Jesus Made This Clear in Matthew 18:23-35:
Peter asked Jesus, "Lord, how many times should I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus responded, "Not seven times, but seventy-seven times." And then Jesus told a parable: There was a servant who owed the king a huge debt, millions of dollars in today's money. He begged for mercy. The king forgave him completely. But then that same servant found a man who owed him a few dollars. Instead of showing mercy, he grabbed him by the neck and demanded payment. When the king found out, he was furious. He said, "You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?" And then Jesus said, "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."
Did you hear that? If you refuse to forgive, God will refuse to forgive you. If you hold on to bitterness, you are choosing to be imprisoned. If you demand justice instead of showing mercy, you will face God's judgment. That is terrifying.
What Happens When You Refuse to Forgive?
1. **Your heart becomes hardened:** Every time you replay the pain, you allow bitterness to grow. And the more bitter you become, the further you drift from God.
2. **Your prayers become powerless:** Jesus said that if you are holding unforgiveness, God will not hear your prayers.
3. **You open the door to the enemy:** Satan loves unforgiveness because it keeps you bound in anger, resentment, and hate. And when you are bound, you can't grow spiritually.
4. **You block God's blessings:** Forgiveness releases God's favor in your life, but if you hold on to grudges, you are rejecting the blessings God wants to pour into you.
5. **You put your soul in danger:** This is the most terrifying part. If you die in a state of unforgiveness, you die in a state of unforgiven sin. And Jesus already said, "If you do not forgive, your Father will not forgive you." That means if you refuse to forgive, you are putting your eternity at risk.
How Do You Forgive Someone Who Hurt You?
I get it. Some of you have been deeply wounded. Some of you have been betrayed, abused, used, abandoned. Some of you have scars that run deep, and forgiveness feels impossible. But listen to me: Forgiveness is not a feeling; it is a choice. Forgiveness does not excuse what they did; it frees you from the pain. Forgiveness is not about them; it's about your relationship with God.
Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
So, how do you forgive?
1. **Remember how much God forgave you:** You didn't deserve His mercy; you didn't earn His grace, but He forgave you completely.
2. **Pray for the person who hurt you:** Ask God to bless them. Ask God to heal your heart. Ask God to remove bitterness from your soul.
3. **Say it out loud:** "I forgive them." Even if you don't feel it yet, even if it still hurts, speak it in faith.
4. **Let go of revenge:** Stop replaying the offense in your mind. Release them to God. Trust that God is the judge, and He will deal with them.
Don't let unforgiveness destroy you. I don't know who hurt you, but I know this: it is not worth losing your soul over. That betrayal? It's not worth hell. That pain? It's not worth separation from God. That anger? It's not worth blocking your own forgiveness. Jesus forgave the people who nailed Him to a cross. Can you forgive the person who hurt you? Because if you refuse, God will refuse to forgive you, and without God's forgiveness, there is no hope.
So, I ask you again: Who do you need to forgive today? Who have you been holding a grudge against? Who do you need to release from your heart? Don't wait. Don't let bitterness destroy your soul. Forgive before it's too late.
Conclusion: The Hope of Redemption
Is there any way back after these sins? After everything we've talked about, the six unforgivable sins, you might be feeling one of two things: fear. Maybe you're wondering, "Have I already crossed the line? Have I committed one of these sins? Is it too late for me?" Conviction. Maybe you feel God tugging at your heart, telling you to turn back while there's still time.
Listen to me carefully: If you still feel convicted, that means there is still hope for you. Because the greatest danger of these sins is when you no longer care. If you feel nothing, if your heart is completely hardened, if you have no desire to repent, that's when you should be terrified, because that's when it's too late.
But if you are here, listening to this right now, it means God is still calling you, and that means there is still hope. God's mercy is available, but only if you repent. Yes, these sins are terrifying, but here's what you need to understand: God does not want to condemn you; He wants to save you.
2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." That means right now, He is giving you a chance. A chance to turn away from sin. A chance to surrender completely to Jesus. A chance to be forgiven before it's too late. But you must act now. Do not play games with God. Do not assume you have more time. Do not think you can repent later. Do not ignore the conviction you feel right now.
Because here's the truth: There will come a day when God's patience runs out. One day the door of mercy will close. One day judgment will come. One day you will stand before God, and the choice you made on Earth will determine your eternity: Heaven or Hell. Eternal life or eternal separation from God. Forgiveness or judgment. And on that day, there will be no second chances.
The Final Question: What Will You Choose?
You've heard the truth. You know the dangers. You know what's at stake. Now, the choice is yours. Will you repent and surrender your life to Jesus today? Turn away from sin while there is still time? Make sure your heart is right before God? Or will you ignore this warning? Harden your heart? Risk crossing the line of no return? The decision you make right now will determine your eternity. Do not delay. Do not wait. Turn to Jesus now while you still can.
Pray this with me: "Father, I come before You knowing that I have sinned. I repent of my sins and I ask for Your mercy. Jesus, I believe You died for me, and I surrender my life to You completely. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me live for You from this day forward. I choose to follow You, no matter what. In Jesus' name, amen."
If you prayed that with sincerity, God hears you. Now, don't just say the words; live it. Because this is your moment of decision. And one day, when you stand before God, you will be glad you chose Him. This world is full of deception. Temptation is everywhere. Sin is getting worse. The return of Jesus is closer than ever. Stay in the Word of God. Stay in prayer. Stay close to Jesus, no matter what. Because in the end, only one thing will matter: Did you truly follow Christ? Make sure your answer is yes. God bless you.
