Hello, I'm Sanu. I love IKEA, and I decorate my home with IKEA items. Well, today I'll do a room tour while sharing my favorite IKEA pieces. So, there are over 40 products in this video, including some of my recent favorites, so I hope this helps with your next IKEA shopping trip.
So, let's start with the dining area. There's a big dining table right in the center, and in the back there's a cabinet and there's a desk. That large mirror on the wall, it's the LINDBEAN from H&M Home, and it's about 31 inches (80cm). Mine has a white frame, but it comes in different colors depending on the country, so you may want to check. This BESTÅ cabinet works as the perfect backdrop for this area, and doubles as great storage too. The design is so clean and simple, which I really love. There's also a similar option called the EKET. The EKET is a bit shallower, so it's more compact, but with the BESTÅ, when you look at it straight on, the doors sit flush with the frame, which looks really clean.
One of my recent favorites is this lovely silver tray. It's really popular, so it tends to sell out quickly. And, it looks so stylish with little decorative pieces, but as you can see, it is on the larger side. This display area feels a little crowded, so I’m thinking of moving it. Actually, this is an IKEA tablet stand. It's great for magazines and recipe books, and you can prop it open like this. The design is really clean and simple, so I definitely recommend it. Well, the BESTÅ series is at just the right height for placing accessories and small items. This marble-look tray is from H&M Home. This candle holder actually has a ring stored inside. This table light has a travertine base with a fabric shade. The texture is really lovely, and it's priced very affordably for IKEA. I recently rearranged this little display a bit. Over here under the counter, I moved the silver tray to this spot. And right over here is a classic IKEA wagon. It's the smaller size, and I've got it nested inside this white table-like piece. This is the BJÖRKÖVSEN from IKEA. I think it's in beige right now, and it is available in Japan, but I'm hoping the white makes a comeback. The beige is pretty sweet though. Now the BJÖRKÖVSEN tends to be found near the computer desk section, so it can be a bit tricky to find. And this box here is also from IKEA, where I keep the remotes I use all the time. It's at a really easy-to-grab height.
Now, this is IKEA's cable weight. I'm using this magnetic cable holder to keep everything in place. The magnetic hold is super strong and I love it. All these charging cables plug into this extension cord right here. And this extension cord is actually an IKEA product, and what I love is that it doesn't look like a typical office item. It is a bit visible, but the color is just so perfectly subtle. It has two AC outlets and two USB-C ports. And it's PD-compatible, so it charges fairly quickly. Here I've stuck a magnetic tissue dispenser to the back of the basket. Someone asked me if the magnet holds, and the answer is, if you stuff it so full that the tissue is overflowing, yes, it can come off. In that case, just set it down and use it that way.
The dining table is from Carl Hansen, about 43 inches or 110cm in diameter. I'd love to lower that pendant light a bit, but the cord just doesn't reach. The dining chairs up front here are from IKEA, and the design is really lovely. Now, on the dining table, I have one of my all-time favorites, this beautiful tray right here. Well, these are candle holders. They have a really lovely, weighty feel. And these are LED candles. They're perfect for anyone who's a little nervous about real flames. The way they glow is really beautiful, and they're rechargeable too, so they're super easy to use. And by the way, let me sneak in another IKEA favorite of mine, a really handy wireless charger. It doubles as storage, which I really love.
Now let's head over to the desk corner. Well, when it comes to a desk area, you always need storage for all the little odds and ends, and the SKÅDIS pegboard is one of my top picks. There are so many accessory options for it and it's highly customizable. You can even mount it using drywall push pins, so you don't have to make big holes. I'll link what I used to mount it in the description. And this rotating clock is from IKEA, and if you rotate it, it switches to a timer mode. The wall-mount case for it is something I designed myself and printed with my 3D printer. Actually, this thing the laptop is sitting on is a tablet stand. I love the white and cork combination, it just looks so good. You can also adjust the angle, so it's really practical. The cabinet is white and the desk is white too, so it blends right in, which I love.
Now, this is an air quality sensor I recently got, and the design is really nice too, it doesn't stand out, which I really appreciate. You can set it to send a phone notification when humidity drops below 40%, or connect it to a smart plug to automatically turn on your humidifier. So there's a lot you can do with it. The thing is, for some reason when I checked the IKEA website, this product wasn't showing up. That's kind of a mystery... This here is a desk shelf. I used an IKEA shelf board for it. It's solid wood, so up close the texture is really lovely. I searched for 'legs' on the IKEA website and just picked some out to add some height.
