When did you see Jesus? As I was brought before him, I was captured. He picks up my face. He looks me in the eyes and he communicates to me and not in English, but I'm communicating it back now in English. But it was such a communication of why are you concerned about that which I paid for? I was forgiven. He looked at me not as if I was half forgiven, kind of forgiven. I was fully forgiven. I was fully his and he was fully mine.
I'm sitting here with my good friend, Mr. Gabe Perau. Welcome to the podcast. And we've known each other for several years. You've been reaching a lot of people through social media, but recently you've seen a lot of traction with your testimony. 18 days in heaven. You suffered a head injury. You flatlined. And then for 18 days, you were in a coma. and you had very supernatural experiences during that time. We'll get into that testimony in just a moment. But first, take us to the beginning. What was life like before this encounter?
>> Yeah. Well, I knew all about faith. I knew all about the Bible. And genuinely, I did love the Lord. I I was born again. But I always describe it, you know, you can hear about watermelon a hundred times. It's very different to hear all about it versus holding it in your hand and you taste and see for yourself. And so, um, before this experience, I did love the Lord, but there there were a lot of areas that I actually saw as gray, and I didn't necessarily really even think much of them. And again, it was like the Bible was great, but it was it was a study book for me, but it wasn't necessarily a an encounter book. It was it was still still just, you know, words on a page of faith, yet not an encounter yet.
>> So, take us now to this moment where you suffered this head injury. How did how did that come about? What were you doing when you were injured?
>> Yeah, so it was October 25th, 2021, almost 5 years ago, and it was an ordinary day about 70° and I was with two of my friends. We were riding an electric skateboard and going between 15 to 25 miles hour. I remember my other friend had started to head back to the house, but me and my friend John Michael were we looked at each other, we're like, why don't we race? And so we were just hooking around the curve of the road, and there was that little light bump right in the middle, and it be soon became my best friend. Yeah. Not in a good way. As soon as my skateboard hit, I flipped off. And I just remember just remember thinking to myself, "Wow." Because it truly was 0 to 100 in just a moment. I mean, my last my last day on that day came out of nowhere. And so I just remember doing an unintentional backflip off that board and landing just right directly on my head. My skull immediately cracked. Blood had nowhere to escape other than rushing out of my ears. My eyes rolled back and my body went plank. My friend John Michael turned around, assuming that I was pranking him, considering how I wasn't moving, ran over to me, quickly discovered it wasn't a prank.
>> Now, had you talked to him since then, and do you know what was going through his mind when he saw you like that?
>> Yeah. Yeah, we we we certainly had conversations since. However, what was what was so fascinating is uh ever since I had come back, I knew that he had been praying for me, right? And so I'd always told him because I I saw outside of my body his prayers. Here's the thing though,
>> in that moment.
>> So it was it was in that moment and then then for the next 18 days I knew everyone was praying for me. I I was so aware of it.
>> Even you knew everyone was praying for you. you were consciously aware of the fact you could feel the prayers or you saw the people praying.
>> It wasn't just like seeing as if I saw every single visible person praying for me, but it was outside of my body. There's this knowing there's this I'm not even going to say like revelation because it's it was like it wasn't like a thought. It was like my own being as a spirit cuz I slipped out of my body. I quickly understood the like more realities of the spiritual realm. And I knew everyone was praying for me because I saw how real their prayers were. So it was both like a sight, but it was even deeper than just a sight. Like there's layers to it. And it was just like I knew he was praying for me. Well, sure enough, and we've talked about this since I've come back. He said, Gabriel, as I as I held your body in my arms, I was praying over you. And I was saying, Gabriel, you will live and not die. You will live and not die. You will live and not die in Jesus name. He was praying over me.
>> How quickly that that day turned. It must have been so traumatic for your friends who were with you.
>> Yeah, it was. In fact, they went through, in fact, they have all the trauma of this incident and still challenging for them to talk about it. For me, I had slipped out of my body and I was already suctioning up to this light. And so,
>> so when you hit your head, was there any pain that you felt or were you instantly just out?
