Uh I heard a message one time and I've been tempted to to try to attempt to preach it ever since I've been here and I haven't. But I heard a message one time it he titled it the autopsy of a backslider. the autopsy of a backslider. You can go back and look at their their attendance. You can go back and look at their giving. You can look look across all these different areas and you'll find out, hey, their their heart wasn't here to begin with. Hallelujah. That's just the way it is. But I want him to know that I've got a heart after him. I love him and I want more of him. I'm thankful for what he's done. I want to give him more because he's given me more. Hallelujah.

Thank you so much for your worship. Uh, I am so thankful for this youth praise team. Didn't they do a tremendous job? >> Thank you young people for leading us in worship. I'm telling you, our young people are important. They are important. Thank you so much for your dedication and practice and prayer that you put into the the worship services on Wednesday night. I'm I'm I'm humbled by our young people. But we've got a great group of young people. That's ain't you thankful for our youth group. Hallelujah.
It's good to have my mother-in-law and my grandmother-in-law uh here tonight. They they came a little bit early for Easter. And uh I love it when they come. I'm telling you, they they watch these services now. They they know more about what's going on around here than many of us. Hallelujah. They are our number one fans. I'll tell you that. They are they are praying for us. They are worshiping with us. Uh they are I'm that they encourage me. They'll text me and tell me great job preaching or whatever the case. Uh I'm thankful for them. I love them and I'm so glad we're going to get to spend a few days together. Our our kids love it when they they come, too.
I'm going to talk to you just uh well, I'm not going to say just a few minutes. I I made sure we got through this first part pretty fast and so I'd have a little bit more time. But don't be scared. Don't be scared. I I prepared I prepared something and uh got ready to preach it and and God changed it this evening. Um that hasn't happened very much. But I went to writing. I went to write and I've wrote for the p last 4 hours today. Ever since 2 o'clock, I've been I've been writing. Uh God's been speaking to me. I want you to know that this this ain't just something that I found or I I I grabbed from. This ain't just this is something God gave me. And uh it's going to help us tonight. It's going to help us.
Anybody ready? >> Anybody ready for some help? Anybody come for some help? Hallelujah. I didn't come to be tickled. Hallelujah. I didn't come to be massaged. Hallelujah. I come for somebody to push me and prone me and and and and pick say, "Hey, you can you can get it together. Get get your right mind together. Get get your heart right. I I need somebody to tell me like it is. I need somebody to tell it to me straight. Don't beat around the bush. We've got a bunch of uh beat around the bush preachers. Hallelujah. I want somebody that's going to tell it to me. Give it to me in Jesus name. Anybody want that? >> That's what I want. That's what I was looking for one day. Hallelujah. I wanted to find somebody that would talk to me, somebody to preach to me. I I can, man, I can find anybody that'll tell me what I want to hear. Anywhere, anyway. They're all over. They're on every corner. But give me somebody that'll tell me what the book says and what God says and and what's happening. Hallelujah. I man I'm excited.
We're going to look just remain seated. I gave them a whole chapter. Uh and I didn't tell them which one was first, second, or third. Uh let's go to Numbers 11 verse number 29. Let's just read that one to begin with. Use that one as our launching pad because that one is where I where I the title where the title comes out of this out of this passage right here. Numbers chapter 11 verse number 29. Moses said unto him, "Enviest thou for my sake. Would God that all the Lord's people were prophets?" Everybody say prophets. He said, "Would God that all the Lord's people were prophets and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them?"
I want to talk to you for the next little bit about Give Give me the slide. I I can't even remember what I told you because I wrote something else down. I wish you were all prophets. Moses said, 'I wished all of you were prophets. He He said, 'I GOD WOULD GOD THAT ALL OF YOU WERE PROPHETS. And I'm going to talk to you tonight. I wish you were all prophets.
Numbers chapter 11 is a very interesting, a very complex passage of scripture. Something happens in this chapter that is that is very unfortunate. I'm going to I'm going to try to make some room up here. I I wasn't prepared for this to have 20 pages of notes. Uh let's see. I want to We'll just see what we can do here. My goodness. I don't want to close my Bible and I don't we'll we'll just make it work. Man, one time, one time I was preaching, I just when I got done with a page, I'd just throw it in the floor. I might do that tonight. Hallelujah.
