Top 50 Wide Receiver Rankings & Tiers - Week 9 Fantasy Football

Flock Fantasy25:37

Transcription

There are a ton of good wide receivers that you can start this week. Obviously, the S tier guys you can start every single week. Puka Nukua, Jamar Chase, Jackson Smith, and Jigba. Obviously, it was tough not having Puk over the past two weeks, but you have an implied team total of almost 29 points here for the Rams. They should score the ball easily. Jamar Chase over the past two weeks with Joe Flacco has actually seen 23 and 19 targets. Absurd. And then Jackson Smith and Jigba over his last three games that he has played he has scored 27, 30, and 26 fantasy points. So any three of these guys could finish as the wide receiver one rest of season, they're all incredible.

Going down to a tier, we are going to have CD Lamb playing against the Arizona Cardinals where the spread on this game's only two and a half points. You actually have this game with an overunder of about 54 and a half. So it should be an absolute shootout. And CD Lamb, I know since he's come back from his injury, he hasn't necessarily gone out there and exploded for 30 plus fantasy points, but that could 100% happen this week.

Looking at Amon-Ra St. Brown, he is averaging 21 points per game. He's just super steady. I mean, this is why we are targeting him aggressively at the end of round one, the beginning of round two in every Underdog draft that we did this year. I mean, back-to-back games with double-digit targets. The Lions have an implied team total of 28 and a half points here against the Vikings. The main issue that you may have is just the Vikings are going to have a tough time staying competitive knowing the spread in this game's eight and a half points.

And then Rasheed Rice is currently the wide receiver one in points per game. He has been incredible. He has scored three touchdowns in the past two weeks. If we go back and we look at him getting stopped about one inch short of the goal line this past week, we can realize that he has an even higher ceiling. And this matchup against the Buffalo Bills is one in which the overunder of this game is, I want to say, 52 and a half. So realistically, this game should have fireworks. And obviously, you want to start Rice if you got him.

Then moving over to our next name with Justin Jefferson. I don't even get me started about freaking Nathan's trade in the Flock League. Unbelievable. But Jefferson against the Detroit Lions, the expectations are going to be this is the worst quarterback play that Justin Jefferson's had in his entire NFL career. But even with Jefferson so far this season, only scoring one touchdown, he is still averaging 15 and a half points per game. So it does seem like this may be his floor.

Romeo Doubs is a wide receiver that I essentially traded Cam Scataboo for last week and I felt really good about it and I still do feel very good about it, of course, but he missed practice on Wednesday. So maybe this is a little bit of karma for me. Maybe we aren't going to get Rome. I really hope that he plays. Fingers crossed that we actually have him out there with the Thursday practice report as a full participant. He did score 18 and a half points this past week and this is a phenomenal matchup playing against one of the worst defenses in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals where the implied team total here for Caleb Williams in this offense is sitting at like 27 and a half points.

Now Zay Flowers is immediately a top 10 wide receiver now that you have Lamar Jackson back in. If you're going back and looking at the projections that we have seen every single week with Flowers on Underdog with no Lamar is like higher lower 49 and a half receiving yards, higher lower 9 and a half fantasy points. Well, that has gone up dramatically. Zay Flowers for Thursday night is currently higher lower 68 and a half receiving yards, higher lower 13 and a half fantasy points. This offense projects out to score 29 and a half points. I want to say this is the best projection we can see from any offense this week. So if you have Flowers, no hesitation. You put them in your starting lineup. And of course, if you want to go higher or lower on 13 and a half fantasy points for Zay Flowers, the link to Underdog Fantasy is always available to you in the description as well as the comment section. Underdog Fantasy is the number one sports app in the app store because one, they have the best promos in the industry. Two, they're available in almost every state. And three, they're an incredible app. Those promos if you sign up today are going to be a free Davante Adams pick, higher or lower, half a total yard for the Thursday night game and $100 added to your account after you play your first five with Code Flock. Plus, you'll get free questions that you can ask me in the live streams and I'm live streaming every single day until Christmas answering your fantasy football questions.

Then George Pickens will be our next wide receiver. Pickens is actually averaging significantly more points per game than any other player in this range. But with that in mind, we do need to at least point out that the targets per game for Pickens have come back down to earth since you've had CD Lamb reinserted back into this offense. But this game has the highest overunder of any game of the week. So realistically, you still want to start George Pickens because it can be a shootout.

