How much did YouTube pay me for 10,000 subscribers in 2025? So, that's what I'm going to share with you in this video. And get ready. It's a lot of money. Yeah, that's not.
So, I started my channel about 2 years ago. And yeah, it took me 2 years more or less to get to 10,000 subscribers. So, it wasn't easy and it wasn't quick, that's for sure. And as you can see here, I've now got 11,775 subscribers.
Now, I love how other people do these videos and they talk and talk and talk and at the end do they actually show how much they earned. Well, no. I'm going to do it differently. This is how much I earned. $2,625 in total since I began my YouTube channel. So, I mean, if you calculate that per month, that's $108 per month since I began YouTube. I mean, that is pretty shocking.
But being serious here, there are a number of reasons why it's pretty low. So, I mean, first of all, I didn't get monetized straight away. It took me about 6 months to get monetized. So, for those of you who don't know, you need to get a thousand subscribers and 4,000 viewing hours before you can apply to start earning money on YouTube. Um, so for me that took about 6 months and then I slowly started earning a bit of money. By the beginning, it was tiny amounts. I was getting about a dollar a day, so about $30 a month. So really, the majority of the $2,600 I've earned, I've earned kind of in the last six months.
So if you look at this graph down here, you can see how much I earned per month. So in November last year, I earned $26 and then $343 in December. So it's really these months here and a few months earlier where I earned most of the money, but still $300 a month isn't life-changing money. I mean, yeah, it's definitely better than earning $30 a month like I was at the beginning, but on the other hand, it would be great to earn more than that. And there are some YouTubers who are earning a lot more than me, and there are a number of reasons for that. So, let's look into that.
And one of the reasons why I'm earning $200 a month is the fact that the number of views I'm getting aren't that high. So, in total, my channel's had 1.1 million views over its lifetime. And then if we select last 90 days, my channel's received 323,000 views. And if you look at a graph below, that shows views per day. So you can see I've got some spikes here. There's one spike here, which is 9,900 views for one day. And then there's an even bigger spike here, which is 18,000 views on one particular day. And these spikes correspond to when I publish a video. I kind of publish a video, I get a spike in views, but then the views decline.
So yeah, this graph here kind of explains one reason why my YouTube earnings are pretty low because you can see that some of the spikes when I launch a video pretty low. So these videos didn't do very well. And that's because I'm still learning which videos my audience likes and and doesn't like. So obviously the ideal thing would be to have a big spike every time I launch a video. Um which I'm managing to do sometimes but other times I can't. And then the other thing is that uh sometimes I take big breaks between producing videos. You can see here here's quite a big gap here and also a big gap here as well where I didn't produce any videos. So again if I were to produce more videos more frequently then again that would increase my views and increase my earnings.
And finally it'd be better not to have these spikes every time I publish a video. It'd be better to have something like this where you kind of have a more gradual decline. So I guess even more gradual than this. So you get lots of views over many days and not just like one or two days.
So if you just look at the two videos that were most popular here, uh there's one here which was 21 reasons Brazil is better than the US and Europe. A lot of viewers gave me a lot of abuse for this one telling me I was crazy saying Brazil is better than the US and Europe. But hey, I still stand by my reasoning um even though you guys are telling me I'm crazy. And you've got this big spike here. And that was this video here. And this was just me going to a Brazilian supermarket and me filming uh the products there. And I thought this would be popular with my viewers from outside of Brazil who were interested to see how a Brazilian supermarket is. But it seems like the majority people watching this were Brazilians. So yeah. So it seems like there's lots of Brazilians who like to see uh a Swedish guy going to a Brazilian supermarket. Okay.
So another reason why my YouTube earnings are relatively low is the amount that YouTube pays me per view. And this is called RPM, which means revenue per thousand views. And so YouTube pays a different RPM depending on a number of things. And the two main factors that affect the RPM is what the subject matter of the video is and where your viewers are from. So which countries your viewers are from.
So I'm going to explain more, but first of all, let's just have a look at my RPM. So if we click on revenue here, we go down here. So you can see my RPM is $2.68. So for every thousand views, I get on average $2.68, which doesn't sound much. And yeah, compared to some other YouTubers, it is pretty low. So I mean, there are some YouTubers who getting like $20 $30 per thousand views. So that's like 10 times more than I am.
So if we just look at a couple of examples, so there's one YouTuber, he's pretty big. He's called Mark Tilbury and he's got 5.4 million subscribers. And he showed in one of his videos that his RPM is about $31 per thousand views. And that's because he talks about finance, investing, and and earning money. And also a lot of his viewers are from Europe and the states. And so that makes his channel very attractive to advertisers because for the advertisers, viewers who are interested in finance and investing and they live in Europe or the states, they have a high disposable income. And so advertisers are willing to pay quite a lot to advertise on his channel.