Something very interesting happens in this chapter that is is very unfortunate. Let's go to Numbers chapter uh 11 verse number one. Let's go all the way back. So, we just read chapter 29 in our beginning that Moses said, "I I wish all of you were prophets." But let's get a little bit of the backstory here. Let's look let's look back and see what uh has set this up that what put this into motion. Verse number one. And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord. Well, my goodness. Ain't that interesting? Y'all didn't Y'all didn't even need me to tell you that. Y'all didn't have to have a prophet to tell you that. When the people complained, it displeased the Lord. He He didn't LIKE IT. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. It displeased him then. It still displeases him. When we complain, when we murmur, LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. IT DON'T DIS DISPLEASE the pastor. It don't just displease your spouse or or or your friends or your or or or the the Sunday school teachers. Let me tell you, when you complain, it displeases the Lord. Complaining is the best way to get him uh displeased. when you're not grateful, when you're not thankful for what he's done or what he's doing. HE HAS BROUGHT THEM OUT OF EGYPT. HE CARRIED THEM THROUGH THE RED SEA. He delivered them from slavery and now they want to complain. Let me tell you, he wrote it in there for us. It displeased him. It displeased him. And the Lord heard it, and his anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. Still today in 2026, complaining displeases the Lord. Do you have anything good to say? Can you find anything good to say? IS IS THE CHURCH DOING GOOD? IS PEOPLE RECEIVING THE HOLY GHOST? >> IS PEOPLE BEING BAPTIZED IN JESUS NAME? IS THE CHURCH GROWING? >> LOOK AT THE GOOD THINGS. >> It I'm TELLING YOU, HE SAID, "I BUILT THIS ON THE ROCK AND THE GATES OF HELL IS NOT GOING TO PREVAIL. >> I DON'T CARE, BROTHER R.J. HOW BAD IT GETS, >> HOW MUCH PEOPLE COMPLAIN. the church is going to be okay. Find out what's good about the church. Talk good about it. Don't complain. Don't don't don't look for the bad. My lord, anybody, brother Livingston, if we wanted to if we wanted to knock this wall out, one day we're going to one day. It's coming. Let me just prophesy. The wall is going to get knocked out. The stage is going to get moved back and the sanctuary is going to be bigger >> cuz we're going to have a new fellowship hall in a building behind us with a gymnasium and a family life center. When we get ready to knock this wall out, I'm telling you, we can give we can give brother Isaiah a hammer and he can do a good job of tearing it out. Anybody can tear something down. >> Put you an ad on social media and tell them you're hiring. You need a demolition crew. And you can find you a bunch of people. Pay them whatever you want to. I don't care if you pay them $5 an hour. They'll be lined up out there because it's easy, man. How many hours you want me to tear this up because I can do it. WE CAN GIVE ALL ALL OF THESE guys a hammer. Any of you can tear this wall out, man. It it actually be pretty fun, too, wouldn't it? you'd enjoy it. I've tore some walls out. I know how much fun it is. Brother Bister, he tears one out a week in Ocala, Florida. Every every week he's tearing out a wall. But it's easy, Brother Davis. Anybody can tear down the church. Anybody can talk bad about it. Anybody can see what's going wrong. It don't take a a a genius to figure OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE CHURCH. AND IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A PERFECT ONE, THE FAMOUS SAYING IS DON'T JOIN IT BECAUSE IT WON'T BE PERFECT NO MORE. When you get there, it'll be messed up. Hallelujah. I'm so glad God gave me this tonight. But we can, man, it don't matter what size hammer you give them. They might they'll probably have this tore down in a day, but put you ad put you an ad out on telling somebody you need a wall built. Put you one up that says, "Hey, we got a we got to build a a stage and a wall back. We got we got to we've got one tore down, but we need somebody." There's going to be very few people that knows how to put it back together. There's going to be very few contractors sign up to say, "Hey, I know how to build a wall." Very few people is going to say, "HEY, I I KNOW HOW TO BUILD A WALL. WHERE'S THE PEOPLE THAT KNOW HOW TO BUILD?" ANYBODY CAN TEAR IT DOWN. ANYBODY, BROTHER SMIRE, CAN COMPLAIN. Anybody can talk about what's wrong with it. Anybody can tear it down. But there's few that can build it back. Let me tell you what we're looking for today. We're looking for builders. God is looking for people that wants to build his kingdom. Hell is trying to tear it down. Hell is signing up people every day to complain and talk about it and see what's going wrong with it. >> Those those X-ray glasses are working good. They they they can see what's h they know what's wrong. But is THERE ANYBODY THAT CAN FIND OUT WHAT'S RIGHT? Is there ANYBODY THAT CAN BUILD THE CHURCH? HALLELUJAH. I must be doing good. It sure is quiet. My pastor says it's tight, but it's right. It's tight, but it's right. One of my kids was trying to say that the other day. It wasn't coming out the same. But let me tell you something. He is looking for builders. Won't you won't you put on your contractor eyes and say how can I build this thing? Where where can I put where can the board be fitly frame together? Hello where where can where can this this nail be in a sure place? Where where can I put this thing where it'll stay and it'll stick? Yeah, that's what he's looking for. Anybody can complain. And let me tell you what complaining does. It displeases the Lord. He don't like it. Not the pastor. The Lord. Let me tell you, the prophet didn't like it either. Moses didn't like it. He He said in our text, he said, "I wish all of you were prophets." And And don't let me get ahead of myself. Let me I'm still on page one. I didn't number the pages. I think there's about 25 probably though. Still on page one. They Let me tell you what they should have been doing. They should have been praising God because they wasn't in slavery anymore. >> They should have been praising God because they have been freed from the bondage of sin. That's what we need to be doing. I I remember a day when I wasn't free. Can Can you think back to when you when you didn't have it together? When you wasn't all it all wasn't brother Thomas all worked out. When when I was when I was laying in my bed crying when when I WAS THINKING, "GOD, HELP ME. SEND SOMEBODY. I NEED SOMEBODY TO HELP ME." and somebody came and you found your way to an altar and God filled you with the Holy Ghost. Has it been that far back? It's a short distance from from hosana to crucify. It's a short distance from from being filled to to and being be uh to to to complaining to find to finding fault. It's a very very short distance. be careful with all that. They should have been praising. When we complain, it looks bad on God. He's the one that's taking care of us. He's the one that's providing for us. AND WHEN WE TALK ABOUT OUR SITUATION AND WE COMPLAIN ABOUT WHAT WE'RE GOING THROUGH, WE ARE JUST ACCUSING him of not DOING A GOOD JOB TAKING CARE OF US. WELL, FIRST, let's finish. Did we finish verse number one? Because we got 30, 29 more verses. Verse number one. Put it back up there. I don't know what you came expecting tonight, but this is what it is. The fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed them. They complained and God killed a bunch of people. They complained and he said, 'You know what? I'm just going to kill a bunch of you. I would say that God hates complaining. Wouldn't you say that? That's what it sounds like to me. It sounds like that sounds like enough to stop the complaining. I don't think I'd complain anymore after I seen a bunch of people die.
