I am absolutely sick to my stomach. Thoroughly and utterly nauseated and outright disgusted.
I have been watching the NBA for roughly 30 years now and counting. And I have seen an absolute crime perpetrated on this night, March 10th of 2026. Mark it down, etch it in stone. A crime has been committed. The NBA should be investigating. Betting entities should be investigating. There has been a crime committed by the Miami Heat and the Washington Wizards. And I think an official investigation does need to be launched.
More on that in a moment. But first and foremost, for the first time in roughly two decades, a player has eclipsed 80 points. Of course, Kobe Bean Bryant's legendary 81-point performance has stood the test of time for over 20 years now as the second highest scoring game in NBA history behind only Will Chamberlain's legendary 100. That is if Wilt actually dropped those 100 all the way back in 1962 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. There are Will Chamberlain truthers out there that are suggesting that that game never actually happened. It's like the moon landing. There's no actual footage of that 100-point game by Wilt. So, there has been some speculation that it might not have even occurred, but we know that Kobe Bryant hung 81 on the Toronto Raptors.
Now, look, records ultimately are meant to be broken. Yes, I am an outspoken advocate and proponent for Kobe Bryant and the defense of Kobe Bryant's legacy. So, I obviously don't love seeing Kobe Bryant's record 81 eclipsed, but I have no problem with it if it actually would occur within the context of an actual basketball game, you know, where there's actual competition on both sides by both teams. And it isn't obviously one of the legendary scorers in NBA history that has done it. It wasn't a Steph Curry. It wasn't a Kevin Durant. Hell, it wasn't even a LeBron James. It's not a Luca Donic. It is Bam at a bio of the Miami Heat, a 16-point career NBA scorer.
More on that in a moment. But he absolutely was the epitome of a free throw merchant tonight. and he was just shamelessly jacking shots the entire second half and in the fourth quarter of a totally non-competitive game which of course the Wizards were never really in. I can decisively say with sheer and utter confidence as a Kobe Bryant fan, but more to the point a historian that has followed and studied his life basically in real time that Kobe Bryant is looking down right now in sheer and utter disgust at this performance on this night. Kobe Bryant is rolling around in his grave. that bam out of bio three-throw merchant and shot chucked his way in a 25-point game against a 16-win team in the Washington Wizards to an 83-point performance. Totally and utterly classless, nauseating, and disgusting. It spits in the face of everything that Kobe Bryant stood for, everything that Kobe Bryant was about.
Just think back to that 81-point performance. It was about a month earlier where Kobe had 62 points in three quarters against the Dallas Mavericks. He was outscoring the Dallas Mavericks by himself through three and had 62. And he benched himself. Phil Jackson sent an assistant coach to see if Kobe wanted to go back in and try to assault the record books. And Kobe said, "No, we don't need it. Why would I go back in and try to score more points? The game's over. We've already won. I'll get it some other time when it actually matters, when we need the points." And of course, the Lakers coaching staff thought that was an outrageous take by Toby Bryant. But less than a month later, they were down by 14 points at halftime against the Toronto Raptors. And the Lakers were still only up eight at the end of the third quarter in that game against Toronto where Kobe Bryant dropped 81.
Tonight, the Heat were dominating the Hapless Wizards all game long. They were up 16 points at the end of the third quarter, but Bam just went in and stayed in and kept jacking. He stayed in through a timeout under 3 minutes with about 2 minutes and 56 seconds left. He stayed in with 77 points. With the Heat up by 25 points, he went back in after that timeout and continued shot chucking and jacking and missing every shot, by the way, that he was taking. But the Wizards kept fouling for some reason. Again, I am crying foul on this. We need to launch an immediate investigation into the free throw merchanting that went on tonight by Bam Adabio. And because the Washington Wizards were implicit in this rig job, the final line for Bam, who played in 42 minutes in a game where again the Heat were up by double digits, floating back and forth between 15 and 25-point leads for basically the entire game. He plays 42 minutes. He jacked 43 shots, made only 20 of them, by the way. Less than 50% shooting from the field tonight. 20 of 43. He shot seven of 22 from the three-point line. And are you ready for this? Are you sitting down? Take a deep breath. Get a sip of water or something. 36 of 43 from the free throw line. Do not adjust your listening devices. I said 43 free throw attempts for Bam at a bio tonight.
