The book of Exodus chapter 5. I have a word from God for specific people tonight. God is here because you came seeking a word. Exodus chapter 5. There is something there in verse 1, verse 1 of Exodus chapter 5, that I want to read to you this precious night. I cannot see it because of the lights, but I have the impression that you are all very beautiful. Exodus chapter 5, verse 1 says the following: [Music] Then, in the name of Jesus, after Moses, after this, Moses and Aaron went into Pharaoh's presence and said to him, "Thus says the God of Israel, 'Let my people go, that they may celebrate a feast to me in the wilderness.'" Say that. I will read it to you again. Then Moses and Aaron went into Pharaoh's presence and said to them, "Thus says the God of Israel, 'Let my people go, that they may celebrate a feast to me in the wilderness.'" I am going to ask you to raise your hands where you are and let us worship God for one more minute before I come and give you the word I have for you this precious night. And Father, thank you for this night. We bless your name and continue to acknowledge your greatness and power. You are the God of this place. You are our God. You are our strength. You are our help in tribulations. Therefore, we worship you and bless you tonight. Could someone worship God with freedom from the depths of their heart? Raise your hands, tell Him, "Lord, I worship you tonight. I glorify you tonight." Offer a sacrifice of praise and worship because you are, and your mercy is forever. We fill the air of this entire place worshipping you, and we give the atmosphere of this entire place giving glory and honor to you, Lord. You are the ultimate expression of power. There is no god who can do the works that you do. There is no god who can do the wonders that you do. Therefore, we give glory to your name. If you are grateful to Him, worship Him tonight. If you want Him to be powerful, glorify His name tonight. And if you came expecting a miracle, glorify His name tonight. We say your name. We seal the air of this place worshipping you, Lord. If you are tired, glorify His name. It doesn't matter. Reveal yourself against human nature and tell your soul, "Worship God and do not forget any of His benefits." We worship the healing God, the liberating God, the restoring God, the ultimate expression of power. Glory to your name, Lord, tonight. Activate the genuine worshippers. Activate the genuine worshippers who are in this place. We worship the King. Do not be distracted at this moment. We only worship our Lord. We raise an altar to worship the King, to worship our Savior, to worship our Deliverer, to worship our shield, our strength, our present help in tribulations. Oh, glory to your name! Glory to your name, Lord! Oh, glory to your name! If you feel you cannot worship Him with freedom, do what David did. He said, "Lord, take my soul out of prison so that I may worship your name." With glory, glorify your name. Glory to your name, Lord. Blessed be your name forever. Hallelujah! [Music] Often tonight, Lord, I will speak your word in this place. Speak to this place, speak to the spirit, and speak to the understanding. And declare a word of life, of restoration, a word, Lord, of answer to the people who were waiting for your answer. A word of edification, of consolation, of correction, if necessary. Lift up the fallen. Give strength to the weak. Activate those who are in darkness. Reveal your life plan to them. In the name of Jesus, I declare that this place regains life, that your presence takes control of this entire place. I am in agreement with the warriors and the warriors who are here. Raise your hand, the warrior and the warriors who are here. We establish God's absolute control over this place. We are all forces of darkness. We are all operations of darkness. We nullify the power of darkness. All that increases, all doubt, all distraction, all that wants to prevent your name from being glorified, be rebuked and bound. All forces of darkness become inoperative in this place from this instant, by the merits of our Savior. We are declaring in this hour, the only power authorized to move freely here is the power of Christ Jesus, healing, liberating, filling, saving, lifting the fallen, performing miracles for the glory of your name. [Music] Someone has to decide to give a false applause to the Lord. [Music] Louder applause! [Music] Hallelujah! Before you sit down, greet someone next to you and tell them, "I invite you to my party." I am formally inviting you to my party. [Music] Hallelujah! Take your seats for a moment. [Music] I am going to speak to you for a few minutes. I am going to ask you, in the name of the Lord, please do not be distracted. I am not going to take much of your time. I have a word from God that can bless your life. When I read this verse that I just read with you tonight, something didn't add up for me. Something didn't fit. What led me to read it again and again. Because if you read it well with me, you will find that Moses and Aaron go before Pharaoh and say, "Thus says God, 'Let my people go so that they may celebrate a feast in the wilderness.'" When I read that, I said, "Something is happening here." And it is very likely that what I thought was a desert is not. Because from my perspective, deserts are not for celebrating feasts. In deserts, there are many needs, there are many problems, and many deficiencies. So I said, "Let me see