[Music] hi it's Robin Sharma this is for you as a member of The Habit camp program and this relatively quick video is really about the number one reason habits fail and it really comes down to a lack of fortitude isn't that a great word and it's one of the great virtues fortitude so as you know University College London has discovered through their research that it takes about 66 days of practicing a skill for the gift of neuroplasticity to kick in until the new habit reaches a point called let me hear you say it automaticity automaticity is where it becomes easier to do the new skill than not to do the new skill you do have a gift I want to repeat that again because it's so important you have a gift and the gift is neuroplasticity a brain that changes itself in response to your behavior you have choice but the key is one of my favorite brain tattoos I'll repeat it again because good mentoring is good reinforcement small daily seemingly insignificant improvements when done consistently over time lead to stunning results so it's not what you do once a year that's important it's what you do every day small micro winds when done consistently over time lead to habits that are lifetime lasting and so this idea of fortitude you know we all have the gift of change and that's a brain that changes according to our training so what most people do is that first of all they tell themselves a story about why they can't change and your story determines your self-identity and your self-identity or personal narrative determines your behavior I want you to really think about that that story about who you can be determines what you do every day if you're writing a story or a personal narrative that's been programmed into you maybe by your parents maybe by the media Maybe by Society let's continue our walk together that says well you can't be the kind of person who gets up at 5:00 a.m. you can't be the kind of person who can do a morning workout I'm not the kind of person who can dominate my domain I'm not the kind of person who can write a book build a screenplay walk on a new planet well then you won't even do what is required to train yourself to become the person your Mighty Mission wants you to be so I want you to remember it all starts with your story and be a person who is all about can not about can't your excuses are liars your fears are thieves do not buy the goods that they are selling you and then the second thing is time time and training so stay with your commitment whether it's to run every day maybe it's fast once a week and participate in omad one meal a day I suggested at least once a week and I'm not giving any medical advice here I'm just sharing what works for me I find fasting on a regular basis at the very least once a week Ohad one meal a day once a week and the money you would have spent on your meal give it to someone in need great idea for you so you not only do something good for yourself and you put your body into a state called autophagy where the cells actually cleanse themselves but you also do something for someone in need but stay with whatever the Habit commitment is for these 66 days that Keystone habit you're trying to install whether it's getting up at 5: whether it's running the five grade hour rule every day maybe it's the second wind workout maybe for 66 days you won't eat sugar Maybe your Keystone habit the one habit you'll work on for 66 days is for 66 days you won't complain what will that do for your mindset heart set Health set and soul set but remember training time is so important you can change you have the gift of neuroplasticity you just need to stay with the process long enough for the new neural Pathways to forge be created and then the more you practice after the 66 days the deeper the neurop pathway gets and eventually a fatty tissue called myin forms around it and some neuroscientists believe that myelin is the secr of genius and that's what allowed Wayne grety not to go to where the puck was but to where the puck was going that's what allowed Steve Jobs to see around corners and be precient and see into the future so stay with the program remember all Changers hard at first it's messing in the middle it's going gorgeous at the end suffering is actually a strength you can get this done stay with your habit for the 66 days thanks for being with me we'll see you in the next [Music] one
