Maynard's Honest Opinion on Being Reborn

Steve-O's Wild Ride! - Clips9:29

Transcription

Yeah, I was telling you uh earlier that um I'm super fixated on this idea of life review and and uh near-death experiences and the spiritual afterlife. Um, is it very safe to to assume just based on your lyrics that you believe in uh consciousness existing separate from the brain, reincarnation?

I think I have a much probably a darker view on it a little bit. I mean, I think it's >> I think it's when it's done, it's done. But I think that the responsibility that you have to accept is that you're setting it up for the next version of you. So your DNA going forward, your neighbors, your friends going forward, you're there's a there's a there's a communal responsibility.

Now, when you're talking about the consciousness being separated from this thing, I I think there's evidence of that. I absolutely think there's evidence of that. I just don't know that um it's as simple as ghosts and you know like your your consciousness living on. I think it just kind of returns to the to the whole and I but I'm open to hey we we can talk about it for [ __ ] hours on mushrooms if you want but [laughter] >> but you know I mean I just don't know I don't think that there's any we're literally you're you're literally talking about faith in an idea.

>> Right. Right. Right. Well, I I understand the definition of the word faith is belief in something that cannot be proven, >> right? So, you >> if you're living your life like, okay, so here's a here's a scenario. Um, you believe this person believes in life after death. You're going to be reincarnated in some way. Um, so there's one person that's going to go, "Well, if I'm coming back, [ __ ] it. Let's go for it." Right? Then there's going to be another person going, "Well, I don't want to I want a better life next time, so I'm going to like completely not do anything this life because I'm afraid I won't get a I I won't get a better life when I come back."

Now, there's the people that believe there is nothing after death. Same scenario. You got one person going, "Well, if there's nothing after this, [ __ ] it. Let's go for it." Right? >> Or there's the person who's going, "Well, >> if you know, if there's no life after this, I'm going to covet and suffocate this one that I have in because I don't want to die." Right? So, >> right. >> It's not ne it's not really like the people who believe in afterlife or don't. It's more like how what do you choose to do with that belief? Right.

I feel like I'm kind of treading the middle. I I'm kind of prepping to be safe and, you know, >> right, >> but also going for it. >> Good. I think that it would be pretty unfair if this was it and there's nothing next because what of the children who die prematurely and didn't get the the the chance? Like there's so many different situations where you think, "Oh, wow." Like it just wouldn't be fair if this was a oneshot deal and there's nothing after but dirt.

Um I think the idea that uh that that you can come back to evolve more to you know to accomplish things you know face different challenges. Um, that to me makes more sense and that's >> it does. But I think also, but to add a detail to that, if we're if we're setting up a video game here, >> Yeah. >> is that you don't you're not allowed to remember. >> Yep. That's part of the deal. >> So, that's the only thing is there might be something in you that leans towards a thing you set up in a p previous life, but you're not allowed to remember. You literally have to start over, >> right? Because if you could remember, then >> it'd be [ __ ] easy. Then you [ __ ] cheat code. Yeah, it's totally cheating. >> Yeah, you would have a cheat code and and you're um you know that it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment to to be good for the sake of being good.

>> Right. Right. >> Right. >> Yeah. And that's I feel like that's that's part of it is why are you being good? Are you being good because there are consequences for being bad? >> Right. >> Then there's people just like they they're just good because somebody told them they have to be good. >> That's boring. like >> right >> do be be good because a you don't want to [ __ ] be a dick >> but also because there's consequences for being a dick >> right yeah I I I question that about myself a lot >> but just following rules to follow rules are kind of >> right >> that's gets you gets you where we are right now

>> I I I'm I find it interesting that um that you seem to question whether your consciousness as you know it in this body continues at the end of the body. You seem to question that, but at the same time, you describe the creative process not as building something, but tuning into something, >> right? >> So, the idea that there's a signal there. >> Yes. >> That we're I agree with the >> that we're receiving. >> We are all light and everything is light, >> right? So the those two kind of perspectives seem at odds with each other >> a little bit. But yeah. Yeah. Probably I I am absolutely a walk-in contradiction. [laughter] And the word dick is in there somewhere. Uh yeah. I mean it's it's there.

But I think if you if you consider uh this is we're all everything is light, right? Uh and >> light energy consciousness. >> Yeah. So yeah. Yeah. the the word for uh what we call it God now, but like the actual like the Hebrew word was uh or Aramaic words like like uh Yahweh, Yhovah, allelujah. That's all it's all the same word and it means light, but it's also the same word for love. >> Okay? >> It's an infinite without judgment unconditional light. And we are all that. And there's there's vibrations of it that separate some of the light from the other pieces of light. If you can tap into that thing, you're actually tapping into all of the light because it's it's infinite. >> Yeah. >> And it's everything and it's all it's all love and light. So I think you have to figure out how to like open up your brain enough to tap into it and then the floodgates can kind of open for just that creative because that is that's what it is. It is creation. It is creative.

>> I think um I I just think that there's lots of stages somehow, >> you know, and um >> explain >> um that I I'm into this uh this this new, it's not new, it was written in 1857. It's called The Spirits Book. And uh this French guy in 1857 had uh he worked with a bunch of mediums to uh sort of take dictation from spirits. And there seems to be a lot of uh like you know demonstrably true things that are articulated in this book. Okay. And um it it describes uh you know life in the body as a way for a soul to evolve that that we forget. And you know we're in this life presented with opportunities to to do good or or not do good. And the the the purpose of it all is for the the spirit to become more pure and and uh sort of work its way back to union with God. And the the whole purpose is for for having experience because >> it's it's all about the experience. Yeah.

>> The idea I've you know I've heard it's described similarly where you've actually slowed your vibration down uh to experience the mud. >> Yeah. >> You're here to you're here to like take in the mud. That's why I was kind of I always got wound up about like going to Sedona and all these people trying to ascend or just mag dude you just [ __ ] got here like why are you trying to get back there like wallow >> be here feel the pain >> the hurt the the joy all those things that's why you're here to gather that gather those experience for the collective right you're trying to get out you're like I'm going to ascend dick [laughter] [clears throat] the [ __ ] cruise ship just left the [ __ ] harbor. You're trying to get back to [ __ ] mainland. No, no, no. Enjoy the [ __ ] cruise ship. Get herpes. Come on, do [laughter] it.