Let's look at verse number two. This was the same people. Let's read it. The people cried unto Moses and when Moses prayed unto the Lord, the fire was quenched. The people cried, they went running to Moses. They This is the same people that were griping and complaining about Moses. They they they was murmuring and complaining about Moses. The same people when God killed a bunch of them, they ran to Moses. THEY COME RUNNING TO MOSES. MOSES, GOD'S KILLING US. DON'T YOU THINK MOSES WANTED TO say that you you wouldn't listen to me? DON'T RUN TO ME. WHY ARE YOU COMING TO ME? BECAUSE I TRIED TO TELL YOU. DON'T YOU THINK HE wanted to say that? He said, "Don't run to me when you're in trouble." I'm sure he wanted to say that. Page one. If you're not going to take my counsel, don't you don't you think he said, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO LISTEN to me, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE MY ADVICE, DON'T YOU THINK HE WANTED TO SAY, DON'T COME NOW? BUT YOU KNOW WHAT HE DONE? HE PRAYED FOR HIM. HE STOOD IN THE GAP FOR HIM. >> THEY HAD TALKED ABOUT HIM. THEY HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT HIM. AND NOW HE WAS THE ONLY THING between them and a good marshmallow roasting. I'm telling you, the fire of heaven was coming down, Brother Livingston. And Moses prayed for him and God stopped the fire. Now, we we want a man. We we want somebody to intercede for us. We want a man to to to go to the throne for us. We want somebody whenever it's good for us. Whenever it's what we want, whenever it's what we got in mind, when it fits our agenda, when it fits our expectation. Hey, we we want to Man, where you at, pastor? Where you at, prophet? Where you at, Mo? But but when he's trying to tell you, hey, I I see something that ain't ain't too good. I I see something that that ain't going to work out if you do it. Then you and and they turn their backs on him and they they rebel and they talk about him and they complain. As long as it's going good for him, they was okay. But they didn't want to be roasted. They went to they went to Moses and they he prayed for them.
Let's go to verse number three. We're going to make our way through. I don't need any texting during church either. If anybody's texting, just hold off. We'll be done. We'll be done with church in just a few minutes. You can just set the phones down. Uh, let's go to verse number three. And he called the name of the place to bear because THE FIRE OF THE LORD burnt among them. Tarah. This is what complaining produces. When murmuring turns to judgment, the complaining turned to judgment. And the place, THIS ALSO WAS THE PLACE WHERE THE MAN OF God interceded for him. MOSES PRAYED AND THE fire stopped.
Numbers 11 verse number four. I want us to get this picture. This is very important. and the mixed multitude that was among them fail lusting and the children of Israel. So look here, there's a there's a separation that the word of God uh distinguishes here. There's this two groups here that that really gets confused as one group. But brother Coleman, I never seen this until I got to got to digging into this. the mixed multitude that was among them failed a lusting and the children of Israel also wept. So there was two there was two groups here. There was a mixed multitude group and there was the children of Israel. Two groups a mixed multitude. Some of these were Egyptians THAT HAD JUST TRAVELED WITH ISRAEL. When you you can dig into it and look to it. This was some Egyptians THAT WAS JUST TIRED OF BEING IN in in Egypt. They they said, "You know what? Let's go with them. LET'S JUST TRAVEL WITH THEM. LET'S GET OUT OF HERE. LET'S let's uh let's get out of this place. I'm tired of Egypt. Let's just go with these people. Their God has delivered them and and we're going to go over there with them." So, the mixed multitude, they they started lusting and they started desiring the things of Egypt. They was just some that was upset with Egypt and decided to leave with them. the Israel slaves.
