[Music] When 50 got shot, how did you find out?
The day 50 Cent was shot, I was walking through, and BMF was there too. Meech was there too. Um, we were walking through the Fiesta Marana, Kadessa, and Canon, Mexico. I had just introduced Meech to Chaz. I start walking through the hotel, and they had the pool right there. Look, like rocks, flowers, and everything around, just a little sharp pool. And his manager seen me, and he said, "Yo, Jean." I said, "What's up?" Now, his manager's in the pool with two girls. I say, I said, "Yo, what's up?" He said, "Uh, yo, I need to speak to Chaz and I need to speak to Supreme." I said, "What? You you ask me for what? You telling me that for?" He said, "Yo, man, 'cause 50 just got shot, you know, and he's in ICU." I said, "50? What? He just got what?" See, I had spoken to 50. 50 was supposed to be coming to Cancun because he was supposed to be doing a show for "In the Streets" at Daddyo's, "How to Rob a Industry," when he had that song out. So I said, "50, we're going to be good in Cancun because I got some Puerto Rican guys who work for The Syndicate down there. So when I come down, they always take care of me; they, they're my cab service, you understand? Whatever I need, they got it. I'll be the only one holding..." I say, "Yo, listen to me, they take care of me. 50, we good." He said, "All right." So he took half the money, but I don't think 50 was going to show up anyway, and I'm glad he didn't because the whole Murder Inc. and Rockefeller, everybody was down there, you understand? So now I said, "So what the you doing in the pool if he's shot?" So I just ran to the uh, cab and I took it to the uh, the mall, and I bought a card. It cost me $100, and you only get 10 minutes on that damn card if you're calling back to the States. And I used that whole $100 on calling 50's phone, calling 50's phone, calling 50's phone, calling 50's phone. And then one time his girl picked up. I said, "Yo, this is Jean. It's 50." She said, "Jean," I guess she was right there with him or something like that. He said, "Yeah, he's all right." So I guess she told him to talk to me. I said, "Just tell him if he needs anything, that uh, I'm um, I'll be back on such and such day." So then um, I told Chaz I spoke to 50. He said, "Uh, man, if I was you, I wouldn't I wouldn't go near that near that kid because of the uh, the police, the detectives, and all this other [ __ ] like that." I said, "Yeah, all right." So I called 50 again, and and he ain't pick up no more. So I was I was one of the dudes that called him when he got shot, and he picked up, or his girl picked up for me, and I guess uh, she told him to tell him, he told her, or nodded or something like that, to let him know that uh, he was good. So that's what happened.
Do you know who was behind the hit?
Do I know who was behind that hit? No, I don't know who was behind it, bro. I don't know who was behind it. I know that Irv Gotti and them had put it out there like they were a part of it, and they were going to do it that night, the day at the uh, meeting, from their conversations and how they were acting. I know they had something, they had to have something to do with it. And they come to find out that the dudes who did it were working for uh, Murder Inc. So I I can't even speak on that about uh, where their hate or where their respect or anything about them came at, but I know that when Irv Gotti and them did the sh that they did, everybody said that was Supreme doing it. And I don't think Supreme would have disrespected the respect that Chaz had for 50 and played a part in that. He knew that was some rapture, that wasn't no gangster sh, but everybody, it's it's a bigger story than it's some gangster sh; Supreme had it done, you understand? And I don't believe that 'cause Supreme wouldn't have put up no money to get nothing like that done.
How is that like in real time with 50, him getting shot? People think he's dead; he survived; he comes out within the club. It's a big hit; he's a big star. Like, how old is that like, yo? Well, before he made his first hit records and "How to Rob," "How to Rob Things," when I heard 50 in the studio at Black Hand, when or I knew 50 was going to be the next one. I told Chaz that. I could hear talent, bro. You know, I don't care what nobody says. I knew, I told Chaz that 50 was going to be the next one. He said, "But he's not doing what we need him to do for Black Hand." And then when that "In da Club" came out, when when that uh, banger came out, you could see that I had been around enough to see 50 make a Black Rob, um um, all the Bad Boy staff, Sherry Dennis, you you you could see talent, you understand? I'm in the music; I play three or four instruments. I've been in bands; I've been in I've been in HA Chorus choirs, all that sh, so I know music. When you hear stuff, you know when it's hot. I knew he was going to be the next one, bro. I said that to Chaz, so I wasn't surprised. I wasn't surprised at all. I knew it was going to be a problem. I know them [ __ ] had to be ass salty, bro, when that "In da Club" came out. Oh yeah, that "In da Club" came out, man. Yo, 50 uh, was writing for a long time. You got to realize, bro, he wrote for LL, you understand? He wrote for Lil Kim, you understand what I'm saying? 50 was writing for a long time, bro, so he knew how to write music.
