Foreign, let's praise Him together. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. [Applause] Hallelujah. No, I really want you to lift your hands and I want you to pray back and praise the Lord this morning. The sweet name of Jesus, the power of God in Jesus Christ, we bless you today. [Music] Thank you. [Music] Hallelujah. [Music] I'm way out of sorts this morning. Just, I'm just overwhelmed. Jesus is the sweetest name I know, and He's just the same as His lovely. That's the reason why. [Music] For Jesus is the sweetest. [Music] Thank you. I love Him. I love You because He first loved me and purchased me by His side. [Music] Oh, I just want to sing that to Him this morning.
We come now, Lord, to the most [Music] precious time when Your Word is proclaimed and when Your Spirit operates freely and fully to open up our understanding and our ears. There's nothing on Earth quite like a church service where the redeemed of the Lord lift their hands and hearts, and then the minister breaks the bread of life. There's just nothing like it on Earth. And so we come to that moment when the loaf of life is before us. And now give me the skill to break it gently and reverently so that we may all partake and eat. And then a little while, Lord, we'll actually take some unleavened bread and a little juice, and we will eat it and drink it and say to You once again, "Thank You for saving our souls." I ask You now for great Heavenly skill. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Thank you for being seated. Several weeks ago, I started preaching on the church and said that I would probably go for a while. I, I really don't know when I'll finish this. What I thought the Lord wanted me to speak last Thursday for today, He, He changed it, and I had to write really quickly early this morning. This is what the word will come from today.
And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon bar-Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I'll build My church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on Earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
I found myself very agitated this week, very stirred about what I'm, what I watched go on in our world, in our country. Businesses and organizations seemingly caving in to the demands of a very small minority of people whose lifestyle does not please God or line up with scripture. And I, I felt that burning aggravation in me. And the Lord spoke to me and said, "Don't get distracted. I don't want My people talking more about what the devil is doing than what I'm doing." [Applause]
And in between services, I was back there, and in the spirit, the Lord spoke to me again and said, "Remind the people not to be talking so much about how they're living as to how we are to be living." And how hard do we be? How are we to be living? Soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world, looking for the blessed hope and soon coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Don't be so disgruntled and confused that you forget the mission of the church, which is why we are here. Don't forget our purpose in being on this planet. We are not here to change the world. We are here to warn the world, to teach and preach Jesus Christ, to warn this world that the end is close, and every man must give an account of himself to God. Oh yeah, warning is a great part of what the church does. If you remember in Acts chapter 20, when Paul knelt and was addressing the Ephesian elders and said, "I'll never see you again," but he was crying, and he said, "Don't forget that for the last three years I warned you day and night with tears." And don't forget, it was the same Paul that said to the Colossian church, "Him we preach, warning and teaching every man in all wisdom, that every man may be presented perfect in Christ Jesus." That's our job. God did not call Noah to change the world. He called him to build a boat, preach, and warn the people that judgment is coming.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're in enemy territory. This is their world. We are intruders. We have invaded their world. They're not taking this lightly. This is the world Jesus decided to build His church in, in a dangerous place, in a dark place, a dying and corrupt place. He said, "I'll build My beautiful, righteous, perfect, holy church in a place that is void of understanding and full of iniquity." We're in the world, but He called us out of it. You can't leave the world. You can't get away from sin, but you can live a life that pleases Christ and a life that ministers to the world. He didn't call us to get mad at sinners. We're supposed to have compassion on the ungodly. They're blind. They can't help it. The God of this world has blinded their minds to the gospel message of Jesus Christ, just as He did yours. He called us out of it. It's a condemned world. How sad. Paul said in Romans 1, it's a, it's a guilty world. Everybody in it is guilty. They are guilty of rebellion against the Most High God. And if there has ever been a scripture that made me scratch my head, it's the one in John 17 when Jesus is praying His high priestly prayer, and He says, "I do not pray for the world." But Jesus, I thought that You love the world so much that You died for the world, and yet You turn right around and say, "I do not pray for the world. I pray for those whom You have given Me out of the world." We're admonished time and time again, "Do not love the world. If you love the world, the love of the Father is not in you." The world is passing away. The Bible says it's