Hello everyone!

My name is Nikita Bunin. I am an expert in the field of 1C and have been implementing these systems for over 10 years. Today, I want to talk about how to properly manage accounting in the 1C system.

In particular, we will look at the nomenclature directory, which is present in almost any 1C configuration.

Watch this video until the end to learn about the nomenclature directory within the system.

1. What are the pitfalls?

2. I will share several life hacks on how to simplify the input of nomenclature and how to partially automate the input of nomenclature using standard tools and a developed methodology within the company.

I recommend consulting with a 1C specialist who has considerable experience in implementing such systems. The system should help manage accounting, guide people, and provide all necessary analytics to owners and managers so they can stay informed and make timely adjustments.

So, let's get started!

I already have the demo version of the 1C configuration for comprehensive automation open. I have opened the nomenclature directory.

Let's take a look. In previous videos, I talked about how important system settings are for accurate accounting within the 1C program. If you haven't watched that video, be sure to check it out on my channel.

In my opinion, there is one very important setting regarding the product directory: the management of characteristics. We either enable these characteristics during setup because we have decided they are necessary for accounting, or we choose to forgo them for some reason.

Now, in just a few words, I will explain what characteristics are and why they are used.

I have the demo configuration of 1C comprehensive automation open with data from the developers. Here we see that there is a type of nomenclature: jeans.

Let's take a look at men's jeans. If we click on the button to go to the card, we see the characteristics section.

Let's go in here. In fact, a characteristic is a separate directory within the system that stores a set of properties for a given product. In our case, jeans have color and size.

In the list of characteristics, we see all possible variations of colors and sizes. Essentially, color and size are additional attributes that are collected in a separate element of the directory, referred to as a property.

This is the first point regarding characteristics within the system. All these variations need to be created.

Next, I opened a customer order. Let's say we have ordered these jeans. What does the sales manager do? They click the button to add jeans.

In the next column for characteristics, they need to select the set of properties that may have already been created. Characteristics are an additional block in all documents related to sales and products, plus in all reports concerning products.

So, besides needing to select what type of nomenclature it is—jeans—they also need to choose the set of these properties in a separate column.

Let me also show you how reports look when using characteristics. For example, we need a report on warehouse balances.

Let's take the report on products in warehouses. We generate this report and see that we have jeans in the central warehouse. Along with the jeans, the characteristics are listed next to the product position.

What if we need to see how many specific size L blue jeans we have in stock? First, I don't see this setting in the header.

Okay, let's dive into the advanced settings. We see that the nomenclature position is indicated, which is why we only see jeans. Unfortunately, I don't see the characteristics here.

Let's add this filter.

Alright, we need size L blue jeans. We open this, and for some reason, we see a list not only related to jeans, as I understand it.

Well, we need blue, so we select blue.

This is what is called an additional setting that not everyone likes. Some prefer to combine everything into one position so that we only indicate the nomenclature in all documents and only the nomenclature in reports, and so on.

Now, I will talk about the second option without using characteristics.

Let's go back to the nomenclature directory. I have created several types of products in the system. Let's start with drills.

In fact, we also have certain characteristics of the product in the tool. These include brand, manufacturer, series, sizes, and more.

In this case, we see that all the necessary characteristics are contained in the product name. For some, this option is more convenient.

I understand that characteristics are also used for website integration, so we can have specific filters on the site. For example, we need to filter jeans in size XL that we like in blue color.

To quickly find the product I need, I should use the filters on the website.

It is clear that we cannot just place these filters in the product name and use them comfortably.

Of course, there may be complex algorithms that can parse the name and identify the product based on certain attributes, but in my opinion, this is not an optimal solution.

I have tried to explain as clearly and simply as possible what characteristics are, why they are used, and why some companies do not use characteristics in their systems.

If you have any questions or something is unclear, write in the comments, email me, or message me on Telegram. I will answer all questions.

Now, let's return to our nomenclature directory. Here we see that I have created two types of products: drills and metal scissors, specifically for demonstrating optimal input methods.

Let's imagine that our company sells tools. I have already created two types of nomenclature in the system: drills and metal scissors.

I also want to emphasize that we have two main categories: types of nomenclature and groups, also known as folders.

Types and groups should not duplicate each other. In our example, we have types: drills and metal scissors. This allows us to quickly find all drills and all metal scissors in the system.

However, if I want to quickly find all tools in the system, I switch to the hierarchical view.

You saw in the video how I did this. I clicked on the gear icon, quickly switched to the hierarchical view of nomenclature, and selected the group "tools." Now I see all the tools we have in the system.

In the new types, I have made certain settings. It is very important that these settings are based on the methodology we adopted within the company.

We decided that this is how we will form product names, specifically for drills. For metal scissors, we have a different methodology, and for jeans, possibly a third methodology.

We indicate some information in the product name and some we do not, so that the name does not become excessively long.

Characteristics can be stored within the product card without being included in the name.

There should be a specific scheme that is best developed in collaboration with a 1C specialist.

Let's reinforce this with another example of metal scissors.

To create a type of nomenclature, we click the create button. This is convenient for the user, as they do not have to think about the algorithm for forming the name to avoid duplication and ensure clarity.

We simply prompt the user to select the type of scissors they are creating.

Let’s say it will be right-handed. We indicate the manufacturer and brand. The origin is optional.

Let’s also specify the group. As far as I remember, length is also involved in forming the name of the metal scissors.

Let’s choose the length for this position. Let’s say it will be 370 mm.

We click the save button and close it.

Now we have a new position for metal scissors with the brand, information about whether they are right or left-handed, and their length.

The user does not waste time pondering the methodology, which has been established in the company and laid out in the settings.

They can quickly create a new product position.

That’s all for today. If you have any questions regarding nomenclature characteristics, how to input everything correctly, or what methodology should be used, write to me in the comments, email me, or message me on Telegram.

I will definitely answer all questions.

In the next videos, I will show how to create product positions more efficiently, whether there are 1, 2, 5, or 100 products, and how to quickly create these positions within the system.

Of course, we will need to use other tools or possibly customizations.

I will share my vision.

Be sure to subscribe to the channel, like, and share this video on social media with your colleagues, friends, and acquaintances to support the channel so I can post more frequently and provide higher quality content.

That’s all for today. Thank you all! Goodbye!
