There's a Chinese proverb: the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now. That's a good one to put in the back of your brain, hang on to, isn't it? How many of us procrastinate? You know, boy, don't we? And uh, you know, I think about I'm working on my some of my borders and different things. Uh, I got bamboo started growing about uh, it's probably been six, eight, seven years ago in a while. And if I had started that back when I used to think about, boy, I need to plant some pine or something on that border and block off that part of the road or whatever house. Yeah, I put it off. I put it off. So, this applies to me my whole life.

But you know the best time to uh yeah plant a tree. So you know literally you know it's uh not just an analogy, it was literally the the case for me. The best time to plant trees would have been 20 years ago, would have been 35 years ago when I bought this place. Uh, so you know, just didn't get at it quick enough because you cannot, you can't make up the time on planting a tree, you know that.

So, anything that is kind of like that, I've talked about that with uh your retirement plans or investments for that. I'm not an investment adviser, financial adviser, but you know, I touch on that occasionally. And uh same thing, you know, we could all be very rich if we just started when we're 18, 19, 20, 21, just putting some money uh in it's a uh you know, funds, index, just basic uh market funds, you know, and uh and retire almost easily. I'll say, you know, millionaires. You want to be a millionaire? It's not that big a deal. Put it in the uh uh financial calculator. You know, if you're 20 and you look around other people's money, you know, and you're going to work every day. Well, put put it in the financial calculator what you could actually invest and you'll see you could be a mean. In fact, you'd better be a millionaire if you're 20 years old by the time you're 65. Okay? Because uh you know, you probably need that to even get by. But that's kind of a gloomy approach or look at outlook, I guess, but you know, kind of kind of true, you know. It's man, that's a long way out there, going 30, 40, 50, 60, you know, you're talking 40, 50 years, you know, with inflation. So you need to get started on that and you can't again, the best time was last year or five years ago, but the second best time is now on anything like that.

You know, get started studying to whatever it is you're planning to take some courses, night courses or whatever, part-time uh school to learn to do something or get certified in something. Gunsmithing, SDI, uh anything that you're uh you're thinking about doing, you keep putting it off. Uh, you know, ju just start, even start slow. You know, over the years, I've realized that that's a good approach for me. If I've got a a man like the barn or something I need to clean up or I got something it's overwhelming, just overwhelming to do uh a task of some sort I know I need to do, is just get started and do a little bit one day. I mean, maybe just spend three minutes doing it and then five minutes the next day or something, you know? I mean, if you don't do anything, you're not going to get anywhere. Just do a little bit. Be be lazy about it. Yeah. Do a little bit. It's like the investing. Put 50 bucks in at the end of this month, you know, get the account started, set up the account or go to your employer, make sure uh you're having something taken out. It's just a little bit, you know, uh and then watch it, you know, and then, you know, got to get started on things. Okay, young people. These are maxims.