going through its final phase. It will soon be gone, judged, burned, and gone. John said, "We know we are of God, and the whole world lies under the influence of the evil one." I'm hesitating today. I'm taking my time. These are heavy words. The whole world is under the influence of the evil one. He didn't say a group, a community is spattering over here, there's evil over there. He said, "Oh, the whole world." That you are in, the entire society of man that the church happens to be in, is under the influence of the evil one. Sir, this world is not my home. This present evil world is not my home. Paul said, "Our citizenship is in heaven, from whence we look for the Lord Jesus Christ, who's going to change our vile body that it may be made like unto His glorious body." We're on a mission. We got a job to do. Time is running out. Don't get used to it. Don't get rooted down. Don't get settled. Don't get comfortable. We are strangers and pilgrims on a journey through this quick life. Don't ever forget it, church. There is no, there is nothing that is alike between the church and the world. They are mutually exclusive. Paul said, "The world is dead to me, and I am dead to the world." It means nothing to me, and I mean nothing to them. So remember who you are. You are a stranger. You're a strange person to this world. Sitting up in here this morning, crying and raising your hands and clapping and all of this, strange to the world. But they're strange to me. I don't get the whole scene. Everything I'm looking at, I go, "What? None of this makes sense to me." We are strangers and pilgrims. That's why we can never lose focus.
Jesus said to Peter, "You are Peter. You've already declared that upon this rock, I am the Christ, the Son of the Living God. And on that truth, I will build My church, and I will give to you the keys to the kingdom of heaven." I'm giving to those who are called by My name, filled with My Spirit, I give you My Word, which is the key that unlocks the doors of lost hearts. This gospel can even open the doors to nations. And I give them to the church. Now, don't be deceived into thinking that Jesus was calling Peter the first Pope. He was not. There was no such thing as Pope in scripture, you understand that? He didn't say, "I give you the keys to the church." He said, "I gave you the keys to the kingdom." And you do understand that Peter was under the jurisdiction of James. James was in charge of the church, not Peter. This goes on and on. So we can push that little false theory to the side and get on with the business at hand. "I give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven." And when you go forth, filled with the Spirit and love with truth, you can unlock doors everywhere you go, be it your next-door neighbor or a community in India. By My Spirit, the Lord says, you can go where darkness rebukes you and spread the light.
So, you know, I found myself this week kind of wallowing in the middle of all the stuff that, you know, people send us stuff to read and all things that are going on. I was upset about companies and organizations and charities who have catered to the gay pride thing this whole month, you know, flying their flags and, and, you know, let's just be honest today. I don't guess you have to shop at Target. Wait, wait, hang on a minute. I missed the point, church. I didn't say don't. I'm trying to make a point here today. I don't, I don't guess you have to shop at Target. You don't have to drink Budweiser, but boy, that'll learn 'em. You don't have to go to another NASCAR race. You don't have to watch the NFL anymore. You know, a couple of years ago, they declared the NFL as gay, and we had guys all over, "I ain't watching it no more." But you do, because we all get caught up in the moment, and we declare things, and then we just revert right back to where we were. I understand all of that. But, but what are you going to do when all the grocery store chains become Pride friendly and put up stickers and fly flags? You gotta eat. Well, I'll find one that's not. Well, you can't, because every store is a subsidiary of a major corporation. Don't you see? What are you going to do when the medical profession comes out in sympathy for this? Are you going to say, "I won't let him operate on me. I'm changing doctors"? No, you won't do that. What about banks? And you told me the other morning you were going to work at five, it's still dark, and one of the major banks uptown was lighted up with the Gay Pride colors. What are you going to do? You're going to go take your money out of that bank? You're going to refuse to pay your mortgage? They're not getting my money, which is theirs. What if you need to buy a house? Do you have money in your pocket? Is Mama going to give it to you? You need a car. What you gonna do? You're going to Starbucks, no matter what. You're going to pay too much money for that coffee because people are, "I'm not going back there. I'm not going to support that." Yeah, you'll go to Ben and Jerry's because you like ice cream. Microsoft. You go to work, and if your company uses Microsoft, I can just see you saying, "I'm not using this system. I'm going to boycott Microsoft." Nike. And I know you're not going to quit watching television, and I know you're not going to quit using the internet. So these little spits and spats, these feelings that we have aren't doing us any good. They are side-tracking us. They are distracting us. The Bible never told you that things were going to get better. Never. The Bible never says there's going to be a great revival. The Bible says, "But evil men and seducers will get worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." And for us to miss the mission of the church, which is to proclaim Jesus and love the lost and get involved in social issues like this, believe me, friend, the devil is a master of disguise. He knows how to capitalize on your emotions and your feelings and make you turn your eyes off the goal, which is to teach, preach, warn, make disciples, shine a light, and let the love of God be shed abroad in our hearts. [Applause]