Now, Davante Adams absolutely buried me in week seven with the three touchdowns with no Puka Nacua. But now, Puka Nacua is coming back in. Realistically, Adams really hasn't had like the big play upside this season. Like, he's averaging 1.89 yards per route run, which is actually much lower than any mark that we have seen from him since his early early days in Green Bay. But realistically, you still have the touchdown equity in this offense and the Rams do project to be one of the highest scoring offenses on the week.

Now, Ladd McConkey has cemented himself yet again as the true wide receiver one for the Los Angeles Chargers. Back-to-back games with double-digit targets and he has had an average of about 20 fantasy points per game over the past three weeks. There is still a lot of target competition in this offense though. Not only do you have Keenan and the Big Q that you have to compete with, but now on top of that, you are dealing with Gaudreau who's taking a considerable amount of volume from the receivers with Nico Collins. I understand that this is on paper a tough matchup against the Denver Broncos. But with Denver missing their best corner and one of the big reasons why they have one of the better defenses in the league, I'm going to be less concerned about Nico Collins now. And especially knowing that you actually do have the Houston Texans favored in this game over Denver. Now, I will say with that, the game has a very low overunder. The overunder is under 40 points, so it realistically could be one of the lowest scoring games of the week.

Then going to the top of C tier, Michael Pittman Jr. just continues to score touchdowns at a crazy clip. He has had six touchdowns off of 43 receptions so far this season. But you can say this is the best quarterback play he's probably ever had if we are going to be honest. I mean, right now Michael Pittman Jr. is the wide receiver 10 in points per game. So even if the touchdowns regress just slightly, he's still going to continue to crush. And what we have seen with this Pittsburgh Steelers defense over the past few weeks is they're one of the worst defenses in the league surprisingly.

Then the Chris Olave ranking is solely based off volume. He's currently averaging 10 and a half targets per game, 6 and a half receptions per game, which are both career highs. Now, at the same time, he is sitting with a career low 1.69 yards per route run and 6.1 yards per target. And currently, you do have the New Orleans Saints actually with the lowest implied team total of any team in the league this week with only 14.75 points. Like realistically, if we were looking at the Miami Dolphins, Miami is supposed to dramatically outscore the New Orleans Saints this next week. So realistically, I probably need to go ahead and I need to move Waddle up these rankings ahead of Chris Olave. I think I would rather start Waddle. Clearly Miami looked great this past week and so did Waddle, scoring about 21 fantasy points. And this matchup against the Baltimore Ravens does project out with an overunder over 50 points. So, you probably do have the Miami Dolphins throwing the ball a considerable amount on Thursday night.

Now, with DK Metcalf, of course, I'm rooting for him. I am rolling with him as my wide receiver three on my fantasy team behind Romeo Doubs and Nico Collins. Very similar to Michael Pittman Jr., the touchdowns are a little bit unsustainable at this point. I would say more so with Metcalf than they are with Pittman, where he's sitting with five touchdowns on only 43 targets so far this season. He's actually only averaging 6.1 targets per game, which is fewer than any mark that we have ever seen from Metcalf in his NFL career. But I mean, hell, he's just winning at the catch point and dominating inside the red zone.

Looking at Courtland Sutton, he has taken a few steps backward and at the same time, this is realistically probably going to be the toughest matchup you could possibly have from Sutton. You're going up against the Houston Texans. I am never going to be able to sit here and tell you, "Oh, I've studied the defensive assignments. I've been able to memorize every defender on the Houston Texans defense, and I know exactly how they're going to line up scheme-wise against the Denver Broncos." I'm sure smart people are capable of doing that type of analysis, but you've been watching this channel long enough to know that I'm not smart. But what I can do is I can look at what sports books are telling us and they're telling us that the Denver Broncos have an implied team total of 19 points, which is one of the lowest marks that we have seen from Denver all season, if not the lowest by far. And I can just be a little monkey putting two and two together and realize, oh damn, I guess we really got to be worried about this Houston Texans defense. And for that reason, we probably got to put Courtland Sutton lower in these rankings than usual.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is somebody that you don't have to worry about the defense with at all. Marv is not good. Let's get it straight here. I mean, I would much much prefer Courtland Sutton over Marvin Harrison Jr. rest of season. Marvin Harrison Jr. is averaging fewer than 11 points per game, which is by far and away fewer than any other wide receiver that we've talked about so far this year. But he has one thing going for him and that's he gets to play against the Dallas Cowboys this week who have one of the worst defenses in the entire league. So yeah, I am down to just go ahead and jam in Marv.

