Praise be to Jesus Christ. Most Catholics who are even somewhat awake understand that the world is headed towards a time of judgment. There's countless prophets who have mentioned this who are approved by the church like St. Fina. She said the Lord said to her, "The time of mercy is about to come to an end, and next is coming a time of judgment."
And this is not the first time in the history of the church when there was a judgment announced, a call to repentance, or judgment would come. And we think, you know, in the Old Testament, uh, Jonah announcing God's judgment to Nineveh. The time in the church that is most known when God was calling his people to repentance because otherwise judgment was coming was at the time of St. Vincent Ferrer. In the late, no, the early 1400s. He went all around Europe announcing that judgment was coming if the people did not repent.
St. Vincent Ferrer is well known as being unparalleled in terms of having an evangelization ministry, being accompanied by so many healings and miracles and signs and wonders. There is no other saint like him in terms of having such a powerful ministry of evangelization accompanied by signs and wonders. But he called himself the angel of the judgment. It says here, "During the last 20 years of his life, he preached all over southern Europe that the last judgment was imminent if people did not repent and change their lives." He even maintained that he was the angel of the judgment mentioned in the in Revelation 14. And he worked an extraordinary miracle to prove it. He he raised a woman from the dead. People were saying, "Oh, you call yourself the angel of judgment. Prove it." He raised a woman from the dead, which the church accepted as verification of the truth of his claim. The church said, "Yeah, he seems to be an embodiment of the archetype of the angel of judgment that we find in the book of Revelation."
This is chapter 14, verses 6 and 7. "Then I saw another angel flying overhead with everlasting good news to announce to those who dwell on earth, to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. He said in a loud voice, 'Fear God and give him glory, for his time has come to sit in judgment. Worship him who made heaven and earth and sea and springs of water.'"
Now, very interesting. I've been wanting to read about and study St. Vincent Ferrer for for decades because my dad told me about him when I was a teenager. And finally, a few months ago, I got the book, started reading, and one of the first things I noticed is he began his ministry of power, evangelization, calling people to repentance, announcing the coming judgment, working signs and wonders. He began this ministry at the age of 50. And it was at the time I was turning 50. And I thought to myself, "Oh, maybe this is providential. Maybe my work isn't over. Maybe St. Vincent Ferrer is meant to be one of the new patrons in my life, especially for this season in my life."
Anyways, we'll see what happens. But I would love it if you would study with me the life of St. Vincent Ferrer. You know, I have a school of reading. I send books in the mail to my students, and I and we do a weekly teaching on the book we're studying. This is the next book we're sending out. We're going to start studying it in a few weeks. If you sign up for my school of reading, we'll send you this book. We also send every student Mother Eugenia's Revelations on the Love of God the Father. So, we'll send you these two books, and we'll study together the amazing life of St. Vincent Ferrer.
Also, if you know any young people who are starting to discover their Catholic faith, you might want to consider maybe you can do this as part of your Lenten giving. Um, enroll a young person who's starting to, you know, thirst for the things of God in my school of reading because I started my spiritual reading when I was a teenager. I've never stopped doing spiritual reading, and that was a big part of my conversion. So you might want, if you know a young person who might be open to being in the school or reading, you can you can kind of see that as part of your Lenten giving by helping a young person be uh formed in their faith through good spiritual reading.
If you'd like to join my school of reading, go to schoolofreading.com. I'd love to have you as a student. Viva Christo.