Paul said in Romans 13, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand." Wait a minute. If he said that 2,000 years ago, the darkness, the night, just about over. That means we're about to enter into the darkest time just before it dawns, just before the light breaks through. We're in it. And yet, when it happens, we're surprised, shocked, even afraid. What might happen next? Brothers and sisters, you are in a world that is doomed. You are on a planet that really is going to experience global warming, one of these days, to a degree that nobody can even imagine. Heaven and Earth are going to pass away. The Earth is going to melt away with fervent heat. But those that are in the Word of God will abide forever. God's Word will never burn up, and it will never go away. [Applause]
So the night is far spent, the day is at hand. What are we supposed to be doing? Throwing off the works of darkness, living better than we've ever lived, loving more than we've ever loved. We are not supposed to be a holy militia that have signed up to fight the movements of our society in their own world, in their own property, doing exactly what Satan is telling them to do. He's the prince of the power of the air. He's the power behind everything you see. And you say, "Well, let's bind him." Go ahead and give it a shot. The Bible already says that he's going to come on the scene one of these days, and he's going to have full control of this entire planet. No, you're not binding the devil. You are just going to have to live for Jesus, and let Jesus do the binding.
Well, here's the problem. No, here's the situation. The world is increasingly becoming intolerant of the church. We've had our day, but right now, we are a, we are an irritant, and they're really getting aggravated with this whole thing. People condemning their sins and talking about a holy God that demands a holy life. They've just about had enough of all of this because the church exposes sin. The very presence of the church judges evil. As long as the church of Jesus Christ is on this Earth, the world is going to feel uncomfortable. Kind of like, as long as there's a chaperone at the party, they can't do what they want to do. But when the chaperone leaves, they say, "Yeehaw! We can go for it now." The Holy Spirit in the church has chaperoned this dark, nasty party for a long time, and the world's had just about enough of it. Because Jesus said, "When I send the Holy Spirit, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." Meaning, when He comes into this world and operates through the church, we will automatically make sinners feel uncomfortable. We, we're not even trying. It's just Jesus on the inside. It's the Holy Spirit on the inside, and people can sense that very thing. And that's why Paul said, "We are a sweet aroma unto God, or an aroma of life, but to those who are lost, we are the smell of death." When we walk in the room, they smell their own death. God smells a beautiful aroma of redemption and righteousness. And, and He does this, "Oh, what a beautiful scent coming up in my nostrils from my church down on Earth." But as the church moves, the world goes, "Oh my God, something's dead. I smell death." And they know it's their own death. But brother, we have no option. We've got to keep singing and praising and clapping and preaching. We've got to love this world enough to go where it stinks and spread the aroma of the beautiful redemption of Jesus everywhere we go. Please say amen, somebody. [Applause]
Several times from this very pulpit, I have preached out of Genesis 19 about Sodom and Gomorrah. And you know that that is a type or a representative of the rapture of the church. You've heard it. God tells Abraham, "I'm going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah." And Abraham knows he has a nephew over there, and he has compassion, and he said, "Well, let's make a deal here, Lord. If we can find 50 people, will You spare it?" The Lord said, "If you find 50, I'll spare Sodom." Abraham got to thinking, because I think he had visited, he said, "Well, now, Lord, just bear with me. How about 45?" The Lord said, "If you can find 45, I won't do it." "Lord, bear with Your servant. How about 40?" "If you can find 40." "30." "20." "Well, Lord, I'm, I won't say anything after this. If I can find 10 people who are righteous, will You spare the city?" The Lord said, "You find ten, and I'll spare it." But there weren't ten. And so the time came, two angels of the Lord walked into the city of Sodom, and there sat Lot at the gates. Now, keep in mind, he was in Sodom, but Peter calls him righteous Lot. Righteous Lot. He went in there and tried to live the life, but the whole life seemed to overtake him, but he did create some influence. That's why he was sitting at the gate. And when he saw the two angels, he fell down and he began to worship and said, "Come to my house, let me make you a feast, and let me wash your feet." And they said, "No, we're going to spend the night in the square." Yet he urged them strongly, so