>> Instant. Instant. In just a moment, it truly was a glove just slipping right off my hand and I felt free. I felt so free. It just it was like I felt like I took my first breath. It was like because my identity isn't in my flesh and blood any longer. It's not in what I look like. But my identity is being called by the light. But the light that isn't visible is not just visible. It's not just a trans transesscent light. This light is him. This light is Christ. And so I knew that they were praying over me. So, as I'm suctioned up, I'm suctioned through what I call I call it the second heaven. It's it's the spiritual realm. There's many layers to what I say is heaven. And I only experienced one percentage of of heaven. I don't claim like I know it all. I just I saw a slight glimp in Christ, a slight glimpse. And so, as I was just suctioned up, it was like the weight of this world just burned off of me. And I was aware though that there was mass chaos in this what I call spiritual realm above the earth. Because you just you witness these these spirits fighting these fallen angels fighting the angels and they they fight specifically over the authority that human beings gave them over specifically not just words but specifically for unforgiveness resentment. I saw it literally harbored these storage depots is what I is a word that I put to it. These storage depots over every human being and they they feast on words of unforgiveness and introduce chaos. these fallen spirits introduce the feelings and thoughts and identities to people, then they'll convince them that it's them.
So, I want to back up just a little bit here because you're describing some very supernatural elements to a reality that is very difficult to understand.
>> Yeah.
>> Before this accident, were you interested in the supernatural? Did you ever have a vision? Were you aware of these types of things?
>> I certainly was interested in the supernatural. I certainly was, you know, like, oh, what what is that? But I was still skeptical that it even was I I I I was actually at the time becoming more and more skeptical of could could this even be a thing? Are people making this up? Is this how do people experience Jesus and then come back? This doesn't make sense. I thought it's final. And so there was this just my eyes did opened. Um, but I was definitely you could say interested but um definitely my eyes opened after this experience and because even the way you're talking about it right now you can tell that it's had a profound impact on you. The emotion still seems very raw from it. So you're describing these beings waring and this chaos that you sense. What did they look like?
>> It was it was so fascinating because I don't remember all the details of what they look like. And that's why even as I tell my testimony, I I remember these things that I saw. It wasn't just like even separate of what Christ was revealing, but it was like he was allowing me to see it because he wanted to show me how deeply he cared for humanity. And it it the reason that he allowed me to see it is because he didn't want his his the humanity, the family he created. He didn't want us to go through all this pain and suffering and and resentment, but he was showing me how much of a free will we have and how much authority we were given on the earth and how we've given it over to these fallen angels too many times.
>> So, do I understand this correctly? You saw these beings on your way up to higher plains, if you will.
>> That's how I describe it. I again, I do my best to put this all into English.
>> That's got to be difficult.
>> It's very difficult because it literally is like a suitcase. It's an endless suitcase like an onion that you unwrap and you landmark it obviously through scripture because you don't want to speak beyond scripture. But it is very challenging to put it back into the English language and it's something that I'll never perfectly describe because it's so it was so layered again. It was outside my body. Like it wasn't like a situation like I was driving to the studio today and I passed by a green traffic light. It wasn't like a situation that you just described like that. It was it was literally something outside my body. And so that's why I do my best to put English words to it. But I always tell people, you know, I'm not introducing scripture. I'm not claiming to be some special person. I'm just a man who encountered the grace of Christ.
>> And this coma that you were in lasted for 18 days.
>> Yeah.
>> Did it feel like that in terms of your experience?
>> No. And I say 18 days in heaven, but that's because I was in a coma for 18 days. I don't I can't put a time clock on my experience because it was outside of time. And it was so fascinating because as I was suctioned up out of this second heaven, I was just aware of this chaos and just this like the downfall and and all these things in the spiritual realm. But then I was just kind of like pulled through it by this I describe it as like a tunnel and a magnet. But the light wasn't just bringing me to a place. The light was the place and the light was enveloping me.
>> H say that again. The light was the place.
>> And that's why I say heaven can't be described as a location. Heaven is him. Heaven is Christ. John wrote this in the book of Revelation. There's no need for sun or moon in the city. Now, he was referencing the second heaven, which is where Christ will be still. But for the for the lamb is the light is what he wrote. And I discovered that because when I was brought before him, as I'm suctioned through, I quickly understood almost everything I had about heaven was wrong. It's not all about some destination or tourism spot. Heaven is him.
