Learning the V-shaped facial posture will change your life. I'm not even being dramatic. It changed my life. And I get comments like this all the time of people saying that it changes the way that they feel and the way that others react to them.
So, the V-shaped facial posture is everything moving out up and open from the point of the chin into the sides of the head. So, the corners of the mouth subtly lift. This helps activate the midface, the apples of the cheeks to stay nice and lifted. And then this is going to go into the sides of the brows and the sides of the head. So we're not lifting the brows straight up. We're lifting with the outer sides of the frontalus muscles and we're lifting into the temporales and these muscles on the sides of the head. And that helps keep your upper face lifted and open.
So when you hold your face out up and open like this, you are going to feel more confident and you're going to look more confident. And it also helps reverse any facial tension patterns that you may have. So if you tend to clench and clamp in the lower face, nope, it has to move out up and open. If you tend to wse the eyes, then we reverse that by keeping the eyes wide and lifted. It also helps reverse 11 lines, inner brow pinching.
So we are just learning a new way of holding the face, just like learning a new body posture. It doesn't have to be extreme. We don't have to look crazy and weird all the time. We're not overdoing it. It's very subtle. And once you learn it, this is going to help your face stay naturally lifted and open over time because you are training the proper muscles to stay in that healthy state of toness and lift. And this is going to make all of your facial tissues healthier and more lifted, including the ligaments, the skin, everything. It also helps keep the fat pads lifted.
If you struggle to move into the Vshape, you probably have quite a bit of facial tension and also scalp tension and neck tension because everything is connected. The first thing that you can do is a scalp massage. This is going to help you no matter what because this area needs to be nice and mobile for our face to be lifted and open. So, massage in small circles like this. Lock into the tissue on one area and move that tissue until you feel a little bit more mobility, a little bit more warmth in the area and then lock into the next area. Move to the next area. lock in nice circles and keep doing that all over and then try again and I bet you it will be easier.
And if you find that a certain area doesn't want to cooperate, then that is probably your trouble area that you need to focus on with massage and other techniques like my holding pressure technique that I teach on my page. For example, in the brow area, if you are pushing in the brows and they're very tense, they're not going to want to open out into the sides. So, you're going to take your knuckles and you're going to place them on those areas that are tense. You lean the weight of the head. You feel that pressure into it. You breathe. You let it open up. And once you feel a little bit of a release, usually 30 to 60 seconds for most people, then you can vibrate in place. So, see, I'm not stretching the skin. I'm just using these nice little micro vibrational movements right there to help the tissue further open up.
I also have plenty of tension release routines in my True Face app. Most of them are 10 minutes or less. And we have a master routine which is cheek exercises, V-shaped training, and also an overall massage. So, that is a great routine for overall lift and tension release. You can check it out on my page and I have a 7-day free trial.
