I have tested many schemes for quick learning, and they were quite effective. I also talked about them on my channel. But recently, I found a scheme that can take your learning to a completely different level. This will not be my fantasies but the results of large-scale scientific research focused on the speed of material acquisition and retention.

I will discuss all the components in order, so I advise you to watch the video from start to finish.

The first component is finding opportunities to optimize your time and habits. In simpler terms, when you look for additional opportunities for development and use that time wisely. I applied this tactic when I was in college. I had free time during breaks, at lunch, or when I was commuting home. Initially, it seems that this time is not much, but if you add up all those periods, it amounts to several hours that you can direct towards something useful.

Many students used their travel time playing games, listening to music, or chatting about completely useless topics. I, on the other hand, used that time to read and listen to books. As a result, in a year, I could read 30 or even 60 books just by optimizing my time.

You might ask, "Do I really need to develop all the time? Can't I just relax?" Of course, you can relax and use your time however you see fit. However, for me personally, it was a good time that I could use for self-improvement. Some might say this is nonsense. "What if I only have 10 minutes of free time? What's the point of reading for just 10 minutes a day?"

This is where the answer to the first component lies. You don’t need a lot of time; every minute counts. Don’t believe me? Let me show you a mathematical example that illustrates this case.

Suppose your goal is to study a specific field, say programming. For this, you read exactly five pages every day. We equate this effort to one unit in our formula, which is 1.1. In a year, we have 365 days, so we raise it to that number and get 37. Over the entire year, reading five pages a day, we accumulate only 37 points, which reflect our development speed. Many consider this as a financial coefficient.

Suppose that by studying programming for a whole year, reading five pages daily, you earned only 37 dollars. But now, here’s the interesting part. Let’s add just two hundredths to our efforts. Let’s optimize our time a bit and say that in addition to reading, we also take courses for 20 minutes a day.

As a result, when we raise 1.1 to the power of 3, we get a whopping 48,000 dollars, or 48,000 points as our development coefficient. By adding minimal improvement to our development process, we enhance it by 1,000 times. In the long term, every new optimization and every new improvement in the learning approach will lead to such enormous growth in progress.

If we add another hundredth, say working with code, then the old 48,000 turns into 1,600,000. Each new action, each new optimization, significantly improves the results. But this all works specifically in the long term, and moreover, it relates to the speed of learning.

What if I just have a problem remembering everything? This is where we use the second component from the large-scale scientific research. It states that many factors influence the study of material and knowledge retention, but scientists have identified the most important components.

What are these components? They are the volume of practice, the time elapsed since its application, and the temporal distribution of practice. The last factor is the most important for quick learning and retention.

But what does this mean, and how can we apply it? Research has shown that when we space out our practice repetitions, it slows down the learning process, but the knowledge will be retained much deeper.

Have you ever noticed that if, for example, you practice typing on a keyboard, it is much more effective to practice for 10 minutes several times a day rather than doing one long session for an entire hour? So why don’t we do the same with courses or books? It is much more effective to read a book several times a day for 10 minutes than to read it once a day for several hours.

Now, here’s a mind-blowing comparison. They compared a group of people studying material in long sessions with a group studying the same material in several short sessions. It was found that active recall decreased with longer learning sessions. But as soon as you take the same material and break it into smaller sessions, that same information is absorbed much better and faster.

Now, here’s another mind-blowing fact. Similar studies were conducted on rodents. As we know, based on analyzing their behavior, we can determine how humans might behave. Scientists discovered that when a mouse was placed in a maze, it quickly found the location of the reward, and interestingly, on average, it did this after 10 attempts.

Later, they found that the learning speed increased specifically in those mice that rested between each new attempt to find the reward in the maze. Scientists noted that it was during the rest period that they gained insight and sudden understanding of the maze's structure.

If you’re like a rodent, you might have experienced this too—struggling to solve a problem for a long time, then stepping away for 15 minutes, taking a shower, and suddenly understanding the entire structure of the project and all possible solutions to the problem. Personally, I’ve had this happen many times. Now, let’s summarize and consider the second component with a time code. Personally, during my breaks, I take a book and spend about 20 minutes reading. Then, if I get tired of reading, I continue with my other activities. If I feel a bit tired again, I pick up the book and just chill on the couch while reading.

Let’s also add a third study that shows that complete understanding of the material typically comes after the tenth attempt or the tenth learning session. If I personally don’t understand some material, I look at different sources, videos, and articles in each learning session. This allows me to accelerate my learning even more.

And the last thing that significantly improves this scheme is the time optimization from the first component in the time code. Optimizing time allows for short sessions, which also improves the speed of learning by several times.
