[music] It took eight months to get these. Of course, it plays Doom. But I mean, anything plays Doom. You can play Doom on a pregnancy test. In gaming, that's the least impressive thing this device can do.
This is the U console by Clockwork. It's a fully functioning Linux computer that combines capabilities you'd normally need a backpack full of gear to achieve. But this one is getting upgraded with two pieces of hardware that are almost impossible to get right now.
First, the Multibboard by Hacker Gadgets. This adds RTL SDR capabilities, Laura for long-range communications, GPS, and upgraded Wi-Fi. Second, the Raspberry Pi CM5, the most powerful compute module ever made. Basically, we're going to have a U console that's also an ESP32 Marauder with GPS that's also a T deck with Laura and a Hack RF.
This video has been 8 months in the process, but today we're going to unbox it. We're going to build it. We're going to hack it. We're going to flash it. We're going to get this entire thing ready to be the most powerful hacking device I have. All right, so let's get at it.
This is the U console by Clockwork. I went with the silver on this build. I think I love that retro like '80s vibe for the silver. We have the keyboard over here. And then we have the keyboard PCB. Grab those. Of course, we have the screen, which I'm going to try. Luckily, we have this nice film on here. There are screen protectors for these. Not a bad idea.
Inside, we have the metal case. Everything in this is pretty much aluminum, so this thing is a tank. [music] We have a little thermal pad for our Raspberry Pi CM5 upgrade. Then, of course, we have our kickstand. This thing's super useful. Back plate here. Again, all aluminum. This is the antenna that comes with this. This antenna sucks. I'm sorry, you guys. This antenna is terrible, but there's a great antenna mod for anybody who has a 3D printer. So, we're just going to get rid of this guy. Then we have our small [music] parts which let's just go ahead and pull this out so we can give ourselves some space to work here.
So let's go ahead and mount up our [music] screen. That cable goes through here. Be super nice to it. Pop on the keyboard mounts in here. And then the actual keyboard. Then let's load up the track ball which fits [music] right in here. Now we're just going to place that in place. Making sure that tab right there, little silver guy, goes either up or down. Then we can pop on our front cover. And all we have to do is screw this thing together with some of the screws. Now, they do give you an Allen wrench right there, but I'm not going to use it. I've got my own. But oh, I forgot the tip. Hold on one second.

>> All right, time to pop in some screws. Flip the sucker over. And then we're going to install the power button, which is right here. Pop the board on. Screw that down. Then pop the little connector on. Flip that up. Snap this [music] in down. Awesome.
Now under here we have our Raspberry 5 CM4, but we're not going to use that. This is the adapter board for the CM4. Luckily, the CM4 and the CM5 share the same interface, [music] so we don't actually have to worry about that at all. So, we're going ahead and plug this in here. Give it a little shove in there. And it's got little springs. Perfect. Just got to make sure there's little clips hold it in, and you're good to go. Go ahead and pop on our CM5. And then you just kind of got to give it a click. Super scary popping this thing on. But yep, in there. And we are on. Perfect.
Unpack our little speakers here. And they go into the little holes right there. It doesn't really matter the orientation. Speakers in check. Now we're going to mount up the hacker board right here. This part's super fun. So it sits right there. Literally couldn't be easier. Pop those right in. [music] All right. Now we've got USBC and a USB on the side. Hell yeah. Double USB. And then we [music] have our antennas right there. Now, it is supposed to come with a side cover, which I seem to be missing, but we're not going to worry too much about that. Let's just screw this down.

All right, let's get back at it. Now, we go ahead and pop on the battery board. This guy you kind of got to jam in there. It's a little finicky because it's got a weird connector, but if you don't get that in there kind of hard and you're going to have connectivity issues. That should do it. Obviously, we need some batteries. Plus [music] goes this way. Pull the protective layers off of our thermal compound that I'm dropping. That's okay. We don't [music] need that. Pop that right down there.
I can move this over and hook up our antennas. So, this here is the antenna board, and it kind of just squishes in the top of this guy. Super simple. It's a really, really good design. Let's start popping our wires in. I hate these connectors. They're so hard to connect for me, but we'll get them working. And then for the further away ones, we have longer wires. All these are going to route through that little hole right there. All right, got them snake through there. And just got to start plugging these guys in one by one. No problem. Cool.
And now all we do is install the back panel. All right, here we go. They were actually nice enough to supply a couple slightly longer screws for that because it kind of just sandwiches between the boards. See if we can get that in. We go. Longer screw number two. And now we secure the kickstand. Brilliant. Look at how pretty she is. Oh, it's so awesome.
So now the question is antennas. Which antennas did we go for if we flip it over? So I forgot to buy the one with the antenna kit. So, I'm going to actually steal some from my Just Call Me Coco's BFFB because we know these will work just as great. So, first of all, we have our GPS antenna. Big chunker. I know that goes here. Then we need a Wi-Fi antenna. Set that up here. Brilliant. [music] Laura. And then I went with this antenna from Great Scott Gadgets. It's an SDR antenna and I love the form factor. I love how short it is. So, that's going to be perfect for our SDR. There we have it. A U console. All we have to do now is make some sort of operating system for it.
So, I went ahead and grabbed this SD card. It's a 256 gig SD card, which is the maximum for these guys. And let's hop over to the desktop. Get it flashed. All right. So, here we are down at the desktop. We're going to go ahead and use Balena Etcher. If you've never used this tool before, it is absolutely fantastic for burning images for [music] Raspberry Pi projects. So, we're going to flash some file. Going to go to our desktop. And we've got a Dragon OS install for this, which is going to be perfect. Dragon [music] OS is custom made for SDRs. So, this is going to be absolutely perfect. Caution, large drive, but we know this is a uh SD card, so that's cool. Go ahead and just click flash. It does take a decent amount of time, but you know, be patient. We'll get there.

