[music] [music] [music] God bless you and welcome once again to another exciting episode of Doers of the Word Ministries broadcast. Here we are on the Marketplace Network. We are blessed and we're delighted and privileged to be able to come into your homes to share with you a word from the Lord. I pray that as I share this message with you today that the Lord will speak to your heart, that the Lord will encourage you and lift you up. That whatever situations you may find yourself in, you will find an answer as you trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding.
We're going to open up with a word of prayer and then we're going to go directly into our message. Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you, Lord, for this opportunity. We thank you, Lord, for the medium of this network, oh God, that we can come into the homes of your people and speak life to them, oh God. Father God, I pray that as your word goes forth, Father, that you will make every crooked place straight. Father, I pray that you'll prepare the hearts of your people to hear what the spirit of the Lord has to say. And God, that you'll anoint my delivery, Father, that they will receive it the way it is intended. I thank you, Father, and I ask this in Jesus wonderful name. Amen.
Praise God. Let's go directly to our message for today. If you have your Bibles, go with me to the book of Matthew, chap 26. And we're going to read verses 36 through 39. That's Matthew chap 26, and we're going to start at verse 36 through 39. Notice what it says. Then came Jesus with his disciples unto a place called Gethsemane, which was a garden near Jerusalem, and said unto them, "Sit right here while I go a little further and pray." And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, which were James and John. And he began to be very sorrowful and very heavy. Then he said unto them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death." And he instructed them by saying, "Wait here and watch with me." And he went a little further and he fell on his face and he prayed, saying these words. He said, "Oh my father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. He went again the second time and prayed, saying, "Oh my father, if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it, thy will be done." Amen.
Now, Jesus had something that would do us all a world of good if we had some of it, too. His prayer was focused on what he was about to face. And he knew that this was the setup that he and his father had set from the beginning of creation. He knew that this is the road that he would have to take. Amen. Being in human form, his humanity spoke out and said, "If I could avoid this, then can we do it another way?" But Jesus being not only how could I say not only human but also divine he went back into his divine state and he said nevertheless not my will but thy will be done. So my text today to you is the thy will state of mind. This is what Jesus had and this is what we ought to have too. a thy will state of mind.
There's a lot that we can learn as we observe the study of chiology. Christianity is the theological interpretation of the person and the work of Jesus Christ. In this particular study, one of the many things that fascinates me about the life of Jesus is that everything that Jesus did during his 33 years of living on this earth, he did it intentionally. Amen. Everything he did, he did it on purpose. There was no second guessing and there were no regrets. And it was done according to the capacity of his mindset. I want you to I want that to sink in. It was done in the capacity of his mindset. And that's why the Bible instructs us in Philippians 2:5. It says, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."
Now, this might not sound too impressive to you, but this is an extremely powerful observation when you take time to think about it. Let that mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Because this is something that far too many people fail to accomplish in their own lifetime. Far too many people go to their grave with far too many unrealized accomplishments. They had the dream, but it was never realized. They had the potential, but never the manifestation of that potential. What people don't understand is that your mind is like your bed. Amen. You have to make it up every day. And you have to be careful who you let in it.
You see, life really isn't all that complicated as most people make it out to be. I heard someone say, "Life is like a camera. Number one, just focus in on what's important and capture the good times. Number two, develop from the negatives uh that life throws at you." And number three, and if things don't seem to work out, just throw that one away and just take another picture. Amen.
Jesus was always focused and intentionally driven to do one thing. And that one thing you'll find in St. John 8 verse 29. And he that sent me is with me. The father has not left me alone. Watch what he says. He says, "For I do always those things that please him." Jesus was never into self, but in these last days, sad to say, that most Christians are all about self. Amen. The average conversation that a lot of Christians are having usually consists in things about my ministry, my church, my pastor, my house, my car, my reputation, my anointing. And the fact of the matter is that Jesus was not concerned about any of these things for himself. He was only concerned about one thing and one thing only and that was pleasing the will of the father that sent him.
What I like about Jesus, and this is going to blow a lot of minds when I say this, but what I like about Jesus was that he knew that he did not have to be seen to be anointed. Amen. Amen. But at the same time, being anointed will get you noticed. And I think we spend too much time majoring on the minors when all we have to do is just get anointed. If you just get anointed, God will use you. God will send you to where he wants you to be. God will open up doors for you to go through that he can use you according to his perfect will. And the anointing comes into a person's life when they learn how to operate in the thy will state of mind.
