>> What's up? So, man, that guy was crazy, huh? So, I see a lot of people on here and I'm I'm just I'm I'm curiously asking this question cuz you just said that you have to be saved and you use the scriptures in John 3 and in Mark, right?

>> But what about Ephesians where it says we're saved by grace through faith? [snorts] And I'm I'm really genuinely asking this question because I had some Protestant friends that don't believe that you have to be baptized that b that not that you don't have to be like that you should be baptized, right? But they're saying basically that if baptism is a requirement to be saved, then it's works that saves you.
>> Baptism isn't a work that we do. Um Titus chapter 3 vers 4 um through I think that's 4 through 7.
>> 4 through 7. Yeah. But when the kindness and love of God, our savior toward man, appeared, not by works of righteousness, which we have done, but according to his mercy, that he has saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. That happens through baptism when he poured out um on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our savior. That having been justified by his grace, we should become hes according to the hope of eternal life. So that regeneration is through the Holy Spirit which happens in baptism. How do we know that's in baptism? Because what happens in regeneration? We're born again.
>> Romans chapter 6. I'll start at verse one. What shall we say then? Shall we continue to sin so that grace may abound? Certainly not. How shall we who have died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not understand or know that as many of us were baptized into Christ Jesus, were also baptized into his death? Therefore, we were buried with him through what? Baptism.
>> Baptism.
>> Into death.
>> Yep.
>> That just as Christ is raised from the dead by the glory of the father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. So, how do we die to our old self? Through baptism.
>> Right? So there's no way you can even be reborn except through baptism which is not a work of us. It's a work of God. Hence in the name of the father, son, and the holy spirit. Now after we get that baptism, we have to do a faith. We have to have a faith that works. Galatians chapter 5:E 6. A faith that works through love. That word works means literally energized by the love. And the love is Jesus says is caring for each other. Well, Paul says that um as well, caring for each other, doing the commandments, right? John 14 22 and 23. Okay. Yeah, we'll just start verse 23. Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my father will love him or keep my commandments." Right? And um we will come and make our home with him. So how do we have that? How do we how do they still have the abode with God? Through keeping the commandments and showing each other love. Because what does Paul say? If I don't have love, if I have all these matter of fact, that's another good verse that you can use. Um for instance, Paul when he talks about faith is a complete faith and that complete faith um it's a is a belief plus uh the works right.

>> Now, when we go to um one of the verses that Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13, 1 Corinthians chapter 13 verse 2, if I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I Have faith. What? Faith that can move mountains but do not have love. I am nothing. So there are people who have faith in God. Faith that can move mountains is the exact thing that Jesus said you're supposed to have. However, Paul is saying if you don't have the love, if you do these actions without caring for the individual, if you do these actions in a way that you're just trying to get glory for yourself, if you don't do the things that God requires of you, this is all tied together. Then you're nothing. Now, ultimately, he's talking about, look, well, you can see if I give all that I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. So you can do all the good works you want to, right?
>> You're supposed to.
>> But if you don't have the love that's required, then you're going to have the issues.
>> So faith by itself isn't is something different. Like there's a there's an extent where you have the faith, which is the belief, right? And you have the the works that are supposed to go hand in hand with you're supposed to do the works, right? So it's kind of like a conglomeration of things.
>> Yeah. Basically hermeneutics. I mean scripture interpreting scripture. I mean John also I mean James said faith without works is dead.

>> And also, I don't know, this sounds like they might have a problem with like infant baptism, too.
>> They do. Actually, he always brings up about um, you know, how babies get baptized when they're mainly Catholics, right? They they they baptize the babies. And he always brings that up because I I kind of do believe I mean the same scriptures that you brought up in Mark and John, I have brought those up as well because I mean it says right there explicitly that you know you got to be born of water and spirit.
>> Yeah. But let's get something deeper, right? Colossians chapter 2, we go down to verses 11 through like we'll just do 11 and 12. So remember how we read those other verses, right? About baptism, you know, dying and being risen with with with Christ, right?

>> In him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, but by the putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with him in baptism in which you were raised with him uh through faith in the working God. Right? So that baptism is of faith who raised him from the dead. Now this is the new circumcision that is done by baptism. Right?

>> Now when we think in the old testament who was circumcised

>> and it was after the covenant of Abraham. Correct.

>> And when were they supposed to get circumcised?
>> As a baby. Ah so if baptism is the new circumcision then what
>> then that means baptism is required ah even for children. So when we go to Genesis 17 10 and 11 this is my covenant which you shall keep between me and you and your descendants after you. Every male child among you shall be circumcised, and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your fork skin as a sign of a covenant between me and you. He who is 8 days old among you shall be circumcised. Every male child in your generations, he was born, etc., etc., etc., part of the everlasting covenant. And if you're not circumcised in the flesh, that person shall be cut off from the covenant. Cool.
>> Cut off from his people because he has broken my covenant. So to be part of the covenant, what? You have to be circumcised.
>> Circumcised.
>> The way that we're circumcised in Christianity is through the baptism.
>> Through the baptism. That makes sense.
>> And you get baptized as a child. Now, one more thing you can ask your friend, hey, you know, did did kids go across the Red Sea? You know, did they did they carry kids across the Red Sea? And what would you say?

>> Of course, if they didn't, [laughter] Israel would have been
>> Israel would have been destroyed because all the adults got wiped out.

>> Because they couldn't act right. Moreover, brethren, 1 Corinthians chapter 10. Moreover, brethren, I do not want to you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud. Now, the cloud is representative of the Holy Spirit in case you didn't know.

>> The cloud. All passed through the sea. All were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, i.e. in the spirit and the water. and all ate the same spiritual food and all drank the same spiritual drink. So all of them were baptized. How did they escape the troubles of Egypt? Through the Red Sea.
>> The Red Sea.
>> How did they escape the violence of Egypt? Through the Red Sea.
>> Red Sea.
>> How did they become a new people, a new Have their identity? Through the Red Sea.
>> Wow.
>> Because that's what baptism does. It regenerates you.
>> Regenerates you. Another thing you can look at in the book of Genesis which people kind of look over Genesis chapter 1 specifically verse two the earth was without form and void. Darkness was on the face of the deep and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And after the spirit was hovering over the waters, what happened? God created everything.
>> Everything was new. He brought life. Why? Because the spirit baptized the earth and made everything good. That's why we have life springing forth from it. So this idea of baptism has been the entire time.
>> Yep. It's nothing new.
>> Exactly. I think the reason why he doesn't want to accept it is because he has family that are in the church
>> that they say they believe but they've never been baptized.
>> Yeah. They need to get baptized. They should.

>> Also, another baptism is Noah's baptism.

>> Yeah. And you can go to first Peter 3 for that one. First Peter 3 is going to be verse 21. Um well, we can start up here. For Christ also suffered once for the unjust that he might bring uh bring us to God, being put to death by the flesh and being alive by the spirit. By whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison, whom were formerly disobedient when once divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah while the ark was being prepared and eight souls were what? saved through the water.
>> Through the water.
>> There's an antitype of this which now saves us. Which now saves us? Baptism.
>> Not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience towards God. Because what? It purifies you. It's not just some bath that you get in through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So what happened in the time of Noah? All the bad people got wiped out. The world was wicked. So what did God do? He baptized the earth

>> and he saved the individuals through the water.

>> That that that verse right there solidifies everything basically.
