[Music] Inside the guitar, what role has the guitar played in popular culture? Well, guitars have been around for a long time. You hear the guitar in all different types of music.
Traditional or acoustic guitars, like these here, have a deep body. This deep body amplifies the sound. And then there's the electric guitar. Its sound is quite different from the acoustic.
[Music] Guitar. Many musicians have a favorite brand of electric guitar. Some love their Fenders, and others prefer Gibsons. We visited the Gibson Guitar Factory in the US to learn more about these amazing instruments.
First, we learned that electric guitars, unlike acoustic guitars, have a solid body. At the factory, they use big machines to make the bodies, lots of them. But they also do a lot of things by hand, like adding the frets. These guitars look just like the original Gibson did in 1952, with the same colors and the same pattern.
When we arrived, the factory had just received an order for 500 of these. But one thing is still missing: the sound. They put small magnets, like these, under the strings. When the strings move, they create audio waves. The magnets change these waves into electricity. The electricity goes through a wire, and we hear sounds. Then they add the strings, and it's [Music] done.
So, you see, the electric guitar was part of a revolution in music, and it still is today.