Then with T.J. Hockenson, I want to say like, oh, okay, well, we need to be realistic with the expectations as he only had two targets this past week. Yes, one of them was for a receiving touchdown, so he still gets there from a fantasy perspective. But I mean, the Cincinnati Bengals project out well here. This game has a very respectable like 51 and a half point overunder. So there are so many different game environments this week that we can pinpoint as okay, this is the one that we need to go after. This is the one that we need to target. And I think T.J. Hockenson against the Chicago Bears is probably one of those.

Now, Deebo Samuel against the Seattle Seahawks is a very difficult ranking at this point because what we do know is we know that you are not going to have Terry McLaurin. He has already been ruled out. I am recording this super late Wednesday night trying to get y'all the most up-to-date information that I can. And what we have seen with Jalen Daniels so far is that they are planning on Jalen Daniels practicing. Yes, not playing. They are planning on him practicing this week. Now, realistically, if Daniels were to play and you have no Terry, then at that point, we are going to be moving Deebo up dramatically in our rankings. But if it's yet another game in which you have Marcus Mariota, I I don't know how excited we can be. So, this will be one of those rankings that we just have to update later in the week with the flex rank. So, if you haven't already, please just make sure you are subscribed to the channel and I'll keep you up to date with all the injury stuff.

Then, going over and looking at Brian Thomas Jr. You're playing against the Raiders. You have decent projections here for the Jacksonville Jaguars offense as well. The big hold up that we're going to have is hell. Brian Thomas Jr. is averaging 11 points per game so far this season. He has just been no no bueno. He's coming off a shoulder injury and all of a sudden it does seem like Travis Hunter has a very real shot of actually just straight up turning into the wide receiver one in this offense.

And then Tedd Ginn Jr. Realistically, if you go over to Underdog Fantasy and look at the higher or lower for yards like Ted projects much better than a lot of these wide receivers volumewise. But my hold up with him is you're going up against the Green Bay Packers. You're in a garbage offense with garbage quarterback play. And right now, the only offense that projects to score fewer points than the Carolina Panthers right now is actually going to be the New Orleans Saints. And I don't think we've seen Ted Ginn Jr. have the same level target volume as what we've had with Chris Olave so far this season.

Then looking at Keenan Allen, I think at this point we just have to throw in the towel. Sadly, he is not behind Quentin Johnston. He is currently sitting here averaging 15 points per game, which is much better than a lot of these wide receivers that we have him ranked behind. So, if you wanted to go through and if you wanted to put Keenan higher in these ranks, I'm not going to fault you at all for it. My only hold up is going to be if you are looking at the emergence of Gaudreau, that is going to be a little bit of a problem here for the target share that all these wide receivers should expect to have.

Jalen Robinson will be our next name. You actually have decent projections here when it comes to the New York Giants with Jalen Dart. Typically, we have seen the Giants project out with Dart last week, for an example, to have like 18 points scored, but now we are actually seeing them project out to score 23 and be a respectable offense. And clearly, this isn't a team that has a ton of weapons that can look elsewhere than Jalen. So, I think this week is one that's completely fine to play Jalen Robinson against a very injured Niners defense.

Then, Stefon Diggs is a wide receiver that I traded away. So maybe I'm a little bit biased here with this ranking. But Diggs realistically has had one game this season with more than seven targets. Stefon Diggs back-to-back games is playing fewer than 60% of the snaps for the New England Patriots. So it is difficult for me to come out here and just say with confidence, oh okay, well we know for a fact that he is going to continue to expand his role as he gets further and further removed from the torn ACL because the fact of the matter is we have no idea if that's the case. We are speculating that was the case early in the season, but it is not trending that way as of now.