what a desert is." Let me see if, at some point, I understand it better. And that's why when God says He wants to celebrate a feast in the desert, something certain must have to do with another type of jacuzzi. I don't know. Let me see if I read it correctly. I went to read, and this is what I found. A desert is a place or land that is totally uninhabited and unpopulated. It is a place where there is no life. It is a place that is extremely dry. It is a place where it regularly never rains, where it is incredibly hot during the day, but at night it is violently cold. So I said, "Well, I wasn't that far from the definition I thought of a desert." I am seeing that in secular plans, these data I found on the internet. I see that a desert is a dry place. It is the home of the unpopulated. It is a lonely place. It is a place where at night the cold is unbearable, and during the day it is extremely hot. It is a place where there is no way to live. And I said, "But how is it possible that God says He wants to have a feast there?" Then I realized that the Bible has a lot of places where it talks about the desert too. For example, Deuteronomy chapter 32 says that deserts are places of horrible solitude. That is, they describe a desert as a place where there is extreme solitude. The prophet Hosea says in chapter 13 that deserts are places of dry land and are places where there are no fruits. So I am realizing that both the Bible and secular information seem to define deserts as lonely, dry places where there are no fruits. I realized that the prophet Jeremiah said in chapter 2 that deserts are places of the shadow of death, that they are dark places, and that they are unpopulated places. I realized that the same prophet, in Lamentations, a book written by the prophet, says that deserts are unsafe places. So when I put together my biblical and secular research, I come to the definitive conclusion that a desert is a lonely place, a dry place, an unpopulated place, an unsafe place, a place where there is no water, a place where it is incredibly hot, a place where at night the cold is unbearable. And when I see that, it is there that God says to Pharaoh, "Let my people go, because in the desert they will celebrate a feast to me." Then I realized that the only God who would think of celebrating a feast in a place like this is the Almighty God whom we are worshipping tonight. He is a God who does not need things to be in your favor to do what He is. He is a God who, if He said He would do something, will do it, even if hell and no one has mercy. He is a God who does not need help. He is the greatest of all gods in terms of glory. The Lord, tonight! [Applause] So what God is saying is, "I don't care if the place is dry. I don't care if it's unsafe. I don't care if no one lives there. I don't care if it's hot. I don't care if it's an unlivable place. I am the Almighty God. I am saying that there will be a great feast there." What God says is fulfilled. What God establishes is created. What God said will happen, above all that the darkness is great. And I come to tell you tonight, all you need is a word from God. Because if God said something, like a medical diagnosis, a hellish climate, something will change about what God is. Friends, may His name be glorified tonight. To hear this! [Music] Why did we start talking about this? Why did we start talking about this tonight, the first night? Because I have news that at first is not very pleasant, but then you will digest it better. And it is that of all God's creation, God made the seas, and the Bible says in the book of Job that God sets limits to the waves. That is, God says, "This wave cannot go beyond here, and it stops there." God made the animals. God made the stars. Of all that creation, there is only one that is ours, where the Bible says that God regretted having made man. And you would say, "Wow, and what was the problem with us? He made everything and didn't regret making anything else." But when it says He made man, He regretted it. Because God gave man, the human being, you and me, a faculty called free will, or volition, which is the capacity I have to decide what I want to do. I want you to know that God does not put a gun to anyone's head to make them do something. God is a gentleman, and He says in His word, "I am at the door and I knock. If anyone opens, I will enter." It says in His word, "I set before you blessing and curse. Choose the path you want." He is a gentleman. He says, "If I don't know, I don't know. If I knock, and someone opens, I enter." For me to enter, the door must be opened. That is, He is noble, and no one... And what happens? The person has that faculty called free will, or volition, to do what they want. The Bible says that the imaginations and thoughts of the heart of man are continually evil. That is, people always prefer to go the wrong way. People always have a magnet that attracts them to do the wrong thing, to do what does not please God. So what happens with some of you who are here tonight? What happens with some of those who are listening to me, even in your own homes? And it is that there are some people on this earth whose destiny is marked by Him. There are people whom God will use, or will use. There are people who will never escape God. There are people whom God will bring, either by good means or by bad means, but the design says, "I have a plan for him, and I must execute it." So the