But I'd seen and heard what my dad had gone through and the impact of all of that. And I just knew that I had to give back some way. But I knew also that they'd stripped him of his belonging. And I was going to give back to him and his family and everyone else at that time.
I'm currently working at Hills for High School as a language teacher, teaching Warrior on of my people. There were untrue people at the moment. We're working on props for our school performance by our eighth Indigenous Studies class. The play is based on a war and recreation story, and it's called "How the Bell Rung" or "The Error Was Created."
For me to have this wonderful opportunity now to teach language is that passage that in time that we were able to allow the children of this generation to not only learn the country, not only learn about the culture, but also know the language and how important it is. Because we are about, you know, educating everyone. And if we share what knowledge has been handed down from all over those years, when then we hope that that can bring a much more harmonious community.
And I think to the other thing with language is the power that it has.