they turned aside to him and entered his house, and he prepared a feast and baked bread, and they ate. But before they lay down, the men of the city surrounded the house. And of course, you know that those angels had to grab Lot, his wife, and two daughters and literally drag them out of Sodom. And this is the statement: "For we cannot destroy this place till you are gone." Now, that's the teaching on the rapture. But brother, I had a revelation yesterday. I think it was yesterday. What was going on before the angels grabbed them and dragged them out of town? Well, here it is right here. "Before they lay down." And this is where we are in our world. The Lord has not come to get us yet. The rapture has not taken place yet. So where are we, according to this? "Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, and all the people from every quarter. And they called to Lot and said to him, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.'" Other translations say other things, sexual relations, carnal relations. But Lot went out to them at the doorway and shut the door and said, "Brothers," he's calling them brothers, "don't do this. I got a couple of young daughters in here. You can have them." And they said, "Stand aside." You see, they tolerated him till he kept them from doing what they wanted to do. When his actions bespoke their sin, when they were revealing who they really are, and he said, "Don't do this," then something rose up inside of them and said, "Hey, you're not even one of us. You don't even belong here. All of a sudden, you've come in and you're acting like a judge. You're telling us that what we're doing is wrong. Get out of the way. We will treat you worse than we will treat them." And here's what I saw yesterday. You know, for many years, they have said, "Just respect us. Just give us equal rights. That's all we want. Just acceptance. Can't we just live together? Can't we all be happy and respect one another?" But now that dark is getting darker, and sin is encroaching, and some in the church are crying out even more strongly than before. They're saying, "Wait a minute. You don't judge us. We wanted acceptance, and we're getting it now. And now that we are getting recognition, we want affirmation. We don't want you just to leave us alone. We want you to know that we are right, and we want you to say we are right. Don't just stand there and look at us. Tell us we are right. Agree with our lifestyle. And if you don't, we'll force it on you." So that's where we are, brothers and sisters. If we don't, they'll force it on us. So what you've been watching for the last number of years has been this growing confidence that we have power. We have the money. We have the ability to intimidate. We can affect laws in Congress and state legislatures, even city ordinances. We're in control of this thing. And it's not just acceptance, and we don't want to just fit in. We want to be affirmed. And we are going to show you what power is. And notice what happened. They surrounded the house and said, "We want the people in your house." That's exactly Satan's tactic to bolster himself and come to the fore and flex his muscles and start to take over. And then say to the righteous, "You're going to agree with us, or we're going to do it to you." And we want the people in your house. They want the, he, Satan wants the children in your house. He wants your grandchildren. Not satisfied for you just to live over there and mind your own business. They want to take it all. They want to, they want to remove every semblance of disagreement from sin, anything that flies in their face, they want it removed. Because as long as the church is here, as long as the gospel is preached, there's a sense of condemnation. And it looks pretty bad right now, and it looks like it's picking up momentum, and the speed has doubled, and everybody's giving in, everybody's surrendering, and you almost feel like we're being surrounded. He didn't call you to fight that. He called you to say, "You won't have what's in my house." He called daddies to live on their knees, and mamas to walk around the house shedding tears and praying intercessory, intercessory prayers for their children and their grandchildren. He did not call us to get angry and fight them. He called us to humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord and let the love of God fill our hearts to the point that hatred is removed and compassion comes in and guides everything that we do. If you let the world, they're going to demand more and more that you shut your mouth, stay in your corner, and then affirm who they are. It looks really bad. But I got another verse for you: "Upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it." [Applause] Let them surround the house. God's able to strike them blind. Let them surround the house. There's a holy seed inside of that house. Let them surround the house. As a man of God in the house, a weapon for the gets you will prosper. Hallelujah. The last thing you ought to fear, and I preached it last week, the last thing you ought to feel is fear. He is Lord. He rose from the dead. He's sitting on a throne in heaven right now. The Earth is His footstool. Even demonic angels are under His control. There is no one outside of His sovereignty or His power. And if God be for you, who can be against you? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him freely give us all things? Give us our family, give us our children, give us our grandchildren. God's able to give them to us because we have asked it in His name.
