, too. It's going to be really good, really practical. I'm just going to show you everything exactly that you need to know because the thing is like most people are not doing text message marketing, but it can be really, really lucrative when you're doing it right.
So, couple of things here. Here, I'm going to look down at my notes just cuz I don't want you to miss anything. Number one, text message marketing is usually very different than a lot of other forms of like marketing. A lot of times with most pretty much every time with text messages, less is more. Usually when you're marketing, more is more. Meaning like the more you post on Instagram, the more emails you send, the more ads you run, the better. With text messages, you want to be really intentional and not send too much. So with text messages, less actually is more, which is different than most, you know, forms of marketing.
Other thing is that it needs to be short. So less is more also just in terms of length. Um, our character limit with the texting software that we use is like 138 characters that includes the link. So that's pretty short, but that's a really good thing. I love that the text messages are as short as they need to be because it keeps it right to the point. And so a lot of times when we go to launch a new product or we go to run a sale, I'll actually write the text message first because it forces me to get to the point because I have to say what I need to say in 138 characters. And so it forces me to cut the fluff. And I've been doing this for a really long time and I still have fluff. Those of you guys who are just getting started, everything about your marketing, everything about your messaging is probably like more than it needs to be. It's fluffy. It needs to just get straight to the point. Um, and so I usually write the text campaigns for a product launch or whatever first because it forces me to get to the most important point. Um, which is just good marketing.
And then the third thing that all good text messages need is just urgency. People don't move from text to checkout unless there's an urgent reason for them to do so. Again, urgency is something that like all forms of marketing really needs to have, all launches really need to have, but in particular text messages.
So, what I'm going to do here for you guys, you beautiful people, is I'm going to share my screen here and I want to go over um I'm going to talk about inst or ManyHat in a second here. It's a really good way to collect phone numbers. So, stay tuned for that in case you don't have any phone numbers to text. But first, I just want to show you some of the actual text messages that I've sent. Um I wanted to start with the flash sale one. Where was that one? I think it was this guy here. Yeah, it was this one here. So, [snorts] um you can see here that we we visually follow a similar format for all of our text messages. So, these were July text messages. Now, important note here, um this time says 6 a.m. PST. That's an error. It needs to say at least 8 a.m. Um and I'll explain why. So, that needs to say 8 a.m. Um I'll talk about that in a little bit, but um so here's the one that I wanted to break down. This is the first text message. I'm going to show you three of actual text messages I've sent that have helped us sell a ton of digital products and I want to break down why they worked so well.
So, this one is a new product launch and it did really well because we were charging $10 for the first hour. So, that's an incredible urgency that gets people moving. Um, you can see again it's like even at like I think what it is now I think it's like 40. Okay, so it's $27 now. Still fabulous, right? This is still a ton of content, a ton of just very very helpful things. Fill-in- thelank YouTube descriptions, viral freebie ideas, content prompts to create vulner like this is just an objectively great product. Um, each one of these we could sell for around $27, but the whole thing is 27, which is phenomenal. Um, but what we did here was for the first hour because it was a new product launch, we charged $10 for the first hour and it did so so so well. So you can see here if we do this all here, let me do the character limit. It's about 125 characters. Um, which our max is 138. So this is under our limit. We have a nice little image there that kind of mocks the product up. Um, with your mockups, by the way, they need to be visually creating value as well. So, you never just want to have an image for the sake of image. The image should booster and support the actual text message. Um, I mean, and that looks sexy as hell. So, that was the first one. Basically, what it says, hey, there's a new product. So, like here's a new product. Here's the thing I'm message. Here's the reason I'm messaging you. Here's what you get. And here's the urgency. And then obviously the link. That's the first one. Um, it worked because it was short, there's urgency, and it's a good offer. Can't get around that.
Okay, let me show you my Black Friday one. Super simple. Kind of the same thing. Here's what it is. Here's why I'm texting you. The Black Friday sale. Um, the coupon code, by the way, was literally just um I'll show you in Canva really quick. We can go to it, but it was literally just a coupon. So, it wasn't anything too sexy. I can find it. Yeah, it was like literally something like this. Oh, I think it was actually this guy down here. Yeah, it was literally this coupon. It was that one there. So, super simple, really basic. Um, so why am I texting you? Because of the Black Friday sale. What are you going to get? Well, 50% off coupons. Here's your urgency and the link. And this whole thing was 106 characters. So, you're going to start to see, and I'm going to show you the third one in a second here. I like the third one. I think it was kind of fun. I actually got the idea from Alex Heroszi. I thought it was so smart. and so well done. Um, give me one second here. I'm going to pause my washing machine. I don't know if you could hear it, but my washer was going and it was like, you ever have like a load of laundry that just sounds like the whole house is coming down to the foundations? I don't even know if you could hear it because this mic is really good, but I couldn't even hear myself think. So, um, yeah, it's really simple.
