Can you describe male behavior in a traditional relationship?

Traditional relationship, I would say male behavior in a traditional relationship would be a provider and a protector.

Very gentleman behavior. Opening the door for your girlfriend. Um, you know, making her feel beautiful and special. Paying for the dates, opening the doors, being the provider of the relationship.

Do women still prefer traditional male behavior even while saying gender roles shouldn't matter?

A thousand percent. I think for the majority of relationships, um, they want to be provided for. I think in this generation, we're told, "Oh, we can go vice versa." But it's someone wants a provider, especially as a woman. Like, I want a man to provide for me.

Realistically, all women want a traditional man. Ladies, let's get it together. Like, [ __ ] you do not want to work. You do not want to work. You do not want to work. As a man, as a man, you should provide for your woman. Provide for your woman. The woman is a prize. You should be paying for her bills, her nails, her hair, everything. You, you are lucky enough to have a baddie. Keep her. Keep her. Provide. Be a provider. That's what a man does.

Do women still prefer traditional male behavior even while saying that gender roles shouldn't matter?

Listen, babe, I prefer traditional behavior because you're a man. Be a man. Be a man. Don't be the woman. Be a man.

Who do you think are the biggest enforcers of gender roles, men or women?

Um, probably I. That's a great question. I don't know. I'd say it's probably a mix right now. Um, I feel like a lot of men want women to go 50/50, but it's traditional for a man to provide. So, it just depends. I don't know.

You know, I think it comes from both sides. You, you'll meet women that kind of prefer a man that, uh, kind of sticks to the more, uh, I guess what you would call traditional ideals, but on the other hand, you're going to meet men that, uh, would, would rather keep to the idea of, uh, I guess what in Latin American countries we would call machismo. But I feel like guys always want to go 50/50. So, I think that's where the issue starts and where girls are like complaining is because like a man wants all the traditional things, but then like we also want the traditional things, but guys don't want to do that. They don't want to take care of us and like make sure we're pampered and our bills are paid for and like so we could stay at home and do the traditional things. So, I think the problem in society is just like guys just want everything 50/50.

I'm not meant for the outside. I want a real man.

Well, I mean, why shouldn't it be 50/50 if women want equality? Isn't that what women want?

Yeah, but I don't want a roommate. If I want a roommate, I'll just, you know, room it with one of my friends. Like, like you said, provider, protector. Every woman wants that. And if they don't, they're lying.

Why is that?

Because just human nature. Women are supposed to provide the man in a certain way and the men are supposed to, I feel like, going above and beyond in protection and providing for them. And.

So, who do you think are the biggest enforcers of gender roles, men or women?

Um, men, 'cause they're more dominant.

Yeah. But who typically pays on a first date?

Men.

Who's typically expected to approach?

Men.

Who typically buys the drinks at nightclubs?

Men.

Who typically gets down on one knee?

Men. Isn't that all traditional male behavior?

I, I think a girl loves it and a girl loves to be chased.

So, who, once again, who are the biggest enforcers of gender roles, men or women?

It's a good question because women expect it when men don't want to do it all the time, but men get the benefit of going out of their way to do their gender roles.

So, would you say that women are the biggest enforcers of gender roles? Would you agree with that?

No.

You said women expect it though, right?

Yeah.

Well, I mean, does a man necessarily have to expect a woman to do traditional things to be, be with him or?

Oh, nowadays, no. Women don't want to cook, clean, provide for the family. It's, it's definitely different.

So, once again, how are women not the biggest enforcers of gender roles?

I don't think they're, they're subtle enforcers. Like, it's expected.

Well, right. But you're saying that women expect men to be in their roles, but women don't want to be in their roles. So, to me, that sounds like.

Sad.

What's that?

Which is sad.

It is sad. But my point is, it sounds like women are enforcing gender roles more than men are. Is that true?

I guess that makes sense. Yeah.

So, if women are the biggest enforcers of gender roles, how are women not the biggest enforcers of patriarchy? The very thing they demonize men for.

I don't know. I'm in a healthy relationship so I can't really speak on that.