Let's look at uh let's look at what happened. Go to go to verse number five. They said, "We remember the fish which we did eat in Egypt freely, the cucumbers, the melons, the leaks, the onions, and the garlic." The Israel slaves, they wasn't eating garlic and fish and melons and leaks. I we get confused about this. This was the mixed multitude that was eating these things and they got they got the Israelites the the children of Israel to lusting and wanting this food too. THEY THEY RUBBED OFF ON THEM. The the Israel slaves was not eating fine food. THE MIXED MULTITUDE FELL lusting and Israel joined them in the complaining. Be careful. Be careful what's happening around you. I know we talk about it a lot, but be careful about what group you're around. Be careful about what friends you have uh talking in your ear. Be careful. It they're going to get to complaining and then you get to complaining. They're going to get to talking and then you get to talking. Be careful. Let me tell you that there's there's a spiritual warfare going on and you be careful about what you let come out of your mouth. I was thinking about it today. I didn't put it in my notes, but but the same when they when they done the tow tower of Babel, God devised their language about what they were saying that they couldn't understand each other no more. When he filled them with the Holy Ghost in Acts chapter 2, he gave them one language. He brought the language back together. Let me tell you, what you say is going to determine what you're unified with. It's going to come out of your mouth. You're going to speak the abundance of the heart. And you say, "Well, wow. Where where did that come from? Where where did that it came out of your heart? It was there. Be careful. Be careful about that because he said, "How can sweet water and bitter water come out of the same spout? You got to get a hold of what's coming out of your Hey, you can't Many times you can't control what's coming in your ears. Many times you can, but you can control what comes out."
Verse number five. Let's look at 5-6. We remember. Okay, go to number six. But now our soul was dried away and there's nothing at all besides this mana. They they they they wasn't grateful for the mana. They wasn't grateful for God's provision. They they didn't they was no longer thankful for what God was doing. They had their eyes on something else. They wanted something else. They It wasn't enough to be delivered from bondage. It wasn't enough that God fed them mana from heaven. They they was complaining. They was asking for more. Be careful when you continually asking for something else. Be careful when you don't when you don't get a hold of the gratitude and the and the weight of what God's doing right now.
Let's skip down to verse number 10. Verse number 10. Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families. Every man in the door of his tent, the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly. Moses also was displeased. Verse number 11. Moses Moses heard that Moses said unto the Lord, "Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? Wherefore have I not found favor in thy sight that thou layst the burden of all this people on me? Verse number 12. Mo here's what Moses started saying. He he tried Moses tried to resign. Moses said, "If I can't resign, God just kill me. This this is a burden. These people are complaining. They're not grateful. I'm trying to get people to live for God. I'm trying to get people to come out from among them. I I'm trying to get people to to to BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT GOD'S DOING. GOD, I I can't take THIS NO MORE. GOD, JUST let's read what happened. I I've conceived uh all of this people. I've I've begotten them that thou shouldest say unto me, carry them in thy bosom as a nursing father beareth such that the the sucking child unto the land which thou swearest unto the fathers. Uh verse, let's go all the way to 15 with this one. I'm trying to lay a foundation. When when should I have flesh? When should I have flesh to give to all this people? He's like, where are we going to get flesh? They was they was desiring flesh. Give us flesh that we may eat. Verse number 14. I am I am not able to bear all this people because it's too heavy for me. Verse number 15. If thou deal THUS WITH ME, KILL ME. MOSES SAID, "KILL ME. I pray thee out of thy hand. If I found favor, IF YOU GOD, IF YOU LOVE ME, JUST KILL ME. THIS THIS IS A HEAVY BURDEN. Th this people is IS COMPLAINING. THEY'RE NOT GRATEFUL. I I've BROUGHT THEM THROUGH SO MUCH. I'VE KEPT THEIR MARRIAGE TOGETHER. HEY, THEY'VE GOT A ROOF OVER THEIR HEAD. THEIR KIDS ARE IN CHURCH. THEY'RE WHAT ELSE DO THEY WANT? WHAT ELSE DO THEY WANT? >> I'M I'M PROVIDING FOR THEM. >> Verse number 18, the Lord said unto Moses, "Gather 70 men. Let me just let me just tell you what's happening here." He He says, "Get you some people together." And and and and things start happening. People start getting on board. Uh, I'm not going to read I'm not I got to skip ahead. God said, he said, "I'm about to give you what you're asking for, but you ain't going to like it." Man, I I think I I think I missed I think I missed something here. Verse number. Yeah. I need I need to get this. Let's look. Let's read all of that. 18 through Let's go to 19. You shall not eat one day. They was desiring flesh. You shall not eat two days, nor five days, neither 10 days, nor 20 days, but even a whole month until it come out. He said, I'm gonna give you so much of what you're desiring, it's going to come out of your nostrils. He said, "You are going to be you're going to have so much of it. You're going to be sick of it. Be careful what you're asking for. Be careful what you're desiring because there they there might come a day that God says, "You know what, big boy? I'm going to give it to you. I I you you're asking for it. You're asking for it. Now, now you're going to have it." BE CAREFUL LIVING YOUR LIFE ALWAYS WISHING IT WAS DIFFERENT. BE CAREFUL LIVING YOUR LIFE ALWAYS WISHING IT WAS DIFFERENT. >> BE CAREFUL LIVING YOUR LIFE ALWAYS WISHING IT WAS DIFFERENT. It's complaining. It's not being grateful. It's not There's nothing wrong with wanting to do better. But be thankful where you're at. Be thankful how far God has brought you. Be thankful for what he's done. Do not be complaining. Do not be murmuring. ALWAYS WANTING SOMETHING DIFFERENT. NEVER SATISFIED. That's that's the you can sum this up in a couple words. Never satisfied. Never satisfied. Never. God said because they won't shut up. I'm about to give them but they I'm about to give it to them but they're not going to like it.