The thing that I did with the third one was actually for my event in October. Um, I really liked the text messages that we sent for my event because it was a way for people who weren't plugged into my event, which was a lot of work for us. It was a lot of labor. Um, I liked that it kept us pitching a product periodically throughout the day. So, this went to a checkout page and two virtual tickets to the event. And so even while the event was going on, we were still selling tickets to the event. And so I think a I don't think a lot of people do that. I think a lot of people are like, "Oh, well, I'm if I'm pretty good, I'll pitch the event right up until the day of the event." I loved that we took it a step further and pitched the event while the event was going on for the virtual tickets, which I think was just really and we got a ton of sales from this. So what we would do basically with these is we would relate what was happening, like here's what's happening. This is why I'm texting you. and then click here to grab the tickets and watch. And that kind of created its own urgency. Um, but you can see here on the last one we're like, "Hey, this is the last chance. Grab join us now." Um, and so you can't have a text message without urgency. This would also be a really good thing to do if you are like running a live webinar or you're hosting a challenge. These are good text messages to send when you have something related to an event or to something that's happening at a specific point in time.
Now, okay, we're going to talk about how to get numbers if you don't have any, but I want to just really quickly um I want to share with you something that's really important from like a compliancy standpoint. So, it's really important that you know about quiet hours. So, we at first didn't know about quiet hours. Um but we did more research and then we're like, "Okay, we should do quiet hours." Um basically, quiet hours means that you can't send text messages to people between the hours of I believe it's 8 a.m. PST and 8:00 p.m. PST. Check it in your time zones. Basically, you can't text people early in the morning, late at night. That makes sense to me. And so, it's really important that you are texting within the appropriate time zones. Um, when in doubt, you know, like think about, okay, who am I texting? What time zones is like, so you don't want to just be compliant for people on the East Coast because they're 3 hours ahead of people on the West Coast. So, if I text someone at like 8 a.m. EST, I'm still texting someone that's like PST 5:00 a.m., right? So, you want to be compliant in all time zones. It's I really strongly recommend you look into the compliancy loss. Just spend like an hour if that. I don't even know that you need to do if that, but like learn a little bit about when you should be texting and staying compliant.
And then the other thing along those lines, make sure that people opt in to actually texting to get text messages from you. So, I want to show you like an example of what an opt-in would look like. Um, we can just do this one here. So, if you go to here, this is a great example of a text message optin. Um, so they put their phone number in and then we say, "Yes, I want Marie to give me exclusive access to special promo, secret sales, and limited time deals. Message and data rates apply." Reply stopped out. So then they would check it. We don't text anyone who doesn't check this box. So if you aren't checking this box, you're not going to get a text message from us. Um, we do all kinds of cool like little secret sales. We do um deals that only text message people get. So like that um what was it? This one. This one was um they got it for the $10 for one hour. This was to our texts. Um, you can see here, this was before we implemented I think it was right around the end of July is when we started. Yeah, this was the last text message I think that went out at 6:00 a.m. Um, and it's good to just I mean, yeah, I don't want to be texting people that early in the morning. It makes sense to me. Um, okay.
So, now the other thing is with ManyHat, you can actually collect phone numbers. So, okay, let's talk about the two different ways you can collect phone numbers. Manyhat is one of them. And then you can also um make sure that you have a phone number field in all of your freebies and in all of your um checkouts. So going back here, this is another one you can see here. Um just add this, add the phone number, add the optin in all of your freebies and then on all of your um checkouts. Not a ton of my students don't do this and there's really not a good reason not to. Um some people will choose to opt in, some people will choose to opt out. It's totally fine. um you don't need to, but there's not a good reason to not. And if you're worried like, "Oh, will doing something like this affect my conversions?" No, we have hundreds of students that sign up every single day. We did. And so we have a lot of data. We didn't notice a dip in conversions at all by adding this. We just noticed an increase in sales by sending text messages.
Other thing that you can do is you can collect phone numbers with ManyHat. Um a lot of you guys use ManyHat to collect email addresses. Um you kind of see here, here's one where we're collecting emails, but you can collect phone numbers with ManyHat as well. Um, ManyHat's just an incredible piece of software to get automatic sales. Um, not just automatic phone numbers, not just automatic emails, but automatic phone numbers. And so, I actually created a little something something for you guys. I put together a step-by-step course on how to build a fully automated sales system. So, everything from start to finish. If you want to make sales using ManyHat, so that includes collecting emails, phone numbers, all of that, but more importantly, sales. I don't know about you guys, but I set up Money Chat, not as a hobby, not for fun, not to even get emails or views or whatever. I want Money Chat to make me money. I want it to make me sales around the clock. And so, I kind of show you how it works. I walk you through um how to build it. If you're not tech savvy at all, I'm not actually either. And so, what works really well for me is step-by-step tutorials. So, step one, you're going to do this. Step two, you're going to do this. Step three, you're going to do this. Like almost like a recipe. And that's kind of how I created this course. So, it's really incredible. It it tells you everything that you need to get these automations up and running. It makes what typically is a very complicated process seem very simple. So, if that's something you're interested in, I'm going to drop a link in the description and I'll see you there.
