Jesus himself said, "Not everyone who says, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven."

Number one: The comfort zone will kill you.
Listen, you want to know what will send more people to hell than drugs, than murder, than adultery? Comfort. Spiritual comfort—the deadly lie that you're fine just the way you are. You go to church sometimes. You believe in God. You're not a bad person. You think that's enough. And that comfort, that casual approach to your soul, is the trap that will kill you forever.
[music] Here's what nobody wants to hear: Jesus didn't die so you could live comfortably. He died so you could die. Die to yourself. Die [music] to your plans. Die to your casual, lukewarm, good enough religion.
But you've made peace with mediocrity. You've settled into a version of Christianity that costs you nothing. It doesn't interrupt your weekend. It doesn't change your habits. It doesn't threaten your lifestyle. And you think that's faith. That's not faith. That's a funeral.
Because comfortable Christians don't make it. Jesus said it himself: Lukewarm believers get spit out, not gently set aside, violently rejected. Because God doesn't want your leftovers. He doesn't want the parts of your life you're willing to share. He wants everything, or he wants nothing.
You say you'll get serious later. You say you'll surrender when things calm down. You say you'll really follow him after you finish this season, this relationship, this goal, but later never comes. And one day you'll stand before him and realize your whole life was a delay tactic.
The comfort zone is not a safe place. It's a holding cell. It's the wide road that feels smooth under your feet while it leads you straight into flames. And the worst part: you won't see it coming because comfortable people don't feel the danger until it's too late.
So ask yourself right now: Is your faith costing you anything? [music] Is it disrupting anything? Is it changing anything? Because if the answer is no, you're not following Jesus. You're just following a routine straight into hell.

Now, here's warning sign number two, and this one reveals whether you're spiritually alive or already dead inside.
Number two: When you stop feeling guilty.
Here's a terrifying question: When was the last time you felt genuinely convicted about your sin? Not embarrassed because you got caught? Not guilty because someone found out?
[music] Convicted, broken before God, crushed by the weight of what you've done against a holy God. If you can't remember, you're [music] in danger.
Because conviction is the heartbeat of a living soul. When you stop feeling it, you haven't arrived at maturity. You flatline spiritually. You used to cry when you sinned. You used to feel the sting. You used to hate yourself for going back to the same garbage over and over, but now nothing.
You scroll past things that should wreck you. You say things that should horrify you. You do things in private that should bring you to your knees. [music] And you feel absolutely nothing.
That numbness isn't growth. It's not freedom. It's not grace making you secure. It's your conscience dying. And a dead conscience is a sure sign of a dead soul.
Listen, the Holy Spirit convicts. That's what he does. He doesn't condemn you into paralysis, but he doesn't let you stay comfortable in filth either. He disrupts you. He bothers you. He won't let you rest until you repent.
So, if you're resting easy in sin, if you can watch poison and consume trash and live in rebellion without feeling a thing, the spirit may not be in you at all. You've made peace with what should be at war with your soul. You've normalized what God calls an abomination. You've explained away what should drive you to confession. And worst of all, you think that silence in your spirit is proof you're fine.
But silence isn't peace. It's death. Because live hearts feel. Live souls grieve over sin. Live believers fight against the very things you're cuddling up to every single night.
Hebrews says, "If we deliberately keep on sinning after knowing the truth, no sacrifice is left, just judgment, just fire, just terror."
So if you feel nothing when you sin, don't celebrate your calm. Mourn your coldness. Because that numbness isn't maturity. It's the beginning of damnation. And if you don't wake up now, you'll wake up in hell wondering why nobody told you the truth.
Number three: Calling him Lord, ignoring his orders.
You call him Lord. You sing about him. You quote him. You wear the shirt. You have the bumper sticker. But do you obey him? Because that's the only question that matters on judgment day.
Jesus asked it himself: "Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and not do what I say?" Not why don't you attend church? Not why don't you know the Bible? Why do you call me boss and then ignore every command I give you?
Because knowing about Jesus doesn't save you. Believing facts about him doesn't save you. Even loving the idea of him doesn't save you. Obedience is the proof. And without it, you're just religious, not redeemed.