I know time doesn't necessarily apply to your experience, but if we can, let's put a chronological order on this. You remember that accident? Suddenly, you're being sucked up. Now, I thought it was really interesting the way you worded that, that it was like the glove came off. So, the glove is the body. Did you feel your soul come out of the body?
>> Yeah, it was just it was like I saw my body my body was like an earth vehicle is now what I call it because it really was just my earth suit.
>> Earth suit. Yeah.
>> Because I I I really just slipped right out. It was just like and and imagine knowing you're outside your body yet your life didn't end. It changes everything. Now my life isn't about my body anymore.
>> My life can be found in him.
>> So you go you slip out of your earth suit.
>> Yeah.
>> You you you have this sensation of it sounds like rapid speed upwards.
>> Yes.
>> You become aware of what you would call and again we're using terminology to the best of our ability but what you would call the second heaven or
>> maybe that that in between realm where there's still the earthly manifestations with the supernatural manifestations together.
>> Yeah,
>> those waring beings. You see that forgiveness and unforgiveness, those two dynamics play huge roles in terms of influence in the earth and spiritual warfare. So now you're on your way upward. What's the next thing you see?
>> And not just on the earth. Unforgiveness can actually block. There's so many answers that people are seeking for in prayer. I have to touch on this.
>> Please.
>> Unforgiveness literally forms a moat. It forms a storage depot. you could say a concrete um a concrete barrier and and people pray for so many things yet they don't understand like there's just this barrier they keep hitting and as long as they harbor that unforgiveness the reason why the reason it's not that God doesn't want to answer their prayers he does of course he does but God is love so if you operate outside of love and you want him to bless you it doesn't work that way you can't both walk in light and dark at the same time and then expect light to bless Light can't fellowship with darkness. That's why we've got to forgive.
>> I think that's a real important message. And for Gab's nitpicky critics, I don't think Gabe literally means actual cement.
>> No.
>> Okay. Just making sure. I know that's obvious to most people, but
>> I speak as a as a metaphor.
>> So now, what did you see next? You you you see that layer and then what happens?
>> And then it was I was it was brought to this place. And I don't describe it as just like a it's not just a city in the form of an urban location, but it's a city that is alive. It's a city that has its own breath. And there's no thing in the city because everything is alive. So it's there's no object because nothing is just an object. Everything is alive. And there's a hymn of love across this entire place. And he is not just at the center. He is left. He is right. He is up. He is down. He's center. He's back.
>> When you say there's a hymn, what do you mean by that?
>> There's a the sound of praise reverberates across all of all of heaven of what I experienced. I knew I didn't see all of heaven, but I just knew that where I was, praise rever, you could hear it. Worthy is the lamb. Like the mountains would sing worthy is the lamb. And the rivers of life, the waters would crash back and forth and sing it on a lower note. Worthy is the lamb. And then the streets would receive it on an even lower note. Worthy is the lamb. And it would go back and forth and back and forth. And love would have a tone to it. Again, I'm doing my best to put this into the English language. I'm sure this is only a slight presentation of it, but it's beautiful. It's beautiful.
When did you see Jesus? As I was brought before him, I was captured. eye to eye. Although it wasn't originally eye to eye because I was concerned. I was struck with a wholly reverent fear that I was done for. The list of my mistakes is going to get pulled up. I don't stand a chance before him. I don't deserve him. Struck with a holy fear. Isaiah in chapter 6 described a similar holy fear. Who am I? Who am I? For he said, I'm an unclean man. I know how he felt. But as I'm struck with this holy fear, he picks up my face. He looks me in the eyes and he communicates to me and not in English, but I'm communicating it back now in English, but it was such a communication of why are you concerned about that which I paid for? I was forgiven. He looked at me not as if I was half forgiven, kind of forgiven. I was fully forgiven. I was fully his and he was fully mine.
I could see that even as you remember that it's affecting you. What are you feeling right now?
>> Just him. He didn't think about loving me. He didn't consider it. He didn't look at me and say, "Well, let's see if Gabe qualifies." He loved me because that's who he was. And especially for me, I'd always grown up feeling like I had to qualify myself for everyone else. feeling I had to look good enough and I had to get the grades and the money and the accolades and the girl and you we have all these these things we're told that we need to try to become. I quickly discovered it was it was never about that because it wasn't about me and all the things I could do. It was him and I was because he was. So I found the end of myself was the start of him.
