The Supernatural Power of Holy Communion

Gregory Dickow21:42

Transcription

Today, we're diving into one of the most transformative experiences in the Christian faith. Holy communion. It's also one of the most misunderstood and underutilized power that God wants to give to your life.

Not only do I want to teach you about the supernatural power of Holy Communion, but I also want to lead you through a communion experience that has brought miraculous breakthroughs to countless lives. I've led people in Holy Communion for decades, and I've seen people experience personal miracles just by taking communion. We've seen tumors disappear, cancers healed, blood diseases dried up. We've seen people set free from addictions, from temptation. We've seen families restored, marriages restored so much more.

We're going to do this together. And I believe you are never going to be the same again. Get ready for the supernatural power of Holy Communion. Get some communion elements, because at the end of this time together, we're going to take communion, and we're going to release that power that Jesus had provided for us. By the way, we call it Holy Communion, not because we're holy enough. It's holy because Jesus’ body and blood are holy, and they make us holy when we eat them.

What is communion? Now let's answer this question. It is the miracle of oneness with Jesus. What is communion? It is the miracle of oneness with Jesus. It's the ultimate interruption to a life without peace, without the presence, and without the power of God. Holy communion interrupts. It interrupts the curses of sickness and poverty and fear. It interrupts the curses of mental illness and family curses and the curse of doubt and uncertainty.

Jesus said, when the hour came in Luke chapter 22, he said he took his place at the table with his apostles. And he said to them, I've eagerly desired to eat this with you. And the Bible says in verse 17, after taking the cup, he gave thanks, and he said, take this and divide it among you. Notice this is not some religious ritual that Jesus is introducing. Here he is introducing his deepest desire: you.

The Bible says in the message translation in verse 14, when it was time he sat down and all the apostles with him, and he said, you have no idea how much I've looked forward to eating this Passover meal with you. You have no idea. See, the passion, the desire that you're his desire. You're his dream. You're his passion. He said it's the last one I'm going to eat until we all eat it together in the kingdom of God. Wow. Jesus eagerly desires you. He longs to sit with you. He longs to make this covenant with you. While he's made this covenant with you, all you got to do is receive it and accept it. He said, you have no idea how much I look forward to eating this. I think you don't have any idea right now how much Jesus is looking forward to this moment that we're going to have with him. It's not just you and me, it's you and me and him. It can be you and him. I don't have to be here. But I'm telling you, this is going to change your life. It's not just the eating. It's the sharing of this covenant between God and man. Jesus loves the idea of you and me getting all the blessings that he rightfully deserves. That's why it says we're joint heirs with Jesus in Romans 8:16, and we're seated with him in heavenly places in Ephesians 2, ruling and reigning with him in Revelation chapter 1. That's why it says in Romans 8:32, he did not spare his own son, but delivered him up for us all. How shall he not also with him freely give us all things?

This blood covenant cannot be broken. It's the blood of Jesus Christ. It's the blood of God and the blood of man, the perfect God, and the perfect man, Jesus mingled into one. Hebrews chapter nine verse 28 says, so Christ, having been offered once, having been offered once and once for all, to bear as a burden the sins of many. He will appear a second time when he returns to earth, not to deal with sin because he already dealt with it. He'll return to bring salvation to those who eagerly and confidently are waiting for him. Listen, Jesus shares his suffering with us through communion so we can share his glory, so we can share his glory with us.

1 Corinthians 10 says that communion is communing with God. And it says in verse 16, this cup of blessing. He says, this cup of blessing which we bless. Is it not the communion of the blood of Christ and the bread which we break? Is it not the communion of the body of Christ? In other words, when we eat the bread and when we drink the cup, we're communing with Jesus. We're fellowshipping with him. We're fellowshipping with his body in his blood. We're mingling our life with his. Whatever he is, we are and whatever he has now, we have and whatever anointing and healing is in his body and in his blood is activated into our body through the power of communion. It's an exchange of life. The blood covenant did it. But the act of Holy Communion activates it in our lives. And that's what the word communion means. It means an exchange of life to commune together.

And so many Christians are robbed of this power. We've been robbed of this revelation and this blessing because of what religion has taught us. Some of us have been taught that if we eat the bread and drink the cup without cleaning up our lives completely, then something bad is going to happen to us. But listen, nothing bad is going to happen. By taking communion today, things are already happening that are bad. Things are already bad. Bad things are already happening in our lives without the body and blood of Jesus, boy. But when you get a hold of what's going to happen when you believe and activate your faith in the power of his blood, it's going to reverse the curse. It's going to turn things around and it turn the cursing into a blessing, sickness into healing, right? He takes our sin and gives us his righteousness. It's going to turn everything around for your good.