[music] Here's where it gets real. You know what he said? Forgive. You don't. Be pure. You're not. Love your enemies. You hold grudges like trophies. Deny yourself. You live for yourself every single day. So, who's really in charge? Him or you?
You can't call someone Lord and then live like you're the one making the rules. Lordship doesn't work that way. Either he runs your life or he doesn't. Either you submit when it's hard or you were never submitted at all.
Partial obedience is full rebellion. You don't get credit for following Jesus on Sundays if you live for hell Monday through Saturday. You don't get heaven because you cried at a camp once if your life never actually changed direction.
And listen, this isn't about perfection. Nobody's asking you to be flawless. But there's a difference between falling down and setting up camp. There's a difference between struggling with sin and celebrating it. A real believer fights. They stumble, yes, but they get back up swinging. They hate what they used to love. They war against what used to own them.
But you, you've made peace. You've drawn lines around the parts of your life Jesus isn't allowed to touch: Your money, your relationship, [music] your entertainment, your pride. And you think you can keep those and still keep him. You can't.
On that final day, he's not asking if you knew him. He's asking if you obeyed him. And if the answer is no, all the church attendance in the world won't save you from hearing those words: "Depart from me. I never knew you."
Number four: No change, no salvation.
Let me ask you something that might sting. What has actually changed in your life since you met Jesus? Not what you say changed, not what you hope changed. What evidence is there that you've been transformed?
Because Jesus was clear: "Every tree that doesn't bear good fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire," not pruned, not given [music] more time. Cut down, burned, gone.
And the fruit he's talking about isn't your job title. It's not your income. It's not how many people follow you or like you. It's love. It's purity. It's patience. It's kindness. It's self-control. It's holiness. It's a life that looks less like the world and more like Christ.
So look at your life honestly. If someone followed you around for a week, would they see Jesus? Or would they see the same anger, the same bitterness, the same gossip, the same lust, the same selfish ambition they see in everyone else?
You can say you're a Christian all day long. You can have the label. You can have the history. You can have the emotional moments. But if there's no fruit, there's no root. [music] And trees without roots don't just struggle, they die.
Here's what's terrifying: You can be busy in church and barren in spirit. You can serve on teams and still be spiritually dead. You can know all the right words and have none of the right fruit. Because activity is not the same as life.
Real salvation leaves evidence. You don't stay the same when the Holy Spirit moves in. You can't be connected to the vine and produce nothing. It's impossible. A branch attached to Jesus will bear fruit. It might take time. It might grow slow, but it will show.
So, if you've been saved for 5 years and you're still the same person, still controlled by the same sins, still driven by the same selfishness, be honest with yourself. [music] You may have had a moment. You may have had an emotion, but you may not have had a transformation. And fruitless faith is fake faith.
[music] You're not saved because of the fruit. But if you're saved, there will be fruit. No exceptions, no excuses. Because Jesus himself said, "You will know them by their fruit." And if there's no fruit, the axe is already at the root of the tree.
Number five: You love the world more than God.
[music] You can't love God and be in love with this world at the same time. First John makes it brutally clear: "If you love the world, the love of the father is not in you." Not weakened, not divided, not there.
So let's get honest. What do you actually love? Because it's not what you say on Sunday. It's what you chase on Monday. It's what you think about when nobody's watching. It's what you can't stop scrolling for. It's what you'd be devastated to lose.
You know more about celebrities than scripture. You're more passionate about your career than your calling. You spend more time planning vacations than you spend in prayer. You chase likes and follows and validation from strangers like it's oxygen. And you wonder why you feel spiritually empty.
Because your heart is married to what's dying. You're chasing what won't last. You're building your life on what's already burning. And Jesus is standing there saying, "You cannot serve two masters. One will always win."
Here's the test: If God asked you to walk away from it, could you? If following Jesus cost you your platform, your reputation, your relationship, your comfort, would you obey? Or would you negotiate? Would you make excuses? Would you find a way to keep both?
Because that's the issue. You want heaven and earth. You want Jesus in the world. You want salvation and your old life. But it doesn't work that way.
