Well, well, well, as promised, we are finally at the 202020 formula, which is the essential morning routine of world-class producers. Millions of people around the world are using the 202020 formula to absolutely heighten their positivity, their productivity, their prosperity, their performance, and their impact on the world. And I am absolutely delighted to walk you through it right now.
So, high-level macro picture, what is the 202020 formula, and why do I call it the 202020 formula? Well, from 5:00 to 5:20, that's 20 minutes. The first pocket is called "Move." From 5:20 to 5:40, the second pocket, it's called "Reflect." And from 5:40 to 6:00, the final 20-minute pocket of the 202020 formula is all about growing. And the label actually is "Grow." So, the 202020 formula simply speaks to this formula that I have handcrafted: three 20-minute pockets that comprise the victory hour from 5:00 to 6:00.
Let me just offer you some thinking on why I created this. And it actually originated in my work as a mentor to high-level clients, top leaders, super successful sports athletes, members of royalty, film stars, and movement makers. I realized, first of all, exercising first thing in the morning was an absolute game-changer. And one of the best things you could possibly do to revolutionize your life is to exercise first thing in the morning. And I'm going to get into why, and you're going to love the science of exercise.
So, the first pocket really was to get people moving. The way you feel when you first wake up is not necessarily the way you will feel 20 minutes later. As a matter of fact, if you do what I'm going to suggest you do in the 202020 formula, by 5:20, you're going to feel fundamentally different from the way you felt when you first woke up. I want you to really think about that. The way you feel 20 minutes later, at 5:20, is going to be so different from the way you feel when you first wake up in the morning.
I've been practicing the 202020 formula for years, and I've, I've sort of hacked it and created my own morning routine. I believe the 202020 formula is the minimum viable morning routine. But I must share with you, there are mornings where I wake up and I feel tired, or I feel like staying in bed a little bit longer. Maybe it's those really cold winter mornings. And yet, when I inspire myself to get out of bed, and by the way, as soon as you get out of bed, you feel different. And then I move across the room, I feel different. Then I have a cup of coffee, I start to feel different. And then I get on my spin bike, or I get on my treadmill, or I start to do some jumping jacks. I start to feel fundamentally different. Then I start listening to a podcast, or an audiobook, or watch a video on the spin bike in that first 20-minute pocket, and I start to feel fundamentally different. Then I hydrate, and I start to, and it's this upward spiral of success I've been encouraging you to think about. And by 5:20, I feel so different. I feel inspired, I feel energetic, I feel focused, and I feel really happy. I mean, this morning routine is fun. It will inspire you. It's not drudgery. It's not misery.
So, I wanted to make the morning routine, uh, as a start. I wanted to have exercise, so incredibly important. And then the second pocket, I just wanted to install a period of time that would allow you to reflect and to be thoughtful. The quietest time of the day is from 5:00 to 6:00. Why not sit quietly and think about your values and ask yourself some of the deep questions, and start off your day in some quietude? Because the, the way you start your day sets the tone for your entire day.
And then the final pocket about growing. The thinking behind setting up that pocket as part of this morning routine is when I work with the best of the best, they're all incredibly curious and they love growing. And as I've mentioned, nothing fails like success. The top of one mountain to these people is the bottom of the next mountain. And so I wanted to have a pocket for 20 minutes, at the very least, where you could sit down or stand up and grow and actively spend some time in learning.
So now, please allow me to walk you through in granular detail the 2020 formula as a deconstruction. Remember the three-step success formula: with better daily awareness, you can make better daily choices, and with better daily choices, you're absolutely guaranteed to see better daily results. Remember the leap from superficiality to granularity. The reason I taught you that powerful learning framework is when it comes to a deconstruction like this, you're going to go into very granular detail about the morning routine of world-class performers. We're going to get into granular detail on the 202020 formula. That is, then you're not going to have a vague understanding of this morning routine. You're going to have a granular, clear, pristine, precise understanding of exactly what to do and why to do it. And that's going to give you very high levels of awareness. And with that high level of awareness, you can start to make some very clear choices. And with those very clear choices, you're going to receive even better, more beautiful results.
So let's get right into it. From 5:00 to 5:20, the first pocket, that's a 20-minute pocket. I want you to move. Why do I want you or encourage you to move? Well, intense exercise is going to cause you to sweat. And when you sweat, here's what's going to happen: you're going to reduce the cortisol. Cortisol is the fear hormone. You wake up with cortisol. You have cortisol in your system, in your brain. And so what will happen is, by exercising first thing in the morning, you hit the ground running, so to speak. You're going to reduce the cortisol in your system.
