It's a pretty safe bet to say you want more of the reality of God in your life. I mean, come on, who doesn't want more of God? But desiring and seeking are not the same thing. And confusing the two might be the reason your walk with God isn't where you would like it to be. Let me explain.
See, desire is a longing of the heart. It's a gift from God to desire something that God wants to give you. But many Christians never move past that place of desire. We want more of the reality of his kingdom in our life, but desire with no action is just curiosity. Scripture doesn't say desire and you shall find. It says seek and you shall find.
Consider David. He writes in Psalm 27, "One thing that I desire and that will I seek." He identified his desire and then he put feet to it. David ordered his life around what he desired the most.
[music] Passion determines routine and routine determines how much of God you actually encounter. Now, don't hear what I'm not saying. This isn't a salvation issue. This is a maturity issue. This is a becoming [music] more like Jesus because you're encountering more of Jesus issue.
You see, desire tells you what you want. Seeking reveals what you're willing to do to get it. So, seek God with everything you've got because he is a God who rewards those who diligently seek him.