[music] The more you love this world, the less room there is for God. The more you blend in here, the less you'll [music] belong there.
And listen, loving the world isn't just about doing bad things. It's about where your treasure is. It's about what makes your heart race. It's about what you're willing to sacrifice for. And if you're sacrificing eternal things for temporary highs, you've already made your choice.
This world is vapor. It's smoke. It's gone before you blink. The fame fades. The money runs out. The beauty dies. The applause stops. And if that's what you lived for, you wasted everything.
So, what do you love most? [music] Because hell will be full of people who chose what feels good now over what lasts forever. Don't be one of them.
If you're still here, you're already in the top percentage of believers who actually care enough about their soul to examine it. Most people would have clicked away by now. Most people don't want this level of truth. But you're still watching. That says something about the condition of your heart.
But don't stop now. The next five warning signs are where most Christians get exposed. You might have passed the first five, but warning sign number six reveals something most people are completely blind to. Miss this one, and you could be walking straight into judgment without even knowing it.
Here's the sixth warning sign, and it's one of the most overlooked dangers in the modern church.
Number six: [music] You hate being corrected.
Here's a heart check that'll tell you everything you need to know. How do you respond when someone corrects you? When scripture steps on your toes? When a sermon confronts your sin? When someone who loves you tells you the truth you don't want to hear?
Because Proverbs is clear: "The one who hates correction will die." Not might die. Will die. And it's not talking about physical death. It's talking about eternal death. Hell is full of people who refuse to be corrected.
You say, "Don't judge me." You say, "Only God can correct me." You say, "This is just who I am." But the moment you shut down correction, you shut down conviction. And when conviction stops, your heart hardens until you can't even recognize danger anymore.
Real believers crave correction. They know they're blind to their own faults. They know their hearts are deceptive. They know they need outside voices speaking truth, even when it hurts, especially when it hurts. Because correction isn't an attack. It's mercy. It's God screaming from heaven, "Turn around before you drive off the cliff!"
But you block everyone who challenges you. You leave churches that preach hard truth. You unfollow people who make you uncomfortable. You surround yourself with voices that only affirm you, never confront you. And you think that's healthy boundaries. That's not boundaries. That's building an echo chamber straight into hell.
Listen, if you've never been convicted by a sermon, never been confronted by a friend, never felt the sting of godly rebuke, that's not a sign you're doing great. It's a sign you might be spiritually dead. Because the Lord disciplines those he loves. If you're never disciplined, never corrected, never challenged, you may not be his child at all.
Repentance isn't a one-time event. It's a daily posture. It's waking up and saying, "God, break me. Change me. Show me where I'm wrong. Kill what needs to die in me." But you can't pray that prayer if you're running from every voice that tries to answer it.
[music] So, when was the last time you truly repented? Not just said sorry, not just felt bad—repented, changed direction, let go of pride, chose obedience over comfort. Because if you keep rejecting correction, you're not just being stubborn, you're refusing the very thing that could save your soul. And one day, it'll be too late to listen.
Number seven: The gospel you follow is fake.
This might be the most dangerous warning of all because you can be passionate, committed, faithful to a message and still end up in hell if the message itself is wrong.
[music] False gospels don't sound false. They sound good. They sound encouraging. They sound like exactly what you want to hear.
The real gospel is offensive. It says you're a sinner. It says you deserve hell. It says you can't save yourself. It demands repentance. It calls for death to self. It promises persecution. It divides families. It costs everything.
[music] That gospel saves. But the gospel you're hearing, it tells you you're basically good. It says God just wants you happy. It promises health and wealth and comfort. It never mentions sin. It never talks about hell. It never demands holiness. It makes you feel special without making you different. And it sounds so much better than the truth.
So you follow teachers who tickle your ears. Preachers who never make you uncomfortable. [music] Messages that affirm your lifestyle instead of confronting it. And you think that's grace. That's not grace. That's deception wrapped in a smile.
Paul said it with zero hesitation: "If anyone preaches another gospel, even an angel from heaven, let him be accursed." He didn't say be cautious around them. He said they're cursed. Because false teaching doesn't just mislead you, it damns you.
