You keep praying as though you are under the circumstance, fighting to climb out. But the word says you are already seated far above it. And that single misunderstanding, that gap between where you think you are and where God says you are, is costing you more than you realize. It is costing you your peace. It is costing you your authority. It is costing you years of striving when God ordained you to reign.
Here is the shocking truth. Most believers never confront the majority of Christians pray from the wrong location. They position themselves spiritually beneath their problems, beneath their diagnoses, beneath their financial crises, beneath the accuser's voice, and then they beg God to come down and rescue them. But the rescue already happened. What God is waiting for is not your prayer of desperation. He is waiting for you to take your seat.
Ephesians 2:6 declares it with breathtaking clarity. God hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That is not a future promise. That is a present tense, already accomplished reality. You are not climbing toward that seat. You are not earning your way to that position. You are already seated, and the seat is not on the floor of your circumstances. The seat is above them, over them, beyond the reach of every principality and power that has ever troubled your life.
Before we go any further into this revelation, I want to ask you something. Drop a comment right now. Tell me the one circumstance that has been making you feel buried, making you feel like you are underneath it and cannot get up. Type it in the comments below. Because by the time this teaching ends, you are going to see that circumstance from a completely different angle. You are going to see it from above. Now let us open this word and let it change the way you see everything.
The passage that anchors this entire revelation is found in Ephesians chapter 1 and chapter 2. Paul writes in Ephesians 1:20 to 21 that God worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named not only in this world but also in that which is to come far above not just above far above and then in Ephesians 2:6 Paul pulls back the curtain on what that resurrection and exaltation means for you as a believer. And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
The Greek word translated sit together is the compound word synkathezo. It combines syn meaning together with and kathezo meaning to sit to be enthroned. This is not casual language. In the first century to be seated was to occupy a position of authority and judgment. When a Roman magistrate sat he ruled. When a king was seated upon his throne his decrees carried legal weight throughout the kingdom. Paul uses this word deliberately. He is not saying you are resting comfortably. He is saying you have been positioned in a seat of governmental authority in the heavenly realm. Seated together with the one who has been placed far above every name that can be named.
Now, look at where Paul says this seat is located. In heavenly places in Christ Jesus. The Greek is in toys eppouraniois. Literally in the heavenlies. This is the realm that governs the natural realm. This is the realm from which spiritual authority is released. This is the realm where your enemy operates and you have been seated above him.
E. W. Kenyon grasped this and wrote it plainly. He said that the believer's position in Christ is not a theological abstraction but a living reality that must be recognized, confessed, and acted upon. The tragedy, Kenyon said, is that most believers live as citizens of Earth trying to touch heaven. When in spiritual reality, they are citizens of heaven governing Earth. Think about what that means for the problem that has been weighing on you. If you are seated above it, you are not beneath it trying to push it off your chest. You are over it. Looking down at it from the vantage point of one who has already been given authority in the name that is above every name. The problem did not move you. The resurrection moved you. Christ's ascension was your ascension in him. And now, by faith, you must live from that location.
This is why Paul builds the theological case in layers. He does not begin Ephesians 2 with the seating. He begins with the condition, "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins." Dead. Not sick. Not weak. Dead. In the spirit. Before Christ, you had no capacity to rise. No ability to change your standing. No strength to lift yourself above the dominion of darkness. And then God, who is rich in mercy, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ. He did not merely improve your condition. He resurrected you. He did not upgrade your spiritual software. He gave you new life entirely. And the very life he gave you is the same resurrection life that carried Christ from the tomb to the throne. You share the quality of that life. You share the position of that throne.
The problem with the modern church is not a lack of faith resources. We have Bibles. We have teachings. We have conferences and broadcasts and prayer lines available at any hour of the day. The problem is positional ignorance. Most believers know they are saved, but they do not know where they are saved to. They know they were rescued from the dominion of darkness. What they have not grasped is that they were transported into the kingdom of God's dear son. And in that kingdom, they are not peasants. They are seated royalty. And the moment that changes, the moment you begin to see your circumstances from above, rather than from beneath, everything about how you pray changes. Everything about how you speak changes. Everything about how you respond to the enemy changes. You stop reacting and start ruling. You stop begging and start enforcing. This is the foundational shift that the spirit of God is after in your life right now.
