**Summary of Key Points:**
1. **Starting Small**: It’s crucial to begin with small, manageable walks to build confidence and capacity while considering safety in terms of environment and condition.
2. **Psychological Considerations**: Addressing anxiety and depression is vital when initiating physical activity. Engaging in enjoyable activities that promote well-being can provide motivation and help mitigate feelings of fear regarding movement.
3. **Support Systems**: Importance of support from healthcare professionals and encouragement from friends or family can significantly contribute to the success of starting a new exercise routine.
4. **Nutrition and Medication**: Exploring the role of nutrition and medication, particularly in terms of anti-inflammatory options, can enhance one’s ability to engage in physical activities comfortably.
5. **Finding What Works for You**: Everyone's journey is personal; thus it is essential to find activities, medications, and support systems that resonate with you to foster both physical and mental health.
Thank you all for your insights, and let’s continue this conversation with additional questions from the audience.
My diet and, as eventually, that's fine. I have found things that have helped me, and as the others have said, I have lost weight just by walking. It wasn't intentional, but my diet has been proven, and I have done some weight as well. All things that helped. Brilliant! Two for the price of one on the podcast. There, as you see, a bit of distraction, a bit of enjoyment, and educational as well. That's awesome.
Um, Peter, I'll come to you just for this last part of the session with the same thing. Have you got any advice to anyone as to add to their physical activity?
No, um, what has been said already. I'm, in my own experience with pain, I think I did mention this earlier, that prior to entering into the trial, I was not sleeping well at night. I was waking up with pain in my knee, and I was taking some low-level medication, which I hate doing.
Um, but once the trial started, I stopped that. In fact, I stopped waking up with pain during the night, which was a relief. But I know that there are a lot of natural supplements out there, and people take them. If they have a placebo effect, well, that's fine. But, um, I didn't do anything special. Medication was while I was entering into the main part of the trial.
Thank you very much, and thank you very much to all our panelists. That comes to the end of our session today.
Um, thanks for everyone who's joined us in the audience. As I say, thank you to our panelists, and thank you to Tasha as well. We will be recording a third volume of this Flipping Arthritis series that we'll send to you via email. It will be me and Tasha pre-recording that.
Um, so you will see in the chat box just now a link to a feedback form. We'd love it if you could spend five minutes telling us what you think about today's things we can do for future events. Your feedback makes our future events better, so we'd love to hear from you. Please let us know.
You can also get in touch with us in other ways. You can access us on social media at FlippinPain across the board. You can also email us at info@flippinpain.com.uk, and you can head to our website as well. They say the QR code as well, so if you've not got access to the link and you want an even easier way to access it, cover your smartphone over that QR code with the camera option available on your phone, and that'll take you to the survey as well.
We'll leave that up for a second and then we'll put our email and website details just here as well. The website that we've mentioned, Celia mentioned previous webinars and podcasts; you can find those all at flippinpain.co.uk.
Thank you very much for joining us, and have a great rest of the day. Thanks, everyone. Bye-bye!
