You know, I had probably the most important sales meeting of my life, and I walked out of there so confident that I had captured all the details. I got back to my car, started reviewing some of my notes, taking better notes, and I realized that I forgot a bunch of information that my customer just gave me, just like literally minutes before. And I felt like a total failure. I don't know if you've ever experienced that, but I sure don't want to experience that anymore, and I have the solution for you, and I can't wait to show you.
My name is Dan, and this is my channel. I love making everyday technology easy. I worked 19 years at Apple, and now I have the honor of being in full-time ministry. I want to talk to you today about the Plaud Note. Now, I made a video on this not that long ago, and I got a lot of great response. I got a lot of great feedback. By the way, thank you guys so much for all the comments. I do read all the comments. I try to answer all of them. But I stumbled upon the Plaud Note probably about a year ago, and I started using this thing over and over. And this is mine. This is not a sponsored video. I paid for this, and I loved it so much that I actually reached out to Plaud because I wanted more technical information on their product. And after a short dialogue, they've actually sent me out their brand new Note, Plaud Note Pro, and their pen. And I'm going to unbox it, and I want to kind of explain to you what it is. This will be a longer style video, so I will for sure include chapter markers down below where you can, you know, jump to the section that you want. Again, just speaking from my heart.
So, true story, I walked out of a sales meeting when I was at Apple with one of the directors of the area in which I was a partner with. And it was a great moment. It was a great conversation. We probably met for about an hour. And I got back down to downstairs to my rental car. I jumped in, and I took out my iPhone and I started jotting down all the things that I wanted to remember. And lo and behold, I realized that I remembered very, very little. And if you think about it, when you're engaging in a good conversation, maybe it's a good meeting, maybe you're meeting with a potential customer, maybe you're meeting with your staff, maybe you're in school and you're listening to your professor in a dissertation, you know, we don't want to be getting all involved in writing notes because at the end of the day, you don't potentially don't take perfect notes. You're going to miss detail.
The Plaud Note is a professional note-taking assistant, and I want to show you all about it. Well, this little device, and I'm talking about it, it is little. It's about the size of a, of a maybe two credit cards. It will capture your meeting, and not only just capture what's being said, but it's going to then, using artificial, artificial intelligence, compile your notes for you and put it in a format that best fits your needs. And that's right, it really does cater to you because you have full control. You can actually create different templates within the software. So maybe you are more of on the educational side of the wheelhouse, right? Maybe you are in school, or maybe you're a professor, and you would like your notes to be taken with a main category and subpoints and, you know, main idea. Maybe you are a business leader and you're meeting with your staff and you want to go ahead and capture feedback from your team, and so you want specific formatting. Or even best, this is the way that I use it. If I'm in a meeting, I want it to capture the entire meeting, no matter if it's one person, two people, five people, 10 people, but then I want mine at the end of my notes to always give me the key takeaways or what are the actionable items that I need to do. And it's going to populate a to-do list for me, if you will. And that is what Plaud, I think, really, really excels.
So again, I've been using this for a while, and this is the original one. Super, super handy. It's MagSafe compatible, so it just kind of sticks to the back of your device like so. I have my iPhone. It's going to be an overhead camera right now, so I don't have it with me, but it just very easily magnetizes to the back of your device, takes up hardly any space. So what I want to do is I want to go ahead and unbox it. I want to show you what comes in the box. I also want to talk to you about another companion device that they have called the Plaud Note Pen. Talk about the differences, and then I'm going to show you how to set it up within the app, and then we're going to put it to the test and show you what kind of results we can get. So again, bit of a longer video, but I'm going to include a chapter marker down below and again, not scripted, off-the-cuff, off-the-heart. This thing is amazing. So let's dive right in.
So jumping over here to my overhead. So this is the Plaud Note Pro, and this is their latest device. There are some differences between the standard Note and then the Note Pro, and I'm going to talk about them. But first things first, this thing is extremely thin. You can kind of capture how thin this really is. So I'm going to go ahead and unwrap this for us. The material on this is really, really nice. So a couple of key differences right off the bat, design-wise. The new design includes some ridges, which is nice. But the biggest difference is that it actually includes a liquid display, an AMOLED display on the top, and that is awesome because that will tell you battery percentage. On the original device, you would only get an LED light that would come up, which is right there by the Plaud logo, and it would show you whether it was recording or whether it's not. And then you would get an alert on your phone if the battery was running low. The other key difference is that on Gen 1 or the regular Plaud Note, you had a physical toggle switch. This toggle switch was if you're doing a lot of voice calls, right? Maybe your meetings take place over your mobile device. By flipping this switch on, it was with the Plaud Note would be able to capture your voice as well as the voice coming in from the call. So that way that you're taking more detailed notes. So that is a pretty cool feature. But the new Plaud Note Pro does that automatically.