Now, what does the Bible say about taking the cup in an unworthy manner? In first Corinthians chapter 11, many of us have been taught that if we don't get all the sin out of our life, then we're drinking the cup, in a word, in an unworthy manner. But people have twisted that verse. Religion twists that verse. The devil twists that verse to to confuse people. That's it's just not true. You can't become worthy to be able to drink the cup. The worthiness that he's talking about is the worthiness of the blood of Jesus.

First Corinthians 11:27 says, for he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself and not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason, he said, many are sick and weak among you, and many sleep. In other words, he's saying when you drink it in an unworthy manner, the unworthy manner of drinking the cup is to drink it and not expect the healing, not expect the blessing, not expect the exchange drinking in an unworthy manner. The reason people are weak and sick among us when they take communion is because they're taking it without expecting to be healed and without expecting strength. You take it in an unworthy manner when you take it. Not believing when you take it and don't believe it actually will do something. That's what eating it in an unworthy manner is. There's already judgment coming without the blood of Jesus. And so we're activating our faith through the blood of Jesus. What makes us drink this cup in an unworthy manner is not our sin. It's doubting the worthiness of Jesus blood, not the worthiness of us or everything we've done right. It's the worthiness of the blood doubting that brings negativity into our lives, but believing that activates the healing and power in our lives. The negativity was already there. You see, without Jesus, without his body, without his blood.

When you believe that what Jesus did is enough for your breakthrough, your marriage, your family, your healing, your forgiveness, your blessing, that's when it releases its power. That's when you're activating the power of God.

Now let's talk about healing and medicine for a moment so that we're not confused. Let me talk about medicine because I am absolutely a believer in many forms of medicine. But if we can put our confidence in the medicine that a doctor prescribes by drinking that medicine or swallowing that medicine because the doctor prescribes it, we should have confidence in the medicine we're taking, right? If the doctor prescribes a medicine and we take it, we should have confidence that it's going to do something in our lives right? But why don't we act like that when we take communion? We don't believe in the power of the blood of Jesus, and yet the power is in his blood, in his body, just as much as there may be power, more than if there's power in a prescribed medicine, you're taking it by faith in what the doctor said. Let's take the body and blood of Jesus by faith in what Jesus said, and let's take this and expect it right. The doctor prescribes it, and you take it. How much more should we put our faith in the blood of Jesus? Our confidence in the body of Jesus through the bread and through the cup? There's so much power in this blood.

Now listen. Your miracle is waiting. Let's talk about the benefits, the miraculous benefits of communion. In Genesis chapter 14 real quick. The first benefit that I want you to see from the first book of the Bible, dating back to before the law, when Jesus met with Abraham, before he even became Abraham. Jesus comes in the form of Melchizedek. The first blessing or supernatural benefit of communion. Holy communion is supernatural peace.

In Genesis 14:18 it says, Then Melchizedek king of Salem, which means peace. He brought out the bread and the wine and took communion with Abraham. So he had the bread, and he had the cup, just like you have right now, just like I have right now. And when Abraham took the cup and took communion, the Bible says, Melchizedek, the king of Salem, which is the king of Shalom. That word shalom is the word peace. It means nothing missing and nothing broken. When we take communion, the King of Peace enters in on the scene. Peace shows up in your life no matter what you're dealing with, because Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and we're eating his body and drinking his blood. And that means nothing's going to be missing and nothing's going to be broken. This includes healing in our body and wholeness in our lives. That's part of the promise of peace. Shalom. So, number one, expect supernatural peace when you take communion.

Number two is found in Genesis chapter 15, verse one. He goes on to say, now after these things, after what things? After Abraham takes communion with Melchizedek, who represents Jesus. In this chapter, after Abraham takes communion, the word of the Lord comes to Abraham. What does that mean? It means that the second supernatural benefit of taking communion is you can expect to receive a word from God. You can expect to receive the answer that you need. The wisdom you need is going to show up. It's in Scripture, but it's going to show up in your situation. The right answer at the right time is going to show up in your life, just like it did for Abraham when he took communion with Melchizedek. The answer is going to come. We're taking communion with Jesus and you know what's going to happen next? Deliverance from fear. Because the Scripture goes on to say in the next verse he says, fear not. God says, fear not, for I am your shield and your exceeding great reward. So the third supernatural benefit of Holy Communion is deliverance from fear. What are you afraid of today? You can be free, he says. Fear not. So the body and blood of Jesus has the power to drive fear out of your life. Whatever it is, fear of what people think of you, fear of failure, fear of judgment, fear of snakes, or any fear you have fear of what's going to happen in this world. Fear of what's going to happen in your children's lives, your grandchildren's lives. God delivers us from this fear by activating the body and blood of Jesus through Holy Communion.

You know what happens next. As the verse says, supernatural protection comes when you take communion. God says, I will be your shield. He said, I'm your shield. And a shield represents two things. Now a shield represents protection and it represents favor. So the favor of God is going to manifest in your life. Get ready for a tidal wave of God's favor and the protection of God. Get ready for a tidal wave of God's protection in your life through taking Holy Communion.