That's beautiful. Now, I know what I'm about to ask is a very basic question.
>> Sure.
>> And most Christians understand this dynamic, but I think it's important to touch on it because in one instance, you describe that holy fear, but then in another aspect of your testimony, you describe there being no fear. Now, I understand and again, as I think most Christians who understand the basics of how these dynamics work, I understand that you're describing two different kinds of fear.
>> Exactly. So to to the layman, it could sound like a contradiction, but could you speak to that?
>> Yeah, for sure. Well, thanks for asking that. It was a a holy fear of God that I certainly did have and a holy reverence that you recognize you're not enti I'm not entitled to him. I don't deserve him. I didn't earn him. So, there's this holy reverence at the same exact time. It's it is multi-layered. At the same exact time, perfect love casts out all fear. And so there is no shame. There is no guilt. There's no there's no pouring down or or or looking down. But he met me face to face. There's this love that didn't judge me down. It judged me up. H And so it was it was beautiful. And so that's why I describe these two fears that may confuse lay people, but I I love clarifying
>> just be equivocation, right? The word fear in one context can mean something else.
>> Exactly. And you know I describe Moses as two different people said you described Moses as a as a weak emanciated. Then you also described him as strong and like a lumberjack. And it's like of course. Well, before Moses saw the burning bush. And most people actually don't realize this. He saw the pre-incarnate Christ in the fire. Moses presented all of his failures. And in that burning bush, he met the God who said, "I am." M God didn't tell Moses, "Moses, you are this. You are this. You are this. You're a failure." God said, "I am." When Moses encountered that pre-incarnate Christ in the fire, he discovered who he was in in the father. Then he became the strong lumberjack that led an entire nation out of slavery and the man that you wouldn't mess around with. So, of course, I describe, you know, some people ask me about Moses, and at times I've described how he was before the bush. He was nothing. He he wouldn't have the ability to lead anybody or anything. But his encounter defined him. He was who God said he was. So he humility met grace. So I describe Moses as two different identities, but it's not two different. It's a transformation. It's a layer of Moses.
>> Or like in the book of Revelation, look, a lion. He turned and saw a lamb.
>> The lamb. Exactly. So there there there are nuances to the dynamics of heaven that we wouldn't understand here on this side of eternity.
>> It's like was David a heretic for calling Jesus a shepherd? No.
>> Is Jesus just the shepherd? No. He is the shepherd and he's also the lion. He is the lamb and the lion. So there's multi many layers. Well, I really do appreciate the way you've been very careful to present your testimony.
>> You're not saying this is authoritative scripture. You're not saying, "Hey, here are some new doctrines that I received from Jesus." And I'll be honest with you, you know, I'm charismatic to the bone. People call me hyper charismatic, intending it to be a criticism, but I don't think that's strong enough language. I'm far more than hyper charismatic. I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. I believe in speaking in tongues. I believe in miracles. I believe deliverance is for today and so forth. I can go down the list.
>> But when it comes to near-death experiences, I've often been very skeptical. I I I appreciate the way you've handled this. I'm not saying I don't believe any of them. I just like to filter them through certain criteria. Of course, the first one being scripture. Is there anything in there that contradicts the scripture?
>> Um are people claiming new revelatory authority? Um I certainly appreciate, for example, ministries like, you know, Julie Hedenborg, our dear friend. She has a podcast. She she was a medical expert. She now has a podcast where she often covers near-death experiences. So, I love that ministry. I've always been very appreciative of the way that Bill Whis has presented his testimony. He's a friend of mine and I appreciate his testimony, of course, and the way he points back to scripture. And I appreciate the way you handle this. You've been very careful, not just through the book. You've actually gone back and made corrections to the book.
>> Yeah.
>> Where you felt things could be a little confusing or maybe you sent the wrong message or didn't word it quite so. I really appreciate that. Speak to that a little bit. near-death experiences as testimonies in general and then your approach to making sure you're theologically sound in the way you're presenting it.