Let's go to verses 24. Verse 24. I know that's this is the part I wanted to skip. Let's go to 27. They they gathered up 70 to help him prophesy. In verse number 27, when they there ran a young man and and told Moses, El Dad and Midad do prophesy in the camp. Verse number 28. And Joshua the son of Nun, the the servant of Moses, one of his young men answered and said, "My Lord, Moses forbid them." He said, "Hey, there's a couple of guys trying to prophesy." He said, Joshua said, Moses, hey, they're they're trying to they're trying to prophesy. And Moses, he goes into this this our text and he said, I wish all of you were prophets. I wish all of you could get a hold of this. I I I wish all of you could could see what I see. I I wish all of you could could pray like I pray. I wish all of you could study this word like I know it. Moses was saying, I WISH ALL OF YOU WERE PROPHETS. HE WAS SAYING WE WOULDN'T HAVE SO MANY problems if all of you were prophets. They wouldn't be so much complaining.
Verse number uh 33. And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, while it was still in their I mean they they didn't even have time to get a toothpick. They had ate so much meat it was still stuck in their teeth. They had gathered it day and night. We skipped over that verse, but they had THEY HAD SPENT ALL DAY gathering up the quail. THEY HAD SPENT ALL NIGHT gathering up the flesh. THEY HAD SPENT ALL DAY THE NEXT DAY, MAN. THEY HAD SO MUCH FLESH, SO MUCH MEAT TO EAT, GOD GAVE IT TO THEM. AND WHILE IT WAS STILL IN THEIR TEETH, and it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people. And the Lord smoked the people with a very great plague. And he called the name of that place Kibroth Hadawa. He called the name of that place Kil Kibroth Hadiva because they they buried they buried the people that lusted buried with their lust, buried with their complaining. Let me tell you what's going to happen with your complaining with your ungratefulness. When you're when you're not satisfied, you're going to find yourself in a grave with it. in a spiritual grave. You're going to be dead. You're going to be buried with all that complaining. All the complaining and all the murmuring and all the dissatisfaction will lead to a spiritual grave. It's headed that way. There's there's no way around it. There there's no way to they they was buried with their lust, buried with their complaining. They was buried with their talking about the church. They were buried with talking ABOUT EACH OTHER, MURMURING ABOUT MOSES. HELLO. They found theirel in a they called this place Kibroth Hadava buried the place where we buried the lust. It will bury you. It will be your grave.
You might be saying, "Why in the world are you talking about this tonight, preacher? Why are you talking about this tonight? Let me tell you something. We live in a changing landscape. The spirit of the day is changing. We need to be reminded in 2026. We need a discernment and we need a pastor. Hallelujah. Man, that's the question of the day today in 2026. Who is your pastor? people people coming and and checking out the church and trying out the church and and I ask them I say who's who's your pastor people coming you know checking out this church and I say well have you talked to your pastor about that you cannot SKIP OVER THIS YOU HAVE GOT TO PUT a spiritual authority in your life >> and and I believe in it so much that I have it in my life. Hallelujah. I have it in my life. It is the the most needed thing in this hour. We need a pastor. We need to listen to our pastor. This is Hey, this was hard for me to write. This was hard to write, folks. We need to listen. We we we need to Oh, it's hard to write. I wrestled with God on this. But here is some things that he immediately dropped in my spirit while I was writing this. You can say this, Pastor Foresight. You can say this because you have a pastor. I CAN TALK ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I HAVE ONE. I understand authority. I if you don't understand authority, you will meet a day that you have to understand this. There will be a day coming. Some of you are already here. And I apologize that this is this is so strong, but man, it's got to be said. IT'S GOT TO BE TALKED ABOUT. YOU I CAN SAY THIS BECAUSE I HAVE ONE. THIS WILL PROBABLY SHOCK YOU, BUT IF HE WOULD HAVE CALLED ME today and told me to get to Sebastapool, I would have called somebody else to come preach and paid him. That's how much I believe in it. That's the kind of submission that I've got to have. You'll never be able to lead people unless you can be led. >> There's authority everywhere. You have a boss. You have a manager. There's an owner of that business. It's everywhere in the physical. There's a uniform. There's a badge. There's a It's that way in the spiritual. There is places of authority. And let me tell you something. I would not get on the complaining bus. I would not get on the murmuring bus. I I I would not. This is This is rare. Let me tell you what I just told you. What I just told you is rare for a pastor to say. There's there's a whole bunch of pastors that don't have anybody that can call them and say, "Hey, I I need you to check in tonight." There's a whole bunch of them that don't have any spiritual authority. There's a whole bunch of them that don't have a pastor. They don't have anybody that can say, "This is rare. What I'm telling you tonight is rare that that that somebody could tell a pastor this that that A PASTOR WOULD HAVE A PASTOR.