There is another dimension to this seating that cannot be overlooked. And it is found in the context of the passage itself. Paul tells us in Ephesians 1:21 that Christ is seated far above all principality, power, might, and dominion. These are not generic terms. Paul is speaking of the tiered hierarchy of spiritual government, the ranks of angelic and demonic beings that operate in the unseen realm. Principalities govern regions. Powers enforce spiritual law. Might refers to inherent force. Dominion speaks of ruling authority. Christ is above all of it. Every rank, every tier, every level of the invisible world is beneath his feet. And you in him are seated with him in that same position.
Galatians 2:20 is the hinge that makes this personal. I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live. Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. The Apostle Paul understood that his union with Christ was not merely an event in the past. It was a living present reality. When Christ died, Paul died. When Christ rose, Paul rose. When Christ ascended and was seated, Paul was seated. The identification is complete. The union is total. And it is not unique to Paul. It is the inheritance of every believer who has been born of the Spirit of God. This is the law of identification. And it is the most neglected doctrine in the American church today. We celebrate the cross. We preach the resurrection. But we stop short of following Christ all the way to the seat. We leave him on the cross or at best at the empty tomb. And we never travel with him through the ascension into the heavenly places where the throne is and where our enemy is beneath our feet.
Picture a military general who has won the decisive battle of the war. The enemy's fortress has fallen. The enemy's command structure has been dismantled. The commander-in-chief of the opposing forces has been publicly humiliated and stripped of his rank. And the winning general now occupies the high ground. The commanding position that looks out over the entire theater of war. From that position, he issues orders. From that position, he deploys forces. From that position, he enforces the terms of the surrender. He does not descend from the high ground to fight hand to hand with scattered remnants of a defeated army. He rules from above. That is your position. That is what the seating means.
Colossians 2:15 declares that God through the cross, having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. The word spoiled in the Greek is aphekduomai, which means to strip completely, to divest entirely, to take away all covering and all authority. Jesus stripped the principalities of their governing authority. He publicly disarmed them. He paraded them as a conquered foe before the host of heaven. And then he was seated in the place of supreme authority, not as a soldier recovering from battle, but as a victor enthroned in triumph. You share that throne. Now live like it.
Imagine this. A man receives a legal document bearing his name. The document is a deed of ownership for a vast estate, thousands of acres, multiple properties, abundant resources. The deed is signed, notarized, and legally binding. It cannot be contested. But the man folds the document and puts it in a drawer. He continues to live in a one-room apartment. He continues to eat sparingly, worrying about every expense. He never visits the estate. He never inspects the land. He never takes possession of what legally belongs to him. Why not? Because the deed is invalid? It is perfectly valid. But because he is not yet acted on the reality it declares, this is the picture of the seated church.
Ephesians 2:6 is your deed. It is signed in the blood of Jesus. It is notarized by the resurrection. It cannot be contested in any court of heaven or earth. But if you fold it and put it in a drawer, if you hear the truth of your position, and then continue living from the floor of your circumstances rather than from the seat of your authority, you will spend your life as a spiritual tenant when you are a covenant heir.
E W Kenyon captured this with characteristic precision. He wrote that the believer's greatest need is not more prayer for what God has already provided, but more revelation of what they already possess. The resources are not in transit. They are not being prepared. They have been deposited in the account of every new creation. The inheritance is already in your name. What you need is not another prayer meeting to acquire it. You need the courage of faith to draw on what is already there.
You may be asking right now, "But what about my situation? What about this sickness that has not left? What about this financial mountain that has not moved? What about this relationship that seems beyond repair? If I am seated above it, why does it still feel so overwhelming?" And that is exactly the right question to ask, because it leads us to the most important practical distinction in this teaching. Your position is not determined by how you feel. Your position is determined by what God has said and done. Those are two entirely different things. And confusing them is the source of most of the defeat that believers experience.