The thy will state of mind is only achieved when we surrender to God's process of mind renewal. Amen. Where do we get that from? Mind renewal. We find that in Romans chapter 2, chapter 12 rather verse two. And be not conformed to this world. Watch this. But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
So let's let's look at this verse a little bit closer. Jesus brought his 12 disciples to a certain place and told them to stay here while I go a little further and pray. But as he went further, he only took Peter, James, and John with him. He had 12 disciples, but he only took three of them with him. Peter, James, and John because he felt that they were the only ones out of the 12 that will be most sympathetic to where he was about to go and what he was about to face. Point number one, you cannot take everyone with you where God is trying to take you. Good word. Because negative people will always have a problem with every solution that you give them. And so therefore, they may not understand your purpose. Wow. And watch this. Where God is trying to take you, everything about you can't go either. Amen. We have a tendency that wherever we go, we take our unhealed hurts with us. Amen. And the danger in that is that you never heal from what hurts you. Uh, and if you never heal from what hurt you, you'll bleed on people that did not cut you. And if there was anybody that knew what hurt felt like, it was Jesus. Jesus was lied on. He was misrepresented. He was betrayed. He was ridiculed. He was talked about. He was physically abused. And people wanted to kill him. Wow. And in the midst of all these things, he overcame every one of them because he operated in a thy will state of mind.
Jesus prayed a human prayer. Watch this. He said, "Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me." He agonized in his humanity over what he was about to endure. But because he was no different than you and I when it comes to being tried by afflictions, Jesus agonized over it in his humanity. But in Hebrews 4:15, it tells us, "For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." And so while in the garden of Gethsemane at the lowest time in his physical life, how was he able to face that onour challenge of his impending demise? The only way he got through this extremely difficult time in his life was because he operated in a thy will state of mind. M And when he came back to his disciples the first time, the Bible says he found them sleeping. They fell asleep on Jesus. Well, point number two, even the best people in your life can let you down. Jesus was dependent on them to pray with him. And when he came back, they were sound asleep. He admonished them for not taking his situation seriously. He said, "Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation." Why? Because the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Amen. He rebuked him by saying, "Could you not watch with me one hour?" You see, when we rely on our flesh in critical situations like this, defeat is always inevitable. Yes. But because of who he was and where his mind was focused, he returned to his solitary place of prayer with a firm resolve. And he declared, "If this cup may not pass from me unless I drink it, thy will be done." It is when we learn to rest in his will. That's when things will begin to turn around in our lives. Wow. Lord, I may not have a clearcut explanation as to why my job laid me off. I may not have a clear-cut explanation as to why I'm not married yet or why the bottom just fell out or why I have this sickness. But in spite of all these things, Lord, I trust you. Amen. You've got to realize not everything you face can be changed. But nothing can be changed until you face it. With that state of mind, no wonder Job was able to declare in Job 13:15, Job said, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him." Then we can cry out like David and say in Psalm 16:1, "Preserve me, oh God, for in thee do I put my trust. Because there's something about trusting in the Lord. Amen. When we trust him, he will watch over us. When we trust him, he will be a very present help in a time of trouble.
When Jesus came back to them the second time, he found them sleep again. But when he came to them the third time, he said, "It's okay now. Go ahead on and sleep." Point number three, nothing is all right until you can truly say it's all right. Amen. You can create your whole world by the words that you speak. Because life and death, they're in the power of the tongue. Amen.
And so in my closing, in order to have the thy will state of mind, you need to know that the word of God is the will of God. The word of God is the will of God. The word is a light unto our pathway as well as a light unto our feet. The Bible says he sent his word and it healed them. Praise God. So in these last and evil days, we need to pray and we need to ask God to give us what Jesus had in his most difficult time in his entire human life. Father, give us give your people a thy will state of mind. Amen.
Well, that's my message for today. You see, when God's will is being done, the safest place in the whole wide world is in the will of God. Thy will, oh Lord, be done. I pray that this word has encouraged you, has given you some insight as to what lies ahead. God's will will always be done. And if his will is done and you're in his will, then God's going to bless you. He's going to uphold you. He's going to keep you.