Let's look at what it said in what Jesus said about this. Matthew I didn't give you this. I'm sorry. Matthew chapter 8 and verse number eight. If you can get it for me. Matthew chapter 8 and verse number eight. This is a good example of of Jesus recognizing something very similar to this. Mo Moses said, "I wish you were all prophets. I wish you all understood this. I wish you all could see. The centurion answered and said,"Lord, I am not worthy that thou should us come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed." Verse number nine, "For I am a man under authority." He said, I understand authority. I have I have soldiers under me. I say unto this man, GO, AND HE GOETH, and to another, "Come," and he cometh. I know I I speak, and he does it. I I know authority. Verse number 10. When Jesus heard it, he marveled. He marvels at people understanding authority. It It's rare in these days. Yeah. If you've been in the church a long time and you understand, hey, we used to we we used to have a pastor. We knew who our pastor was. We he Hey, we we knew Hey, we respected him. We we heard we we knew that we could go to him. We could he he would intercede for us. Jesus marveled when he seen this. I'll just say it. This is why people are interested in coming here from other churches. This is people are interested. We was a part of a church that that they were flocking to because pastors had changed. pastors was just get saying what their ears was itching to hear saying blessings, blessings, blessings. God's going to bless you, walk you out of it, heal you, all this stuff. But they wasn't preaching the the meat. They ain't none of them preaching the meat today. I I not I I take that back. I don't want to say none of them, but I'm telling you, it's rare. It's rare. I When they come here, I ask them, "Who's your pastor?" I I I That's the first thing I want to know. Has has he released you? Have you talked to him about this?
So, back to my pastor. If he called me, I let me tell you something. I've never tried to negotiate with my pastor. I never tried to negotiate with him, brother Livingston. Man, if he if I asked him something, he said it. I said, "Yes, sir." I never tried to negotiate with him. I I I didn't try to turn it and twist it. If he just hinted that he wanted something or DESIRED SOMETHING, I TRIED MY BEST TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. He just hinted to my wife that that we needed a nursery in at the church. AND MAN, SHE STARTED A NURSERY. If there was just a hint because you know what? I I know I know authority. It It's not the man, it's the office. Hang on. And I'm I'm going to try to turn this positive in just a minute. If you'll help me, hang with me. Hang with me. We might not have much of an altar call. I'll probably use the whole nine all the way to 9:00 to finish this. But it's not the man is the office. And this world has lost this. This world hates it. This world does not want I'm telling you, humanity don't want to hear it. The pastor is not my buddy. Brother Copelan's not my pal. You You know what I do? I smile at him and I say hello to him. I I never let him I never let him know that I'm having a bad day when I see him. And I sure don't LET HIM HINT THAT I'VE GOT SOMETHING WRONG AGAINST HIM. MAN, I I I if if he's in THE SAME ROOM THAT I AM, I'm going to GO PLUM ACROSS THAT ROOM TO FIND HIM AND TELL HIM I LOVE HIM. I'm not going TO TRY TO HIDE FROM him and and and and him think that something's wrong or Preach, preacher. Help me, Lord. Hey, you can you can build a a church on believing in your pastor. You you will never be successful talking about him and and and and and get letting all your emotions get wrapped up in in what's going on. Man, I I'm going to I'm going to say yes, sir. I'm going to smile. I'm going to say, "Pastor, I trust you. If I don't trust him, I'm going to go find somebody I do trust. I need to find somebody that I can trust. >> If if you don't trust me, I want you to trust somebody because you're going to have to. He's the one that's going to give an account. He's he's going to be there and he's going to say, "Hey, they was Man, they was faithful. They they they was on my side." This is why so many TIMES THEY SAID, "WHO'S ON THE LORD'S SIDE? THERE THERE'S going to have to BE SOME PEOPLE TO HOLD UP MOSES'S HANDS. Brother R.J., >> THE BATTLE WASN'T WON UNLESS THERE WAS TWO MEN ON EACH SIDE HOLDING UP HIS HANDS. I apologize. Be careful trying to box him in. Be careful trying to box him up knowing he desires something, but you're you're you're giving it your goal to withhold it or delay it or be careful with withholding things. Let me tell you, uh tithing, uh you can't talk about spiritual authority without it. It it's not tithing is not time. Don't don't count your time as tithing. I don't care how much time you spend at the house of God. That's not tithing. Tithing is not time. Tithing is not turnup greens. Hallelujah. It can be if you got a turnup green patch and you want to bring some turnup greens, but that ain't Hey, tithing is green, but it ain't turnup greens. Hallelujah. It's this is it's tithing is the first 10%. The first fruits that we took up the the the deal that wasn't tithing.
You, you, you know, you know how? Why I can say that? Because I tithe too. I do. I do.
Let's look at what it said in the New Testament. Let's look at what Hebrews chapter 7, verse number five through nine. I, I didn't give you this again. I'm sorry. Hebrews 7, verse number five. Here's what the New Testament says about it. They'll get there.
"Verily, they that are of the sons of Levi receive the office of the priesthood have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham. Verse number six. But whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham and blessed him that had the promises. And without all contradiction, the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithes, but there he receiveth them of whom it is witness that he liveth. Verse number nine, last one. And as I may say so, Levi also who received tithes paid tithe."