>> Yeah. Well, absolutely. Well, you know, as as real of an encounter in an experience can be to the person who went through it, the the importance of anything supernatural, anything spiritual, is that we don't immediately accept that it even it even could be heard because it is so easy to get pulled in so many different directions that are beyond scripture. And so for me, I I encountered a Jesus who he his words weren't just something separate of him, but his words were him. And so when we have his word, his his his perfect word here in this word of God, it's very important that when we share our encounters about Jesus or the spiritual realm, that we don't that we don't introduce things that aren't aren't in scripture. And so, um, that that was my heart and that's been my heart. And if I ever do communicate something where maybe it it um people were receiving it differently than what I was intending it for, then I'm all about, hey, I want to adjust that sentence. Let me clarify further. Um because again, as I unpack these layers, I never seek to go beyond the word of God. And you know, just similar to Stephen in Acts chapter 7, who wasn't an apostle, wasn't writing scripture, yet he had an encounter with Christ as he was being stoned to death. And I know there's some debate in terms of the Greek word that Paul used when writing about I believe it was he was describing himself when he talked about the third heaven. Can you speak to that a little bit?
>> Absolutely. Well, when you look at the context of that, he was talking about his apostilhip and he knew that he was writing canon to the church. He knew that he was giving them the the canonized revelation that they were supposed to build their faith upon. And he spoke specifically and he said, "I'm I'm not authorized to talk about this." And so there's two layers to that. one, we know he wasn't giving a universal law because if he was, John and Revelation would have debunked that. Um, Daniel, Ezekiel, and Isaiah all would have debunked that as well. Steven as you mentioned
>> and Steven in Acts chapter 7.
>> So, so we can already conclude, well, that wasn't a universal law because obviously throughout the Bible there were heavenly encounters. But we can also understand that that was a hum a hum humil humilative a humble place that he was taking where he was saying I'm not going to introduce my encounter trying to establish authority because he was defending his apostilhip at the time.
>> Right?
>> And so he was saying I'm not allowed to tell this because I I it would be unjust of me to tell you that I went to heaven to try to tell you I'm some apostle and and neither do I use that reasoning at all. And so I I actually I follow the spirit of Paul's scripture there as well.
>> Well, a couple things there. I find it interesting that some of your biggest critics will use that text to try to make it seem as though you sharing your testimony is unbiblical. And I find it interesting, especially given that they're so big on the difference between prescriptive and descriptive. I mean, who is to say that Paul sharing his personal testimony was in fact prescriptive, if in fact it's even true that the original language is applied in the way that they suggest. As we're talking about the different things that you've seen and your approach to making sure that you're aligning with scripture, I think of the question, is there anything that after your experience you corrected in your theology or do you feel that this has no how do I want to say effect on your theology at all?
>> I I would actually say this has only led me to uh explore scripture further. This has only led me led me into more in love with the Bible than ever before. And just Jesus Jesus plus nothing is is my theology. He is he is all in all. And so it has definitely radicalized a lot of the way that I think though. And um there were some areas that I actually uh had I I had a lot of religionized versions of faith that actually weren't necessarily scriptural. And for example, I had a a concept of tithing and giving. And I I truly viewed it as as like an investment or like a slot machine. Like if I gave God a certain amount of money, that means he would bless me. And if I ever have something go wrong in my life, it's not because I'm not it's because I'm not giving him enough money. So I need to give this church more money and then things will fix in my life. like I thought of it very transactional and I learned about the grace of God. I would talk about the grace of God but I wouldn't fully apply the grace of God to all my life and so there was areas that I was like qualifying myself for and so actually that was corrected and since coming back I I don't seek to shove things down their throat and and you know I believe in teaching giving but we should give out of the abundance of the heart and because we want to not out of manipulation or compulsion even the Bible says let no man give out of compulsion. So there's areas like that. There was um areas that I just I I recognize now when people teach scripture and they they teach they teach the letter of the law without the spirit of the law.
>> Right.
>> It's so easy to become the same Pharisees of 2000 years ago. And so I'm very sensitive to that as well now. And yeah. Well, it's interesting to me that we believe in salvation as a biblical principle and we embrace testimonies of salvation. We embrace healing as a biblical principle and we embrace testimonies of healing. Nobody says, "Well, because you testified that you were healed that you're therefore trying to add to scripture." No, you are experiencing the spiritual dynamics as prescribed by
>> being born again supernaturally. And so if we in principle believe in heaven and if we in principle believe in visions then it stands to reason that we should see testimonies of people capturing visions of the heavenly.