Got to give it a little love with the tool. There we go. That's clipped in. Press the top button. And with any luck, we'll get a screen to turn on. Hello. Oh, here it is. I'm so excited.
Now, with any Raspberry Pi install, it's going to take a little while the first time you load it up. It's expanding the volume and doing all sorts of good stuff. But give it some time to configure and then run through all the steps and it should be pretty darn easy. And yes, I know I didn't take the screen protector off. It's fine. I don't have an actual screen protector for this yet. So, I'm going to wait until I get that before I start peeling anything off. I know what I'm doing. I'm a professional, I think.
And here we are with Ubuntu. So, you may ask why Dragon OS? Well, very specifically because this OS is designed specifically [music] for software-defined radios. So, this is really exactly what we want for this type of setup. So, let's start off with SDR++. Now, the trackball is a little janky. I've heard that there are upgrades for it, but it is good enough for what we're doing right now. God, I'm so excited. I've been waiting for this for so long. So, we're going to change our source over here to RTL SDR. And then let's turn our gain up just a little bit. We don't got to go nuts, but see if this works. It's actually working. That is so freaking cool. Let's see if we can find an actual FM broadcast here. Oh yeah, look at that. Now we have working SDR.
Having a handheld computer like this is so nice. It's got a full keyboard. Everything works really well. Obviously, you have GPS, an external Wi-Fi antenna, your Laura device right there, and then SDR antenna. This thing could not be more capable out in the field. So, let me actually show you my other one and see all the stuff I've got already set up cuz this is a brand new install. The other one's got way more stuff on it.
All right, so I knew the other device was going to be for work. This one's for fun. This is pretty much set up as a gaming device with a few other bells and whistles. But if you've never seen RetroArch before, it is a full-on ROM player. So, if you have all of your legally acquired ROMs, you can see we have just tons and tons and tons of games. Could not be more fun. Let's load a game up just for fun. And we've got the classic '90s cartoon, Bonkers. But today, we have it in video game form. I mean, come on. How much fun is this? I actually haven't mapped these keys right yet, so it's a little awkward, but we can still play the game. Still pretty fun.
Let's hop out of this and let's see what else we have. So, let's go into, of course, one of my favorite things to do with this is to run ScummVM. So, I love me some Lucas Arts adventure games. They're some of my favorite games in the [music] world, and we can play them really, really well. Point and click for this is just like chef's kiss. I mean, look at how well this runs. This is so fun. This literally could not be a better device for this. And then just for good measure, we do have a bunch of other fun stuff in there. Of course, we have the shareware version of Duke Nukem. And you can tell it's it's a little hard to use for this amount of movement. So, hey, mouse and keyboard would kind of work, but it's a good enough game.
And there's one other really, really fun thing you can actually do with this. I've gone ahead and installed QFlipper. So, we go to education, cuz Flipper is a learning tool. And we can open up QFlipper. So, we go ahead and grab our Flipper Zero. Right now, we're just scanning frequencies. Plug that in. And then we have our Flipper Zero right up on the screen here. It's super cool. And you can actually control it with the buttons, too, if you really wanted to. So, we can go out of here and open up anything that you want. It's really, really cool. But, I like the frequency analyzer. It's already picking things up. What you can also do, which is really quite useful cuz again, this thing is just easy to carry around with you. If you want to, you can load up the official Flipper Zero store and you can go ahead and just install applications directly from this. So, if we click connect down here, going to see my Flipper. Click there, click connect, and then I can update. I can download applications cuz remember this is the official place to download Flipper apps legally. So, we can go through and yeah, we could download a TPMS reader. Flipper HTTP is an absolutely great project. And in fact, if you don't have the Flipper Zero mouse jiggler, it's a really really good application that makes your computer not think that you are not there. Super super useful.
I love this thing that really just scratches the surface of what you can do with a device like this because again, it is a fully functioning Linux computer. And with the expansion board on the other one, the world is your oyster. So these are U console by Clockwork. They are some of the most capable little devices. They're super super well-built and if you can get your hands on them, I absolutely guarantee you will fall in love with them. So, which feature was your favorite?