Hey, now, this will be misconstrued by some as hate speech or that pastor doesn't like gays or something like that. Let me tell you how I feel about that. If you're gay and hearing this today, and if you would come up to me after church and say, "I'm gay," you know what I'll do? With your permission, I will hug you and I will say, "I preach that way because I love your soul. I'm not against you, but I'm under a commission from God to warn people that you can't get into heaven with sin in your life. You must be washed in the blood. You must be born again of incorruptible seed by the Word of God which lives and abides forever." And when you are born again, you will not live a life that's displeasing to God. When you realize the severity of dying without Jesus, brother, you'll give up everything in this world. Can I get an amen? Okay. When, when it dawns on you the consequences of leaving this world without Jesus, there won't be a, a desire, a passionate desire, a fleshly desire, a proclivity, there won't be a, a longing for anything that will be more important than knowing Jesus. You hear what I just said? So, you know, far be it from anybody to say that this church doesn't love gay people. That's why I preach this way, cause I do. I want everybody that ever darkens the doors of this church to go to heaven. I want everybody here, now, if you've been here for 30 years or 30 minutes, I want you to go to heaven. But I love you enough to tell you, you'll never get there until you kneel at the foot of the cross and say, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner." And I am willing to give up anything, anybody, and everything that I might know the redemption that is in Jesus Christ. Did I tell the truth this morning?
Well, Pastor, I own a business. What am I supposed to do? Hey, you, you've Pastor, should we continue to go there? Should we buy here? Should we participate in that? Where are you going to go to get away from it? Hello? Where will you go to get away from sin? Nowhere. So what you do is you tighten up your belt, and you know that old, was not an old saying, "Put on your big boy pants," and like a soldier, you walk into the middle of it and you say, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation." Got to live in this world, but you don't have to sin like the world.
And for this reason, Lord, I thank You. Now, our time is running out. Our opportunities are fewer. You have allowed us right now to sit in this holy place and hear Your holy Word. And we're about to partake of the holy sacrament, Your body and Your blood, which says we remember what You did, and we are reminded that You're coming again. Thank You, Jesus. So if you'll take your elements there.