>> Yeah. And you know I think everyone likes to talk as if they were there during the experience of mine and as if they I guess they saw what I didn't see. Um, it is very interesting you but you know that's a great point. You know, being born again, the born again miraculous experience is not something, you know, that every in this Bible, it's not written that Jim in Illinois or Joe in Montana was born again in 2015. The Bible doesn't write that. Yet, when a Joe in Montana is born again in 2015, we don't dismiss it because it aligns with scripture. And so I think there is very much so a hesitancy or not not just a hesitancy but an attack on anything supernatural because it challenges everything we're told on earth.
>> I think of what Jesus said about casting your pearls before the swine.
>> Yeah.
>> I I just have always been of the belief that there are some people who are just they intend on misunderstanding you
>> and so no matter what you say or do, it will be held against you and used against you. And I think just like the secular media does, there's a lot of narrative crafting. There's a lot of faulty premises that are set. There's a lot of assumptions about motives and what's going through your mind when you're describing certain things. And so it's very easy to do that. I'm not impressed. It's not clever to me. It it doesn't take anyone highly intellectual to be hyperritical. But I've always found that there are people in every generation who are hungry for the supernatural. And there will always be the critic. There will always be those who come against the move of the Holy Spirit. I found, and hopefully this is an encouragement to you and anyone listening, I found that you can respond. It's good. And I'd like the way I've seen you respond before, but all in all, they've really not had that big of an impact on anything that God is doing.
>> Yeah. as hard as they try, as much as there might be this illusion of influence, especially when you can gather criticisms in one place like an online space in real life, in the real world where real ministry is done, I've not it seen I've not seen it affect even a percent of what God is doing. Um, so I want to encourage you, keep sharing your testimony. Nothing is working to stop it. God is on the move. In fact, I think I think it's safe to say now this is a New York Times bestseller. Um, not that it's about the sales, but hey, why not? I think it's I think it's a form of indication when a message goes so widespread like this. But let's talk now to the one who's hungry.
>> They're they're they're fascinated by your testimony and they're just in a place right now where they need some encouragement.
>> Knowing what you know about the supernatural, having experienced what you've experienced, will you look to that one right now who's discouraged, who maybe is wondering, what's the point of all of this? and they need to hear a word of truth. Minister to them.
>> I'm just here to tell you, you know, during my time with David, if he told me that these cameras were shut off and that he was the only one I was talking to, I would rejoice just the same because his life matters just as much as as mine did. Because when I was before Jesus, I was his only one. And so when I speak to you right now as the viewer, you need to understand, I'm not speaking to you this way because there's thousands watching or millions watching. I'm literally only speaking to one person because that's what I saw. It was like when Jesus was on that cross, I was the 99. He left for just the one. I was his one. And I hate to break it to you, but you are as well. You are worth it all to him. He hung there. He hung there with with your name written on his wounds. And so I just encourage you today that you are you are worth everything to him. But more importantly, just look to him. And whatever you do have, however little it might look, give it to him. Turn from your own ways. If you feel like you're at the end of yourself and you feel like you have no hope in your own ability, you're in the best place you could possibly be in cuz that's where he'll use you. That's where he'll pick you up and show you who he is. So, I pray you would encounter him today by faith. You'll be more blessed. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Just understand you don't have to wait to get to heaven to encounter him. You can encounter him now by faith. You can walk with him as your friend today. Receive his love today in the name of Jesus. You'll see how you'll you can never be rejected when you're so accepted by him. So be forgiven today. Repent. Turn turn to him and receive what he did for you on the cross. And then walk in his freedom. And father, I pray for that one receiving this now. And I ask you to envelop them in your presence. Make them aware of your nearness. Cause them to live in light of eternity. Cause them to live as heavenly minded ambassadors representing you. Empower them today. Refresh them today. Heal them today. deliver them today in the mighty name of Jesus we pray and I want you to say it because you receive it. Type it in the comments section. Amen. Gabe, my friend, this has been fascinating. 18 days in heaven. I left my body. I met Jesus. What he told me will alter your eternity. Where can they get their copy?