When you allow the weight of your circumstances to define your spiritual location, you have surrendered your position, not legally. Legally, you are still seated. But experientially, functionally, in terms of how you pray and speak and respond, you have descended. You have vacated the seat and gone back down to fight from the ground. This is what the enemy wants. He cannot remove you from the seat. Ephesians 2:6 is a divine decree. It cannot be altered by any power in heaven or earth. But he can convince you to live as though you are not seated. He can keep you praying from beneath your circumstances if he can keep you feeling overwhelmed by them.
This is why Paul says in Romans 12:2, "Be not conformed to this world, but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind." The renewing of the mind is the process by which you bring your consciousness into alignment with your position. You begin to think from above, not from beneath. You begin to see your problem from the perspective of one who is already elevated over it, not one who is trapped under it.
Here is how this changes your prayer life immediately. When you pray from beneath a circumstance, your prayer sounds like this, "Oh God, please do something about this. I cannot bear it anymore. This sickness is too much. This debt is overwhelming me. Lord, I need you to intervene." That is the prayer of someone who believes the problem is greater than they are. And God hears that prayer. He is compassionate. He is not annoyed by the cry of his children. But that prayer is not operating from the position of authority that Christ purchased for you. It is operating from fear and feelings. And fear and feelings are not the currency of the kingdom.
When you pray from above, when you pray from your seated position, the prayer sounds entirely different. It sounds like this, Father, "I thank you that I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above this circumstance. I declare that this sickness has no legal right to remain in this body because by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed. According to 1 Peter 2:24, I command this mountain to be removed in the name of Jesus. According to Mark 11:23, I enforce the finished work of the cross over this situation." That is not arrogance. That is not presumption. That is a believer who has taken their seat and is now speaking from it.
Begin to speak these confessions aloud right now. Say them with the full weight of conviction. I am seated with Christ in heavenly places far above every principality and power that has come against me. I am not under this circumstance. I am over it. Because I am in him who is above all. The finished work of the cross is my legal ground. And I enforce it now in Jesus' name.
The enemy does not want you to discover this. He has studied the word longer than you have been alive. And he knows exactly what a believer who grasps their seated position is capable of. He knows that a believer who prays from above is one he cannot silence. He knows that a believer who speaks from identity, from the reality of who they are in Christ, is a direct threat to every work of darkness. And so his primary strategy against you is not sickness or poverty or relationship failure. Though he may use all of those, his primary strategy is to make you forget where you are sitting. He does this through a relentless campaign of accusation. He reminds you of your failures. He brings up your past. He whispers that you are not qualified for the authority you are attempting to exercise. He says, "Who do you think you are? Speaking to that mountain, who are you to declare healing over that body? You are just a sinner saved by grace." And if you agree with him, if you descend in your consciousness from the seat to the floor, you have handed him the only victory he is capable of winning.
Revelation 12:11 tells us plainly how the overcomers prevailed. They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, not by their feelings, not by their spiritual resume, not by the absence of opposition. They overcame by two things, the blood, which is the objective legal ground of their victory, and the word of their testimony, which is their confession of that legal ground in the face of the accuser. The blood is the fact. The testimony is your declaration of the fact, and when those two things come together, when the blood and your spoken agreement with the blood operate simultaneously, the enemy has nothing left to work with.
This is why Hebrews 4:14 says, "Let us hold fast our profession." The Greek word for profession is homologea, and it is the same word translated confession. Kenyon taught extensively on this. He said that homologea is not a one-time declaration. It is a sustained agreement with what God has said, maintained in the face of every contradiction. You hold it fast. You do not release it when the symptoms scream. You do not surrender it when the bank account seems to contradict the promise. You hold fast to your position. You hold fast to the seat. And the holding fast is not desperation. It is rest. It is the rest of one who knows the verdict is already in.
