The darkest part of the night is the hour right before the sun comes up. And the hardest part of any journey with God is almost always the stretch right before the breakthrough. That is not a coincidence. That is a pattern woven all through scripture and all through the lives of the chosen. And once you see it, you will never read your struggle the same way again. Because if the enemy cannot stop your breakthrough, he will do the next best thing. He will try to get you to quit right before you reach it. He will make the last mile feel like the whole marathon. He will compress all the discouragement he has left into the shortest possible distance, hoping the sheer intensity of it convinces you the end must be much farther than it is. He will pile on the exhaustion, the doubt, the delay, all in the final stretch, betting that you will lay it down one step before the finish line. I'm here to make sure that does not happen to you.
So today, I'm going to show you the seven signs that you are almost at your breakthrough, not far from it, almost there. And I want you to count how many of these you are living through right now because the number is going to tell you something you have needed to hear for a long time. Stay with me all the way to the seventh because the seventh is the clearest sign of all that your breakthrough is closer than you think. The first sign you are almost at your breakthrough is that the attack has intensified, not eased. Intensified right when you expected relief. Things did not get calmer as you got closer. They got louder. The opposition sharpened. The problems multiplied. And the very thing you have been praying about seems to be under the heaviest fire it has ever faced. And your mind tells you this means you are losing. But understand the logic of the unseen. A thief does not break into an empty house. He breaks into the one he believes holds something worth taking. The very intensity of what is coming against you is a testimony to the value of what you carry and what you are about to step into. The intensity of the resistance is a measurement of the value of what you are about to receive. When the enemy throws everything he has left at you, it is not because he is winning. It is because he is running out of time. He can see what you cannot see yet. That you are almost there. And this is his last desperate attempt to make you stop before you cross the line. The intensified attack is not the sign of your defeat. It is the sign of his panic. Think about the Israelites at the Red Sea. They had already left Egypt. They were already free. And then they looked back and saw Pharaoh's entire army thundering toward them, more terrifying than anything they faced in slavery. At the very moment of their deliverance, the attack looked its worst, and they panicked, certain they were about to die. But that army was charging straight into its own destruction. Because minutes later, the sea that opened for Israel closed over Egypt. The last fiercest charge of the enemy was not the end of God's people. It was the end of what had been chasing them.
The second sign is that you feel more exhausted than you have ever felt. Not just tired, emptied, like you have been running on nothing for longer than you can remember and there is not much left in the tank. And you wonder how you can possibly be this drained if your breakthrough is supposed to be near. But this is exactly what the final stretch feels like. A runner is never more exhausted than in the last 100 m of a race when everything in the body is screaming to stop precisely because the finish is right there. The depletion you feel is not proof that you are far from the end. It is very often the opposite. You do not run out of strength at the beginning of a journey. You run out near the end when you have already spent almost all of it getting this far. It is often proof that you are nearly at it, that you have poured out almost everything, which means there is almost nothing left to give because you are almost done giving it. The exhaustion is not the beginning of the fight. It is the end of it. And there is mercy in understanding this because when you believe your exhaustion means you are failing, it doubles the weight. You are not only tired, you are ashamed of being tired. But when you understand that the depletion is the mark of the final stretch, something shifts. You stop condemning yourself for running low and you realize you are running low because you have almost finished the race.
But there is a third sign and it goes to a place deeper than the attack and deeper than the exhaustion because it touches your ability to hope at all. The third sign is that you have almost given up hope and part of you has quietly made peace with it never happening. This is one of the shest signs of all and one of the most painful. You used to believe with fire. You used to pray with expectation. You could see it so clearly. And now after all the waiting, all the delays, all the times it looked like it was about to happen and did not, you have gone quiet. You have started to protect yourself from disappointment by no longer hoping too loudly. You tell yourself it is fine if it never comes. Even though it is not fine at all, here is what you need to understand. God very often waits until you have reached the end of your own strength before he moves because he wants there to be no confusion about who did it. When Abraham and Sarah were promised a child, God waited until it was biologically impossible. Until Sarah laughed at the very idea, until every ounce of human hope was gone, and then he did it. Why? So no one could ever say they had done it themselves. If your hope has run out, you may be standing at the exact spot where God does his best work. The place where it can only be him. Look at Lazarus. Jesus deliberately waited until Lazarus was not just sick, not just dying, but dead and buried 4 days past every human hope before he showed up. Martha basically told him he was too late. And that was exactly the point. God is not intimidated by impossible. He is drawn to it because impossible is the only stage on which a miracle cannot be mistaken for a coincidence. And I know how heavy this particular season is because when hope goes quiet, the mind gets loud and it becomes almost impossible to tell the voice of God from the voice of your own fear and the voice of the enemy. Now, let's keep going because the fourth sign is one that will surprise you. The fourth sign is that old things are falling away and you cannot hold on to them anymore. Relationships, habits, situations, even parts of your own identity that you carried for years are suddenly loosening their grip or being stripped away entirely. And it can feel like loss, like your life is coming apart. But look closer. A breakthrough is not just about what God brings in. It is also about what he clears out to make room for it. You cannot step into a new season carrying