If you feel this way, sing with me. Thank You, Lord, for saving my life. Even when we get to heaven, Lord, I'm not sure that we will understand the extent [Music] to which You went to redeem our souls from eternal damnation. This I know, Lord, when we get there, we'll see the nail prints in Your hands, and in Your side, and in Your feet. And throughout eternity, as You walk among us, and we work with You and reign with You, we will see those scars forever. But we will never truly know what You endured that we might be in Your presence. So I thank You today. Just as You sat with Your disciples that night and took a piece of bread, here we are, Lord. We're Your disciples today. We're Yours. And we take this bread, and we are reminded that Your body was broken for us, that You endured pain beyond description and agony that I might stand here today and say, "Jesus Christ is Lord." That we, we might walk out of this building in full assurance that Jesus will never leave us. So I thank You for this little piece of bread of life. You are, satisfy our souls. You do. We worship You by eating this. [Music] Lord, only an observer on that day. Well, all of them would have been amazed at the, the amount of blood that poured out of Your head and Your body. Every drop of it poured out because You were stabbed and beaten for our transgressions, wounded for our iniquities, for us. [Music] And that blood represented the final, full, free payment to God the Father for all the sins we've ever committed, paid in full, gone forever, washed in the blood of Jesus. So we take this little cup and we drink all of it, and we say, "We will do this till You come again." Come, Lord Jesus. Come, Lord Jesus. Stand with me, please. All right. [Music] Let's do it again. Holy Spirit just spoke to me and told me to pray for our sons and daughters who are caught up in this lifestyle. If there's anybody who knows the pain of that and you'd like to join me down here right now, you've got a child or someone you love that's caught up in the darkness, whatever that may be, come down here. Come join me. We are going to pray the prayer of faith in the authority of the name of Jesus. We have just eaten His bread, been drunk as blood. We are disciples of the Most High God. We are the church on this Earth. Does anybody believe that intercessory prayer works? Come down. Move in a little closer. I didn't know this many people were coming. Come in a little bit. This is not a joke. We're about to confront some seriously mean devils right here, but they've already been defeated in the name of Jesus Christ. He has given us the victory. Everybody down here, I'll wait now. Come on. I've got time for us to think for half a second that we got to lie down and take this. Makes no sense to our Lord, not when He said, "Behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you." There is more power in one Christian right now than in all of hell. They're still coming, and I'm still gonna wait. Nothing is as painful as watching a child destroy himself or herself. Nothing is as scary as thinking that our grandchildren are being desensitized to the very thing that breaks the heart of God. Ready? [Music] Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Father, in the name of Jesus, by the authority of the Holy Ghost, we stand in Your very throne room. We've entered into Your throne room by the flesh of Jesus. The veil has been rent, and here we stand. Lord, we stand as moms and dads and grandmas and grandpas and aunts and uncles and brothers and sisters. We come on behalf of those whose minds have been blinded by Satan, Your adversary. We come to You and we ask You, Lord, because You told us we could. We ask You to break, snap, pop the chains of blindness. And for those that think they have no choice but to be this way, we ask for the light of the truth to suddenly blind them, and may they see that there is power in Jesus, and Jesus can break every fetter in that life. Lord, I don't know where some of them are right now. I've prayed it many times. Some of them may be laying up in a bed full of drugs right now. Somebody may be led up in a bed of homosexuality right now, or adultery. Some may be trying to find a way to get more in their veins right now. Some are running as hard as they can right now, but there's a great lasso called the truth of God. I pray that You will fling it and bring them back, and let them find themselves at the foot of the old rugged cross. Lord, we're not just pretending. This is life and death to us. You died and rose again to give us the power to do exactly what we're doing right now. So I don't want to address devils, Lord. I'm addressing You. But I know this, when we speak the name of Jesus, devils have to leave, and demons have to flee, and hellish power has to be broken. So here we are, all together, agreeing together that salvation is coming to our house. And though they surround us, they don't have the power to destroy us if Jesus [Applause] You can open their minds because, Lord, they were brought up the right way. We brought them up the right way. They know about Jesus. They know that sin is wrong. But somehow they got tricked. They stumbled. But we're asking You, Lord, to let the truth that was embedded in them at home suddenly rise up. Let light and the water of life make this seed germinate, and may they come to life today knowing there is no other way except the way of the Lord God. [Music] Yes, and if you believe God heard and God is a prayer-answering God, let's thank Him with the last breath in our lungs this morning. Hallelujah. [Applause] Hallelujah. Lord, is it too much to thank You in advance that somebody's going to get a phone call and say, "Mom, Dad, I can't do this anymore. I need Jesus." Hallelujah. Lord, is it too much to thank You in advance that a car is going to drive up in the driveway and Chi or he's going to get out and say, "I can't do this anymore. Somebody pray. Pray, Daddy, pray. I gotta have hell." Or is it too much to believe, Lord, that right where they are right now, even if they are alone, the Spirit of the Living God can walk right in and lift up their head and remind them who they are in Jesus Christ. And the whole church said, amen. [Applause] [Music] Hallelujah. I've really held myself back today because we got visitors here, but if you come back next Sunday, I, I don't know. [Music]
