Hello guys and welcome to World Cup predictions. I am joined by my sister Sophie and over the next 50 days we will be predicting each and every World Cup game. Today we start with the first set of games in the group stage that will take us over the next week or so. Sophie, how are you? And set us a big like target.

We will list the fixtures down in the description. Let's start on the opening day with Mexico versus South Africa. And this game of course automatically takes me back to the first game of the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa. Who scored the first goal in that World Cup? Sophie.
That'll be the legend. That is Shabala. Sifwe Shabala banging it into the top corner. Um this time round Sophie Mexico are the host nation or at least one of them. I think they're going to be too strong for South Africa. I am going to give South Africa a goal but I'll go with Mexico to win quite comfortably. 3-1.
Okay, I'm going to go 2-1, but I'm back in the host nation as well.
Yeah. Do you think Mexico win this group? I think you've already said they do, but I mean there's a couple of decent teams in it.
Yeah, I mean I do expect Mexico to be quite strong, but as you said, there are some decent teams, but I do still expect them to top the group.
Yes, let us know your thoughts down below on that one. The next game in the World Cup, Sophie, is South Korea versus Czecha. Really interesting this one. These are the other two teams in group A. And we've already said this group is very, very even. This is a big game in probably determining who finishes higher out of the two teams in the group. Sophie, you can go first. Prediction.
I'm actually going to back check to do it. I'm going to go for another 2-1.
You're going to go 2-1 check. Yeah. South Korea, of course, do have a couple of players that play in European leagues. Of course, we're very familiar with Hungman Son. They've had some good players over the years, but I'll go for a draw in this one. I'm going to go 1-1.
Okay. Uh I just don't think there's a lot to separate the two. Let us know your thoughts down below on that one. Again. Next up, Sophie, we move on to group B as the next host nation, Canada, are in action. They take on Bosnia. I think Canada, Sophie, really need to send a message in their first game. Um, at least just don't lose it because I think it's really important as a host nation to get off to an encouraging start. I think I think Bosnia could win. I think Canada could win. I think it's a really delicately poised one. I will just go with home advantage and I'm going to go one nil to Canada.
Okay, I'm actually going to chuck in another goal and say 2-0 to Canada. I think it is going to be a bit of a host nation. Okay, getting off to a good start. Everyone's going to be behind them and yeah, I think they're going to reward them with a win.
There you go. We're both back in Canada and Mexico to get off to winning starts. Will we do the same for the United States of America, Sophie? They take on Paraguay. Paraguay did very well in qualifying, but I really like USA. I think out of the home nations, I think they might go the furthest. Of course, we're very familiar with a certain Wright. I don't know how much he's going to play, but they've got some very decent players in there that we've seen in the English leagues and across Europe. I think I think the USA beat Paraguay. What do you reckon?
Yeah, I think there could be a few goals in this one. I'm going to say USA. USA 3-1.
3-1. Yeah.
I'll go 2-1. Yeah, I'll go with USA to edge it. I think they've just got a bit more quality, but I did say Paraguay did well qualifying and they might still get out of this group. Let us know your thoughts down below. Next up, Sophie, we have Qatar taking on Switzerland. Qatar, of course, hosted the last World Cup. It didn't go very well for them. They didn't get through their group. If they can get a result against Switzerland, I think that'd be so impressive. But I think Switzerland are way too powerful. I think they've got so many decent players and I think they're a very well-rounded team. And we're going to go Kataran nil, Switzerland three.
Yeah. Are we able to do the same score line?

Four 4-nil Switzerland.
Yeah, I was going to say 3-0. I don't I think there could be more goals than two, so guess I've got to go for the four.
Yeah. Um, I should have maybe outlined the rules in the predictions that myself and Sophie do against each other through the Premier League and Championship season. We're not allowed to copy what the first person has said. Um, and we will be scoring points against each other, by the way. Of course. Um, Sophie, next up, Brazil take on Morocco. Really good matchup here. Morocco. Sophie, of course, the winners of the Africa Cup of Nations somehow. Um, they take on Brazil. Brazil, of course, the team in the world with the most World Cups. They've won five, but it's now been 24 years since they last won one. Sophie, um, you are first. Do Brazil get off to a winning start? I think it's a tricky game.
Yeah, I think it is a tricky game, but I am going to back them to I'm going to say 2-1. So, not a lot to separate the two, but I do I do see them edge in it.
