Five things about forgiveness:
The Bible tells us in Ephesians chapter 4, verse 32, that we have to forgive one another as God in Christ has forgiven us.
In order to forgive others, we must understand that forgiveness is not minimizing somebody's wrong. It's not overlooking somebody's wrong. It's not taking the blame for somebody's wrong.
Secondly, forgiveness is not waiting for an apology. Jesus did not wait for the Pharisees to apologize before he forgave them on the cross.
Thirdly, forgiveness is not reconciliation. It takes two to reconcile—two people to repent to reconcile. But you can forgive without ever experiencing reconciliation, though forgiveness many times will lead to reconciliation.
The fourth thing is forgiveness is not an option; it's a command.
And the last thing is forgiveness doesn't change the past, but it will enlarge your future.