[music] Ask yourself right now: Does the teaching you follow point you to the cross? Does it call you to die to yourself? Does it demand repentance and holiness? Or does it point you to your dreams, your potential, your best life now? Because one leads to Jesus, the other leads to hell with a soundtrack that makes you feel good the whole way down.
Your pastor matters. Your influencers matter. The voices you let shape your theology matter because if they're feeding you a different gospel, you're not just getting bad advice. You're drinking poison and calling it wine.
Test everything against scripture, not against what feels right, [music] not against what's popular, against the word of God. Because on judgment day, false teachers will stand before Jesus and hear, "I never knew you." And everyone who followed them will hear the same thing.
So [music] stop choosing comfort over truth. Stop picking preachers who make you feel good instead of preachers who make you godly [music] because a false gospel will comfort you all the way to hell. And when you get there, all those encouraging messages won't mean a thing. The truth you avoided will be the truth that condemns you.
Number eight: You never really gave him control.
You prayed a prayer. You walked an aisle. You raised your hand at camp. You got baptized. You did all the right religious things. But did you ever actually surrender? Did you ever give Jesus control? Or did you just add him to your life without letting him run it?
Because Jesus doesn't want a moment. He wants ownership. He doesn't want part of you. He wants all of you: Every dream, every plan, every relationship, every secret, every ambition.
He said it clearly: "If anyone wants to follow me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me." That's not casual. That's not convenient. That's death. Death of your will. Death of your control. Death of the version of you that wants to stay in charge.
And most people never do it. They make a decision without making a surrender. So ask yourself honestly, when you said yes to Jesus, what did you actually give him? A Sunday morning slot? A religious identity? Fire insurance for eternity? Or your whole life: your money, your future, your body, your pride, your plans?
Real surrender costs something visible. It changes something immediately. You can't surrender to Christ and keep living the exact same way. You can't call him Lord and then refuse to let him touch your bank account, your dating life, your career, your entertainment. That's not surrender.
[music] That's negotiation. And here's the thing: You're walking around thinking you're saved because of a moment 10 years ago. But if that moment didn't lead to a lifestyle of dying daily, it wasn't real.
Surrender isn't a one-time event. It's a daily posture. It's waking up and saying, "Not my will, but yours," again and again and again. If you've never practiced that, if you've never let Jesus rearrange your priorities, interrupt your plans, or cost you something you love, you may have made a decision, but you never joined his kingdom. You're still on the throne, and you can't have two kings.
So do this now. Stop pretending. Stop assuming that emotional moment years ago is proof you're his. Fall before him in truth. Give him the parts you've been hiding, the areas you've been protecting, the control you've been hoarding because a decided heart without surrender is still lost, and eternity is too long to gamble on a half commitment.
Number nine: You look alive, but you're dead.
Here's the most terrifying possibility of all: You look alive. You sound alive. Everyone around you thinks you're alive. But spiritually, you're already dead, and you don't even know it.
Revelation says it to a whole church: "You have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead." Not struggling, not weak—dead. And they had no idea. They had the routines. They had the programs. They had the appearance.
[music] But God saw through it all and called them corpses. You might be fooling your small group. You might be fooling your pastor. You might even be fooling yourself. But you cannot fool God.
He sees past the performance. He sees past the Sunday smile and the lifted hands and the right vocabulary. He sees your heart. And if it's dead, no amount of religious activity will hide it.
Because spiritual death doesn't always look like rebellion. Sometimes it looks like routine. You show up. You serve. You sing. But there's no fire, no [music] hunger, no intimacy with God, no conviction, no transformation—just motion, just habit, just performance.
You know how to sound spiritual. You know the language. You know when to say amen. You know how to pray in public. But in private, nothing. No prayer life. No desperation, no crying out to God, no wrestling, no worship—just silence. And that silence isn't peace, it's death.
Here's the warning: Dead people don't repent. Dead hearts don't cry out. Dead souls don't hunger. [music] And that's exactly where the enemy wants you: comfortable in your routine, numb to your condition, proud of your reputation, while your spirit rots from the inside out.