Now looking at the back of this, you'll notice that it does have a proprietary charger. And with the cool thing about this is that it is magnetic. It just attaches right there. Um, some people may may not like that, may prefer it having a USB-C. But I'll tell you, and this is only my assumption, is that this device is so thin that in order to put a USB-C, what it would take to have a USB-C driver inside might just make this a little bit thicker. But if you know the answer, drop it down in the comments below. The other improvement improvement that this has, that this has four microphones. So you you can barely see it on camera, but it has one there. It has another one on the other side, and then it has two at the very, very bottom. And the audio quality on this is very, very good. You obviously get a quick startup guide that comes within the box, takes you step by step on how to set this up. There's a QR code, which I absolutely love, makes it so much easier to set up your device. What else do you get? Well, you also get a carrying case. And I got to tell you, the packaging, I'm a sucker for packaging. I guess all my years at Apple, the fit and finish of their packaging and the materials is spot on. So here is a little case that comes along with it. You can tell that I have it on my first Plaud Note. So take this out. It will include a MagSafe adapter. So just in case you are having an iPhone or another device that does not have the magnetic ring, you can apply that to your case. So that's pretty cool that they included in the box. And then it brings this nice carrying case, which you can just slide this right in, and then you can have it. Obviously, I'm not, I'm not going to slide it in all the way right now, but or maybe I will. You can slide it all the way in. Gives you access to the charging points, doesn't block any of the microphones, very, very nice as well. Then under here, underneath this flap, you get the charging cable, which as you can see, it's very nice and comes braided. So very nice USB-C to its proprietary MagSafe adapter. That is the Plaud Note Pro.
Now I did mention another device that we'll be talking about, and it's actually called the Plaud Note Pen. And here's the box for it. And we'll set both of these up here, but the Plaud Note Pen is pretty unique. Packaging again, very, very nice. Gives you a nice graphic on how to wear this. And as you can see right off the bat, this is a tiny, tiny device. Different purpose, different application, same execution, right? It has the same purpose as the Note Pro. It is just a different form factor. It does bring another magnetic sleeve in the back. So let's say you're going to put this inside your shirt, you're going to wear this side inside your shirt, and you can kind of clip it on to your T-shirt or your collared shirt, your uniform, whatever it is that you're wearing. It also brings you a nice clip, which I'll take out here, which magnetically attaches, and now you can clip this on anywhere. You can clip it onto your baseball cap, your shirt, your sleeve, your shirt pocket. And then it brings a docking station, and again, braided cable for a charger. Again, also brings you the startup guide, which is down below. Very useful, and also brings you a QR code and the app, full instructions on how to set it up. But let's talk about both of these. Let me switch cameras here for a minute.
Now, the Note Pen, the benefit here is that you can clip this on on your garment. The even so, you can clip this on your garment, very, very inconspicuous, um, small form factor. Uh, they even sell some wristbands where you can wear this as a, like almost like a wristwatch. You could. You can even clip this onto your Apple Watch if you're already wearing an Apple Watch. And that way, if you are maybe a keynote speaker, you're giving a training, it you can wear this. The benefit of this, you don't need both of them, right? So, this is your choice. It it it's basically what you can envision using more. The benefits of the Note Pen is that this has an extremely long battery life because it doesn't have a screen, it doesn't have anything else to capture. It can capture, I believe, for almost like 5 or 6 hours straight. And I'll definitely put a tech sheet all the way at the end. I don't want to miss any fine detail. But it's just a form factor. This is something that you want to maybe wear more personal, maybe if you do a lot of, again, you're the trainer, you're the manager, you're the sales lead, you're just you're maybe wearing this. You don't you don't want to carry too much stuff. The benefit I feel for the for this form factor is that now if I am taking a class, I can ask the professor if I can put this on the desk. I can put this on the desk closer to the speaker, even though it has very good capture, even up to like 16 feet away. Um, but it's on my device. I don't have to carry it, I don't have to think about it. It's almost there as a portable wallet. Again, they both do the same thing. You do not need both of them. It's a matter of preference.
