One of the things that can be considered fair, no matter who we are, is that we all have 24 hours a day. It is very easy for us to find good books. Sharing insights from successful people who have gone before us on how to use this time effectively will be really great. If we learn how to manage time appropriately and most effectively for ourselves, we can then apply those lessons to our lives.
However, there is one thing that perhaps few people pay attention to: besides the great things we should do, the things that we should not do also play a huge role in our success. Today, I will share with you five things that I see many of us making mistakes on, which waste a huge amount of time in our lives.
Hello everyone, nice to see you back to Phung An's Podcast. For those who are new to my podcast, this will be the place where I share my knowledge of personal development and life experiences. Hello everyone again.
First of all, I see a lot of people making this mistake, and sometimes I myself also encounter this situation: we are living too much in the past. Each of our pasts has joys and sorrows. The older we get, the more these things gradually increase over the years.
Did you know that in every day we have 60 to 70,000 thoughts? If we cannot control our thoughts in many cases, it's easy for these thoughts to make us think forever. Sometimes, thoughts have no beginning or end; they're just streams of thoughts passing by. We can even forget them right away.
The thing that we think must have a past is almost passive, but our thinking is very active. If we do not actively think about positive things, then it is likely that we will think about negative things, mistakes, or failures in the past. Because of the operating mechanism of our brain, we will think of situations that help us stay safe.
It's really funny that there are things we think will never happen because we think too much, which creates anxiety. But you know, that anxiety, as well as negative emotions, consumes a lot of our energy. Thinking about the past is not right; it is bad.
For example, if I look back at my past failures to learn lessons and experiences so that I don't repeat similar mistakes in the future, that can be good. However, we must also be aware that after we have learned from our lessons, we need to eliminate these thoughts from our minds. This line of thinking greatly affects our current emotions.
So how can we free ourselves from these negative thoughts when we think negatively about ourselves? A pretty good way I shared in some previous posts is practicing gratitude. I discussed this in detail in Podcast episode 13 about the benefits of gratitude. I will leave the link below for your reference.
In general, we have many good things that sometimes we don't realize. The things that we think are obvious are sometimes someone's dream. For example, if you have a healthy body without any illness, that is also someone's dream. Or if we still have a house to live in, that is very possible; it is also the dream of someone who has to sleep on the street.
When I practice gratitude, I see that in this life there are still many good things. For me, this is how I apply and practice, and it has changed my thinking a lot. So if you are in a situation where you think too much about the past or even the future, you can refer to this method of mine.
The second thing is procrastination. Guys, there is a thought that I see all of us encounter at least once in our lives: the thought that we are not good enough to do something or that this is not the right time for us to do something. This thought takes up a lot of our time.
We can think day after day, even month after month. There is a common mentality among many people, which is to think that the knowledge they have will be known by many people. But the truth is, it is not like that. There are a lot of people who don't know what you know.
The truth is that I have experienced that feeling because knowledge is so vast. Each of us humans is in different fields, so there will not be time for everyone to learn the things that you know. Sometimes, allow yourself a chance to try it out.
I'm sure that among you and your friends who are listening to my podcast, there will be many people who will say something about me, even a lot about the fields and life experiences that I am sharing. But if I still have the thought that I am not good enough to do it, there wouldn't be podcasts like the ones I'm sharing here.
There is really no perfect time for us to start because opportunities are born when we start doing it. During the process, we may not meet success right away, but one thing is for sure: you will see that your feelings will be better than yesterday.
When I look back at myself, I feel like I'm improving every day. That's a very happy feeling, guys. No matter what the results are in the future, I know that I have tried my best with what I have done.
About this idea, you can also refer to my Podcast episode 3. I will leave the link below the description. The third thing is probably a very common issue: we do not dare to refuse in life. More or less, you will meet people who always go to every party and attend every event.
Sometimes the truth is that they don't always have money. They even have to borrow money to participate in those events because they are afraid that refusing will make them lose money or lose heart in relationships. Actually, these things are not necessary, guys.
You just need to try to experience a few failures to understand. Even there are people who fail with nothing; they will understand what I'm saying. There won't be any friends in your parties or drinking sessions to help you. Sometimes, when you call those people in difficult times, they don't answer the phone.
In these stages, you will filter a lot of those relationships and learn many lessons. At that time, you will think back to those useless games or times when we were afraid to refuse them. It is useless.
So sometimes we need to boldly refuse unnecessary relationships, relationships that can be considered negativity that makes our lives go downhill. That's okay, guys. There are times when we will see that life has many good things and is more precious.
I know that sometimes refusing is very difficult, not easy. But later, I realized that whether I refuse or not depends largely on whether I want to or not. If I want it, it's very difficult to refuse. But if I don't want it, I believe I will find a way.
The fourth thing is the waste of your time when you compare yourself to others. We all have our own joys and sorrows and different circumstances. In this day and age, social media has a huge impact on all of our emotions.
There are people who post a lot on different social media platforms, and probably no one posts negative things about themselves. Generally, they will post things that they want others to see from them. If we do not have a more general perspective, we will see that the lives of these people seem perfect.
These feelings are born from the psychology of comparing ourselves to others. We think, "Others are like this, and I am like that." Even worse is when couples compare themselves with other couples, which makes married life gradually become unhappy.
We all have different lives, different circumstances, relationships, and jobs. I am sure that each of us has our own joys, happiness, and sadness that are different, even different kinds of suffering. If you want to understand more about the origin of suffering, you can learn more about the Four Noble Truths of Buddha Shakyamuni.
You will understand more or less, and I believe that the psychology of comparison will gradually disappear in you. The last waste that I want to share with you is also the result of the second thing: dissatisfaction with our current life.
This dissatisfaction arises when we compare too much. It creates dissatisfaction within ourselves, and we will see that this life is not fair. From there, it will give birth to sadness in life, and we will be immersed in disappointment and frustration because we think we are not as good as others.
But there is a truth: if we keep a mindset like that, we will always find something to blame. For example, we might think, "It's because of this situation," or "Other people are luckier than me," or "They have more relationships than I do," and so on.
When I have such a mindset, I will never think that somewhere there is my fault in it anymore. What happens if you have these thoughts every day? The head will probably feel very bad if this continues, right?
Through today's sharing, I hope that these insights will be useful to you. These are not things that I can change in a day or two; it will be a process of self-training. I also have to practice every day.
And today's podcast, I will stop here. If you find this information useful, don't forget to like and subscribe to the channel to help me bring these values to more people. Don't forget to share them with your loved ones if you find them helpful.
That was helpful, guys. Now, I wish everyone a happy and peaceful evening. Goodbye and see you again.