Just in general, like in society, in our culture. What are your thoughts on that?

I don't know. I just, in patriarchy, I just think.

I don't know. I just think men should be the providers. I feel like I'm not giving you good answers at all.

They appreciate someone who is willing to like take care of them and like, but that doesn't necessarily mean like mean like being the breadwinner and like doing all that stuff. It's just I think there's a craving for some sort of like equality within relationships and some of that does kind of like lean towards what we might think is, um, like traditional, but I don't think it's necessarily like.

The only reason I ask is because like if you go to nightclubs, right? Aren't men typically the ones buying drinks?

Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

If you go on a date, aren't, isn't the man typically the one expected to pay?

Okay. So once again, do you think that women still prefer traditional male behavior even while saying that gender roles shouldn't matter?

Like men still have to approach things like that, initiate.

Okay. I do feel like that is probably the general. Yeah.

So, do you think that women prefer traditional male behavior even while saying that gender roles shouldn't matter?

Yeah.

Most of them, right?

Yeah.

Men should approach women.

Who typically buys drinks at the nightclubs?

Men should buy drinks.

Who typically gets down on one knee?

Men should get down on one knee. Women should not get down on one knee. Girls stand up.

Okay. Isn't that all traditional male behavior?

Yeah.

Yeah.

So, don't women typically expect traditional male behavior?

Yes.

Even though they say that gender roles shouldn't matter?

Correct. Yeah. I agree with you. I agree. I think I, I think that all ties down to like women are a part of the problem too with our generation. 100%.

Yes. Women always want an alpha male regardless of what they say on or off camera. Um, that's what we're all looking for and that's why we're all angry.

So, if women are the biggest enforcers of gender roles, how are women not the biggest enforcers of patriarchy?

Oh, that was good. That was good. I don't disagree with you. I don't disagree with you.

So, then why are men being demonized for the patriarchy when women are the biggest enforcers of it?

I think that, okay, I think that women contribute to that, but I think men also allow themselves to fall into that category too. No matter what anyone says, I think every woman wants a provider, but yet, oh, I want to be powerful. I want to be the one taking care of it. But I actually don't want to.

So, here's the controversial part.

Yeah. Yeah.

If women are the ones enforcing gender roles, how are women not the ones enforcing the patriarchy?

Ooh. Oh, that's a good one. I do think that most women are not, I think aware of like what it means to act in a way that would like, like, uh, not force a patriarchal, like, I don't think, like the patriarchal, like system is very, like well-known and I don't think a lot of people realize how integrated all these like thoughts and feelings, everything is into society and so I don't think it's on purpose. I don't think it's on purpose, but it is just so engraved into our societies and into our minds from birth that I do think is something that a lot of women are pushing against.

That's fair. Do you think it's fair for women to kind of blame men or demonize men for the patriarchy when women play a part in upholding it?

Everybody, everything. No, it's obviously not just men. The patriarchy is everybody. It's in. Yeah, I do think that's, yeah, that's definitely true. So, how do you think that like men and women can come together and not just kind of like.

You know, hate each other for this system that we were all born into?

It's, I, it's hard to imagine in, like, I think our current state of world because it takes a lot of sitting and listening and learning and I don't think a lot of people want to put that kind of effort into something that like most people deem as like not that important. So I don't, I just, I don't know if it's possible like nowadays.

I do, I will take accountability as a woman. Like I do think that women, we expect a lot from men. So it's a, it's probably hard to be a man. I understand that. I give men a lot of credit. But I think on both parts, our generation just [ __ ] up right now. It's so bad. But on both sides, both sides. Women too.

And lastly, why do women only complain about patriarchy when they're competing with men?

Competing with men? How so?

Like in the workforce. Um, I don't think women are competing with men in the workforce. I think women are, well, feminists specifically, which I'm not for, are competing against men and against the entire male community. Oh my. Wait, you're asking great questions. These are great. Um, I don't know. I feel like deep down women don't want to feel like they're the man in a relationship. They want their man to take care of them. And like some people are too afraid to admit that, but I'm not. So as a man, do your job. Do your freaking job.