Then looking at Mr. Worthy. I drafted him in a lot of Underdog basketball drafts. My friend, for the love of God, please start doing something. Start doing anything. But it looks like Rasheed Rice is just dominating all the volume here. Now, of course, he's definitely a viable play because against the Buffalo Bills, especially with the thinned out running back core, you probably will see the Kansas City Chiefs go out there and opt to I mean, I don't want to say get into a shootout by choice, but they may not have a choice. It may just end up being a shootout.

Then going over and looking at Romeo Doubs, he's averaging 12 and a half points per game. You have Christian Watson back in this past week and you actually do see Romeo Doubs fall from 91% of the snaps against the Cardinals to 81% of the snaps against the Steelers. But still, you've had at least six targets in every game over the past four weeks. You project being one of the highest scoring offenses in the league against Carolina. But this is probably an offense that's just going to run the ball over and over and over again. They are currently favored here over the Carolina Panthers by almost two touchdowns.

Now, Khalil Shakir averaging only about 12.2 fantasy points per game, which is lower than majority of the wide receivers we've talked about so far. He only played 48% of the snaps against the Panthers this past week, but obviously that game was a blowout, so you can't just trust that snap rate in its entirety. And this matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs is one in which you could very easily see the Buffalo Bills falling behind and getting forced to throw the ball with aggression in the second half.

Jordan Addison, he's been really solid over the past four weeks where he is currently sitting here averaging about 16 points per game. But this week specifically, you have McCarthy coming back in. Realistically, with what we saw early in the season, it's hard to believe that McCarthy is going to be a good quarterback. You have sports books putting out an implied team total about 20 points here for the Vikings which does have them as one of the worst offenses in the week.

Then Travis Hunter is steaming up these rankings dramatically. We've had a bunch of positive coach speak obviously at the breakout before the bye. We have Brian Thomas dealing with the shoulder as well. This is a wide receiver that all of a sudden is playing way more wide receiver than he is on the defensive side of the ball. So, that's all super exciting while at the same time, this matchup against the Raiders is great. I do want to maybe be the wet blanket for just a tiny bit here, though. And at least address out loud that almost all of Travis Hunter's production in week seven when he walked away with 24 fantasy points was in straight up garbage time when the game was meaningless.

Then moving over to the Big Q, Quentin Johnston averaging more points per game than almost like the top 20 wide receivers ranked ahead of him. But it just looks like it's over. If we were looking at the past two weeks since returning from this injury, you've actually seen him average three targets a game and have one reception a game. He's had two receptions over the past two weeks. Gaudreau's come in and it looks like he's just straight up replaced Quentin Johnston in this offense. Now, I am very much going to hope that this trend reverses, but realistically, we just have to be honest with ourselves. Quentin Johnston at the moment's currently higher or lower 38 and a half receiving yards on Underdog Fantasy. So, it's not looking great.

Um, DJ Moore has been garbage this year, but with DJ Moore, it looks like one, this is the perfect matchup going up against the Cincinnati Bengals where you finally have very good projections for the Chicago Bears. And two, at the same time with DJ Moore, you have Luther Burden injured and not only is Luther Burden injured, but Romeo Doubs missed practice as well on Wednesday. Now, I desperately need Rome to play this week. So, I hope we don't have to do this, but I will update y'all with the flex rankings later in the week. If you were to have no Rome, say exactly how high DJ Moore slides up to.

Shaheed's been solid. Like, Shaheed had 12 targets this past week. I mean, is sitting here so far this season with 7.1 targets per game, more than pretty much any wide receiver in this tier. But realistically, the Saints don't only project to be the worst offense in the league this week, they project to be the worst offense in the league by a wide margin at the same time. So, it is tough to come through and be that excited.

And then with Jameson Williams, he's been an absolute bum. Straight up garbage. Worse than he was last year. Y'all know I wasn't a big J-Mo guy this year because we said the same thing that we always say. He's a better real-life wide receiver than he is a fantasy wide receiver. He's going to stretch NFL defenses. He's going to create space underneath for the guys like Amon-Ra St. Brown, for the guys like Sam LaPorta, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, while not taking a lot of target volume himself. But hell, I mean, the volume's fallen from 6.1 targets per game in 2024 to 4.3 targets per game in 2025. So, it's gotten even worse.

