Hello. My name is Mona and this is my honest confession. Honestly, this is probably one of the most raw and unfiltered videos I've ever sat down to film, but it's something I really need to get off my chest.
If you didn't know, I grew up in a Christian community and looking back now, it feels heavy, almost suffocating. My grandmother used to drag me to church no matter what. Even when I was sick or just didn't want to go, Sunday meant church. There was zero room for debates.
When you are a kid, you don't know any better. You are completely, deeply indoctrinated. They drill your heads from the very beginning, so you genuinely believe it's the absolute truth, simply because you never known anything else. I was so deep in it, so badly brainwashed that when I was a little girl, I actually wanted to become a nun. Yeah.
My childhood bedroom walls were covered in holy pictures and I wouldn't move an inch without my rosary clutched in my hand. I spent my time going on trips and Christian camps with monks and I also used to think in the church choir. I gave them my entire childhood. I thought I was doing something pure, but looking back, it just breaks my heart how easily a child's mind can be shaped into total submission by pure fear.
And it hit me everywhere, even to school. You could have either ethics or religious class. It sounds fair, right? A kid should be able to pick, but I didn't have that option. When I tried to switch to ethics, I was flat-out told no. I was forced to sit through religious classes, trapped in the classroom where they kept drilling the fear of hell and damnation onto me. They just didn't care about my autonomy, my doubts, or what I was going through, or what I believed. They just wanted to keep me inside that terrifying little box. Looking back, that wasn't an education. That was grooming, plain and simple.
And that was just the beginning of how I started to realize that everything I knew was built on a foundation of control. As I got older and the heavy fog of that childhood indoctrination started to lift just a little bit, I finally started actually reading the Bible for myself, not just the cherry-picked feel-good verses they spoon-fed us in Sunday school, but the actual unfiltered text. And that's when the illusion completely shattered, leaving this hollow aching feeling in my chest.
You know, you realize that the book presented as the ultimate source of the absolute love and morality is actually full of absolute madness when you actually look at the pages. Things stop making sense, and instead you find things that make you physically sick. Take slavery, for instance. We were always told it was a book of freedom and justice. But then you read Exodus 21:20 and 21, where it literally gives instructions on how you can beat your male or female slave with a rod, and as long as they don't die within a day or two, you aren't punished because, and I quote, "They are your property." Let that sink in. The creator of the universe allegedly laid down rules for how hard can you legally beat another human being.
Or look at Leviticus 25, which explicitly tells you that you can buy slaves from the surrounding nations and pass them down as an inheritance to your children forever. How are you supposed to read that and feel anything other than profound disgust and sorrow?
And then there is the way women are treated. Total erasure. You grow up singing in the choir, wanting to be a nun, thinking you have a sacred place, and then you read 1 Timothy 2:12, where it says, "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man. She must be quiet." Just like that. Your voice doesn't matter. Your mind doesn't matter. You are just a second-class citizen by divine decree.
It gets even worse when you look at how violence and rape are handled. Can I say this on YouTube? In Deuteronomy 22:28-29, if a man happens to find a virgin who is not pledged to be married and forces her, meaning rapes her, and they are caught, what's the punishment? He has to pay her father 50 shekels of silver, and she has to become his wife for the rest of her life, and he can never divorce her. Imagine being that girl, traumatized, violated, and then legally forced to marry your rapist for the rest of your existence, all backed by holy scripture.
Or look at Numbers 31, where armies are told to slaughter everyone but keep the young virgin girls alive for themselves. When you read all this, the cognitive dissonance is defeating. You spent your whole childhood crying into your rosary, terrified of burning hell, only to realize that the text itself is full of cruelty, misogyny, and barbarism that modern society would lock someone up for today. It just makes you feel so stupid for ever believing, and also heartbroken that millions of people still worship it blindly without ever opening that book and reading what it actually says.
And once you zoom out and you look past the local church or one specific book, you realize this isn't just a Christian problem. It's a global human catastrophe engineered by every single major organized religion on Earth. Look at Islam. Look at Christianity. Look at all of them. And you see the exact same blueprint of psychological enslavement, financial extortion, and institutionalized violence.
Take the Vatican, sitting on billions in gold, priceless stolen artifacts, and hidden real estate empires while preaching the sanctity of poverty to working-class people. But it's not just the Catholics. Look at the modern megachurches, the and televangelists flying fleets of private jets bought with grocery money from single mothers and elderly people who are terrorized into believing that God will triple their money if they hand over their last paycheck.
Look at the massive religious institutions and fundamentalist networks across the globe that operate completely tax-free, hoarding unimaginable wealth while entire populations suffer under systemic poverty. They don't pay taxes, they don't answer to secular laws, and they constantly lobby governments to control what people can do with their own bodies, dictating reproductive rights, suppressing LGBTQ lives, and enforcing archaic medieval laws on modern free societies.