And in case you are curious, Will Chamberlain's career-high was 34. Shaquille O'Neal's career-high was 31. In fact, no one ever in NBA history has ever attempted more free throws than Bam Adabio did on this night. He shatters the NBA record actually by four free throws. The previous record was held by Dwight Howard. Dwight Howard did 39 attempts two different times. Andre Drummond had 36 attempts once and DeAndre Jordan had 34 attempts once. Those were the top four highest free throw shooting games in NBA history until tonight when Bam attempted 43. And what do all of those other guys have in common? Well, they're all dreadful free throw shooters. Career 50% something shooters from the free throw line. So those guys were fouled intentionally. They were fouled as a tactic because the opposing team was trying to foul them to get them to miss free throws. So, they were intentionally given that many free throws and BAM eclipsed all of them tonight. Bam, a 76% free throw shooter. So, you really have to ask yourself, how and why was Bam Adabio attempting 43 free throws tonight?
Well, it's because he was chasing this career points total. He had 31 points at the end of the third quarter. He had 43 points at halftime, which already eclipsed his previous career high. This guy's played nine years in the NBA, and he eclipsed his previous career-high by halftime with 43 points. And he just continued chucking the entire second half. And for whatever reason, the Washington Wizards continued to put him on the free throw line. He ends with 83 points ultimately and again needed 42 minutes to do it. He played until about a minute left in the fourth quarter and he shot, are you ready for this? 16 free throws in the fourth quarter. Again, we need to launch an immediate investigation into this. The competition committee needs to engage. This performance needs to be stricken from the record books. 16 free throw attempts for this guy in the fourth quarter of a game that was 25-point margin from about the midway point to the end. And Bam just continues to parade to the free throw line until a minute left in this game. 16 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to finally get to his 83rd point. It's a complete crap.
And yes, now it is Will Chamberlain's 100. Bam Adabio's 83 and then Kobe's 81. Bam Adabio, yes, 9-year NBA veteran, a 16-point career scoring average. He has only scored 20 points per game for an NBA season one time in nine years. His career-high for a single season back in 2023 was 20.4 points per game for that year. Right now, this season, he is averaging just 18.9 points per game. So, yes, I have long been of the opinion that Kobe Bryant's 81-point performance would never be eclipsed because in my estimation there would never be a perfect storm of events that that occurred for Kobe back then in today's NBA. Meaning that one player would need to do that that they would be pressed into that because they are surrounded by such a lousy lineup in the modern era of the NBA. so that it would be a perfect storm like with Kobe when talent met necessity and an all-time great scorer like Kobe had to score that amount of points in order to win a game or to be competitive in a game.
But see, the problem is I underestimated this current era of the NBA. How disgusting that it is and how pathetic that the players are and how they just point stack and point chase and in this meaningless, totally meaningless game that was completely wrapped up by midway through the third quarter that a guy would just stay in there shamelessly jacking shot after shot up until the last minute of the fourth quarter. and that the opponent that he was playing, the dreadful loser ass Washington Wizards, who are 16 and 48 on the year, would be implicit in this rig job and keep fouling him all fourth quarter in a game they were down by 25. And the Heat were doing it, too. The Heat were fouling to try to extend the game. And then after they got the ball back, the Wizards would just foul and send him to the line. This is absolutely disgusting. It is a disgrace. It is a sham. And Kobe Bryant is unequivocally been dishonored on this night. And the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver should do something to intervene and wipe this pathetic disgrace of a game and this pathetic disgrace of an 83-point performance by Bam Adabio out of the record books.
