Hi, I'm Tim from napster.com, and today we're going to cover what to do if your LG TV's red light is blinking and your TV won't turn on.  Six possible fixes are briefly covered below.  For more details on any of them, check the linked article in this video's description.

A blinking red light on your LG TV usually means there's a problem with the power supply, power board, or main board. First, check if your TV is running a software update. A flashing red light is a potential sign of an update, but it should only last a few minutes. If, after 10 minutes or so, the light is still blinking, the software update might be stuck.  Try power cycling your TV: switch it off, unplug it, hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds, wait at least 30 minutes, plug it back in, and try turning it on again. For most people, this will fix it.

If that doesn't work, examine your HDMI cables. A poorly seated cable might be automatically switching inputs but, not being fully connected, isn't supplying signals.  Remove all HDMI cables, clean them, and try different HDMI ports. If the blinking red light persists after removing all HDMI cables and trying the TV's button, it's almost certainly not an HDMI cable issue. If your TV works fine without the HDMI cables, the problem is likely with HDMI CEC settings. This is pretty common. With all HDMI cables removed, switch off HDMI CEC (Simplink on LG) in Settings > General > Simplink. Reconnect your HDMI cables afterward.

If the problem isn't with HDMI, check your TV and remote. If you've only used your remote, a stuck button or low batteries might be the issue. Remove your remote from the room (if it's an RF remote, line of sight isn't needed; place it a couple of rooms away to prevent connection) and try the TV's physical buttons.  Also, check your wall socket voltage. Voltage fluctuations, or problems with a smart plug or surge protector, might prevent your TV from receiving stable voltage. Remove any surge protectors or smart plugs, ensuring a direct connection to the wall socket. Try a different wall socket and a different device of similar size to test the voltage.

Inspect the power cord for damage. Kinks or knots might increase electrical resistance, preventing your TV from receiving the correct voltage. Try a new power cord and check the TV's port for dirt, dust, or corrosion.

so a blink red light your LG TV usually
means that there's a problem with the

first of all though just check that your
TV isn't running a software update
a flashing red light with the TV is a
potential sign that is updating and it
but it should only last for a few

if you waited 10 minutes or so the light
is still blinking then it's possible the
software update has encountered a
problem and is stuck in a loop
so you can try to power cycle your TVs
reset it
switch off and unplug your TV then hold
down the physical power button for at
least 15 seconds
wait for at least 30 minutes for any
residual power to drain from the TV's
capacitors
then plug your TV back on back in and
try switching it on again
and see if that for most people that
will usually fix it
if that doesn't work then try
um look at your HDMI cables so it's
possible that a poorly seated cable
is automatically switching inputs but as
it's not fully connected it's not
supplying signals so it looks like your
TV isn't working
so take all your HDMI cables out you can
clean them and try putting them into a
different HDMI ports
um
But ultimately if you take out all of
your HDMI cables and then try switching
your TV on using the button on the TV
and you're still seeing the
blinking red light
then it's almost certainly not a problem
with HDMI cables if
if your TV works fine without the HDMI
cables in
then it's probably a floor with the HDMI
CAC settings that's stopping your TV
carry on properly
so this is pretty common what you'll
need to do with all your HDMI cables
taken out you'll need to switch off HDMI
CEC
which is called simplink on LG so you'll
find that in settings General and then
simp link and you can then just switch
it off and if you then reconnect your
HDMI cables
um you shouldn't have any more problems
with the red light blinking
if it's not a problem with HDMI for you
then you should just check that your TV
or remote is working so if you've only
been using your remote to try and turn
on your TV it could be there's a stuck
button on your remote or the batteries
are low
um which is why your TV isn't responding
try taking your TV
um out of the room
sorry try taking your remote out of the
room where your TV is so if it's an RF
remote then it doesn't need line of
sight so make sure it's um a couple of
rooms away so it's not causing um
so it can't connect to your TV
and then try using the the physical
buttons on your TV to switch it on
you should also just check your wall
socket voltage
so it can be common
um
that if there's voltage fluctuations or
there's a problem with your smart plug
or surge interrupter
uh the the TV is not getting
um a stable enough voltage and so it
won't come on properly so make sure you
remove any surge Interrupters or spark
plugs and so that your TV has a direct
line to the wall socket you can also try
a different wall socket
um and try a different device of a
similar size that you know Works your TV
the wall socket just to make sure that
there isn't a problem with your
household voltage
also have a look at the power cord
itself for any damage so any kicks or
knots
um
could be causing uh an increase in
electrical resistance
and so your TV is not getting the
correct voltage so you could try a new
power cord
um
and just make sure the port on the TV
doesn't have any dirt or dust in it and
doesn't have any corrosion
if your red light is still blink your
new LG then it's probably a mean board
or power board failure so these are
hidden away inside your TV
um they're very easy to get at you can
just open the back but it will
invalidate your warranty
it doesn't cost much to replace any of
these items yourself
you can use a power board just to check
whether there's a problem with any of
the individual chips or connections of
the power board or main board or just
replace the whole belt power board or
main board