Consider this picture. A judge has rendered his verdict. The gavel has come down. The bailiff has read the ruling. The courtroom is adjourned. Now the losing side sends a letter to the winning party demanding they comply with the old ruling from the prior court, the one that was overturned. The winning party has two choices. They can panic as though the old ruling still has force. Or they can hold up the new verdict and say, "This case has been decided. This ruling supersedes everything before it. Take your paperwork back. The court has spoken." That is what you do when Satan accuses. You hold up the blood. You hold up the verdict of Calvary. You say, "The case is closed. The law demanded justice. Jesus satisfied every claim. There is therefore now no condemnation. I am seated above this accusation. And I am not coming down."
You do not fight for the throne. You fight from the throne. You are not trying to win what Christ already secured. You are enforcing what has already been decided in the courts of heaven. And your words are the instrument of that enforcement on the earth.
The enemy's resistance to this revelation is fierce precisely because the revelation is true. When a stronghold is real, the opposition to its removal is equally real. If this teaching were merely theory, if your seated position were just theological language with no practical power, the enemy would not bother attacking it. He would leave it as a comfortable but toothless doctrine. But he attacks this revelation because he knows what happens when it becomes a living reality in a believer's life. He knows that a man or woman who truly grasps that they are seated above the circumstances ceases to be manageable. They stop begging. They stop apologizing for their authority. They stop shrinking back from the mountains in their life. And they begin to speak with conviction, with consistency, with the full weight of the name of Jesus behind every word.
Luke 10:19 gives us the scope of this authority. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. The word power here in the original Greek is exousia, delegated authority. The legal right to act in another's name. This is not the dynamis of raw spiritual force. This is exousia, the governmental right to represent the kingdom of God and to enforce its decrees. Jesus did not say he was giving the disciples special power that might expire. He said he was giving them authority over all the power of the enemy. Not some of it. All of it. And he gave that same authority to you because you are in him. And he is in you. And together you are seated in heavenly places far above every rank of darkness that exists.
The practical step begins the moment this teaching ends. Go back to that problem you typed in the comments. Look at it again. But this time, do not look at it from beneath. Get above it in your mind. See yourself as God sees you seated, elevated, positioned in Christ, far above the reach of that problem's spiritual authority over you. And then open your mouth and speak to it. Not as a beggar, not as a victim, but as a seated believer exercising the authority that has been delegated to you by the one who holds all authority in heaven and earth. Declare, "I am seated above this in the name of Jesus. It has no authority over me. I enforce the finished work of Christ over my life, my body, my family, and my future." That is not performance. That is not religious noise. That is a son or daughter of God seated in heavenly places speaking from above into the natural realm and commanding it to align with the reality of the kingdom.
But there is something deeper still. There is a dimension of this seated position that goes beyond authority over the enemy and beyond victory over circumstances. There is a fellowship dimension to the seat, a relational reality that most believers miss entirely because they are so focused on the warfare aspect that they forget the throne is first and foremost the Father's throne. And it is there, in the throne room of the Father, that the deepest transformation of all takes place. The seat is not only a place of authority. It is a place of access. It is the place where sons dwell in the presence of the Father with unrestricted, unashamed fellowship. Without grasping this, even the boldest declarations lack the depth that comes from resting in the love of the one who elevated you. That is the dimension we must enter, the fellowship of the throne room, the place where authority and intimacy meet. And what unfolds in that place will change not only how you reign, but how you live every day of your remaining time on this earth.
In summary, God has already done the most important thing. He has seated you with Christ far above every name, every principality, every circumstance that has ever troubled your life. Your part is not to climb up to that position. It is to believe it, confess it, and live from it. Stop praying from beneath your problems and start enforcing from above them. Renew your mind daily with Ephesians 2:6, Ephesians 1:20-21, and Colossians 2:15 until the consciousness of your seated position is more real than any symptom or trial you face. Speak confessions of your position every morning. Come to God not as a beggar hoping to be heard, but as a seated son or daughter who already has the Father's ear, the kingdom's authority, and the finished work of Christ as unshakable legal ground. You are not climbing. You are reigning. Start living accordingly.
