What trail are you on in this world you live in? What life are you creating within it? It's important to pause, to slow down. Maybe even stop and ask yourself the questions. You skip from sunrise to sunset until you collapse in exhaustion and you do it all again the next day. What path are you on?
You're here at a men's retreat where the focus is on the Bible and Jesus, building relationships and truth, right? But are you being true with yourself? What brought you here? I don't think you made a mistake. You didn't sign up for the wrong retreat, did you? You're here because you want more. You want more than what you've got, what you're living for because something is dying within you. Your heart, your mind, your soul is not being nourished.
In the book of Philippians, Paul tells us to focus our minds on things that are true, honorable, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise. But then he says something that we don't do much of. He says, "Think about these things." That's it. Just think about them. Where are you in that? I mean, really, have you paused and done that lately? Because his next statement is lifechanging. He says to put them in practice and God will be with you.
It seems simple enough, but why doesn't your life show that you do that simple action? If you did, the life you live, this life you created in this crazy world you live in, would look different. It would look rooted, deeply rooted into something you can't fully explain, but you want more of with every breath and every step along the path.
You see, God made you. You are not a mistake. You are seen. You are known. You are valuable. It's not too late. Did you hear me? It's not too late. And it's never too soon. You are a son. You are a friend. You are a husband. You are a dad. You are a boss. You are an employee. You are a man created for more. You just need to get on the path, men. It's time to live rooted.
