A lot of people think that psychiatric medications are really different from just normal drugs like alcohol or, you know, drugs of abuse. They're not.
The main reason why people think this is is because there's been a lot of pharmaceutical marketing out there that has convinced the public and convinced doctors that these drugs act on underlying problems. This is so far from the truth.
And the number one thing that a psychiatrist can do to actually use these drugs effectively and helpfully is that they recognize that they're just like alcohol. And that they recognize that the drugs have a very signature chemical effect on the way they affect people. And then once they look at it through that paradigm, they're going to be able to match those up with the symptoms people are having and help them.
They're not going to think that the drug is fixing an underlying condition. Hell no, one thinks that when you drink alcohol, it's fixing your underlying shyness disorder. No, you know, you were informed that you're use you're leveraging a drug effect to help you with specific aspects of your life.