everything from the old one. The caterpillar cannot fly with the body it had on the ground. Everything it was has to dissolve almost completely before it can become what it was made to be. And from the inside, that process must feel like the end of everything. But it is not death. It is transformation that only looks like death from within. The things falling away from your life right now may not be your life falling apart. They may be the old version of you being released so the new one can emerge. What looks like everything ending may actually be everything being made ready. Do not fight to keep what God is intentionally removing. Sometimes we exhaust ourselves trying to hold together the very things he is trying to release from our hands. and we mistake his pruning for punishment. A gardener does not cut back a vine because he hates it. He cuts it back because he knows what it can become if the dead weight is removed. The fifth sign is that you are being forced to trust God in a way you never had to before. You have run out of backup plans. The options you were quietly holding in reserve are gone and you are left with a choice you cannot avoid any longer. Trust him completely or fall apart. There is no middle ground left, no safety net, no plan B to soften the landing. This is not cruelty. This is preparation. God is bringing you to the end of your own resources on purpose because the breakthrough he is about to give you requires a level of dependence on him that comfort could never have produced. He is not interested in giving you something that will make you forget him the moment you receive it. He is producing in you a person who will still know how to lean on him even after the breakthrough comes. He is not abandoning you at the edge. He is teaching you in the last stretch that he has been the ground under your feet the entire time. There is a specific kind of trust that can only be learned when there is nothing left to trust in but God. As long as you had a backup, part of your faith was quietly resting on the backup. God is removing every other foundation. Not to leave you standing on nothing, but to let you finally feel the one foundation that was always holding you, the one you could not sense while you were leaning on everything else. Now stay with me because the sixth sign is the one the enemy uses hardest and the seventh is the one that proves how close you truly are. The sixth sign is that the temptation to quit has never been stronger. Right here in the final stretch, the thought arrives with more force than ever. Just stop. Let it go. It is not worth it. You have tried long enough and it does not feel like the enemy. It feels reasonable. It feels like wisdom. It feels like the sensible thing to finally accept. But think about the timing of it. Why would the urge to quit hit hardest now after you have already endured so much? Because the enemy is not trying to stop you from starting. You already started. He is trying to stop you from finishing. The temptation to quit is strongest right before the breakthrough for one reason. Because quitting now costs you the most. He is not fighting your past. He is fighting the future that is one step away. If the pressure to give up has never been heavier, it is because you have never been closer. Recognize the voice for what it is. It dresses itself up as logic, as maturity, as finally being realistic. But look at its fruit. God's voice, even when it corrects, leads you toward life and hope. This voice leads you toward surrender of everything you believed God for. That is not wisdom. That is the last move of something that is out of other options. And it always comes loudest right at the threshold. And this is exactly why you cannot walk this final stretch alone. Because a person who is isolated in this moment is a person who quits. You need people who will remind you what God said when your own voice fails. Who understand what it is to be this close and this tired at the same time. You have been attacked, exhausted, drained of hope, stripped of what you leaned on, forced to trust, and tempted with everything to quit. By every reasonable measure, you should have walked away already. And yet here you are still standing, still praying, even when the prayers feel thin, still watching a message like this one, still reaching for a god you have not always been able to feel. Think about how many chances you have had to walk away. How many nights it would have been easier to just let it all go and yet something in you would not release it. That endurance is not an accident and it is not your willpower. No one holds on this long on their own. The fact that you are still standing, still believing even a little after everything that has come against you is the evidence that God himself has been holding you up. And here is the truth that changes everything. God does not carry a person all the way through the hardest part of the journey just to abandon them one step from the destination. He does not sustain you through six miles of fire to drop you in the seventh. That is not the character of the God you serve. He finishes what he starts. The scripture promises that the one who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. He is not a God who abandons his work unfinished and you are his work. Your endurance is prophetic. The very fact that you have not quit is God's way of telling you that there is something worth not quitting for. and that it is near. He would not still be holding you here if the finish were not close. You do not sustain what you are about to discard. The God who has kept you this far has already decided how your story ends. And it does not end here, exhausted, one step short. It ends in the breakthrough you have been holding on for. Consider Joseph one more time sitting in a prison cell, forgotten by the man he had helped with no reason left to believe his dreams were anything but cruel jokes. He had been betrayed, enslaved, falsely accused and abandoned. And he was one conversation away from becoming the second most powerful man in the world. He did not know it. On his hardest morning in that cell, his breakthrough was closer than it had ever been. Yours may be too. So do not lay it down now. Not now. Not this close. Think of how much it would cost to quit one step from the very thing you gave years to believe for. The people who miss their breakthrough almost never miss it at the start. They miss it at the end when they were closer than they ever knew. You have survived the very things that were designed to make you quit. Which means the only thing left to do is refuse to. Everything the enemy sent to break you has already been thrown and you are still standing. He has run out of new weapons. All he has left is to convince you to put yourself down because he cannot hold the line a little longer. The morning always comes after the darkest hour and you have already made it through the dark.