You know what happens next in this passage? We're just reading through the Scripture. Then he says, I am your exceeding great reward. I like what the Amplified Version says. There. He says, I am your abundant compensation. I'm your exceeding great reward, and I'm your abundant compensation. What does that tell us? It tells us that the next benefit and supernatural power of Holy Communion is that God will provide for us. It's divine provision.

Now, listen, I want you to get ready because here's one of my favorites right here later in chapter 18 of Genesis. Remember, at this point in Genesis 18, Abraham and Sarah have not been able to conceive a child, and they've been believing for years. God promised years ago, is there something God's promised in your life, a promise from Scripture that you've been waiting on for years and it hasn't shown up? Is there some need for God's power to show up in your life? Today? I want you to see what happened when Abraham and Sarah could not conceive a child. The Bible says that three men came and approached Abraham and Abraham when he saw these three men. It says he shed the blood of an animal, and he served them meat from that animal. And he served them bread. And the Lord says to him in Genesis 18:14, because they just took communion, Abraham takes communion with these three men. Who are these three men? You know who they are. I'll tell you in a second. But you already know, he says. Is anything too difficult for me? God says, is anything too difficult for the Lord? Sarah was laughing. Oh no way, we're going to have a child, he said. Hey, is anything too difficult for the Lord? So whatever you're going through right now, it's not too difficult for God. It's not too difficult for you because you got God. You have his body and you have his blood. And so as he shares communion, Abraham shares communion with these three men. Who are these three men? Father, son, and Holy Spirit? It's got to be. It's got to be and has he shares communion with them because, you know, when you're taking communion, you're taking communion with the father, son, and Holy Spirit. God speaks to Abraham when he shares community, says nothing is too difficult for the Lord. Maybe you have a difficult problem that a doctor can't solve. Maybe you have a difficult problem that a lawyer can't solve. Maybe you have a difficult problem that you can't solve. But is there anything too difficult for the Lord? So as we take communion, there is a release of God's power to turn a difficult situation around, to turn an impossible situation and make it possible. The God of miracles, the life of miracles happens through the power of Jesus body and blood activated through this transfer of power, through this point of contact in the Body and Blood of Jesus through Holy Communion. And I believe if this could happen for Abraham, it could happen for you. The Bible says, if we belong to Christ, we also are Abraham's offspring, and we are heirs of the same promises.

So what are we going to do right now? We're going to take communion. So I want you to get some bread and I want to pray with you. I'll lead you in this prayer. I want you to take the bread in your hand. Here's we're going to do together. I'm going to lead you in this simple prayer of Holy Communion. Take the bread and pray this with me. Pray this out loud. Jesus, you said to remember you as I take communion today. You said, come on, pray that with me. You said, this bread is your body and this cup is your blood. I fellowship with you. I commune with you. I receive the great exchange with you when I eat this bread. Come on, pray that when I eat this bread, I'm eating your body. I'm experiencing your life, your grace. You're healing in me in Jesus name.

Now let's take the the body of Christ. I want you to get ready. Take this cup. We're having intimacy with Jesus right now. This is his body. This is a blood. He said, if you want a part of me, you got to eat my. Eat my flesh, drink my blood. That's what we're doing right here. And I want you to know, when this goes in your mouth, it turns into the miraculous blood of Jesus, the body of Jesus, the presence of God in the Old Testament, it was called the bread of his presence. God's presence is mingling with you right now and in your situation. I want you to pray this out loud. Jesus. Come on, pray this with me. Jesus, this cup of your blood is the cup of blessing. It reminds me I am forgiven. It causes me to be one with you. It redeems me from the curse of the law, from the curse of sickness, from the curse of bitterness. Say this. It delivers me from the curse of poverty, the curse of fear, the curse of mental illness. It delivers me from family curses. I activate the power of your blessing in Jesus name. I activate the anointing of Jesus that removes every burden. Say that I activate the anointing of Jesus, that removes every burden and destroys every yoke. It delivers me from all demonic forces, and it releases me into my true destiny and my oneness with you. This is releasing you into your true destiny, your true purpose, and your true oneness with Jesus. Let's drink the cup.

Now we just activate healing breakthroughs, miracles in the name of Jesus. Healing your heart, healing your emotions, healing your mind. Mental illnesses being healed. Bodies are being healed. Families are being healed. Your heart's being healed. Your emotions are being healed. There's breakthrough. There's power. There's increase. There's an interruption of the devil's plan for your life. An interruption to the curses of sickness, fear and worry. Anxiety. It's interruptions right now. The Lord Jesus Christ is enforcing his victory through his finished work on the cross into your life in Jesus name, Amen. Woohoo!