So, let's switch back, and let's talk about how to set it up. So, the moment I power this on, you'll notice that immediately I'll get a QR code to kind of set this up on my device. And I'm going to get my iPhone and I'm going to scan it and add it into my phone. So, I downloaded the application already because I got to use it. And you'll notice at the top left-hand corner. And maybe I'll do it like this. Actually, let me switch around here. I'll switch around here so that that way you can see what's going on my device. So, very clean interface, I love it. I love the simplicity of it. Top left-hand corner where you see that green line, it shows my Plaud Note. So when I tap there, you see my Plaud Note, my existing, and I'm going to go ahead and add a device. It's going to ask me what device you want to add, the Note Pro, the Note, or the Note Pen. I'm going to go ahead and select Note Pro. Tells me what to do, so I'm going to go ahead and press my Connect Pro to connect. It's going to ask me now I'm sure to scan the QR code, which actually it did, and it's ready to go. This is all live right now. Um, I will update this a little bit later just because we are recording, and my Note Pro is ready to go. Now, that's very cool.
Now, I'm going to switch here just so you can see the screen display shows very nicely. Shows a percentage of my battery. So I get to see right away how much battery I have. And I'll give you a little bit of what I believe this is really, really good for. So, I'm going to start recording, and we'll we'll kind of dissect this here as we go. So, I'm going to press and hold, and it's going to start recording. And um, I'll show you my screen here because I got a couple of options, which is nice. The interface they What I love about Plaud is that they continue to update their software. So, actually I can actually input text here as I go along. The device is recording. You can tell by the looking at the top of my my iPhone there. We are recording now at 24, 25, 26, 27 seconds. At the here on my screen, again, not You don't have to do this, you can. I can input text as my recording is happening. So, let's say again, I'm in a classroom environment, and the professor is going on with their dissertation, but I want to remember yet something else, or I want to make myself a quick note, I can type this note within my phone and add it to my capture. At the bottom, you notice that it says tap to highlight and even take photo. Now, this is actually very cool, and this is something that they've added recently. So, if I if there's something really good, and the professor or your customer or a team member on your team is bringing up some like really good information that you want to even make a better note of, you can you can press on the button here to make it a quick capture. Like you can like you see or you can't see because you're not watching. I'll I'll switch back here, and I'm just going to go ahead and and physically click on the button, and it very quickly will show me highlighted, right? So, it very quickly, um, by by clicking on this action item right here, it very quickly made sure to highlight that specific time within the note-taking process. And at the bottom, it also says take photo. You might be thinking, well, why do I want to take a photo? Again, maybe you're in a presentation, maybe you're at church, or maybe there's a really cool illustration, or there's something that's being spoken about that you want to get a visual reminder, you can snap a picture with your phone and have it inputted or recorded along with your notes, which is amazing.
Now, I know what people might think, hey, you know, why not just take your voice recorder on your iPhone and use that? As a matter of fact, I made a video on kind of comparing the two, using Apple Notes versus Plaud Note and the note-taking process, and even how Apple intelligence, how that compared to the Plaud Note AI. And and yes, you could use your your phone, but there's a couple of limitations. Number one, your phone battery. I I know that sounds kind of silly, but but maybe you're running into a meeting or running into a class, or you're in an area where it's unexpected, and your phone may not be charged 100%, or may be very low on battery. Um, if you get a phone call, if you get some sort of interruption on your voice memo recording on your iPhone, then there goes the process. It's out the window. Where this standalone device, it's fully charged, right? Because you charge it before the meeting or the class or whatever, and it's purposely built. Because it has very low overhead, it is just capturing your notes, and it's going to transcribe them later. Uh, consumption is not as high as it would be on your phone. So, I think that yes, you can do it with your phone, just standard, but there is an added benefit by using the Plaud Note, this in this case the Plaud Note Pro.
Now, a couple of other interesting things, and I'll I'll give you case scenarios, the way that I currently use it today. Well, I wear multiple hats. I'm in full-time ministry, but I'm also doing this YouTube thing. Well, when I am recording a YouTube video, I typically have my Plaud Note standing next to on my desk somewhere or next to my speaker, and I'm going to let it capture my entire video. So, I get a couple of things. Number one, I get a one-for-one transcript of that video and what I mentioned. And that's good to have because now I can get that again, word-for-word transcription, and I can convert it or translate it to another language. I can take that um Plaud will kind of give me a highlight, will give me a a quick bullet point, kind of give me a main idea, like the key headers, the key subjects subject points that I made. So, it's a good record for me um if I want to maybe email that. Sometimes I get a request from one of one of you, the viewers, that wants additional information, I can quickly go back to that. But then, the way that I use it, I grab all that information, and then I'll I'll probably throw it into another AI product like, let's say, a ChatGPT, and say, "Hey, Chat, based on my transcript of my latest video, can you A give me a good title? Can you give me maybe some key highlights or key points, um, even a timestamp?" Or again, I can translate it to a different language, and then add subtitles. And that's just one way that I personally use my Note, and now I'll be using my Note Pro.