Also, by exercising first thing in the morning, at 5 a.m., by the way, it's really important to give yourself a 15-minute runway. So I actually encourage you to get up at 4:45. That way you can do your personal things. 5:00, you lock and load. So exercising, moving, will reduce the fear hormone. It will also cause the release of BDNF. BDNF is a very powerful neurochemical. Uh, and and BDNF stands for Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor. BDNF has been called the master molecule of learning. John Ratey at Harvard University calls BDNF "Miracle-Gro for the brain." BDNF actually increases the connectivity of neurons. It increases the density of your brain. BDNF actually promotes neurogenesis, which is the growth of new brain cells. BDNF actually increases your learning power. BDNF actually accelerates your ability to process information. What a gargantuan competitive advantage that is. BDNF actually repairs brain cells damaged from stress. So BDNF is a very powerful molecule that is released when you sweat, when you exercise. And that's why I'm encouraging you to exercise first thing in the morning.
Morning exercise also releases dopamine, which is the inspirational neurotransmitter. So you wake up tired, perhaps, and you're, it'll get easier, you're going to wake up inspired. But let's say you don't really feel good, you might feel low. We're human beings, we have high moods, we have low moods. But by moving first thing in the morning, moving vigorously, you're going to release dopamine, which is going to make you feel inspired, it's going to give you energy, it's going to make you feel strong, it's going to activate your highest power.
Exercising first thing in the morning, in that first pocket from 5:00 to 5:20, will also release serotonin. People who suffer from depression and anxiety are found to have low levels of serotonin. A lot of the depression medication is designed to increase serotonin. Well, the good news is, by exercising first thing in the morning, you can release serotonin without any medication. Very, very powerful.
Then, exercising in that first pocket, "Move," will also increase your metabolic rate. That will give you more energy. It will get the blood flowing, will increase oxygen throughout your system, and will actually increase your fat-burning engine. So you can reduce any body fat, extra body fat you might be carrying, which is actually going to increase your processing ability as well, and the way that you feel.
I also want to mention that our brains have been designed to come to life through movement. And it's a primitive mechanism. When we were on the Savannah, when we were hunters and gatherers, our brains would work best when we would move. Because when we would be moving, looking for food, being careful about predators, we needed to be as focused and alive and clear as possible. We needed to have our brains working at their absolute best. And so a mechanism or phenomenon unfolded within our brains that links movement with brain performance. Movement is linked to brain performance. And that way, as we would move, looking for food, or moving to the next place to live, our brains would optimize and they would perform even better. Now, we're in the modern age. There is still a powerful connection between movement and brain performance. So please think about that.
When you move first thing in the morning, in this first pocket of the 202020 formula, you're also going to release norepinephrine. Norepinephrine is a neurotransmitter which increases your focus. Have you ever noticed on the mornings when you do exercise, through the rest of your day, you're not scattered? You have much more focus. You can sit down and work on a project without feeling the need to get up, without feeling the need to check your digital device. That's the power of norepinephrine.
So now it's 5:20. You feel fundamentally different. By the way, when I exercise in the morning, I drink a lot of water. And hydration is incredibly important. Most of us, you've been sleeping seven to eight hours, you're going to wake up feeling dehydrated. But drinking water and proper hydration has also been scientifically confirmed to boost mitochondrial function, which is so important to your energy, as well as your longevity. I also do breathwork. There's a lot of things you can do while you're exercising. If I'm on a spin bike, I can be drinking water, I can be doing breathwork, I can be doing my affirmations. And what I often do is I learn. So that 20 minutes is not only to move and activate this pharmacy of mastery within your brain. We all have this, by the way. It just most people don't exercise first thing in the morning, so they don't get this pharmacy of mastery being activated, which electrifies their brain and their body and their moods and all those good things.
So you can also learn. So you're on a spin bike, or you're on a treadmill, or you're doing yoga, you can at the same time listen to an audiobook. You can at the same time listen to a podcast. And so you've got 20 minutes right at the front end of your day, while the rest of the world is asleep, to learn. And learning actually increases dopamine as well.
