How To Ship on WhatNot | Whatnot shipping | Printing and Editing labels on Whatnot

I can understand the apprehension of signing up for new reseller platforms when you don't know how to ship on that platform. You clicked here today because you want to know how do I ship on whatnot? Here's the good news: it's actually one of the easiest platforms to ship on in my opinion. The buyer always pays for shipping and it's fairly straightforward. We're gonna go through it step by step today so that you know how to ship on whatnot.

All right, thank you. Very first thing we're going to do is just open up whatnot.com on a desktop. And from here, we will go over to this little man or woman in the corner. We're gonna go scroll down until you see seller dashboard. Click there.

Here's my last live stream. Started nine four. I sold 26 items. I was thinking 28, it sold 26 items for 160 and my total earn so far is zero because none of these items have been delivered. Right here on the left is a list of all of the live streams I've ever had on whatnot. So if you needed to bring up items from a previous sale, you can do that. You can see I sold 21 items for 117 dollars here. So we're gonna go back to the September 4th live stream and we will be shipping items from the sale.

Okay, this area actually wasn't populated a while ago. It just said that I needed to contact Seller Support. It's Labor Day. I don't want to contact Seller Support, so I just kept refreshing the page until finally the shipments area. This is what it's supposed to look like. So it says seven to ship. So I have the 26 items. There were only seven buyers. Don't be discouraged if your whatnot auction only has like 10 or 14 people in it because look, I only needed seven people to show up to sell 26 items. So ensure that your shipping label format is correct. I am shipping on a 4x6 label and be sure that your return address is correct as well.

And as I scroll down here, you're actually going to see each shipment. So this particular buyer had three items bundled and it's going to tell me exactly which one of those items is which. Now, if you last watched my last video, then you'll know that I numbered the items one, two, three, four. So this is a 37, 33, and 23. I know exactly that she bought these three items are going to go to one buyer. And then as I scroll down, this buyer bought one item. It is number 28. And here's another three item bundle and so on and so forth until I have all 26 items.

So the very first thing I'm gonna do is take these three items. We will pull them and I will package these up nicely and get them into a box because I need to know the exact dimensions of this box. So let's pull 37, 33, and 23.

You can get basically all of your shipping supplies for whatnot, or most all of it, for free. You're allowed to use any USPS boxes for priority mail except for the flat rate boxes. And I don't think I would recommend using a regional rate box either, but the site does expressly forbid any flat rate boxes used on whatnot. But you can go to usps.com and order these for free. On top of that, every item that I send out gets packaged up in what is known as a bread bag. These are four dollars at Walmart and you get a hundred of them. So I just picked these up. This is really the only shipping supplies that I'm out. I do include thank you cards, but you don't absolutely have to do that. Just something to really show your appreciation because whatnot is more of a community and there's a lot of repeat buyers on whatnot, so make sure that your buyers feel valued.

This is the USPS 1097 box and since I have three shirts in this order, I think it's going to be a perfect size. On top of that, these boxes are self-adhesive, so you don't even have to buy tape. Literally, the only thing required are these bags and I guess you could get away with not even using the bags if you didn't want to. You do need to have a scale that will measure pounds and ounces and I have this one linked in my description. I bought it, it's less than 25 on eBay. So I'm just gonna put the box on here. We'll see how much this weighs. We're at two pounds seven and a half ounces. So I'm gonna write that down as two pounds eight ounces.

This order was for one men's shirt. It only weighs 11 ounces. So I'm actually just going to use a poly mailer. I got these from sindel and they are compostable and uh really great for the environment. So whatever type of poly mailer you want to use, I think I have some linked below in the description. Not sendle, but the brand that I typically use. And we're just going to put this in there because it's less than a pound, so it can go first class. So you cannot use Priority Mail materials on something that is going first class.

The biggest mailing box that USPS makes is this 12 by, may as well say 12 by 8. And guys, that's just not quite gonna be big enough for Designs by Josie's order. She ordered 11 items. So I am unfortunately gonna have to use my own box here, but not too unfortunate because I'm super stoked that she purchased 11 items. Thanks a lot, Josie.

So I have all the items packaged up now. We're gonna head to the desktop to print these labels. If you watch no other part of this video, this next part is the absolute most important. This is a timestampable moment. So someone pop it down below in the comments as a timestamp of the most important part. You don't want to skip this.

Here's the very first shipment. It's these three items. And you might think if you look over here that you just stop. Do not click that. He's right. Do not click create label. It looks like you should click that, but you absolutely should not. You see this little button hiding up here? Look, there's not even a toolbar to slide over here. Um, I think there was on my laptop, but there's not here. This next little button beside it says edit label. That's what we're going to click on.

And from here, we are brought to this screen that says ship your order. Update your package weight. Look at this. Everything is in ounces. I don't know why whatnot does this. Probably because they were founded in doing Funko pops. Even if you do pounds, you'd have to add like point such and such. So, uh, we're gonna convert this package to ounces. It's overall, it is two pounds eight ounces. Two times 16 ounces in a pound would be 32 plus the eight ounces is a 40 ounce package. So you see it says 46 ounces. Um, that is incorrect. And the length, width, and height is also incorrect.

Okay, so now I have the 40 ounce package, 11 by 3 by 13. Now you can click create label. As soon as I click create label, it's actually giving me a three-page label because it's including a packing slip. I'll be honest with you guys, I don't include the packing slip. I'm gonna print only page three to get that label. Got that label printed. Gonna stick it right on the box and drop this off at USPS.

Okay, I clicked back to shipments. It is loading the shipments. This is reloading because it just keeps failing to load the shipment. So I'm gonna keep refreshing. I guess this is something of a whatnot error right now, but I'm sure they'll work it out.

This part is super important. You see where this says bulk confirm package drop off? I don't know why whatnot needs you to confirm that you actually dropped it off, but they do. Are you sure you want to bulk confirm package drop off? Okay, successfully bulk marked items as shipped. Wonderful. Just bear with the app and the website. Um, while they're not a brand new app, there are a few glitches here and there on whatnot. If something doesn't work the first time, refresh and just ensure that your buyers get their packages delivered very, very quickly. I would recommend shipping immediately after the show if you have time. If not, the very next day. I think whatnot may give you two days, but I really wouldn't push it on that. Auction buyers are immediate buyers and they want their packages immediately too. USPS does get bogged down around the holidays, so you certainly don't want time to elapse in the fourth quarter. Get those packages out immediately.

You do not get paid on whatnot until the item shows confirmed delivered. I hope you guys enjoyed this quick video tutorial on how to ship on whatnot.