So, let me ask you directly: When was the last time you were wrecked by the presence of God? When was the last time you couldn't sleep because you were so hungry for him? When was the last time you wept in worship or trembled at his word?
If you can't remember, you're not in a safe place. You're in a grave with a good reputation. But here's the hope: Jesus raises the dead. He can breathe life into dry bones. He can restart flatlined hearts.
But you have to stop pretending first. You have to admit you're spiritually dead. You have to cry out for resurrection because looking alive won't save you on judgment day. Only being alive will. And if you're not alive now, eternity won't change that.
Number 10: I never knew you.
Let's end where we started [music] with the most sobering truth in all of scripture: "Not everyone who says, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven." Not everyone who looks saved will be saved. Not everyone who thinks they're going to heaven actually is.
Matthew 7 describes it: people coming to Jesus on that final day, confident, excited, ready to enter, and they'll say, "Didn't we prophesy in your name? Didn't we cast out demons? Didn't we do mighty works? Didn't we serve in ministry? Didn't we go to church our whole lives?"
And Jesus will look them in the eye and say words that will echo through eternity: "Depart from me. I never knew you." Not I stopped knowing you. Not you lost your salvation. I never knew you. You were never mine. You thought you were. Everyone thought you were, but you weren't.
That's not a story about atheists. That's not a warning for the obviously wicked. That's a prophecy about religious people, church people, people who used his name, people who did spiritual things, people who looked exactly like believers but never actually belonged to him.
So here's your final reality check: Do you truly know him—not know about him, know him? Is there intimacy? Is there relationship? Is there a real connection or just religious routine?
Because you can have all the Christian activities and miss the one thing that matters: Jesus himself. Have you surrendered your life or just attended services? Do you obey him or just admire him? Is there fruit or just foliage? Do you love him more than the world or are you trying to have both? Can you be corrected or do you resist every rebuke? Are you following the true gospel or a comfortable counterfeit?
These aren't minor questions. These are eternity questions. And assuming you're fine because you prayed once, because you go to church, because you're not as bad as other people, that assumption could cost you everything.
Hell will be full of shocked people. [music] People who genuinely believe they were saved. People who had Christian friends and Christian language and Christian habits, but they never had Christ. They had religion. They had performance. They had assumption. But they didn't have him.
So, don't wait until it's too late to find out the truth. Don't wait until you're standing before him to realize you were wrong. Examine yourself now. Test yourself now. Make sure [music] now. Because there are no second chances after death. No appeals, no doovers. Just eternal reality based on what you did with Jesus today.
Let me say this one last time. [music] Hell is not a metaphor. It's not a scare tactic. It's not religious manipulation. It's real. It's eternal. And it's the final destination for anyone who dies without truly knowing Jesus Christ as Lord.
[music] Not everyone who says, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom. Not everyone who went to church will walk into heaven. Not everyone who looked spiritual will be saved.
There will be many, not few, who stand before Jesus, shocked and confused, saying, "But didn't I believe? Didn't I serve? Didn't I pray? Didn't I do good things?" And he will look them in the eye and say the most terrifying words in all of scripture: "Depart from me. I never knew you."
That's not about atheists. That's about people who thought they were saved. People who had all the Christian activities but never had Christ himself.
So I'm asking you now with everything in me: Do you truly know him? Have you surrendered your life or just attended services? Do you obey him or just admire him? Is there fruit or just religious performance? Do you love his presence more than this world? Can you be corrected or do you resist every rebuke? Are you following the true gospel or a comfortable counterfeit?
If any of these 10 warning signs described you, don't walk away unchanged. Don't wait until your final breath to realize you missed him. You don't need to be perfect. You don't need to have it all figured out. But you do need to be born again. You need to fall at his feet right now and say, "Jesus, save me. Change me. Be my Lord. Not just my Savior, my Lord."
Because there is no in between. You're either on the narrow road to life or the wide road to destruction. And if you're on the wrong road, you don't have to stay there. Repent. Return. Run to Jesus while there's still time. The door to heaven is still open. But it won't stay open forever. Come now before the warning becomes judgment. Before the signs become your sentence, before eternity begins without you in the kingdom.