question is, how do I deal with people whom I want to use, whom I want to bless, for them to fulfill my purpose, but their inclination is regularly evil? That is, those people always want to do their own thing first, they have their own plans. How does God do it? God created a place. God created a place and said, "I will not force them." [Music] "I will not put a gun to their heads, but I assure you that when they leave that place, they will decide for me on their own." God created a place and said, "I will not force them to do anything, but when they take a little walk around there and come out in terrible places, they will be aligned with what I have said about them. They will come out mature. They will come out with the capacity to discern well between good and evil." And that place is called the desert. Say with me: Desert. Many of these. So every person who has a calling from God on this earth, whether they want it or not, whether they like it or not, whether they believe it or not, will have to take a little walk through the desert. Some evangelical formulas of this era are telling you, "Come, you don't need to do that. We will take you directly from Egypt. We will put you in a helicopter. We will take you flying and deposit you in the promised land." That kind of gospel does not exist. It is a lie. It is false. Those kinds of people, when they are in the promised land, not having been exposed to the desert, the first test kills them. The first slander depresses them. They leave the church and never return. The first gossip that is spread against them takes them out of the fight. They never walked the desert. But there is a generation of women and men, some of whom are here today, who were not taken by helicopter. They had to leave Egypt and cross the desert walking. Every time they tell me a whole story, I am capable of saying, "Listen carefully, I know God works in mysteries." I don't know if you are hearing me. I have seen God work in amazing ways. I have seen Him heal. I have seen Him defend me. I have seen Him deliver. As for the glory of that God! [Music] So a Christian who has not gone through the desert is not the same as one who has already gone through the desert. [Music] For Him to bring down someone who has already been exposed to the desert will not be so easy. Those people know that God does strange things to deliver His children. I don't know if you are seeing that. Those people know that God will do whatever it takes to protect His children. I realized that what happens is that when you reach the desert, you don't know it by the word "desert." You don't know it by other words. Some believe it is... others believe it is a joke, and you are not realizing that you are in intensive training because of the calling God gave you. So, just as there are physical deserts, there are also deserts in the spiritual world. How so, pastor? Just as you read that deserts are places of horrible solitude, there are moments here in the church, I'm not going to lie, where you feel alone, even if you have family. There are moments where you feel that no one understands you. There are moments where no one listens to you. There is a moment where, whether you are married or single, with brothers, there are struggles that you have to fight alone, you alone. And I want to tell you, God is not forgetting you. He is taking you for a walk through an area of the desert called solitude. He is training you. He has not abandoned you. Just as the desert is also described in the Bible as a dry place, I want you to know that on the spiritual level, there are moments where you feel dry, where you pray, and you believe that God is not with you. You feel that God is not listening to you. "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God." You feel dry. It doesn't mean God has abandoned you. He is taking you for a walk through an area of the desert called drought. But He is with you, a mighty giant. How much can you worship the glory of the Lord? There is more. There are moments on this path where you will not feel safe. Moments where you will feel betrayed. These are desert areas. I will tell you more. Moments where you will feel sad. Moments where you will battle with sadness that you might not even know where it came from. I will tell you more. There are deserts that have to do with health. I came out of campaigns, and people testified to me, "Pastor, it's terrible. I lived through that night with a word you declared, and then I went home, and my daughter was gravely ill with a high fever. My prayer didn't work. She was supposed to be healed, but I saw people whose prayers didn't work in my house because we had to face deserts of illness. We had to go through things." But why does God allow that? Because there are deserts that have to do with being reproached by others. There are seasons where people start inventing things about you, saying they saw you here, that you did this, that you left that. They start inventing crazy things about you that you have never done, and you say, "Lord, all these are specific desert areas where God is preparing you." Why is He preparing you? Because where you are going, you need to be trained in all areas and you need to be capable in all spheres. God could not risk depositing a glory in your life, a supernatural capacity, so that with the first trials that come, you would get depressed, cry, and say, "God is not with me." God needs you to