Now for the desk itself, this is the MICKE from IKEA, which is actually a kids' desk. It happened to be the same height as the BESTÅ cabinet next to it, so it fit perfectly, and that's why I chose it. It's designed for kids, but the design is simple enough that adults can totally use it. Well, this drawer under the desk, I actually removed it, and now there's more space and it's much easier to use. But the one thing that frustrates me a little is that you can't clamp anything to the back. The structure just doesn't allow clamping, but there's a small hole that I used to clamp on a monitor arm. Someone told me that if you skip this storage section and leave out the back panel, you can actually clamp it that way. I recently got a mic arm too. It's from a brand called Sanwa Supply. It's white and I got a really good deal on it. Actually, these days voice input on computers is getting more and more popular. And for accuracy, a wired mic really does perform better, so I'd definitely recommend a mic arm. I wanted to clamp it to the desk but couldn't, so as a bit of a workaround, I've got it clamped to the very front corner of the desk. And, just tucked behind this monitor light, there's this really lovely light, that's a recent IKEA product. The price honestly seems almost too good to be true. You can also stand it upright, and it comes with a stand for that. And the chair is a Herman Miller Sayl.
So, let's head over to the kitchen. There are some recent favorites I'd really love to share. Okay, where should I start. Let's go with the cabinet area. I actually have another favorite in there, but at the time of filming it was in the dishwasher, so you can't see it here. This glass mug is another one I love. And of course it's fine for hot drinks too. Now, this shelf here, it kind of works like a display shelf, and it's actually the MOSSLANDA from IKEA, a picture ledge that I've installed upside down. I loved it so much I put up two side by side. This fruit bowl is such a lovely item, but it's no longer available. IKEA really does have a lot of limited-edition pieces, and so many things come and go in no time.
Well, that slim drawer underneath is from IKEA, and it's actually a monitor stand. It was originally designed to hold a monitor, but using it in the kitchen is actually really popular. Since it's a monitor stand, it can hold up to about 44 lbs (20kg), so it's really sturdy. I keep my kettle on it. Some people even put their toaster on top. And this little drawer underneath is incredibly handy. There's a small gap at the bottom, so I use it to store trays. Inside I have drip coffee packs, tea bags, and snacks. And also some medicine, plus coasters in here too. It actually fits more than you'd expect. It's shallow, but it has quite a bit of depth to it. Having this kind of easy-access storage at just the right height, and being this slim, are the two things I love most about it. This monitor stand also comes in black. And I've seen so many creative ways people use it. Some people use it for accessories, and others use it as a remote holder in the living room.
Actually, this area is a bit messy and I need to sort it out. I noticed the placemats and also the tray have toppled over a bit. But let me tell you about this tray, because it's so good. It looks like a simple cafeteria-style gray tray, but it's actually dishwasher-safe. That's really rare for a tray like this. It's so easy to clean. I use it all the time because it's just so convenient. I actually have two of them, and I sometimes even use them while I'm cooking. And the price is amazingly low, which makes it even better.
I’ve recently purchased a Sharp Healsio Water Oven. It makes it really easy to cook healthy meals, and it's truly a lifesaver for busy people. But the one thing is that it comes with quite a few accessories, like various baking trays and wire racks that I use pretty often. So right now I'm figuring out where to store it all. Since I use it pretty much every day, for now everything is just left out on the counter. Now, the stand for it is also from IKEA, at least I think so, though I couldn't find it on the website recently. Maybe it's been discontinued, I'm not sure, sorry about that. But the cutting board is an IKEA cutting board that I really love. It's bamboo so it's light and easy to use. I was using a plastic one for a long time, and I was a little worried about the upkeep, but honestly, once you do the first oil treatment, it's really easy to maintain after that. The edges are cut at an angle, so it's easy to lift off the counter.
This lovely basket is the RISATORP from IKEA. It's one of those classic IKEA staples that everyone loves. And in Japan it's actually really affordable. I use this to store bread. This black pot is not from IKEA, but I use it every single day to cook rice, so I leave it out on the counter. It cooks so much faster than a rice cooker. The rice comes out really well. And it says all the parts except the clay lid are dishwasher-safe, which is amazing. So that's really great. And this one at the front is the VARIERA, and it stretches like this. I use it as a drying rack and let bottles and things air dry here. And when I'm not using it, it folds away really easily, which is super convenient. And let me share one more top pick. This floppy-looking thing is actually an oven mitt. I use it every time I take the baking tray out of the oven, I use it every day. It's so much quicker than the slip-on kind. And even though it looks this thin, it's said to be quite heat-resistant, and it's non-slip, which makes it really easy to use. On top of that, it says it's dishwasher-safe. It also works as a pot holder.
