The blood of Jesus is the most referenced, most sung about, and least understood reality in the Christian faith. Every believer knows the blood was shed. Every believer knows it was shed for their sins. And every believer includes some reference to the blood in their prayers, usually as a closing line or a protective covering.
But almost none of them understand what the blood is actually doing right now in real time in the heavenly realm that directly affects the power, the confidence, and the effectiveness of every prayer they pray. There is a revelation about the blood that the early church understood, that the New Testament writers documented, and that EW Kenyon spent years teaching. A revelation that has been largely forgotten by the modern church.
And when you recover it, the way you pray will change so fundamentally that you will look back on your previous prayer life and realize you were praying at half power your entire Christian life. It did not simply accomplish something 2,000 years ago and then become a historical footnote. And then they move on to the business of praying, confessing, believing, and exercising authority without any consciousness of what the blood is doing at this very moment to support, empower, and accelerate everything they are doing in prayer.
The result is a prayer life that operates without the awareness of its most powerful backing. Imagine a diplomat who has been sent to negotiate on behalf of the most powerful nation on earth. He has the full authority of his government behind him. He has the military power, the economic resources and the legal standing of the entire nation backing every word he says at the negotiating table. But he does not know it. He thinks he is negotiating alone. He thinks the power behind his words is limited to his own intelligence and his own persuasiveness. And so he negotiates timidly, uncertain of his standing, unsure of his leverage and willing to accept terms far beneath what his government has authorized him to demand.
That is the picture of a believer who prays without the consciousness of the blood. The backing is there, the authority is there, the power is there, but the awareness is absent. And without the awareness, the prayer operates at a fraction of its intended potency.
EW Kenyon exposed this deficiency with a statement that should provoke every praying Christian to examine what they know about the blood's present ministry. "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us."
Jesus entered the heavenly holy place with his own blood, not a symbolic representation of his blood, his actual blood. And that blood was presented before the throne of God as the full and final payment for every sin. But notice the verse does not say the blood was presented and then removed. It was presented and it remains. The blood of Jesus is in the heavenly holy place right now. It has not been withdrawn. It has not expired. It has not lost its potency. It is there, present, active, and speaking.
Hebrews 12:24 confirms the active present tense function of the blood: "And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things than that of Abel." The blood speaks present tense right now. It is not silent. It is not resting. It is actively speaking in the heavenly realm at this very moment. And what it speaks is better than what Abel's blood spoke. Abel's blood cried for vengeance. Christ's blood speaks for pardon, for acceptance, for access, for authority.
Every time you pray, the blood is speaking on your behalf simultaneously. Your words are ascending from earth. The blood's testimony is sounding in heaven. And the combination of your faith-filled prayer and the blood's continuous advocacy produces a spiritual force that nothing in hell can resist.

But the blood renders your behavioral record irrelevant to your access. Hebrews 10:19 says, "Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus." When you pray in the name of Jesus and you are conscious that the blood of Jesus is actively supporting your prayer in the heavenly realm, you are not praying with just the authority of your identity. You are praying with the authority of your identity plus the advocacy of the blood. The blood is your legal counsel in the courtroom of heaven. It is speaking on your behalf. It is presenting the evidence of your redemption, and it is doing so with a voice that the judge of all the earth cannot ignore because the blood is His own Son's blood, and its testimony is perfect, complete, and irrefutable.

It is about their standing. They are not sure they have the right to expect a response. But the blood eliminates that uncertainty entirely because the blood has already established your standing. It has already declared your righteousness. It has already secured your access. And a prayer that is backed by the blood is a prayer that has a legal right to expect a response.
1 John 5:14-15 says, "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." The confidence described in that verse is not a psychological state you work yourself into. It is a legal certainty produced by the blood's continuous testimony in the heavenly realm. You know He hears you because the blood has secured your access. And because you know He hears you, you know you have the petitions. The entire chain of confidence rests on the blood.
Let me give you a vivid picture of what is happening in the heavenly realm. Every time you kneel to pray, imagine a courtroom. You are the plaintiff. You are bringing a case before the judge of all the earth. The case is your need, your petition, your request, your declaration of the word over your circumstances. In any earthly courtroom, the strength of your case depends on the quality of your evidence and the competence of your attorney. But in the heavenly courtroom, you have something no earthly plaintiff has ever had. You have the blood of the eternal Son of God serving as both the evidence and the attorney.
The blood testifies that your sins have been paid for. The blood testifies that your righteousness is established. The blood testifies that the covenant is in force. The blood testifies that your access is legal, your standing is secure, and your right to petition the throne is irrevocable. And the judge, who is your Father, looks at the blood and sees not your failures, but the perfect sacrifice that answers for them. He sees not your unworthiness, but the worthiness of the Lamb whose blood was presented on your behalf. And He rules in your favor, not because you deserved it, because the blood merited it.
Hebrews 9:22 establishes the non-negotiable role of blood in the entire economy of redemption: "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." Without blood, no remission. Without blood, no forgiveness. Without blood, no access. Without blood, no standing. Everything in the covenant rests on the blood. And they loved not their lives unto the death." They overcame by the blood and by the word of their testimony. The blood and the spoken word together. The blood provides the legal authority. The word of testimony provides the vocal expression, and the combination is an overcoming force that the enemy cannot withstand.
When you pray with the consciousness that the blood of Jesus is backing every word you speak, and you speak those words in faith in alignment with the word of God, you are deploying the two most powerful weapons in the universe simultaneously: the blood and the word of your testimony. And the enemy who stands against that combination is an enemy who has already lost.
Kenyon connected Revelation 12:11 directly to the daily prayer life with a statement that should inform every prayer you ever pray again. He wrote, "The blood and your testimony are a combined weapon. The blood provides the legal standing. Your testimony provides the declaration. Colossians 1:20 adds one more dimension that should permanently reshape your understanding of the blood's reach: "And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven." The blood has established peace in the entire cosmos. And when you pray, you are praying within a universe that has been reconciled to God by the blood. The spiritual atmosphere has been cleared by the blood. The legal environment has been established by the blood. And the prayer that is conscious of this cosmic peace operates with a freedom and a confidence that the blood-ignorant believer cannot access.
You are not praying alone. You are not praying unsupported. You are not praying into a void and hoping that someone in heaven notices. You are praying with the most powerful legal advocate in the universe actively working on your behalf. The blood of Jesus is in the heavenly holy place right now. Speaking right now, testifying right now, declaring your righteousness right now, securing your access right now, and backing every word you speak with the full authority of the covenant it ratified.
When you pray, you pray with the blood. And when you pray with the blood, you pray with the power of an eternal covenant that God Himself established, sealed, and guaranteed with the most precious substance in the universe, the blood of His own Son.
Kenyon expressed this with a weight that should settle permanently into the spirit of every praying believer. He wrote, "The blood of Jesus has changed the nature of prayer forever. It is no longer the cry of a sinner hoping to be heard. It is the confident declaration of a righteous son, sealed by blood, backed by covenant, and guaranteed a response by the faithfulness of the God who made the covenant."
When you understand what the blood has done and what it is doing right now, prayer becomes the most powerful activity a human being can engage in. Because it is not just you speaking, it is you speaking with the blood behind you. And the blood has never lost a case. The blood has never lost a case. That is the revelation. That is the forgotten truth restored. And it belongs to you every time you open your mouth in prayer.