Yeah, when you think of Brazil and you think of World Cups, you think of them winning games by three, four, five goals and they're just very nice on the eye and all those great players over the years. Pelle, Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka. Oh god, you could go on. I think this game might be lowcoring. I think Morocco are going to be solid defensively and I think Brazil are going to have to win it 1 nil. I think they will get the job done, but I don't think it's going to be loads of goals.
No. Next up, Sophie, we have Haiti versus Scotland. This is massive for Scotland. Sophie, if they win this game, it almost already puts them into the knockout stages. Haiti, not to be underestimated, of course, they did well in qualifying, but Sophie, Scotland have players that play in much better leagues than Haiti do. And I'm going to say I'm going to say Haiti nil Scotland too. I think Steve Clark is a very very good manager. I think Scotland are a nicely balanced team and I think they get through this group. I'm going to go 2-0.
Yeah, I think you're forgetting that Haiti have the legend that is Duck Nazison.
Oh, from Coventry. Yeah, that's going back a few years. Yeah.
Yeah, it is going back. But feed the duck and he shall score. But it depends if they've brought their bread. And I'm going to say haggis outweighs the bread. So for me, Scotland do this one 2-1.
Oh, there you go. Go Scotland, go. Next up, Sophie, we have Australia versus Turkey. And these two are of course in the same group as USA and Paraguay. I think this is a really open group where they've they've all got to go for it because they've all got a chance. I think USA are the favorites, but this is an interesting one here. I think I'd slightly back Turkey more, but I I could see Australia maybe getting a draw. What's your prediction?
Yeah, I might actually go for a 1-1. I've not gone for any draws yet and this one I do feel like could end a draw.
Yeah, I was going to go 1-1. So, I will go for a draw and say let's have some fun. 33.

You know what? Then there's there's going to be one game in the group stage, isn't there? Where there's just loads of goals. Yeah. And let's go with the Socceroos to take a 3-3 draw off Turkey. Let me know your thoughts down below. Next up, Sophie, we have Germany versus Kurissau. Now, this game could have quite a few goals, but they're probably all going to go in one direction. Sophie, um I'm up first and I think Germany will win their group. I think Kurissau are going to struggle, but I'm going to be nice. I'm going to give them a goal, but I think Germany will win. And let's go for a bonus point again. 4-1 to Germany.
Okay. I thought it was going to be another scribble. Uh for me, 4-0 Germany. I don't see Karaka scoring. Um, so yeah, straightforward 4-0il.
Germany have got to got to at least get to the quarterfinals or or even the semi-finals to try and restore some pride because they've been a bit disappointing in previous World Cups, haven't they?
Yeah, it has been a little bit underwhelming since they won it basically.
Yeah, that's right. Yeah, that's 12 years ago now.
It's crazy how time flies. Next up, Sophie, Netherlands take on Japan. Really like this matchup, Sophie. I think Japan are capable of winning this match. Um, we've seen them do well in I know I know they're friendlies, but in qualifying and in friendly games in the buildup to the World Cup. Netherlands have a good team though, Sophie. And if they if they win this game, they probably win the group. Prediction?
Yeah, I have got them to finish top of the group. So, I'm going to say 2-1 to Netherlands.
Yeah. Um, what would your expectations be for Netherlands? Quarterfinals.
Yeah, I think so.
I'm going to back Japan. There's always a surprise in the group stage and I don't even think it's that big of a surprise. I think they could just do it. Netherlands one, Japan 2. I'm going to go with the Japanese to launch a surprise attack on the Dutch.
I like it.
On American soil.
Next up, Sophie, you've got Ivory Coast versus Ecuador. They're both in group E. We both think Germany will win that group, but there is a lot to play for in for, you know, second place and for the best third place team here. Um, I'm going to go with Ecuador. I think I said before that I think Ivory Coast can be a bit disappointing actually.
Two-0il Ecuador.
Do you know what? I'm going to go for my first nil nil.
Yeah, I was going to back Ecuador to do it one nil but I think I think it could end a bit of a disappointing one. So nil nil.
Nil nil. There's got to be a nil nil in there somewhere.