become an all-terrain vehicle, so that when He provides for you, you say, "God is good," and if He doesn't provide, you say, "He is still good." When you are healthy, you say, "He is God," and if you are not healthy, you say, "He is still God." Who can overthrow Him? No one! [Music] From this perspective, the desert is not a misfortune. The desert is a place that God uses to form my character. It is a place of violence for growth. And I preached here in my country for 13 consecutive years, and I went through things you cannot imagine. I faced unprecedented, critical situations, slander, personal situations, conflicts. My soul was afflicted many times, and I didn't understand that desert. But you know what happens now? Now I am a pastor in a city in Florida, USA, and I have 24 different nationalities in my church: Colombians, Venezuelans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Hondurans, Guatemalans, Americans, Haitians, twenty-something nationalities. You know what happens? Every time someone comes with a serious problem, crying, telling me, "I can't take it anymore, I want to take my life," and starts explaining what is happening to them, it connects in my mind and I say, "Santo Domingo, 2006, you faced this situation. You were in this same position. Remember how I delivered you." In fact, I now have the ability to anticipate and tell people, "Last night I didn't sleep thinking about such and such a thing." "Wow, you were there?" "No, no, I took a little walk through your desert, and now I am here to help you." So I don't know if you are hearing me. That desert I was facing was not destroying my life. It was God training me because one day He would need me to help and impart and minister to others. So there are some of you who are facing situations today, and I come to encourage you and tell you, "Be strong. God has not forgotten you. God is equipping you because your assignment is great." I assure you that in a matter of time, you will laugh at that situation. In a matter of time, you will become strong. You will realize that you are resistant to everything, and that He cannot bring you down with anything that tries to rise up. And that will give you a foundation in the God you believe in. How many can worship the glory of God tonight? [Music] If you read the Bible, there is not a single place where more miracles were seen than in the desert. In that place, the sea divided. In that place, food fell from heaven. In that place, water appeared from the rock. In that place, people grew with all their clothes, their feet grew with all their shoes. They saw unprecedented miracles. So if one day they talk to you realistically about the desert, they will tell you, "Be careful, because I saw miracles of all kinds there." It is the place where you learn to know the healing God. It is the place where you learn to know the God of love, the God who liberates, the God who restores. It is not the same to stand on a pulpit and say, "Hey, calm down, God will do it," as when you say, "I am an example that God can do it because He already did it in my house and He did it with me." I have women in my church who cried, saying, "Pastor, pray for me. My children are at four in the morning, getting high in the streets." And I told them, "God will do it." We prayed, and those women of spirit, then God restored the children, and now they are part of the church. Now, when a mother starts facing the same situation, I send her to this servant and say, "Go attack. Show them that God can do it because He already did it with you." And those people go and tell them, "Look me in the eyes. I don't know what time your son is coming home, but mine used to come home at four in the morning, delivered, and the Almighty God restored him, changed him, cleaned him." So if He did it with me, He will do it with you. Be strong. How many can worship the glory? [Music] Louder applause! I read a story yesterday morning, I need to refresh my memory and read it, about a man in the Bible named Jacob. The Bible says that God had a great plan for that man, even to the point that the day he was blessed by his God, because God had determined it, that day the blessing fell upon him, his own brother, father and mother, threatened him with death and said, "As the Lord lives, I will tear your head off for having taken a blessing that was mine." The Bible says more. It says that their mother saw the conflict between her sons and told Jacob, "My son, leave here, because your brother will kill you." So if you look at that picture, it's talking about a man named Jacob who has a brother, a brother who is threatening him with death, and the brother was a dangerous type. Number one. Number two, he has a mother who tells him, "Leave this house because your brother will kill you, and I won't be able to defend you. You have to grab your belongings and leave." Do you know where? Neither does he know where. Because now you have a GPS on your cell phone, and before, it didn't exist. He told his mother, "Where am I going?" She said, "Look, I have a brother. Try to find him. He is your uncle." There is no photo to say, "Show me him." "I don't know if he looks like me. Look for him." So he had to leave without direction, without GPS. Imagine the frustration this poor man is facing. "I'm kicked out of my own house. My own brother wants to kill me. I don't know where to go. I have no home. I have to abandon my land where I grew