Now, the teardrop's pretty big from here. Keon Coleman's been an absolute turd for the past six games. Past six games he scored five and a half, five, seven and a half, 10 and a half, four, and six fantasy points. But we saw what Keon Coleman can look like in a game that turns into a shootout week one against the Baltimore Ravens. And there is that possibility this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. For reference, how we said Quentin Johnston was higher or lower 38 and a half receiving yards. Keon Coleman's higher or lower 40 and a half receiving yards on Underdog at the moment.

And then with Alec Pierce, he's been decent. This is more so the field-stretching name that you're going to be hoping that you get a big receiving touchdown. The receiving touchdown actually hasn't come so far this season. But still, over the past two weeks, he's had like 15 fantasy points, nine fantasy points. And this matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a great one. Again, going back to it, the Steelers are absolute garbage.

Looking at Trey Tucker. Trey Tucker. Again, we talked about this after the 41 point blowup in week three. You're never going to be excited to start this dude. You're never going to know when the blowup's coming, but because that's always in the range of outcomes, he is always a borderline playable option for you.

Looking at Josh Downs, averaging nine and a half fantasy points per game. He's been very, very bad this season. He's fallen from 7.6 targets a game in 2024 to only 5.3 targets per game this past season.

Kahan Booty going up against the Atlanta Falcons. Here you are looking at a wide receiver that's averaging 2.9 receptions per game or let's just call it he's had 23 receptions and five receiving touchdowns. Every single week we say, "Well, you know what? The receiving touchdowns are going to go away and you're going to be left holding a three-point performance, a four-point performance because he doesn't see volume and he keeps on scoring touchdowns."

Troy Franklin would be a lot higher in our rankings this week if it wasn't for the garbage matchup that you have for the against the Houston Texans. Again, if we go through and we look at the expectations for the Denver Broncos right now, the only offenses that they project to outscore at the moment are the New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers, and the Tennessee Titans. I apologize. They project to score more points than the Titans, but obviously Troy Franklin has looked great.

And then Jauan Jennings, you're hoping that he's even healthier this week. He does play 85% of the snaps. He's had back-to-back games with seven targets. And every week that goes by, you'd assume that he's a little healthier.

Matthew Golden projects to be one of the best offenses in the league this week, but at the same time, this dude sitting here so far this season, averaging 7.26 fantasy points per game, has yet to score a touchdown, and the volume's not there.

Diontae Johnson, I understand a lot of people are going to be very excited about because played 89% of the snaps this past week, which is a career high for him. He's had back-to-back games with 16 fantasy points but realistically this is a wide receiver that over the past two weeks has had 11 receptions in the Tennessee Titans offense. I'm not interested.

Um, these rankings probably are off because we are ranking Darnell Mooney as if Drake London's going to play yet we didn't put Drake London in the ranks. But realistically, let me just mention that if London were to miss, Darnell Mooney is going to be higher in these ranks despite only scoring 2.1 fantasy points this past week. Um, I got the word that it seems like you are going to have Drake London back at practice. Does that mean that London's going to play? Right now, we just simply don't know. But also, you really want Michael Penix Jr. under center here.

And then the last wide receivers that are worth mentioning, Kendrick Bourne, assuming Ricky Pearsall doesn't play, is still a viable name if you were desperate. Cooper Kupp, you could throw in there under the most desperate of circumstances. I guess you could start Christian Watson and hope that you get the big play. He played 57% of the snaps. And for how soon he's coming back from a torn ACL, that's honestly a big surprise for me.

Ellom Manor looks like he may be the wide receiver two right now in one of the league's worst offenses. Um, Calvin Austin did come back this past week with six targets, but right now he's averaging like four and a half targets per game. And then we have Rashod Bateman. I mean, he hasn't done anything at all this season, but at the same time, you haven't had Lamar Jackson this season. And so if Lamar does come back in, then all of a sudden you'll be a lot more excited. But I think that's all I got for you.

Again, I want to remind you if you wanted to go higher or lower on any of those projections, you can always find them on Underdog Fantasy. The links in the description, it's in the comment section. Code Flock will get you a $100 added to your account after you play your first five. Plus, on top of that, you'll be getting free questions that you can ask me in the live streams and a free Davante Adams pick, higher or lower, half a total yard for Thursday night's game. Links in the description, links in the comment section.