Well, this next one is a personal hit of the year. It's a sensor light, and since putting it up, you can see all the way to the back of the shelf, and it just feels so much better. It runs on batteries, and I'm using rechargeable ones. I think it's been about two months, maybe even a bit longer, and I still haven't needed to recharge it. The light turns off after 10 seconds, so I think that's why the battery life is so good. The response speed is really fast too. I've also put one in this cabinet here. This sensor light comes in a set of two, and it's priced as shown on screen, so the value is really good. It attaches with adhesive tape. When you charge it, the base stays in place and the main unit detaches. I seriously love it so much I put one at the entryway too. And I'm thinking of adding one to the closet as well. This hand soap dispenser is also an IKEA product. I made the label myself.
Now let's move to the living room. The sofa is from a Japanese brand called NOYES. There's an armless side so you can sit from either direction, which is really convenient. I've left a link to their official site in the description. There's absolutely no sponsorship here. My living room is on the compact side, so a deep sofa like the IKEA ones just wouldn't fit, so I went with this one. And, these cushion covers are also from IKEA. IKEA has such a wonderful variety of cushion covers. I love these because they look really high-end. The fabric is really substantial.
Well, before, I had this side table behind the sofa, but now I've moved it to the side. I'd place a lamp on it, and since it's in the center of the room, it was great for displaying things. For now I've tried putting it by the window. Right here I have a recent IKEA purchase that I'm really loving, a real personal favorite, this lovely plant stand. The price-to-value is just incredible, and the impact it makes is so noticeable. All it does is add some height, but without it, there's such a big difference when it is there. Let me show you what it looks like without, it's not bad, but with the added height it feels so much lighter and more dynamic. It really makes the room look so much more lively. In between the plants I've got some LED candles. They're on a timer, and after 24 hours they turn back on at the same time for 3 hours. So it's a repeating cycle. I'll put the price for the smaller candle in the description. And this candle holder, the white curvy one, is also from IKEA, and it's still available.
Now, having all these little lights scattered around was actually inspired by a recent visit. I had the chance to visit the stunning home of two creators, Hidemaru-san and Butajiru-san, and I was just blown away by how many lights they had. The lighting was so beautiful, with spotlights all around, and little lights tucked in among the plants. It really reminded me how important lighting is, so for now I've been trying out candles. Now, these sheer roller shades on the windows here, the one in the middle is from Rakuten. The ones on the left and right are from Nitori. They look like they're the exact same pattern, but they're actually different. I just matched them to fit the window frame sizes. With roller shades installed, the room looks really clean and put-together. And recently this type of sheer roller shade has come out from IKEA too.
Okay, this is quite an old TV. And I mean really quite old. When I looked it up I was shocked. It's from 2011. I honestly can't believe it still works. It's on this swiveling stand that I recently got. And it's so good. I use it to watch YouTube here in the dining area sometimes, and while I don't watch much regular TV, if you plug in an antenna cable, you can watch broadcast TV too. I really can't believe it hasn't broken yet. Sharp really makes quality stuff. We also use this space for gaming. And since my daughter’s room is right behind this sliding door, she uses the TV for gaming too. And, over here I have the GLADOM side table from IKEA. On the top level there's a tray called SKÅRA. This light here is from IKEA and it's at such a great price, and the way it lights up is really beautiful. It shines both upward and downward, and the shadows it creates underneath are really lovely too. The glass container in the front is a candle. It's almost gone at this point, so if you find it, you're lucky.
And this is another top pick of mine from this year. So it's a light, but get this, it's also a Bluetooth speaker. It's a speaker with a built-in light. And the design is just so stylish. The speaker volume is actually pretty loud. And this cork clock is also one of my favorites from this year. Well, IKEA has released a lot of clocks this year. They're all really affordable, so please do check them out. This is an IKEA SKÅDIS bench. And this serving bowl was also from IKEA before, and it was part of the same series as the fruit bowl I mentioned earlier. This one disappeared quickly too.
Now, this donut light here, the orange donut light was a huge hit, but it's been redesigned. It now features matte white glass, and it's been made into a smart light. You can control it with a remote, and it's also really versatile, and you can connect it to a hub. I have mine set to automatically change color and brightness based on the time of day. When you first get it, it comes paired with the remote, so if you want to connect it to a hub, just reset it first. Also, all of these frames are IKEA products too. IKEA actually has some really great frames. They're usually near the end of the store, so they tend to get overlooked, but the fact that you can get a frame this size at that price is just incredible. And, this personal chair is from IKEA's STOCKHOLM collection. It's kind of their flagship piece. It is a bit more expensive by IKEA standards, but the design and materials are really wonderful. I sit here to read and play games. And this round cushion is also from H&M Home. And this rug is from the STOENSE series at IKEA.