So what are the benefits? Well, you'll have less fear because you've reduced cortisol. Your resilience and the way you will feel when you encounter pressure-filled and stressful scenarios in your day will be fundamentally different. When I exercise first thing in the morning, I notice something that ordinarily would bother me does not bother me. And on the mornings where I might miss my morning workout, I feel fundamentally different. Little things bother me. I have much more focus. You will as well. You'll have much more game. In other words, you'll just feel like optimizing your craft. You'll feel that fire in your belly because you've done that first 20-minute pocket. And of course, you'll have greater longevity. You'll increase your, um, ability to fight disease, and you will have greater hardiness, and you will have greater longevity, and you'll boost your immune system.
And longevity is really something I want you to calibrate and optimize and spend a lot more time thinking about. Because just imagine extending your lifespan. Just imagine getting up in the morning and doing what I've just walked you through consistently. Because again, consistency is the mother of mastery. And what you do every morning is so much more important than what you do once in a while. Imagine doing this and extending your lifespan, living for an extra five years, an extra 10 years. There's some research that has come out talking about exercise giving you extra decades. Imagine that. Imagine living longer, enjoying life for another decade or two. Imagine how good you'll be at your craft by then. Imagine the amount of prosperity and economic freedom you could build with an extra 10 years, or 20 years, or even 30 years of a lifespan. Imagine the service you can bring to the world and the impact that you can have.
So that's the first pocket of the 202020 formula, 5:00 to 5:20, and it's all about movement.
Second pocket is "Reflect." That's from 5:20 to 5:40. What do you do for that 20-minute pocket? Well, you can journal. Journaling has saved my life. Journaling is one of my daily strategies that has allowed me to increase any wisdom I might have, productivity, performance, hope, gratitude. I'd actually like to walk you through some of the benefits that you'll experience if you start journaling every day. And people ask me, "Should I journal on my digital device, or should I buy a paper journal and use a pen?" I truly believe you will get the best results if you get a traditional paper journal and use an old-school writing tool. There is research coming out confirming that when you write something, it activates a part of your brain that deepens your commitment. So it's very powerful to write about your dreams, write about what you're grateful for. It will deepen your commitment, it will deepen your awareness, it will deepen your insight, because there is a linkage between writing and thinking.
So, some of the benefits from journaling during this 20-minute pocket: The first is, you're going to build incredible levels of self-awareness. Vague thinking leads to vague performance. Vague thinking leads to vague performance. The majority of people are not very thoughtful. Majority of people don't spend a lot of time thinking. The majority of people are not strategic, they're reactive. Yet, the best of the best, the empire makers, the history creators, the game changers, the world builders, these people are very intentional, they're very deliberate. And so the finest time to reflect is at the beginning of your day. No notifications, you're not checking your messages, you're in solitude, silence, stillness. Your family is likely asleep, and there's just this stillness in the air, and you deliberate.
So, the first benefit of writing in a journal during this second pocket on reflection is you're going to develop a lot of self-awareness. You can write about how you're feeling, you can write about how you're thinking, you can write about your values, you can write about what you once said about you after you're no longer here. You can build self-awareness about how you lived the previous day and what you can do better today. A few questions I often journal about is: What worked yesterday? What am I grateful for? Another great question to journal on every morning: These are morning questions. What worked yesterday? What am I grateful for? What five things can I improve today? What will I focus on today? Who can I help today? You can even ask yourself, "How can I take some time for myself today?" So you just write. Sometimes you can just free-flow in your journaling. There, you don't even have to have any questions. You just write down your thoughts.
Another very powerful exercise is to write down 11 new ideas. You can call it the "11 New Idea Generator." And you just pick a particular topic. It could be: "How can I increase my business?" Write down 11 ideas. "How can I optimize my health?" Write down 11 new ideas. "How can I change the world?" 11 new ideas. "How can I be a better parent?" 11 new ideas. "What can I heal within my heart?" 11 new ideas. "Who must I forgive from the past?" 11 new ideas. You can, I'm sure you can see how powerful doing this every morning, or even five days a week, would be to build your self-awareness better. Remember the three-step success formula: with better self-awareness, you can make better choices, and with better choices, you're going to see better results.