New Testament talks about this. That's why I can talk about it because I do it. I can preach about this because I do it. I sold my house and my land and I came here to pastor this church. And as a matter of fact, I don't know if many of you know this. I don't even think my, my, uh, family knows this. My, my extended family, my mother and mother-in-law and them. I, a matter of fact, I sold the house a year before I got here because I knew what God was doing. I knew what God was doing. I was getting ready.
The Levites, let me tell you something, a little study. The Levites, they didn't get land when they handed out land. They, they didn't get an inheritance of land. And when the 12 tribes was getting the inheritance, the Levites got the tithe. Anybody ever read that prophets?
So, back to, back to our, I'm, I'm going to get close to headed the right direction now. I wish Moses said, "I wished you were all prophets." Prophets were a strange group in the Bible. I think I threw out two pages when I threw out that. Y'all might be glad. We'll just take it as an act of God. Prophets were a strange group in the Bible. Moses said, "I wished all of you were prophets." Some were blunt. Some used poetry. They varied greatly. There wasn't a cookie-cutter ideology of the prophet. You, you couldn't just say, "Hey, this is what a prophet was." A prophet was an extension of, of many things. But what you could say is it was someone that could hear from God, a prophet. He said, "I wished all of you were prophets. I wished all of you could hear from God. I, I wished all of you could, could see what was coming."
Being a prophet didn't make them perfect. They were all human. Prophets simply had insight. This is the most important thing I can say tonight. You got to hear this. Prophecy is not just a person with an ability to hear from God and then repeat what God says. Let me say it again. Prophecy is not just a person with an ability to hear from God and then say what God says. There's so much more to a prophet than just being a parent that repeats. Anybody ever seen a parrot that just repeats what you probably want a cracker? "Polly want a cracker." It, it's more than just repeating. When we think of prophecy, we think of someone that can walk in and, and God tells them something that they, that they repeat. That's what we think of. The truth of the matter is that it's not how prophecy, that's not how prophecy works.
All prophecy has a little bit of the nature of the prophet in me. Hang on. I'm going to get through these and, and we're going to get closed here. Prophecy works a whole lot like bees produce honey. There's, there's not just a little, there's not a drop of honey in every flower. I challenge you to find any honey at all in any flower. The bee goes from flower to flower gathering pollen and somehow takes what he gets from the flower and mixes it with a part of himself. A part of himself, the bee, the pollen, the bee, and, and, and all of that and produces honey. And a prophet works the same way. He gathers up things from God and mixes in them together, puts it all together in a pot, mixes it up. He, he hears from heaven. He, he, he, he studies it out. He puts it together, mixes it up, and he gets the spirit of the prophet, and out comes something edible for the people. Out comes something edible for the people. The honey, the, the food, the sweet. He said, "That's what my word is like. It's like honey to the lips."
Some, some, some does it with tongues and interpretation. Sometimes God speaks directly to the spirit of the prophet and the prophet turns around and says exactly what God says, but not always. Sometimes it's the voice of God. Sometimes it's just the word of knowledge. Sometimes he just feels it. Sometimes he just gets a feeling that he can't explain. Sometimes Moses said, "I wished all of you could get that feeling. I wished all of you could feel that. I wish all of you could get a hold of what God's saying. I wish all of you would hear the voice of God, get your head in that book, and read and pray. I wish all of you would do that." Moses said, "I wish all of you were prophets."
Sometimes he just feels it. Sometimes the prophecy is just simply knowing. Sometimes the prophet just knows what the book says. He just knows what the word says. Sometimes he, you can come to him and he can just tell you something because he knows what's in the book. Man, I've had people ask me things and, and I, I, I don't know what kind of answer you're wanting for, but all I can say is what's in that book. I cannot say anything different. Sometimes it's just what's in that book. Sometimes simply knowing the word of God. It doesn't take a prophet to know when someone disobeys the word of God what the outcome's going to be. It don't take a prophet, brother Thomas, to know that. All it takes is just knowing the word of God. Don't lie. Don't cheat. Don't steal. Don't backbite. Don't gossip. Don't commit adultery. Don't, don't, don't, don't. Because if you do, this will happen. Simple. Doesn't take a prophet. It just takes someone that knows the word of God. If the word of God says something and something is disobeying the word of God, it doesn't take a prophet to say calamity is coming. Sometimes the word of prophecy comes from knowing the wages of sin. Sometimes it's just knowing the ways of God.
I wish you all were prophets, Moses said. I wish you all could hear the voice of God. I wish you all would would get in the word of God and, and read it for yourself. I wished all were prophets. Doesn't take a prophet to see someone that's not faithful, that's not faithful. It don't take a prophet to see someone that won't come to church. It don't take a prophet to see someone that won't give. It don't take a prophet. We just know that that word says do it. And that's what we do. And, and when, and when we, and when the day approaches, we, we do it more. You just have to, you just have to be in church a while sometimes. Get caught up. It don't take a prophet to see somebody getting caught up with this world and with Hollywood. I'm going to be done by 9:00. It don't take a prophet to see if you get caught up in this world and Hollywood, it, it ain't going to work out good. It ain't going to work out good. Everyone that leaves the church within 10 years, I've seen it. I've seen it. Everyone that leaves the church within about 10 years say it's the biggest mistake they ever made. They can't come back though. They're chained. You say, "Well, why don't they just come back if they realize?" Sometimes it don't take a prophet.