Next up Sophie Sweden take on Tunisia. Sweden have lots of firepower in Yakarez is um they could really hurt Tannisia. But Tannisia did well in qualifying and
If Tunisia are going to get through their group, they've probably got to get a result in this game. They probably got to at least take a draw. I will go I I will let you go first, Sophie. I forgot the rules.
Ah um 3-1 to Sweden. I think there could be a few goals in this one.
Yeah, I'll go 2-1 to Sweden. And I think Sweden do win this one, but um I don't know. I just remember Tannisia in 2018 making life difficult for England.
Yeah.
But then that's England, right? So.
England making life difficult for England. Yeah. But I think with Tannisia, Sophie, they could they could be very cynical and dirty and maybe get away with it.
Yeah. And um I think that's going to be their best chance of getting anything from the game to be honest.
Yeah. Let us know your thoughts down below. Next up, Sophie, Spain versus Cape Verde. What a mismatch this is. Um I think Spain win. I think Cape Verde, by the way, fair play to them. You know, I love to see different teams qualifying for the World Cup. This is going to be great for their fans, except for the fact it's very expensive. Um I think Spain win this, but I think Cape Verie will give a decent account of themselves. I think it's going to be 2-0 to Spain.
Oh, we disagree massively on this one. Uh 5-nil Spain.
Yeah.
They could do that though.
Yeah, I think they will. They're very, very good. So 5-nil.
I mean Sophie's already told me um and she's told you guys in a previous video that her team to win the World Cup is Spain, so makes sense. Yeah.
Next up, Sophie, Belgium versus Egypt. Can the likes of MoSalah stop Belgium from winning Group G? Sophie, prediction.
2-1 Belgium. I was going to say 1 nil, but then I do fancy Egypt to get on the score sheet, so 2-1.
I'll go 31 Belgium. Do you not think Sophie?
Egypt I don't know very different to Morocco where Morocco have done well in African competitions and done well in world in world cups. Egypt do fairly well in African competitions but then when it comes to the World Cup.
Disappointing.
They're disappointing.
Yeah, I would agree with that. Um I mean this is probably their last World Cup with Salah. So you think, okay, if they're going to do anything, unless they create another amazing player, you think it's got to be now. So we'll see. It's all or nothing, really.
Yeah, I agree. Next up, Sophie, Saudi Arabia take on Uruguay. Saudi Arabia, of course, in their first game in the 2022 World Cup beat Argentina 2-1. Could they beat Uruguay, Sophie? Um, I don't think so.
But I think it could be close. I think it's going to be I think it's going to be tight. I think Uruguay are going to really have to graft for this. Saudi Arabia nil, Uruguay won.
Ah, that's what I was going to say. All right, 2-0 then. I think it is going to be 1 nil. Uruguay. I think it could be a lowscoring one, but obviously I can't go for it. So, I'll chuck in another goal. I'll say last minute one. Uruguay 2-0.
Uruguay 2-0. Let us know your thoughts down below on that one. Next up, Sophie, Iran take on New Zealand. I do slightly prefer Iran's chances of getting through this group over New Zealand. I think they've got better quality in their team, but togetherness can mean a lot in a sport like football, even if you might not have the quality to match up to your opposition. And I think New Zealand have that in abundance. We see it in other competitions. I mean, obviously they're very good at other sports like rugby, of course, but um I don't know, just in general, I remember them at the 2010 World Cup and they managed to draw every game and they went unbeaten and I think they could possibly get a draw off Iran.
Prediction, Sophie?
Uh I'm actually going to say 1 nil Iran, but I could see it ending a draw as well.
Okay. Well, I'm going to go nil nil then.
Okay.
Let's give let's give New Zealand a draw. Yeah, you're going with Iran. I'll go with the draw. Next up, Sophie, France take on Seneagal. France are going to be the favorites with a lot of people to win this competition, but Seneagal are one of the better African teams, but surely France are still too strong. I'm going to go 3-1 to the French.
I'll go 2-0. So, same deficit, but yeah, I say they keep a clean sheet. I just think France going to be too strong. So, 2-0.
They just got so much firepower, haven't they?
They really do. You look at that team, you think they're stacked out with their attacking options. It's scary. Right. Next up, Sophie, Iraq take on Norway. Some of these countries, this is a really interesting mix, isn't it? Who's gonna win this one, Sophie? Um, Iraq, uh, I think they've only ever been at the World Cup once before. Norway did very well in qualifying, of course, they've got Erling Harland. Um, prediction.