Even in terms of your personal mastery, the second benefit from writing in a journal during this second pocket on reflection is you get to record your life. You get to record great trips. You can get to record great family meals. If you watched a documentary last night, you can actually deconstruct what you learned in your journal. Imagine that. You don't just watch the documentary, you actively deconstruct what you learned. Again, that's going to develop greater awareness of what you learned. With that greater awareness of just what you learned in that documentary last night, you can make better choices. Those better choices are going to give him even better results. So I believe your life is absolutely worth living. And because it's worth living, it's really worth writing about. And it's worth capturing. And it's worth reflecting on. Imagine at the end of your life, you're going to have tens, if not hundreds, of these beautiful, if you want, leather-bound journals that can be a legacy and a gift to your family. So record your life. That's the second benefit of writing in a journal every single morning.
And then the third benefit is you can capture your learning, which deepens your learning. When I mentor the billionaires, in particular, if I share an idea, they pull out their journal. Sometimes they'll pull out their digital device and they write it down, they capture it, and they have these battle charts and these game sheets. I remember last summer, I spent about two and a half days with one of the most successful people in the world. And every time through our conversation, I would share something that he found interesting, he would capture it. And I said, "You know, what's your process?" He said, "I take good notes. I write down interesting insights that I know will help me in my business life, my personal life, and my spiritual life. And then once a week, I go through them and I study them." You see the level of granularity the A-players have.
So, the third benefit of writing in a journal is you can actually capture your learning and then go back and study it. You want to be a great chef, you have to study your notes. You want to be a great student. It's about study. If, when you were in school, maybe the subject was English, or geography, or history, you didn't just go to the class, you had to study it. Maybe you highlighted it, and then maybe you'd come back the next day and study the same notes again, and you kept on going deeper and deeper. From superficiality to granularity, until if you did your job well as a student, you reached a place of mastery and you got an A in the subject. Well, it's the same in life. It's the same in business. It's the same in productivity. Same in your craft. Same in relationships. Same in your health. Leave superficiality, move towards granularity, and commit to mastery.
The fourth benefit of writing in a journal is processing. So when you're going through a difficult time in your life, the quickest way out is straight in. Our culture says, "Don't feel your feelings." If you're in pain, if you're in sorrow, if you're suffering, if you feel angry, if you feel disappointed, get busy, move on. Well, what that does is it traps all of those toxic emotions, and they come back to bite you in bitter ways. And I'm paraphrasing a quote from Carl Jung, the great celebrated psychologist. All those emotions, when you're going through a difficult time, even a difficult day, if you don't process through them, you're going to swallow them, you're going to repress them, they're going to come back in disease, they're going to come back in passive-aggressive behavior. You wonder why sometimes people overreact, or maybe you overreact. Something small happens. Maybe it's with your significant other, maybe it's at the office, and a little thing sets you off. Well, if it's hysterical, it's historical. If your reaction is hysterical, please know it's historical. If your partner's reaction, or teammates' reaction, or a friend's reaction is something you do is hysterical, it's because it's historical. It's from the past. And so you want to heal the things that hurt you so you don't come back to cut people who didn't bite you. And writing in a journal is an incredible way to move through lower-grade emotions like anger, sadness, regret, disappointment, fear, shame. In my own life, my journal has saved my life. During the tragic times of my life, there have been times where even it's been a year or two years of a lot of suffering because I've gone through a very difficult time. And during some of those periods, I'd write in one month 400 pages in a journal, and I process through my emotions. And here's how I feel. I have a, I have an acronym: HD. How do I feel? So I go, "HD?" question mark. And I just build greater fluency and intimacy with my feelings and my emotions. And by writing about them, I release them. By writing about them, I allow them to leave my system. And it allowed me to clear through the difficulty so I didn't carry that baggage into my brighter future. So writing in a journal is profound. And it doesn't only have to be difficult emotions. You can build greater intimacy and a stronger relationship with positivity and hope and awe and wonder and in gratitude by writing about it in a journal.
I've spent a lot of time so far talking about writing in a journal because it really is a game-changing move. And it's incredibly powerful for your hope and your enthusiasm and your productivity and your performance and just living a much more clear, deliberate, beautiful life. Which brings me to gratitude.