And the history, the sheer, the unadulterated bloodbath of human history written by religion makes horror movies look like Disney cartoons. Millions upon millions slaughtered in brutal crusades, bloody religious civil wars like the 30 years war where entire populations of Europe were literally decimated, violent conquests, brutal inquisitions where people were flayed, crushed, and burned alive just for having a little critical thought or practicing science. They murdered Giordano Bruno, they silenced Galileo, they destroyed centuries of human knowledge and scientific progress because it threatened a fragile monopoly on absolute truth. They burned hundreds of thousands of women at the stake under the hysterical label of witchcraft, tortured them until their bones broke just because they were independent healers, midwives, or simply inconvenient to patriarchal control.
Even today, look at the systemic horrors justified by holy books every single day. Honor killings, female genital mutilation backed by religions, tradition, stoning people to death for apostasy or blasphemy, suicide bombings carried out by brainwashed zealots who are promised eternal paradise for murdering innocent strangers, and caste systems that condemn hundreds of millions of human beings to untouchability and lifelong misery and birth rights, all supposedly ordained by the gods. It's an endless global mafia operating under the disguise of divine authority. They sell you an invisible disease called sin just so they can sell you an invisible cure called salvation while keeping you too terrified to poor and too divided to ever question who is actually holding the leash.
And the most terrifying part is that billions of people defend this system with their lives, ready to tear apart anyone who exposes the illusion, proving that the religion was never about love or peace at all, but about total absolute control. And it leaves you sitting there in the dark staring at the ceiling completely shattered asking the most agonizing soul-crushing question of all. Why in this day and age with all our science, history, and knowledge at our fingertips, do people still fall for it? Why do millions of grown intelligent human beings willingly hand over their minds, their money, and their dignity to system that treats them like absolute cattle?
The terrifying truth is that people are terrified of the void. That is scary, sure. The universe is vast, random, and cold, and human beings are so deeply desperate for comfort that they will swallow any comforting lie rather than face the raw reality of existence. Religion exploits our deepest, most fragile vulnerabilities, our fear of morality, our grief over lost loved ones, our loneliness, and our search for meaning. They weaponize existential dread. They sell you a pre-packed cosmic safety blanket, but the catch is that you have to turn off your critical thinking, surrender your autonomy, and pretend that the glaring contradictions don't exist.
It's mass psychological self-defense, but at a catastrophic cost. People stay trapped because the indoctrination is so deep, so insidious that questioning it feels like tearing your own soul apart. You're threatened with eternal damnation or social exile by your own family and community if you even dare to look at the cracks in the wall. So, people choose the comfort of the lie. They let their brains get washed because thinking for yourself hurts too much. Because taking responsibility for your own morality without any invisible sky father watching your every move is too heavy burden to carry.
And that is why we have a world crippled by fanatical delusion. Grown adults foaming at the mouth, ready to kill or die over ancient fairy tales, voting away human rights, blocking medical progress, and hating anyone who doesn't bow to their specific imaginary king. It's basically a normalized cult on a global scale. A cult where everyone is inside a compound, so nobody realized they're in a cult.
And when you look around and realize how many billions of people are sleepwalking through life defending their own chains and passing them down to their innocent children like a hereditary disease, it just fills you with this profound crushing weight of utter despair. Because how do you cure a world that is so deeply in love with its own cage?
And when you really strip it all the way, people love to throw around the word cult like it's this really rare thing happening in some weird compound in the woods, completely ignoring the fact that mainstream religion is literally just a cult that made it. What is a cult, really? It's a group led by a strict hierarchy demanding absolute obedience, isolating you from outsiders, punishing doubt, taking your money, and threatening you with ruin if you ever try to leave. Sounds familiar?
The only actual difference between a dangerous fringe cult and a global religion is age, scale, and tax exemptions. If you have 10 followers and worship a leader who controls your life, you're a cult and the government investigates you. If you have 2 billion followers and worship an ancient text written by Bronze Age men, you're a world religion and politicians bow down to you.
It's the exact same psychological trap, the exact same isolation tactics, and the exact same emotional manipulation. Just heavily normalized by society because generations of people before us were too terrified to look at the truth. We have all just collectively agreed to pretend that a mass multi-generational delusion is a sacred pillar of civilization while anyone who points out that the emperor has no clothes is treated like the crazy one.
And psychologically speaking, when you look under the hood of how both of them operate, the line between a high-control cult and accepted world religion completely dissolves. Psychologists who study mind control and new influence and behavioral manipulation points out that the human brain doesn't actually know the difference between a small fringe group in the woods and a multi-billion dollar global institution. Both systems rely on the exact same psychological weapons, strict control over behavior, information, thoughts, and emotions.
They construct an artificial airtight ecosystem where doubt is never treated as a valid intellectual inquiry. It's treated as a moral failure, a spiritual sickness, or an attack by an external enemy. When you're trapped inside that environment, you experience relentless cognitive dissonance. Your brain is constantly screaming at you because reality doesn't match the dogma. You see the hypocrisy. You read the horrifying scriptures. You feel the suffocation, but the psychological cost of admitting you've been lied to is simply too devastating to bear. So, your mind uses defense mechanism like rationalization and compartmentalization just to survive.
