Your Brain Deletes Your First 3 Years of Life — Scientists Finally Explain Why

Your brain actively deletes your first 3 years of life. And scientists just found out why. Nobody on Earth remembers being born on their first birthday or learning how to walk. Even though your brain is literally recording every single memory, it has nowhere to store those memories.

But here's the strangest part. Your brain develops twice as many neurons during those first 3 years. Your brain is literally creating and destroying millions upon millions of connections every single day. During this massive rewiring process, toddlers can learn languages very easily.

Researchers actually asked four-year-olds about memories from when they were two, and they perfectly remembered everything. But when those same kids became 6 to 7 years old and were asked about the same memories, all of their memories had completely vanished because your hippocampus, which is the part of your brain that stores long-term memory, doesn't fully develop until the age three. And scientists call this childhood amnesia.

Do you know any of your childhood memories?