I mean, they've also got Erdigard as well. Um, one nil Norway.
I think 2-0. Yeah, I think they can win quite comfortably here. I think Iraq will try and make it difficult, but I think Norway are just going to be too strong. So, yeah, two-0 to Norway and I do think they will get through their group. Next up, Sophie, Argentina take on Algeria. Algeria once again, a good African team, but this is Argentina. It's the team that won the World Cup four years ago. And although Messi is another four years older, he's still there. They've still got a lot of quality. They've still got a lot of that team that won them the World Cup last time. Sophie, I'm going to go with Argentina to win.
2-0.
Yeah, I might go 3-0 then. Chucking another goal. I think Argentina are going to be a lot of people's favorites. And if they get off to a flying start, you can see why. Um, and I feel like this could be a bit of a statement game. So, I'll go 3-0.
Yeah, Argentina a lot of people's tip to also win the World Cup. Um, what about this one, Sophie? Austria take on Jordan. Jordan playing in their first World Cup. Very exciting for them. Austria, Sophie, I think they're a very good balanced team. A bit like what I said about Switzerland. And I don't know. Do you think there's something in the fact that when you haven't got an outright star?
There's more togetherness maybe? I don't know.
Yeah. Sometimes like there's obviously going to be like less ego. Um and yeah, you just want a really well-rounded team. And yeah, I feel like they are pretty wellrounded. I'm only going to say 1 nil though this one.
I think I'll go heavy here. I'll go Austria 3-0 to be different to you. I do think Austria could do quite well at this World Cup. Sorry, Jordan. I hope you prove me wrong, but I'm going to go with Austria. Next up, Sophie, we have Portugal versus the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This could be a bit of a bloodbath, Sophie, if Portugal really go for it. But the Democratic Republic of the Congo could surprise them. They've got to just bully Portugal. They've got to use their physicality, haven't they?
Yeah. I mean, I don't think many people are expecting much from the DRC, and I'm not really, especially coming up against Portugal as well. I think.
I'm going to chuck a prediction in first. Sorry.
4-1 to Portugal.
Oh, okay. Um, I mean, I'm going to go for the same deficit anyway. I'm going to say 3-0.
Uh, I like the fact that you've given them a goal, but I don't know. I just think this is going to be such a one-sided affair. I feel like you haven't gone for many surprises, by the way, Sophie, but.

We'll see. There's three games left. Next up, Sophie, England take on Croatia. Of course, England's first World Cup game under Thomas Tukul. How will we get on? Um, I always think it's difficult playing Croatia. They never give you an easy game. Even if you do beat them, you have to graft for it. Of course, we did beat them a few years ago in the Euros 1-0il, but in the World Cup eight years ago, they beat us in the semi-finals. I don't think a draw would totally surprise me, Sophie. But should England be winning this?
Uh, should be, yes, but I think we might get off to a slow start. So, for me, this is my surprise. 2-2.

Kicking off with Desmond. I'll go with it to be like a hard watch for England are going to do it one nil to England.
Yeah. I mean, there's one thing guaranteed and watching England is pretty hard watch a lot of the time. So.
Look I when it comes to the World Cup and the Euros I get really into it. I get more into it in the knockout stages.
I just think in the group stages England should be coming out on top or at least second. This is the hardest game in our group and I will back us to win it but I think it'd be close 1 nil. Let us know your thoughts down below. Next up, Sophie, Ghana take on Panama, the other two teams in England's group in group L. Um, I think Ghana are going to be too strong here, Sophie. I think they're going to be way too physical. I think they've got way much more quality. I think Panama could get a goal or two in the World Cup, but I'm not going to give them a goal here. I'm going to go Ghana 2-0.
I actually am going to give them a goal here. I'm going to say Ghana 2-1. So, I'm saying Panama gets a goal here because I don't think they're going to get many others. Um but it's not going to be enough. So two on Ghana.
Okay, we're both back in Ghana. And then the final game to predict Sophie in this video is Usbekistan versus Colombia in group K. Um I think Colombia have got to be made the favorites the quality they've got. But I don't know. Prediction.
2-0 Colombia.
Right. I'm going to end with some fun. Let's let's give Usbekistan a couple of goals. They're a decent team. They did well in qualifying as well. Let's go Usbekistan 2, Colombia 3.