Facing the truth means accepting that your entire life, your family, traditions, your deepest identity, and your comfort have all been built on a foundation of sand. That feels like psychological death. So, the brain chooses the cage. It also completely destroys your internal locus of control. Existence is inherently healthy, random, and terrifyingly vast, and human beings are evolutionarily wired to desperately crave safety and certainty. Religions and cults exploit this fundamental vulnerability by taking away your personal responsibility and replacing it with an external locus of control. You no longer have to carry the crushing weight of your own moral choices, your failures, or your own mortality because an invisible entity or a holy hierarchy is making all the decisions for you. You trade away your sacred autonomy in exchange for the cheap, addictive high of absolute certainty.
And then evolutionary biology finishes the job through tribalism and the fear of ostracization. For thousands of years, being cast out of the tribe meant physical death, and this institution hijacked that primitive survival mechanism directly. They make you terrified of social exile, whispering into your ear that stepping outside the compound means losing your family, your community, your eternal soul, and your entire support system. So, your amygdala takes over, keeping you in a chronic state of low-level terror, forcing you to silence your own intuition, swallow your own intellect, and become a willing, smiling participant in your own psychological imprisonment.
The only actual difference between the two is scope. A cult is small enough for you to see the concrete walls, whereas religion is so massive and ancient and so normalized that people mistake the entire planet for the compound.
And what makes it even harder to breathe day in and day out is the people themselves, the true believers, fanatics who walk among us. You know the type, the ones who treat their religion like a weapon disguised as a gift. They can't just let people live their lives. They carry this bizarre unearned moral superiority just because they swallowed the corporate mythology and they spend their entire lives sticking their noses into everyone else's business. They judge you for not believing, they want to strip away basic human rights because their dusty holy book gives them an excuse and they corner you at family dinners or on the street constantly pushing their toxic positivity and eternal salvation down your throat, whether you want it or not. They have zero boundaries because in their warped minds, they are saving your soul from eternal fire, so any manipulation, guilt-tripping, or harassment is completely justified in the name of love. It's this suffocating self-righteous arrogance where they look at the world full of real pain, actual scientific progress, and genuine human suffering and instead of showing real empathy or critical thought, they just hand you a pamphlet and tell you to pray harder. It just makes you feel so utterly isolated watching people you care about turn into mindless mouthpieces for an ideology that actively hates independent thought, completely unable to see that their so-called righteousness is actually just a quiet, smiling form of tyranny.
But when you really look at the psychology behind why they act like this, why they are so suffocatingly relentless, it becomes less about malice and more about a deeply fragile, terrified psyche. Psychologists who study religious fundamentalism and fanaticism points to things like terror management theory, explains that human beings are fundamentally terrified of mortality, chaos, and the cold void of existence. When you can't handle the weight of reality, your brain desperately seeks absolute certainty, as we talked about before. These believers have such an agonizingly low tolerance for ambiguity that they build an entire psychological fortress around themselves, dividing the world into strict binaries of pure good and absolute evil. And because their internal sense of security is entirely dependent on that illusion holding together, anyone who doesn't conform to their worldview is perceived not just as having a different opinion, but as an existential threat to their very reality.
That's why they can't just live and let live. Your freedom, your doubt, your peaceful existence is a walking mirror reflecting the cracks in their own artificial paradise. If you can live a happy, moral life without buying into their myth, it means their entire sacrifice, their self-denial, and their fear was for nothing. So, what does the brain do? It uses heavy psychological projection and ego defense mechanism, of course. They project their own repressed doubts outward, turning them into aggressive zealotry. They push their faith down your throat not out of actual love or compassion, but as a desperate ritual of self-validation. Every time they convert someone, every time they force someone to submit, or every time they pass a hateful law, they are desperately trying to quiet the screaming voice of doubt inside their own heads. They just need the whole world to agree with them because if the world doesn't, their fragile house of cards collapses, and they would have to face the terrifying realization that they spend their lives imprisoned in a cage of their own making. It's profoundly sad, but also incredibly dangerous because an entire population of psychologically fragile people are running around with weaponized certainty is a recipe for endless human suffering.
And that's what it all comes down to in the end. When you strip away the gold, the ancient texts, the threats of hell, the billions in wealth, and the endless stream of people trying to force you into their mold, you're left with a quiet, devastating truth. Religion isn't about salvation or love. It's the most enduring, brilliant system of control ever built on human fear.
And it breaks my heart, honestly. It breaks my heart knowing how many millions of people are walking through life wearing chains they think are jewelry, terrified to open their eyes because the dark outside the cage feels too overwhelming. I spent my childhood clutching a rosary, singing in a choir, terrified of a burning hell, and wanting nothing more than to disappear into a nunnery just to appease an invisible judge. And looking back at that scared little girl, it makes me want to cry because she was robbed of her childhood by people who called it love.
If you're out there and you're sitting in your own room right now feeling that same cognitive dissonance, questioning everything, feeling completely isolated and terrified because the lies are starting to fall apart, hear me out. You're not broken. You're not evil. You are just waking up. And yeah, the real world is cold and uncertain. There's no magical safety net catching you when you fall, no sky father writing a script for your life. But at least it's real. At least it's your own freedom, your mind, and your life actually belongs to you. And that's as terrifying as it is is the most beautiful thing in the whole world. Thank you for listening, and don't forget to think for yourself.
