Hey, there's a little something I wanted to share with you, uh, this morning. A couple of weeks ago, I had an opportunity to go down to our local high school and share the word of God with some students there. And so, I gave them the option: uh, would you like to hear a full-on sermon at, uh, 6:30 in the morning, or would you like to hear a poem? [snorts] And would you believe, uh, they chose the poem? Uh, so I turned the sermon into a poem, and the poem is called, uh, "When the Devil Runs."
It comes out of Revelation 12:11, and this is what the word of God says. It says, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their own lives unto death." So, I wanted to share that with you, uh, today, and it goes something like this.
Have you ever thought not of you running from the devil, but the devil running from you? See, we lived too long in this standoff faith. Devil, mind your own business, and I'll mind mine. But hear me: he's not negotiating. He's not compromising. He's not retreating until somebody resist him. See, you don't scare him with good intentions. He yawns at your New Year's resolutions. He laughs at your positive vibes, and he shrugs at your "I'll try harder tomorrow."
But there's one thing. There's one thing that makes hell tremble. There's one sound that splits the darkness. There's one name that shakes the pit. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. You see, they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, the word of their testimony. They love not their own lives unto death. Oh, hear the Pentecost wind blow!
The devil does not fear your willpower. He fears the shed blood of Christ. He does not tremble at your charm. He trembles at the name of Jesus. He does not back down from your personality. He backs up from the blood of Christ.
And when the enemy gets on your case, and when he gets in your face, and he whispers in your ear, when he knocks on your door at midnight, don't open the door in fear. Don't negotiate with weakness. Don't sit in silence and in defeat. No, you stand up and you plead the blood of Christ. Uh, you speak the word of God. You testify anyway and you say, "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I resist you!"
And when the wind begins to blow, because resistance is not passive. Resistance is warfare. Resistance is faith with fire in it. You bring the blood against him. You bring the word of God against him. And you bring your commitment against him. You bring your faith and your courage against him.
And when he says, "You're finished," you say, "I'm covered." When he say, "You failed," you say, "I am forgiven." And when he says, "You're weak," you say, "Greater is in me than it is in the!"
