Thank you very much.
Okay, once again I wanted to clarify that I'm not a lawyer. My name is Choma Rosemary Onyekaba and I'm the CEO BBF and Crown Star Group. I'll be representing Justice Mabel Segunbelu. I am privileged at this point to say that I'm honored to be here and to have experienced what everyone on this platform has to say about the girl child.
But while I listened to what everyone said, I figured that we missed out on something very important. We talked about what everyone has always talked about, but we forgot that we have not just the grassroots to manage, but the Gen Z upcoming children. The reason I say that is we are growing girls in the society who are we are preaching independence are busy expecting certain level of promises and actual performance from the male gender.
When you hear a girl say, "Oh, I'm going to live a baby girl lifestyle." They are not referring to the baby girl lifestyle going to be presented by themselves to themselves, but they are expecting that the men do the provision while they try on the baby girl lifestyle scheme that a lot of people out there are actually clamoring for and envying. I dare to say that the society is growing not independent women, but still women who are not sure of why they are in existence.
The reason being that if we are going to grow women to become equal or side by side uh genders with the male, then we should start by the mindset. And the reason I say this is if people start from parenting to train the girl child and embedding them that confidence that says, "I can do this with or without somebody holding my hand." Then apparently we might be doing the right thing to eventually give us the leaders that we require.
But the mindset of every girl child when it is not channeled to the right path, will still lead us back to this table where we currently are standing and push us to continue repeating ourselves every day. If you stand with a girl child whose mindset is a man's a man's job is to provide for me, and you stand with someone whose mindset is, "I should do this to make this happen for me." Then you will tell that it will take a lot of work for you to work on the first person who believes a man's job is provision than it would be for you to.