up, the school where I studied, the neighborhood where I grew up, and now I have to go to a place I don't even know where I'm going." Someone like five deserts: solitude, depression, bitterness. And he walks and cries on the road. Night falls. He gets terribly sleepy, depressed, very sad. And in the middle of the night, he sees a place and says, "Let me lie down here to continue my route tomorrow." He sees a stone there and puts it as a pillow. He lies down, starts to sleep. While he is sleeping, he has visions of God, of a ladder with one end in heaven and the other end on earth. He begins to see angels going up and down the ladder. Above the ladder, he hears the voice of the Almighty God saying, "Jacob, do not fear. I am the God of your grandfather Abraham, and I am the God of your father Isaac, and now I am your God. This land where you are lying is yours. I give it to you. I am making a covenant with you. Whoever rises against you will have to face me. I will be your God. No one will be able to stand against you. I am telling you, I will not leave you until I have fulfilled everything I have done." I want you to look at this. I want you to look at this. The man wakes up and says, "Wow, I just had an experience with God. I just heard God tell me that He is my God. I just heard God tell me that He will defend me. I just heard God tell me that the land where I am is mine, that He gave it to me. I just heard God tell me that He will never leave me until He fulfills everything He promised me." There is only one detail, pastor, that caught my attention in that chapter, and it is that if you analyze Jacob's story, even though he lived in a man's house, he was not born of the earth, there is no record of God appearing to him before to speak with him. God never spoke to him in that house. God never spoke to him through his mother or his father. God never saw him, not even in the church he went to, nor in school. In the worst moment of his life, crying, sad, with a death threat, with a place where he didn't know where he would sleep, facing what seemed like the worst misfortune of his life, he has an experience with the Almighty God. So that desert was not a bad thing. The desert was a divine appointment. He thought it was the worst of his life, when in reality it was the best of his life that he was facing. In reality, for the first time, he saw God. In reality, he saw angels going up and down. He thought that was the worst, but it was not the worst, it was the best. And I come to speak to people who are facing hard battles, who have been crying, "Pastor, there are problems in my finances, problems in my health, problems in my spiritual reality, problems..." He has made you believe that it is the worst thing happening to you, and I come to tell you that it is not the worst. It is a divine appointment, and in that desert, you will celebrate. Praise God! And in this hour, there will be celebration. Praise God! God will speak to you. He will observe you. How much can you worship the glory of God? Holy! [Music] If one day, [Music] If one day Jacob were to write a book, I say he would say, "Ladies and gentlemen, I want to let you know something. What I thought was the worst of my life actually became the best of my life. What I thought was being kicked out of my house and crying without knowing where to go was an appointment, an excuse for God to meet me on the road. What happens is that I was crying so much that I was not able to see that around me there was a purpose." And that trial, I come to tell you, do not be a victim anymore. The Lord said, "What do you want to teach me in this process? What is the lesson? You are not going to leave me. Something I have to learn." When I played baseball, I lived here in Haina, and I played baseball. That was all I did. All my strength was there in learning to play. I would go at 6 in the morning to the field to run. I would go to the hills to work on my legs without eating. There wasn't much to eat. Working hard. I would grab a large tire from a truck and tie it behind me with a suitcase strap to work my legs day and night until I received the Lord in my heart. And when I received God in my heart, in 1999, the end of '98, I started seeking God, going to church, seeking His face. I would vigil every Friday and sleep under the temples, under the benches, and I would pray for five or six hours a day. At that time, I had to be a scout, which is to go so that a team would see me. I had already done a lot, and that day, finally, finally! [Music] A team made me an offer. Finally, they sat with me and my agent and said, "We can give you $61,000." Now it's three pesos, but at that time it was a lot of money. [Music] They started arguing. They didn't give me many details, but what I knew, because I was very young then, what I knew was that in 19 days they would sign the contract, and that I would be signed. But you know, I was praying those days, 7 hours a day, helping, praying. So I said, "Let me see what I'm going to do with this money." And I went to a place where many of you have gone to pray, others still go, which is in Najayo, where the old woman is. I said, "I'm going to go so that God can indicate to me what I'm going to do with this money." I took my public water, stayed in San Cristóbal, and then took a motorcycle. The motorcycle got a flat tire. I waited, I fixed it, I got on. When I got on, the old woman didn't die, and she told