The other hat where I wear is that I am in ministry. So, um, over at our church, I lead a team. So, we will have weekly staff meetings, and at staff meetings, there's a lot of things that happen. There are We normally take it off with a devotional, some Bible reading. Well, those devotional times are very sweet and special, and it is basically a Bible study within the staff. How cool is that? Well, I can use the Plaud Note to make me a detailed, you know, list, breakdown of what the devotional was about. I can then turn turn that around and email it to the team. Um, and then then we transition into what's going on in our staff meeting, and we go over like everything else, typical events, calendar planning. Uh, we go over budgets, action items, you name it. Again, now it's formatting that into something that's very digestible, very visually appealing, and I can use that tool to now forward that off to the team as well.
And my third hat, believe it or not, I actually went back to school. I'm attending seminary. And sometimes I'll be online and I'll be listening to my professor giving a very awesome dissertation. I will use my note and now will be using my note pro, but I'm using my my Plaud note, the original one, to record the entire class and it to give me a recap of, again, the main bullet points, a trajectory, everything. This thing even does mind mapping if you're into that, where you can kind of visually see all the strings attached to each subject matter. And in turn, what it has done for me, it's made me, I think, a better communicator because I can see what was captured word for word and in the big picture, how can I simplify this message? How can I simplify this class? I love this thing. Again, not sponsored. Like I am doing this literally for free. Plaud, thank you for sending me the Note Pro. Now, what are the potential downsides? Well, the potential downside is that you do get a free version, you get a free software version where they allow you 300 minutes per month. So, again, maybe you're a staff leader, you're leading a staff meeting, a weekly meeting. Maybe your weekly meeting is an hour long, so that's 60 minutes. 60 * 4, I believe is 240. Hope I got that right. 6 * 7 = 42, 24. Yeah. So, you're probably well within your range and maybe that's enough. But maybe you are a sales leader where you're constantly meeting contacts. Maybe you are a road warrior, you have a lot of meetings going on. You may want to update that plan to either a monthly plan or even a yearly plan. Again, you can I'll leave a link down below where you can check out Plaud's website and see all the different tiers where you can potentially benefit.
Now, let's dive in a little bit deeper into the app because if all this sounds really good, it gets even better once we start talking about the application. So, I'll switch cameras here and I'm going to go ahead and stop this recording for now. So, I'm going to stop and save. And again, I'm going to it's transferring and just like that in real time, my transcript was completed, it's syncing, and now it's ready to go. Now, when I tap on this recording, there's a couple of interesting things that happened. Number one, it highlighted those two moments in where I clicked that, "Hey, this was a very important moment within the recording." And it did just that. Now, I'm going to go ahead and tap down below where it says generate and it's going to go ahead and generate its its own version of this recording. I could, again, create a template that would best suit me or my style, but what I highly encourage you, if you're brand new to Plaud, is just let it do its thing. And then as you get more and more usage out of it, you can go in there and generate your own template. Again, you can cater it, custom custom tailor it to your liking, to your visual liking. If again, if you're a professor, if you're a sales leader, if you're a teacher, if you're a student, if you're just using this for personal growth, right? Maybe you do attend church and you want to record the sermon and and kind of have this highlighter or or give you better notes of the Bible study that I mean, I mean, whatever you want. This is pretty awesome. And it'll generate, kind of give you a title, kind of give you the key points, the key takeaways. But maybe you are, again, like I mentioned earlier, maybe you want those those actionable items. Like, okay, I great information. Now, what do I have to go do so I don't forget? Really, really cool. So, this will take a couple of minutes here to to show to record I mean, not to record, to transcribe. And I'll show you here. So, basically, it is giving me, again, a word for word transcript of what I was able to capture. It's going to give me word for word on not I mean, word for word on text. I can always go back and listen to my recording. Let's see if this will play through my computer speakers. Press and hold and it's going to start recording and some I'll show you my screen here. I've got a couple of options, which is nice. The interface What I love about it, it'll play back the actual recording. I can actually play this back at a higher speed if you want to kind of thumb through it. And then it'll give me a word for word transcript of all that we recorded. And if you notice there it says speaker one. If it does detect a second person, a third person, it'll identify the different speakers and then you can go in there and you can tag who's that person speaking. So, I'm going to go ahead and hit um Dan for me. And as you can tell, I