And then you've got this other YouTuber called Behaza. So he's got 1.4 million subscribers. Again, he talks about how to make money online and a bit about investing. And he showed that his RPM is $27 per thousand views. So, he's also got a very high RPM. And again, it's because his channel is about investing, making money, and again, a lot of viewers are from the States and Europe.
But it isn't just these really big YouTubers talking about investing and finance that earn lots of money. But you've got other channels like this, which is Modern Millie. So, she's got 590,000 subscribers. So, a bit smaller, still pretty big. Um, but not as big as the other ones I showed you. Uh, and she talks about how to make money with social media. So, she showed she earns $31 per thousand views. So, when I saw these RPMs for these big YouTubers, I start getting a bit depressed going, why am I earning, you know, $2.60 per thousand views when they're earning $30?
But these high RPMs isn't the case for most YouTubers. So, I found this website here and they show that the average for YouTubers is $3 per thousand views. So, I'm actually pretty close and just below the average. And this website is also pretty good because it shows you the RPMs for various types of videos. You can see here you've got some very low RPMs. So, if you just make these shorts, which are these videos, yeah, similar to Tik Tok, but they have to be less than a minute long, then you just get a few cents per thousand views. Um, and then if you make a channel about music, you get about 75 cents. If it's just general entertainment channel, then you get about a dollar. And at the bottom here, you can see the digital marketing and finance, which is around $20. Obviously, these are all averages and some earn more and some earn less. But yeah, it's a good indication of more or less what you you can earn.
So yeah, looking at my videos, if I to focus a bit more on on on the investing finance part, I mean I've done some videos on that. Um, but if I were to focus more on that, then my RPM would go up.
And then the other thing is where my viewers are from. So if we have a look at that. So if we click on audience and if we go down so you can see here that um over the last 90 days uh 56% of my viewers are from Brazil, 15 from the states, two three from the UK, three from Canada. And if we go back to that other website, so this shows how much a YouTube advertiser is willing to pay depending on where the viewer is from. So if you find a very low one here, so you got Angola here. So an advertiser on YouTube pays YouTube 15 cents per thousand views um from Angola. And then if we look at Australia, so here an advertiser pays YouTube $36 per thousand views from Australia. And if we go to Brazil, where I get a lot of my viewers from, uh advertisers pay $6 per thousand views. And then finally, let's have a look at the United States. So the United States is $32. So yeah, the the mix of viewers and from which countries they are again affect your earnings from YouTube.
And I find another thing that affects your RPM, although I haven't found any stats on this is how old your viewers are as well. So if your viewers are younger, then you get less money than if your viewers are older. And again, it's because the advertisers realize that the older viewers in general have more wealth than the younger viewers. You can see here for me, I've got most of my viewers in kind of 25 to 44 years old. So that's kind of most of my viewers. And I guess if I were to get more viewers in kind of the 45 to 64 years age bracket, then maybe I'd earn more. I don't know.
And then there are other reasons as well that affect my YouTube earnings. And one reason is the fact that I haven't switched on some other revenue channels that YouTube has. So if you click on earn here, you've got some other ways of earning money. So you can do memberships. So people can pay you each month to be a member of your channel and get some extra perks or something. And then you got supers as well. So people can pay extra to do super chats and get stickers and stuff. But yeah, I'm not doing that kind of stuff at the moment. Yeah, also you can do shopping as well. So you can kind of sell merch and stuff like that. But yeah, I haven't got any interest to start doing anything like that at the moment. That's for sure.
And then finally, another way you can increase earnings is adding more ads manually into your videos. So if you open up one video and click on editor, so down here it shows you the adverts in your video. So, YouTube automatically put in two adverts in my video. But what I can do is manually add in more adverts. So, I could put in, for example, one here and then one further down here. And that should theoretically increase the amount that I earn. But apparently, sometimes YouTube doesn't show adverts in all the ad breaks that you put in. And also, you you run the risk of just annoying your viewers with lots of ads. And yeah, I'm definitely not doing that because I'm not a big fan of ads. and I'm not going to put my viewers through watching loads and loads of ads just to get a bit more money.
Okay, so those are my YouTube earnings. I mean, they're not great at the moment, but they are going in the right direction. But I'm pretty chill with what I'm earning at the moment. I mean, obviously, if I were trying to make YouTube my main source of income, then that would be a big challenge. I mean, I'd have to put in a lot more effort. And I think even with a lot more effort, um, it's going to take a long time before you start earning, you know, some serious money.
So yeah, if there's anyone out there thinking of, you know, quitting your job to become a YouTuber, um I'd say, you know, keep your job, start doing YouTube on the side, and only when you've reached a certain size, which is definitely bigger than mine, um then, you know, think about quitting your job or anything like that.