me, "If you want, you can leave today." I said, "But what did I do wrong here? I'm with my bag. I have permission from my pastor. If you want to see me today, you're not going to stay here." I said, "Here is the letter from my pastor. Besides, she knew me. I have come here. I have never caused trouble. I have come here to pray for ten, fifteen, twenty days." She said, "Thus says God: On the way, when your motorcycle got a flat tire, it was for you to know that it is I who am speaking to you." I said, "And then God says that you are not authorized to sign that contract. You were not born on this earth to play baseball. You were born to preach my word and take it to the nations." So don't even think about it! [Music] If there is something I admire, long for, and miss about new believers, it is that the new believer doesn't ask so many questions. God tells you, "Do this," and in three minutes, you are doing it. You have been in the gospel for 20 years, and God tells you, "Do this," and you want an angel to be sent with an ID card and a photo for you to confirm that it is God. So the old woman told me that. It hurt me. I cried a little there. I went back. What do you think happened when I got home? I told my mom, "I'm not going to sign that contract." But look, son, stop drinking. Even though you are very young. I said, "God spoke to me, and God doesn't want me playing baseball." She said, "Go and tell God that He made a mistake, that we have supported you all your life, and you can't come with that story now." I said, "I'm not going to sign that because God already told me no." And conflicts began. They told me I was crazy. They looked for a psychologist. They threatened my pastor, saying, "That pastor is brainwashing you. This is madness." I said, "No." They said, "Yes." What you don't know is that the money hadn't arrived yet, and they had already divided the money. Pastor, my sister has a beauty salon, and one of my brothers had a hardware store, and they praised him, and I'm sorry, it hasn't arrived yet. So this man decides he's not going to sign, and you don't know the problem he's caused. They looked for a psychologist. I said, "To guide me." The psychologist spoke with me, and I told him, "It was God." He said, "Why do you think God speaks to people?" I said, "But of course, He speaks." He said, "The market is full of people. God can speak to me too." The psychologist told my mom, "This boy is crazy. He's sick. He thinks God speaks to him, and that's a dangerous case. It could be schizophrenia." So what they did was, to put hard pressure on me, they kicked me out of the house. So I grabbed my backpack. They told me, "You're leaving here. Either you sign, or you leave. But it's not true that you're going to insult us with that nonsense." I said, "God told you." And I grabbed my backpack with the three t-shirts I had and left. I was crying the whole way. I didn't understand. I was too new to say, "But what kind of God are you, that at the moment I need you most, you make me get kicked out? You don't let me sign, and you don't let me have my family. Is it that you are angry with me?" Very frustrated. Everything for me was the worst of my life. As I walk crying on the road, a man arrives in a 1992 red Toyota Corolla. I know all those details because I can buy that car. And he said to me, "Hey, aren't you the new baseball player from the church?" And I said, "Where are you going?" He said, "Where are you going?" I said, "I don't even know." And he said, "What happened to you?" And he invited me to get in, and I explained, "Look, I'm a baseball player. They were going to sign me. I said God doesn't want it. My mom kicked me out of my house, and I don't know where to go." He said, "Give me a minute." He got out of the car and called his wife. They argued there. "Look, this baseball player's situation... if we give him an opportunity to stay at the house for a few days." It seems the owner said no, but he said yes. "If not, I know he doesn't look like a Christian, but let's help him. That's quick and good." They escorted me and let me stay there for a while. They took me to their house. He was a deacon of the church. Now he is a pastor. We started the church in Carrizo. Pastor Claudio Feliz, many of you know him. We did many campaigns with him. Claudio picked me up in his car and said, "You're going to my house with me." And he took me to his house. And I was there. He had a small room up on the third floor that hadn't been finished, but at least it had a door. He said, "It's not the best in the world, but at least you're not on the street." We looked for a small bed. I slept there. I spent my days crying, missing my family, saying, "Lord, not even a kiss for my family. What is happening?" In those days, I would go down to eat at Claudio's house. He told his niece, "Serve him food. He's the new one from the church." And the niece gave me food. Then he told his niece, "Give him some water." I don't have all the time to tell the story. I can only tell you in summary that that niece of his is now my wife. Listen, my wife is the pastor with me, and for me, she is the mother of my two children who were born in the church. In the hard times, she helped me because she had the tools to lift me up. She helped me to sustain myself in the ways of the Lord. So what I thought was the worst misfortune I was facing was an appointment to find my wife. No, I don't think you are hearing me.
