While watching this video, you will learn the Trio's for calibration principles and the process, as well as smart tips management. Trio's for is equipped with smart scanning tips with an intelligent use counter for an optimal scanning experience.
All new tips delivered with your Trio's Four are already calibrated, so you can start scanning right after sterilization. However, all new tips bought as spares need to be calibrated before first use to assure the best scanning results. Skipping calibration, although possible, might impact the color accuracy of the scan.
After calibration, each tip can be used for scanning up to 20 times before the next calibration. The number of scans taken with the tip is registered in settings, and when more than 20 scans have been taken, a pop-up will inform you about the need for calibration. Shade measurement with a given tip will be disabled if the tip has been used more than 30 times.
The scanner should also be calibrated after it has been moved, shaken, or sustained a wide range of temperature changes. If the mirror looks dirty or hazy, it's a good idea to clean it properly and calibrate it.
All information regarding scanner calibration and tip management can be found by going to More Settings, Trio's Scanner Management. When the scanner is connected, it is here where you can find the calibration section, as well as tip info. Tip info is only displayed when the tip is on. It includes the individual number of the tip and the amount of taken scans. The displayed data changes with each change of the tip, and if 20 or more scans have been done, a pop out will appear. The individual number of the tip can also be found inside the tip.
There are three ways of initiating calibration: you can do this from the calibration pop out, from the settings page, or the tools tab on the scan page. Regardless of choice, click on the "Calibrate Scanner" button and follow the instructions in the pop-out.
Make sure that the front glass of the scanner, as well as the tip mirror, are clean, sterile, and free of dust or scratches. Mount the calibration adapter onto the scanner tip. Now, remove the sleeve from the calibration target. Insert the target with the A side facing up into the adapter and click "Calibrate." It will only take up to 10 to 15 seconds.
When finished, detach the target, turn it over to face the B side upwards. Upon doing so, reattach it to the calibration adapter and press "Next." Wait around 30 to 50 seconds for the calibration and validation to be done. Once the calibration process is completed, click "Next."
Remove the calibration target and adapter from the scanner tip and put the target back into its sleeve. It is important to put the target back into the black box to protect the color target from light. Now, click "Close."
After the calibration, the use counter will start adding the next uses to the existing amount, so you will always know the total amount of usage. Now you know how to prepare and perform 3D and color calibration of the Trio or scanner. You can also find this information in the relevant section of the user manual. Thank you for watching.