only did it once, but look at this, it identified that all these segments was none other than me. If it if it would have detected a different voice, it would not have applied that to all the different segments. It would have asked me, "Okay, identify this person." Very, very, very cool. Um, so, here gives me a full transcript, so that's awesome. And then over on the top where I click notes, again, these are the the ones that I physically tagged. And if I tap on summary, well, here's the summary in which it created for me. So, it gives me the core functionality and interface. Again, it's listening to what I was saying about the Plaud Note Pro. It gives me a comparison of the iPhone's native voice recorder. And just let's just look at this one for a minute. Limitations of using an iPhone. Battery life. Batteries phones can run low unexpectedly. Plaud Note is a dedicated low-power device built for long sessions. Interruptions. Calls and notifications can disrupt iPhone voice memos. Plaud Note and obviously the Plaud Note Pro as a standalone device avoid avoids these interruptions. Now, did do you get that, right? Those were not my words exactly, but it's going it's using AI, very powerful AI, to give me a recap of what I just said. That's amazing. That that is amazing. And then here's another bonus feature of the actual app. If you notice at the bottom it says, "Ask Plaud about this note." So, for instance, I know that on the Plaud um on this recording, I used the word battery. So, I typed the word battery and I said, "Hey, can you go ahead and check what it what did I mention about battery within this meeting?" And then it scanned my my note and it found me where I actually mentioned the actual battery. Now, this is powerful. So, again, you're in a class, you're in a staff meeting, you're in your environment, and you know that there was a keyword mentioned. Instead of having to go back and scan through your notes, this is just like instant- taneously will scan and find that within your note. And another benefit of using a AI system like Plaud Note versus just a your regular phone recorder, if your meeting, class, or event lasted for an hour and you have recorded that hour and you're going to be scanning that, you're going to be reading that, or capturing that, it's kind of it's it's a one-for-one, right? You're going to have to either play that back at real-time speed or 2x to be able to kind of scan through your your document, if you will, or your voice memo, where you can leverage Plaud AI to just very quickly scan through your lesson or your session and quickly find the information that you needed. Again, super, super powerful. I love this device. The the Plaud Note Pen just takes it to the other the next level in my opinion because of the form factor. So, this has all the all the same benefits. The limitation here is that there's no there does not have the four mic array that it does with the the Plaud Note Pro, but it does have all the same capabilities as far as great battery life, great recording, great quality of audio recording, and then all the same features within your um within your notes. Amazing.
Now, let's talk about who this is for. I mentioned it before, but this is really for anybody who is a professional and wants to be professional. Again, in my case, I missed so many so much great information from these high-level meetings because I wanted to be engaged. I didn't want to be on my phone. Like, "One second, can you repeat that?" Like, who's going to ask, "Can you repeat that?" It is very uncomfortable. You're if if you're a pen and paper person still, you're going to miss information. I pride myself in in the in when I would draw on my iPad, I would take notes, I would I would doodle, I would create graphs, I would miss half the lesson because I was so busy trying to make it visually appealing so that I could remember. But using a tool like the Plaud Note or the Plaud Note Pro just takes it to the other level.
Now, if you are a professional and you're worried about encryption or security, I brought this up. Plaud has met and it continues to up the ante with major um compliance standards. It is compliant with SOC 2, right? SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, I mean, HIPAA compliant, EN 18031, um ISO 27001, and ISO 27701. This might not mean anything to you, but if you know, you know, right? If you are in the realm where your your notes, your meetings have to be secure and reach a certain standard. The Note Pro does just that.
So, listen, this is a product that I truly enjoy that has really changed the way that I personally work. And I hope that this quick demo, maybe not so quick because I think we're probably over 20, maybe closer to 25 minutes, has shown you enough to get an appetite for what it is. You you know, scan my emails, auto reply on certain emails where I can have control, but it I can have kind of a sense and I don't I don't, you know, not reply to an email for for weeks on end. The the Plaud Note has definitely changed the way that I conduct meetings, I conduct uh one-on-one meetings with with families and friends that that want to open up and share. I can be there for them. I can be engaged. I don't have to stress about forgetting details. I can go back and recap the meetings. I can have Plaud AI recap the meeting for me in a very digestible manner. If I'm leading the team, I can give them the tools that they need so that they can even do their jobs even better. I know that this will definitely change your life.