The fifth benefit of writing in a journal is gratitude. There's some very good research, especially the work of one of the preeminent researchers in positive psychology, Sonja Lyubomirsky, who I had on my stage at the final Titan Summit. And she has found that the happiest people in the world all practice one thing: it's called deliberate gratitude. That's not once-in-a-while gratitude. It's not January the first gratitude. It's on a consistent basis. They reflect on their blessings and they count the good things in their life. This is very interesting. She's actually found, though, that there's, you can actually overdo it. And so, so she actually talked about the correct dosage of gratitude, which is a few times a week. It's not every day. Personally, I find I can't get enough gratitude. So I write in the morning. Sometimes before I go to sleep, I'll ask myself, "What three good things happened to me today?" That's based on the research of the legendary positive psychologist Martin Seligman. He found by simply asking yourself, "What three good things happened to you during the day that you've just lived?" Done consistently over a period of months, dramatically increased optimism. So I write in the morning, and often I write in the evening. When I'm traveling, I love writing gratitude. When I'm on airplanes, I'm always writing gratitude. And if I'm on a trip, I write about the dinner the night before, and about the event, the presentation I'm going to give. And I just sort of, I simmer in gratitude. Even in the morning, I often will take a shower and do a shower meditation, and I'll focus on gratitude. In the evening, I love taking baths. I'll take an Epsom salt bath, and I will sit there, and I will immerse myself in gratitude. And I will actively look for things that I can focus on. Because the brain has a negativity bias. And this mechanism, this bias towards looking at what's worst in our environment, is a remnant from our primitive ancestors. Because when we were on the Savannah thousands of years ago, if we were not constantly in searching for threat mode, we would be killed by saber-tooth tigers, or warring tribes, or we would starve. So here we are today, and our brains still scan the environment looking for threats relentlessly. You give a presentation of 20 people, 20 people liked it. One person didn't like it. That's what you think about. You've had an amazing day, an amazing year. Two challenging things happen. That's what the brain focuses on. You're in a beautiful restaurant, everything is magical, you're having the time of your life. The food comes out 10 minutes late. That's what you remember. You've had a great past, a few ups and downs. What does the human brain focus on? The few tragedies, or the few betrayals of false friends, versus all the people who were so good to you. That is the brain's negativity bias in action. What is the antidote to fear? What is the antidote to that negativity bias? Deliberate gratitude. Actively, daily, as part of your morning routine, in this second pocket, pulling out your journal and writing down, "I am grateful for 25 things," if you like. I call it the "I Am Grateful For 25 Tool."
So, the final two benefits of writing in a journal: You will accelerate, magnify your creativity masterfully. Just writing new ideas, capturing your learning, free-flowing in terms of your artistry and how you're feeling and what you're thinking about, it will promote your creativity. When you get to work, very significantly, the best business builders are not focusing on problems, they're focusing on solutions. They're possibilitarians. Writing in a journal during this second pocket will really help you. And then the final thing it'll do is it'll really promote your focus. By writing your goals in the morning, I remember one of my clients had the single greatest year he'd ever had in terms of his income in his business. And I said, "Well, what of my methodologies helped you?" And he said, "Well, you know, you talk about your Daily Five concept." And I said, "Yes." He said, "That dramatically accelerated my income within my business during the past 12 months." What is that concept? Well, basically, you ask yourself, "What five tiny triumphs, or what five micro-wins, must I achieve today before I go to sleep with respect to my business?" And you can do it in any era of your life. So five little wins at the end of one month is 150 little wins. At the end of one year, it's almost 2,000 little wins. Imagine 2,000 new wins in your business, or in your health, or in your relationships, or in your creativity, or in your spirituality. It's simply not possible for you not to have the single greatest year of your life. Yet.
So those are some of the benefits that I encourage you to think about and embrace when it comes to writing in a journal. What else can you do during the pocket from 5:20 to 5:40? Well, you can meditate. I talked about gratitude. You can also do affirmations. Autosuggestion is an incredibly powerful way to restructure and reorder your subconscious mind. Words have incredible power to them. And so coming up with affirmations such as the old Émile Coué auto-suggestion or mantra phrase: "Every day, and in every way, I'm getting better and better, stronger and stronger." Is a very powerful mantra. We hear that word a lot. Morning mantras. Mantra comes from Sanskrit. Man means mind, tra means freedom. Mantra: free your mind. I sound like Morpheus in that old movie, The Matrix. But affirmations are incredibly powerful. I use affirmations every morning. Again, often when I'm in the shower, I will go through an affirmation protocol, and I will just offer myself simple ideas like, "Today, I will be extraordinarily focused and I will deliver acute value to as many people as possible." Or "I am" is very powerful. "I am getting stronger today. I am becoming even healthier today. I am more creative today. I am reaching for even greater mastery today. I am serving as many people as possible today." So you can do your affirmations. You can write them down because I believe writing affirmations down is very powerful.
