If you want to know the ultimate hack for your appearance, just stop showing your emotions on your face so much.
Now, it's okay to have emotions. It's totally okay. But if you're wearing that all the time, like a piece of clothing on you, people are going to pick up on it, and it's going to affect how you are perceived. You're just simply not allowing your face to be in its full true potential when you are wearing the cloak of emotion over it. You're taking your natural features, your natural face shape, and you are very subtly contorting them into the facial expression that matches your internal state.
And then, guess what? Research shows this: the world is going to reflect that back to you, and it's going to make you get in that state even more. When you put that out into the world, "I'm stressed, I'm sad, I'm flustered, I'm angry, I'm nervous," whatever it is, the world is like, "I'm going to treat that person like they're sad, flustered, stressed, angry," whatever it is. This is why people have noticed changes in personality and the way that people perceive them and their stress and emotion levels after getting Botox.
But I'm not the biggest fan of Botox. So how do you change this without Botox? Well, number one, just become aware of how you hold your face in a really non-judgmental, objective way. Facial awareness is what we're talking about here. And when you notice, "I'm pulling in my brows again, clenching my jaw," whatever it is, just simply move into the V-shape. Just think of the V-shape. You pull everything out, up, and open from the chin, subtle smile in the cheeks, and out, up into the temples, lifting up with these muscles here, not straight up, worry, surprise, out, up, and open. I have more videos on this, and I have a V-shaped training in my True Face AB membership.
And next, you do want to remedy the tension that is keeping you stuck. We do know that anatomically, facial muscles can get stuck in certain positions. Muscle fibers get shorter, more contracted, and this also pulls the skin and attached tissue with it. It also stiffens the fascia, which keeps you kind of bound in that state. So we want to do proper facial myofascial release. We want to use modalities like gua sha to move circulation, blood flow, nutrients, support the tissues in their healing process and becoming more supple and open. And we want to use facial exercise for certain areas when appropriate. I teach how to do all this on my page and in my True Face membership app, so check it out for more.
