[Music] He married, then after days he divorced her. Why is it none of your business? Her husband died, and she married after her waiting period, before a year passed. Why didn't she wait longer? It's none of your business. This doesn't mean she didn't have good feelings for her husband. What do you know of her situation? "From the excellence of a person's Islam is his leaving what does not concern him." Yes, if you see something wrong, condemn it. If you see ignorance, teach it. But to interfere and give your opinion on what you shouldn't interfere in, this is not required of you. "From the excellence of a person's Islam is his leaving what does not concern him." Thus said the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. Even your thoughts, whatever you think in your heart, if you don't speak them, even your thoughts are not yours to have bad assumptions about your Muslim brother. Even the thought. And don't say, "Well, what should I do? This is how I think. This is how I feel." If you feel this way, are you a prophet receiving revelation? Blame yourself. And the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "And if you suspect, do not verify." If this suspicion crosses your mind, do not be certain of it, and blame yourself. You do not know people's situations or the motives behind their actions. You must weigh matters by the scale of Sharia. Yes, if they do something wrong and fall into disobedience, you warn them, advise them, and guide them to do better. But it is not for you to suspect them. Do not interfere as long as the action does not contradict Sharia. Do not interfere. And look at the action of Saeed bin Al-Musayyib. He was one of the great Tabi'een, one of the seven jurists of Medina. He was married to the daughter of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him. His student, a student of Saeed bin Al-Musayyib, recounts what happened between them. He said, this student: "I used to sit with Saeed bin Al-Musayyib, learning from him. Then I was missed for some days. I was absent for some days, not attending. When I came to him, he said, 'Where were you?' I said, 'My wife died, and I was busy with her.' Saeed said to him, 'Why didn't you inform us so we could be with you and witness the funeral?' Then, after that, this student said, 'Then I wanted to leave.' Saeed asked him, 'Have you taken another wife? Have you married after your wife died?' The man said, 'May Allah have mercy on you. Who would marry me? I own nothing but two or three dirhams.' Saeed said, 'I will.' I said, 'Will you?' He said, 'Yes.' Then he praised Allah and sent blessings upon the Prophet, peace be upon him, and married me for two dirhams, or he said, three.' The man said, 'Then I said, I don't know what to do from joy. I went to my home and started thinking about whom to borrow from and whom to get a loan from. I prayed Maghrib and went to my home. I was alone, fasting. I brought my dinner to break my fast. It was bread and oil. Then someone knocked on the door. I said, 'Who is it?' He said, 'Saeed.' The man said, 'Then I thought of everyone named Saeed except Saeed bin Al-Musayyib. It didn't occur to me that it was Saeed bin Al-Musayyib.' He said, 'He did not see for 40 years except between his house and the mosque. From the house to the mosque, from the mosque to the house, for 40 years. So it didn't occur to him that the one at the door was Saeed bin Al-Musayyib.' He said, 'So I got up and went out, and it was Saeed bin Al-Musayyib. I thought he had changed his mind. I said, 'O Abu Muhammad, why didn't you send for me? I would have come to you.' He said, 'No, you are more deserving of being visited.' I said, 'What do you command?' Saeed said, 'You were single, so you got married. I disliked you spending the night alone. And this is your wife.' He brought his daughter to his wife, saying, 'The man said, then she was one of the most beautiful people, and she was one of the most knowledgeable of Allah's Book, and the most learned in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and the most aware of the rights of a husband.' This is the daughter of Saeed bin Al-Musayyib. Abdul Malik bin Marwan had previously proposed to her for his son Al-Walid bin Abdul Malik, but Saeed refused to marry her to him, despite their power and wealth. He was not pleased. So this daughter of Saeed was not an old maid that no one wanted, so that her husband would be free of her for his student. Rather, he chose to marry her to this student because he saw in that her well-being. Imagine with me, if something like this happened in our time, people might attack the man, 'How did he marry so soon after his wife's death?' And they would talk about Saeed bin Al-Musayyib, 'How did he marry his daughter for two or three dirhams?' And they would talk about the woman, 'How did she accept this?' 'Most of the sins of the son of Adam are from his tongue.' Indeed, hearing, sight, and heart – all of those will be accounted for. Your words, actions, beliefs, and assumptions must be mindful of Sharia. And beware of interfering and causing discord between spouses. The Prophet, peace be upon him, warned severely, saying, peace be upon him, "He is not among us who incites a wife against her husband." He corrupted. It became a proverb. He belittles the husband to his wife, saying, "He does this and that. If I were in your place, I wouldn't stay with him for a moment. If a hundred men divorced you, they would desire you." And remember, yes, people are not supposed to suspect you, nor are they supposed to backbite you. But may Allah have mercy on a person who averts backbiting from himself. Thus it is stated in the hadith: "May Allah have mercy on a person who averts backbiting from himself." Do not do things that cause you to be backbitten. Some things, even if permissible, one should avoid so that people do not speak about them. Yes, they are not supposed to backbite you, but you must protect yourself. And this is the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, the truthful, the trusted, the pure, the honest. One day he was with his wife, may Allah be pleased with her, Safiyyah. She said, "Then two men from the Ansar passed by. When they saw the Prophet, peace be upon him, they hurried. Then the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 'Slow down, it is Safiyyah.' They said, 'Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah, we do not suspect anything bad of you.' He said, peace be upon him, 'Indeed, Satan runs through the son of Adam like blood. And I feared that something bad might be cast into your hearts, or he said something.' So the Prophet, peace be upon him, with his infallibility, clarified to the companions that this one who is standing with me is Safiyyah, may Allah be pleased with her. It is good for one not to put himself in positions of suspicion. We ask Allah Almighty to keep us away from trials, both apparent and hidden, and to bring us out of this world in peace. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah bless our master Muhammad and his family and companions and grant them peace. Ramadan is the opportunity of a lifetime, a light in the expanse of time, and it flows like the gentle river. In it is the Night of Decree, a beacon in our evenings, and it erases our sorrows, and it flows in our pupils. And from it is the splendor of the dawn.