And then another thing you can do is prayer. And if you, if you're not a religious person, then think about scientific prayer. Because the science says that prayer boosts positivity and it boosts productivity and it just makes you feel much better. I pray every morning. And these days, I get up at about 4:00 and I spend one hour laying in bed praying. And sometimes it's out loud, and sometimes it's just a whisper, and sometimes I don't verbalize the prayer. I pray to my higher power. I pray for greater strength. I pray for greater wisdom. I pray for greater fearlessness. I pray for the ability to be more honorable, to be more of service, to be an even better person. And so prayer is so powerful. And I really encourage you to pray every morning, especially during this 5:20 to 5:40 pocket of the 202020 formula. And you can actually pray on paper in your journal. You pray to your higher power. If you believe in God, you can pray to God. If you believe in the universe, or the power of nature, or just this energy of life, pray to that power. Pray to your inner hero. Because I believe that external power and your inner hero at the center of your soul are absolutely connected. They're one. Because we're one with the entire universe. And prayer brings you closer to your primal genius and your heroic self.
And so looking at the model here, you're going to have greater joy because of gratitude, more dopamine, more energy will be released. And because you've reflected first thing in the morning, you'll be less reactive. You'll be much more strategic, or much more deliberate, much more intentional during the day. Which, in other words, you will control your day versus your day controlling you. What are the benefits? Well, the benefits: you're going to be happier. You'll have better performance. You'll be much more aligned with your values because at the beginning of your day, you've connected with your lighthouse. In the quietude of dawn's early light, you've detected your values, you've written in a journal, you've prayed, you've remembered who you truly are. Then you walk out into a noisy world, much more a force of nature, much more anchored in what you want to stand for and what you wish to represent as the hero of your life. You'll be better at your craft because you're more focused, you're much more deliberate, and you'll be much more positive.
Which brings us now, it's 5:40. Just imagine how you're going to feel. You've optimized your cognition, you've increased your energy, you've worked on your body, you've connected to your spirituality. Remember those four interior empires: Mindset, E1; E2, Heartset; E3, Healthset; E4, Soulset. All four of those interior empires must be nurtured, fueled, optimized for you to experience exterior empires of productivity, process, prosperity, creativity, elite performance, and service to humanity. The doorway to success opens inward, not outward. Focus on your four interior empires during your victory hour from 5:00 to 6:00. Walk out into the world and watch what happens. Your income is going to increase. Your impact is going to increase. Your lifestyle is going to increase. Your your power to influence and uplift people will increase. And your connection to your heroism will soar.
So it's 5:40, and already you've worked on those four interior empires. The final pocket from 5:40 to 6:00 of the 202020 formula, of course, it's 20 minutes long, 5:40 to 6:00. This is where you grow. The great ones are obsessed with daily growth. They can't get enough reading. They can't get enough learning. They're enormously curious. They never lose the sparkle in their eye. And this is probably the greatest thing that makes them great.
So what I encourage you to do: I love audiobooks. They're very popular now. I've benefited from audiobooks for over 20 years. I find if I read a book, it takes me a little longer. But if there's an audiobook, I can get through a book within two days. Why? Because I join "Traffic University." When I'm in traffic, I'm listening to an audiobook. When I'm at the grocery store, I'm listening to an audiobook. When I do my second wind workout and I'm walking in the woods at 4:00 or 5:00 after an intense work day, I'm listening to an audiobook. So I'm constantly learning. Because as I'm walking, I'm learning. As I'm driving, I'm learning. As I'm running on the treadmill, I'm learning. Audiobooks are just incredible. And then what I often do is after the audiobook, if it's a world-class audiobook, I will buy the paperback and then I will mark it up, make notes on the pages, and go even deeper. And then I'll build game charts and battle charts based on what I've learned. I'll write about it in my journal. I will go very, very deep in a book that is great. Sometimes I'll buy three copies of the book and mark it up. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, for example. In my home library, I probably have 15-plus copies. Every time I go to Rome, I'll go to the same bookstore, I'll buy it again. I'll go back to the apartment I stay at, I'll write, "Here's the date, here's how I'm feeling," and then I'll reread the book again, and I get new insights from it. So audiobooks are beautiful.