Many, many times the spirit of a prophet is simply gathering a little from God, gathering a little bit from his word, gathering a little bit from his ways, gathering a little bit from the wages of sin. All of these ingredients, they get put together and out comes a word from God. Out comes a word from God. Next thing you know, the prophet, the prophet has a dead own prophecy for anybody who will listen. Anybody.
So, a prophet in the Bible was human. He was a man of great insight. What does this mean? It means the prophet was consistently, listen to me, he was consistently seeing what was coming. He was, he was come. He was the watchman on the wall. He was looking. He was saying, "Hey, I don't think that you're headed the right way. I don't think that that's the right direction to go. I, I don't think that that's going to be good. I don't think there's going to be a good outcome from that." He was seeing. He was looking. He was, he was paying attention. He, he, he had his spiritual glasses on. The Bible, in the Bible days, they referred to him as a seer. As a seer. Here comes that guy that, that however we are seeing it, he's going to see it differently. They, they hated to see him coming many times because they was looking at things one way and they knew he was going to look at it in a spiritual sense. He, he's going to, he's going to see danger coming. We all need seers. Moses said, "I wished you all were prophets. I wished you all could see you can. I, I wish you would. I wish you could all see the danger." They say, "We were just trying to enjoy life." And here comes that seer. Let me tell you, he's going to talk about, he's going to talk about what the effect this is going to have on your kids. He can see the next generation. He knows what's going to take place here. If somebody don't stop the marriage problems, there's going to be marriage problems in your kids. If somebody don't stop the addiction and the spiritual misuse, misuse, and, and, and all the things that's happened to you, if somebody don't put an end to it, your kids are going to get a hold of it. Let me tell you, when, when, when something starts creeping in the youth group, a prophet can see and he, he knows he's got to look out for for others. He, he, he sees what's going on. They called him a seer. Here comes that seer.
If you just keep, if you just keep trying to go around the prophet, God's going to eventually let you. Back to our text. He gave them what they wanted. He gave them the flesh. He gave it to them. They kept trying to go around Moses. They kept complaining. They kept murmuring. And he finally said, "Here you go. You can have it." But they got buried with their lust. You say, "What's the difference between?"
Let's look at, go to Ephesians chapter 4. I think this is my last, my last scripture. Ephesians chapter 4, verse number 11. I, I know we're not running the aisles. I know many of you are catching up on your, on your evening nap. I understand all that. Thank you for being here. Anyways, Moses chapter 4 and verse number 11. "And he gave some apostles and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and some teachers." And here's what he done it for. "He done it for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."
Let me tell you something. A pastor many times operates in just about every one of these roles. One hour he's teaching, one hour he's preaching, many times he'll get asked to go evangelize somewhere in another church. He, many times he steps into the office. It, it just comes with the territory. He, he becomes a prophet almost naturally, a seer as a pastor. And, and, and it's more to it than what we think it is. But let me tell you something. Moses said, "I wished all of you could see. I wished all of you could feel." Moses said, "I'm tired of being the only one that's got their spiritual glasses on. Everyone is drowning by their lust. And I keep trying to tell them to be faithful. Be thankful for what they've got."
Lift your hands just a moment. I'm, I got five minutes. Reach out just a moment. Huh? Talk to him just a moment. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. I know this is different. I'm fussing. I'm about to. We're going to move on. Just give me just five more minutes. Let me tell you what'll happen though. If you'll, if you'll get behind your man of God and you'll protect him and you'll hold up his hands and you'll, and you'll, you'll be on his side. And, and, and, and he won't, he won't ever have to say, "I wonder, I wonder what I said to them. I wonder what what's wrong. Wonder what happened." Let me tell you, it's just amazing. I, I've seen, I've seen people that, that you can, you can look at their face and they, they going to make sure that you know that they're not happy with the decision you made. Let me tell you something that's dangerous. You, you, you're, you're not doing it with your voice, but you're doing it with your face. I, I can read. I mean, it, you can, anybody can read. You can take a child and they can, they can, they can tell what you're saying with your face. You don't even have to say, "I'm against you, pastor." Hey, I can, he can, he can pick up. A kid can pick up on it. I'm telling you, I made sure that there was never a day my pastor never knew if I, if I had any kind of any kind of something. I always, man, hey pastor, how you do? You need anything? What you, you know, it's not about, it's not about being a, a demigod or something. It's not about getting served. It's just about about submission. And I, if, if we, if we don't get a hold of it, thank God that I got a hold of it. Thank God that I, it's the best thing that ever happened to me. I went through years of my life that I didn't understand it and didn't do it. Didn't pay attention to it. But let me tell you, it's the greatest thing I ever done. When I gave my kids a pastor, when I gave them a man of God that I trusted and I said, "Hey, if he says it, we're going to do it. Hey, we're behind him. Somebody tries to say something bad about him." I, let me tell y'all something. And I didn't even, I was talking to another preacher and, uh, it, it convicted me, but I said something and I didn't, I didn't mean it this way. This ain't way it come out. But he, he thought that I, he thought that something I said questioned our pastor and man, he shut it off so quick and I said, "No, no, no. I, I wasn't saying that."