Documentaries. From 5:40 to 6:00, great time to look at a documentary. I love documentaries. You can learn about a titan of industry's life, or a great creative person. It could be a great poet, it could be a great artist, it could be a great humanitarian. You can learn about their entire life, their winning formula, their mindsets, their routines, how they handled adversity, how they built their companies or their movements, just by one 20-minute or half-an-hour or one-hour-long documentary. I love documentaries in this final pocket of the 202020 formula. It's a great time to watch even 20 minutes of a documentary.
Masterminds. My life changed as a result of masterminds. The first time I ever heard of the concept was in that wonderful book by Napoleon Hill, "Think and Grow Rich." Which is not a book about making a lot of money, it's a book about making a lot of productivity and a lot of life. And he talked about the Mastermind Alliance, which is basically a group of like-minded people who get together on a regular basis, and they just talk about their dreams and what they're learning, and they support each other. And it's basically the power of a number of minds, and I would add hearts, and bodies, and spirits, getting together, talking about a central mission, and things that are exciting to them, and what they're learning. And for many years, every Friday morning at 6:00, I would meet my mastermind partner, and we'd go for a one-hour walk in nature, and we would talk about the books we were learning, and what we were eating, and biohacking, and difficulties, and we'd offer support and insight, encouragement. And it was a very powerful part of my journey towards, um, higher levels of self-mastery and productivity and performance, and in my commitment to being a better human being. And so I would encourage you to find some time. You can do it digitally, digitally via a video call or a phone call. Spend 20 minutes once a week, for example, with like-minded people, or even one person. Call that person, and your mastermind partner, where you share ideas, you talk about what you've been journaling about, you talk about what you're struggling with, you share where you're winning, and you rise together. It's a really powerful methodology.
What else can you do during this pocket? You can review your study notes. You can go through your journal and just again, build greater self-awareness, deepen your learning, deepen your wisdom by looking at your notes and your observations. And then finally, video courses. Like this one right here. The power of a world-class video course like this one is priceless. And I love video courses because I think they're one of the single greatest ways to dramatically increase your creativity, your productivity, your performance, your financial freedom, to build a more beautiful lifestyle, and to change the world. So I would strongly encourage you, keep up the great work of investing in your growth and in your leadership and in your heroism and your impact on the world by video courses. I love video courses because they're so engaging and they have such a sustained impact in your learning because you see the person and you hear the person, and I guess it activates those mirror neurons and that emotional contagion.
So why would you do this for 20 minutes at the end of your 202020 formula every morning? Well, it'll bring you back to the 2x, 3x mindset. Double your income and your impact. Triple your investment and your personal mastery and your professional development. It'll give you greater insight and wisdom. Imagine being a wise person in your marketplace, being a wise person in your community. People will be attracted to you. It absolutely increases your ability to deliver opportunities. When you know more, you can see more, which will allow you to do more as an entrepreneur and empire maker. For example, if you have this wisdom and you have this this advanced perception because you're knowledgeable, because you've invested in your learning first thing in the morning as part of your morning routine, you are going to be a walking and talking value incubator. And the more value you can push to your clients, and the more value and magic that you can distribute to your marketplace, the more income and impact, peer applause, and accolades you will receive. Even in the worst economy, the masters are still winning because they are delivering rare air levels of magic and value to the marketplace. The marketplace always pays for mastery. So by increasing your wisdom, you're going to seize opportunities because you'll see opportunities. But you're also going to increase your value delivery.
And then, of course, I'm sure you're the same way. When I read a book, when I listen to an audiobook, when I invest in a great course and watch a great video course, I just walk away feeling inspired. I just get electrified by great information. So the benefits: you'll make your rise to legendary. You'll be a market icon. You're going to experience much more prosperity because your income and impact is so absolutely directly tied to your value. As you grow as a human being, as you release your scarcity and move to more generosity, as you get better at your craft so you can produce masterpieces, as you become a more understanding person, as you increase your empathy, as you have more energy, as you increase your positivity, those kinds of things dramatically increase your income. And they dramatically increase your impact and service to your clients, your community, and to the world at large. So impact will grow. And immortality. You'll start doing work that actually stands the test of time and lives long after you're no longer here.
So that is the 202020 formula, the world-class morning routine that will exponentially increase your positivity, your creativity, your productivity, your prosperity, your performance, your lifestyle, and your usefulness to the world.
